  • Replacing the intake (inlet) manifold gasket on a 2003 to 2010 Nissan Micra K12. If the gasket is failing it will create a vacuum leak at the manifold. This could cause a check engine light due to the fuel injection system being too lean or an incorrect MAP sensor reading, possibly code P0171 or P0174. You might notice a hissing sound when the engine is running, the engine may be hard to start or it may have a rough idle. Thanks for watching. Please comment, like and subscribe !.

    I'm enjoying you Micra K12 video's, my son has just bought his first car and we are checking your videos for faults he has to fix. If possible could you do a video on adjusting the headlight beam to get past the NCT please ?

    • @screwsnutsandbolts
      @screwsnutsandbolts  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching. I can't do that I'm afraid as you need to use specialised optical beam setting equipment. You'll probably have to have that carried out at a garage.

      @@screwsnutsandbolts Thanks for replying, i guess we were hoping for a ChrisFix type of headlight adjustment tutorial. He has an old video about it, but we're interested in learning where the K12's adjusters are. Thanks again and keep up the good work

      Hi, if you pause this video at 3:18: ua-cam.com/video/Y5Rvv7HoR74/v-deo.html you can see the left/right adjuster at the bottom right of the picture (the black plastic threaded lug) and the up/down adjuster is the white pot at the top right of the picture (on the top of the headlight adjuster unit). The Nissan manual states: CAUTION: Adjustment with the aiming adjusting screw must be done in
      the tightening direction. (When adjusting in the loosening direc-
      tion, first loosen the screw, then tighten again.)

    Hi, just about to change the starter on my daughters K12 using your other video!! so will be changing the manifold gaskets when i have this apart. can you highlight where you add the air housing sealing ring didnt see that in the video... is it 4 of these i need?

    • @screwsnutsandbolts
      @screwsnutsandbolts  9 місяців тому

      I didn't change those and I don't have the Micra any more I'm afraid. Yes you need 4 of them and the part number is: Nissan 14032AX610. Double check that part number to be sure.

      Sorry one last question on this, planning it for this weekend... If we disconnect the battery will we need the radio code? Not sure we have that so might need to remove the serial number to get the radio details to get the code before I can do the starter.....

    What sort of issues would you get with a bad intake manifold gasket

    • @screwsnutsandbolts
      @screwsnutsandbolts  Рік тому +1

      If the gasket is leaking it will create a vacuum leak at the manifold. This could cause a check engine light due to an incorrect MAP sensor reading. You might notice a hissing sound when the engine is running, the engine may be hard to start or it may have a rough idle.

    • @berndb.5097
      @berndb.5097 Рік тому

      Difficult to start, especially when the engine is at operating temperature. The mixture becomes leaner, which also increases the combustion temperature. Also recognizable by a particularly white color of the spark plugs. If the vacuum in the intake manifold is too low due to a leak, the check engine light should also light up.

    You know where i can buy the 4 bolts for the manifold 😮 - got slight hissing and high idle - want to change the gasket plus rubber parts plus 4 new bolts - 🔩 somebody lost the left bottom when servicing probably and fitted a dofferent bolt - that is the issue i think
    Going to have a look down the scrap yards try and buy whole manifold gasket and bolts etc
