How to Install a Performance Intake Manifold and Replace Gaskets (Dyno PROOF)

- Learn how to replace an intake manifold and intake manifold gaskets in your car or truck. I am upgrading my intake manifold from a non PI intake to a PI performance intake which will hopefully add some Horsepower and Torque! I also show you how to install a water pump, and how to tap the intake port for a coolant temperature sensor.

I really admire the work you put in all the videos. I check for your new videos almost daily and always wonder what takes you so long. Everytime I see the new video I'm like "okay, this was worth waiting". The work you have to put in repairing the car and in addition to that, the work you have to put in moving and placing the camera so every bolt you touch is visible for the viewer and finally editing the video the way you do it (every transition, every splitscreen, all the bolts to mark and these things you do with graphs) must take hours and hours. I really appreciate it and hope that you'll keep doing such a great videos. Even though I don't even have a car, I always enjoy your videos, so one day I buy myself a car, i can do it at home just because of you. Thank you!
Thanks a lot Martin! Yea you definitely understand which is awesome! It all takes foreverrrr to do but I rather make something quality than spit out tons of junk videos.

Chris fix you are a legend. I never worked on a car before and I was able to replace the intake manifold on my crown vic following your video. It took me three days working on the street but I am extremely happy with how much I learned and how good is the car now. you saved me at least 500 bucks. Thank you so much for all your hard work. 😃

The fact that you didn't install the throttle body is actually insane. You're true to the viewers and do a lot for us rather than yourself. Yeah, it's not a crazy attachment / extra work to do it later but you're willing to do more work to help us learn.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHOWING PEOPLE HOW TO PROPERLY TAP! So many amateurs break taps because they NEVER back the tap out and clean it.
This is awesome! Crazy how much power it added on the top end for simply changing intake manifolds! It's also wild how different the engines in our cars are. At 6,000 RPM your Mustang has said enough, and from 1000-6000 RPM my S2000 is as slow as a Corolla. Awesome that there's such diversity out there in engine design!
Put them together and no one can stop us! Lol

Hey Chris! I also take pictures before taking apart my car as for future reference just in case! It's a habit I started when I would upgrade my PCs. Fixing a Car is like a giant more complicated computer! Thanks Chris for your help over the years!
Chris, your videos are the thing, man! You put in so much hard work planning, performing, and then, editing the videos, it appears so easy to the viewers, even though it's not. After seeing your videos, I slowly started learning and trying to fix my 14-year old car, a 2008 Toyota Prius 2nd gen. It had a lot of trouble as I had to learn about MAF sensor cleaning, throttle body cleaning, air filter & cabin filter changing, finding performance oils & oil filters, spark plugs, PCV valves and transmission fluids, but your videos are very helpful man. Thanks!
Who cares if it was only 12hp you shot flames
You're oversimplifying the power gains if you only take into account the peak power. Like the video shows, the power increased 50hp at redline and in general everywhere over 4000rpm. It's not a constant rpm engine, you know :)

*drills hole into intake manifold*
Chrisfix: 🤷 op, would you look at that. Guess I have to install a performance intake. 🤷
🤣🤣🤣
I feel like he pokes holes in his car parts so he can make a video on replacing it
@@cesarrobledo458 it's joke but ford designed these intake manifolds terribly. The 96+ 4.6 2v intakes were made out of plastic and that crossover that was leaking coolant was recalled. They kept plastic everywhere else, just not on that crossover. He has a PI intake from FORD FRICKING PERFORMANCE and it's still made of plastic.
This looks amazing, Chris! Will you be installing the PI heads as well? I noticed the gaskets left a lot of room for bigger intake runner size and a lot of the increase in power is from the improved head design. Keep it up dude!
Thanks a lot! I was was thinking to just port matching because it’s not worth l extra time to take the heads off.
That would make for an interesting vid
Well you're adding a supercharger so doing the pi heads would be pretty pricey. The swap increases compression. Putting boost to that would mean forged internals, upgraded fuel system, and tuned for higher octane than even 93. Or e85 will do well with high compression and boost.
ChrisFix but you can then make a video about installing a head gasket. With that cars past and the way it is driven now, youre on borrowed time. I think you should put on PI heads and get a new gasket so everything is solid reliable. Never trust rtv on those kinds of applications.
When are you guys gonna colab

I’m a mechanic as well Chris but recent years after my motorcycle accident I haven’t been able to work on my own car as much. Lately my project dsm (2g eclipse) has been giving me issue after issue and I was getting tired, but your videos give me the inspirational to keep working on my project and to continue on because the joy that comes at the end is always so sweet, yesterday I did my rear cylinders and drum brakes. everss02 The triton v8 was only in the trucks via the 4.6 or 5.4 the mustangs all 96-04 2vs were either Windsor or Romeo blocks the difference is the tritons compression chamber were at a 75 degree angle for torque and the Romeo windsors were 90 for more power and when I say angle I mean the v in the center of the motor tritons are closer while mustang motors are further

I'm all for installing a new intake. But. Seeing what happened to the old one. Holy balls.
Thanks for the heads up! I've never seen nor heard of this happening. Might make me rethink buying an older Mustang.
The GMC intakes are also notorious for intake manifolds leaking. The gaskets and the manifold itself would melt around the egr, usually between 60 and 100k. Suddenly you get a gusher right into your ports and then hydrolock. And then you have the leaking valve cover gaskets resulting in oil on the exhaust and then fireballs. Official recall fix is more tin foil...
Plastic. That's what happened. Cheap ass auto manufacturers
James Bell yup mine cracked and leaked all over!
Daniel Rouw Never had that happen to ours, but ours only recently hit 130k. We talking 5.3 and 6.0 or just most GM engines?
