Bruh 2 health bar Godfrey wouldve been sooooooo good for final release
Technically speaking this was the final release...they just changed it all in the day 1 patch
I believe he has the same amount of hp, it’s just a matter of presentation. Also bosses with 2 health bar dies between the 2 phases, there was no reason for him to have a second one
Would've been sick for Ng+
@@kgMeruem don't ignore serosh 😾. More than enough reason to warrant a 2nd HP bar
same for maliketh its a shame we only get to play that beautiful bossfight with half bar
Not surprised they took the purple flames off of Maliketh's attacks. There's a whole video out there about color theory in ER, but the ultra-short version is that the colors of things in this world matter, and purple tends to be more associated with space stuff (Radahn's gravity magic, Astel's attacks, etc.). So from a concept level the purple could be considered a mismatch with the Destined Death attacks. Won't deny it still looks pretty darn cool though.
Hawkshaw the goat
I think the purple was replaced with gold in the current game and indicates when you can parry w/ blasphemous claw

@@random_something1852purple is sleep
@@turkN9NE and gravity? Maybe it’s more like spatial or celestial?
In the day one rivers of blood scaled with faith instead of arcane and it was godly, the mimic tear also would use flasks so it could literally solo bosses.
The mimic tear still uses flasks, just not as often as on day one release.
Is Rivers of blood still good? And is the mimic tear still as good as it used to be before the nerf? Cos I've seen clips of it and it doesn't seem to be anywhere near as good. Or maybe it was just too op before.
Rivers of blood is still OP, scales with Arcane instead now tho. Mimic Tear is still OP but nowhere NEAR AS OP as it used to be. If you have a good build, the mimic tear will be good too.@@anonisnoone6125
@@anonisnoone6125 RoB is still busted for PvP, not so much PvE (there's just better options). As for mimic tear, it's still OP though not as much.
Lmao rob is hardly busted in PVP😂 unless you're a god at PVP.
Powerstanced greatsword strength builds and int builds are way more busted in PVP, like way more. @@dabniel8177
Actually. I bought elden ring disc day 1. When doing so I lived on a sailboat and could not update the game. For the first 6 months. After watching 2 or 3 guide videos. I knew I was screwed due to version 1.0. It was super fun but really like a randomizer run.
Elden Ring on a sailboat??? That sounds cool
That's so cool, I'd want to hear how that came to be if you wouldn't mind sharing
i was in the same situation just not on a sail boat, i never really had wifi until recently
I mean pretty sure most people did but atleast u had an experience
Yeah I remember wanting to get the trumpet and it said it was at the city and I was confused as hell. Eventually updated the game and all the imps became oracles.
Malenia’s music buffed morgott🤣
Margit was stronger (mostly faster) during closed network test, so it's entirely possible he was differently tuned in 1.0 too.
I was falling asleep to this video really late at night and i suddenly woke up right at 33:58 and i was trying so hard to make out what "BEAST PASTA" meant with my tired brain
This gave my a chuckle lmao
lmfaooo
The fact they considered TWO Waterfowls??? I'm so glad they didn't commit...
Fun fact you might've missed: From what I've heard, Margit's cutscene in the first version of ER was different. His sword was burning in one scene. They got rid of it, because it contradicted the lore, where fire is considered "heretical" and Margit was with Golden Order or whatever
That one wasn't just in 1.0, they only removed that like 1 or 2 patches after release, because I remember thinking it was cool as shit on my first play-through. I get why they removed it, but I'm still sort of bummed out about it.
I caught that too, In my first playthrough when he cracks the shell around his sword it burns with fire. They removed that in later updated.
I thought it was changed because he only sets his sword on fire in the second phase
I saw that cutscene on my first playthrough and it was sick. I'm still bummed they got rid of it.
Well that's just sad. I guess Miyazaki really wanted as well but realised it would fuck up his story.
I don't think I've ever seen a single-player game change this drastically so soon after the full release. I could more understand if there were large changes over the course of many smaller patches, but for this much to be changed basically from day 1 is crazy.
That's bc v1.0 wasn't supposed to be the release version, but they messed something up, v1.0.2 was definitely the supposed patch for the release
One that I’ve seen is Final Fantasy Origin Stranger of Paradise, that game’s first version on disc is the ugliest ps5 game I’ve ever seen
@@sedarium5307 The disc copies were probably done before they finished the whole game, meaning they'd be on an older version
Because this version virtually didn't exist for most people. If you had the internet and played elden ring you didn't play this version.
@AdoreYouInAshXI I know the day 1 patch is the reason why the number of people who personally saw this version of the game at launch is relatively small. That doesn't go against my initial comment, though.
I still have never seen a copy of a game that is this different from just a day one patch. This is basically a beta build of a AAA game that it publicly accessible on the retail copy, and is what some people were stuck with if they didn't have internet at launch.
Interesting how a lot of the stuff from the network test was only chanced on the day 1 patch. The UI, the Night's Cavalry not having a health bar, Margit having Malenia's soundtrack... Very surprising
Edit: Correction, a lot of the network test stuff was patched a day before the game was released.
This is not how people experienced the game. The full version starts with patch 1.02, which came out one day before release.
I'd guess a comparison to 1.02 would show far fewer discrepancies.
@@ETBrooD I did not know that. Thanks
The unpatched version of the game is not meant to be the release version at all. This was clearly a pretty unfinished version of the game. 1.02 changes were clearly not made after the game was released.
Don't confuse the timelines of patch releases with the times it took to make them.
When the network test was ongoing, they pretty much had v1.01 (Day 0 patch) ready and were readying v1.02 (Day 1 patch) for release. Everybody played v1.02 on release.
The network test was purposefully using an outdated, but stable, version of the game for testing.
Dude- I’m so glad someone has finally made a video on this. I got the game day one and never updated it because of my terrible internet. I only realized that I was basically playing the game on hard mode when I beat the dragonic tree sentinel and my game wouldn’t let me past the door behind him without me updating the game.
Someone named BertoPlease made a whole series of videos about the 1.0 changes more than a year ago
I keep watching videos of players playing the game with Nerf bosses extra weapons and loot out the wazoo and I keep thinking how many of these players would have broken under the stress of 1.00
@@kevinkukacka1409 Even if they hadn't updated the game people would've adapted and mastered every aspect of the game anyway, it's not that big of a deal.
I wonder how long it took to download if you cant update the game lol
@@Terminated_Accountpeople can buy discs still I bought it on disc with no WiFi
Lordsworn’s greatsword DEFINITELY did not swing like that
It definitely did because I used it at the start then dropped it when the moveset changed one day. I want my mirrah greatsword.
@@Darkrocmonthe bastards greatsword has this move set. Infact i just did a whole run with it the other day
@@Darkrocmonbanished knight greatsword still has that moveset
Inseparable sword has that moveset too
Thats what all the greatsword movesets should be like
Proof that pre-patch Radahn is just a myth. The only moveset difference is the projectile speed lol
Exactly! And they fixed his attack hitboxes because they weren’t good, that’s all, nothing drastic at all, but somehow people ignorantly attributed that to the difficulty of Radahn, his move-set was never that difficult to avoid from, yeah he can beat you a bunch of times, but he’s not Maliketh, Malenia, Morgott, Mohg, Radagon in terms of moveset, never was. Though Radahn is one of my favorite bosses in the Soulsborne series, top 5 even.
@@HeyTarnished yeah. Radahn has a big moveset but if you just dodge behind him and stick there, you can avoid most of it. Still a very fun fight though, probably my fav in the game.
It was the damage numbers that changed, nothing else. Also I’m pretty sure the game released at a slightly later patch, so there were a few things that didn’t make it to the base game. He could have been a bit tougher than he was in this video.
But yea pre patch radahn was not a myth.
I wish he was that beast tho. When I fought him he was a little too easy, especially when they give you all the summons. He deserved to be one of those big roadblocks
@@HeyTarnishedall them others took 2-3 tries at most, Radahn had me ready to break my controller after 5 hours
I’m glad you confirmed what I’ve been thinking! I bought the disk, and don’t have internet so this is the version I’m playing. When I’m looking things up online there are sooo many things that don’t match up from what I’m told online to what my game actually says. Things like cookbook locations, names of locations and all sorts of items, and even damage type for specific weapons is different. It was a bit annoying trying to navigate with differences.
I concur. Basically no info or guides for the 1.00 version online. But BertoPlease has at least pointed out some stuff here on YT, If you are interrested.
Connect the internet you use to search online to your console lmao
There's a couple of really funky music changes in here that you didn't mention in the vid. In the final game Niall uses Old Warriors. In this he uses Grave Wardens (generic catacombs boss music). I would've called that out as a likely placeholder for non-remembrance (or just non-main story) bosses, but then Astel for some reason has Erdtree Knights? Maybe Astel's considered closer to a world boss, and that's a placeholder for those? Also Gideon has Godfrey's music, for some reason.
Also I'm pretty sure Astel's meteors aren't orange in the final game.
Also Placi's big spear attack not only didn't stop the music, it also lacked it's unique sound effects and AoE display.
Probably because Gideon shares arenas with Godfrey
Astel with Erdtree Knights ost is so goofy it turns out comical
Lol and astels meteor did no damage for such a massive seemingly devastating attack
“Now, do you understand?”I feel like this should’ve stayed. It makes more sense in terms of the fight, before the fight starts she tells you to listen to her and that she’s never known defeat. You still challenge her and she beats you, so her asking if you understand now fits
The purple on Maliketh’s attacks was sooooooo cool
fr
“The most important check possible. Millicent still exists.”
Could this be one of my people?
*notices the profile picture* oh my god it is
using the magic beam against the rotted tree avatar seems redundant? It's resistant to magi and weak to fire, so just use the other attack of SoNaF.
The reason magma wyrm Makar is called Makal is likely because in Japanese L and R are very similar and so it could have been a wrong translation or they changed it because makar sounds better
Makar is a russian name also.
Funny. Right timing + popular topic = video boost :) Congrats!
"It doesn't help that colossal weapons take forever to get back up."
Don't I know it 😢
The UI in this version is very similar to the UI of the version that streamers played during the public network test that took place a little bit before the game fully came out
Beating 1.00 Malenia with two waterfowl moves is different gravy.
Very cool showcase! I thought I fever dreamed up some of this stuff but its cool seeing the differences and how much was actually changed!
Congratulations, your video has been blessed by UA-cam algorithm!
That ragged outfit looks really good… I want it
My first playthrough was on 1.00 and I still have the armor
@@TheguyfromJurassicpark3 What do you play on? Do you think it would work on Xbox?
I'm on ps4
Here's what i found different in this video you probably missed:
Prince Morgott uses 1 holy knife instead of the usual 3,
Astel rememberence is Rememberence of the Misbegotten, and Black Blade AoW is called Destined Death Unbound. Thanks for making this video
Very interesting. I noticed the Astel rememberance in the run but ignored it since I already mentioned the name change but didn’t see the other 2
Here’re some more: Astel had the wrong music, Gideon had Godfrey/Hoarah Loux music (yes, both), Loretta in Caria manor was named Guard Loretta, Placidisax’s big nuke attack didn’t have VFX that accurately reflected its range, Malenia’s waterfowl in phase 2 is missing the orange butterfly VFX, the magic glintblades fired by red wolf have a spiral trail behind them instead of a straight one, the second to last strike at the end of Malenia’s waterfowl (the one before the aoe that sends you flying) looked different, Malenia had an extra voice line when killing you in phase 1: “Now do you understand? I am Malenia, Blade of Miquella”, the player seemed to use the death by poke animation even when not dying of poke (not sure about this one, but it seemed like it), and probably more that I missed (I haven’t rewatched it, this is all what I remember from first time through)
His name is Margit the fell also… seems like they added “omen” after the update
9:59 that move set is also in the game its from D's sword, the inseparable Sword. it can be obtained by completing fia's questline and giving D's armor to his brother.
The banished knight greatsword also has this moveset, but I guess not many people know bout it cuz its like a 4% drop from a "stronger" less common enemy.
Also the Knight’s Greatsword, which is the longest of the three greatswords with the flowy moveset
i simply love this moveset, is how a greatsword is supposed to be used
@@drsgonborn and it allows for a true combo (jump R1 comboes into an R1). Amazing swords, superior in both practicality and sexyness of the moveset
its just the mirrah greatsword moveset from dark souls 2, ten years ago...
Reason sword of night and flame didnt work on first 2 bosses is because with the wolf as you recognized it has magic res and tree avatar was putrid so.... Fire is the weakness lol
I had to actually shake my head a little
Also it didn't work against radahn cuz that was when he was "too unfair"
Also yea the original plan was for the dudes you saw at lake of rots temple to be all over the area there. But ultimately that never happened and the rotted version was removed
With the exception of one guy in the middle of the lake.
It's a shame they took "-the strength is mine" out of Godrick's "Didst thou witness" line, it sounds so cool like that.
Also the LS Greatsword has the same moveset here as the BK Greatsword and Knights GS, I wish it kept it, I've always wondered why it didn't have that moveset to begin with, turns out it did
They also cut varrie's line from the network test where he says, "Feel free to go off and die in a ditch somewhere."
As someone who bought Elden ring, and didn’t update it for a long time, the first version is the one I’m used to
This was very eye opening for me, since I played the entire playthrough on 1.0 and eventually updated it later on. I was wondering why I couldn't find locations for certain things that were listed online for the patched versions. Also, because I played offline, I had to use the glitch in the snowfields, since I couldn't do Varre's quest to invade other players.
A portal can get ya there. Even in the unpatched version : )
Damn, this vid is popping off on your channel. It's about to get a million views eventually.
Its ridiculous that its been 2 years. I remember where I was, who I was with, what I was doing, and what my plans for the evening were right before the game unlocked for me on steam. Launch was something beautiful.
I played the 1.00 version so i can totally agree it's a completely different experience, a lot of Items and broken or missing, bosses were altered, as you pointed out the ui was changed, there's a glitch preventing you from getting further buffs for +25 weapons, the husks had nothing, oh yeah as you saw they moved the 6th obelisk,i missed something UA-cam messed my comment up and i forgot lol, but i could go on and on, they changed a BUNCH, oh yeah her dialogue messes up the first time lmao i had the exact same reaction "what?" Immediately talks to her again.
I had played through half the game on 1.0 because I was too lazy connect my PS4 to the internet. After my wife told me I could find a mighty weapon for my build in Limgrave. I searched on the exact spot she told me but I couldn't find anything. The same happened later again with a Weapon supposedly found near the Witch Village. Then I got the idea to update the game and it was a very different and less broken experience since then!
It was really funny because some of the Dragons just fell through the floor and died. I couldn't even fight them or get their drops, but at least I got some easy runes.
I still miss my farming spot where I could get thousands of Runes without even fighting.
Love your creative idea)
so essentially the updates that came after were downgrades ,bosses were made easier, one armor set removed,an entire moveset of malenia removed.
Didn't have any net at home when the game first released, so this was my first playthrough, then i updated it later that year to see what the difference was, alot of different item names, descriptions added etc.
Enjoyed the video.
Nice job friend
Fun fact: the ancestor spirits in 21:02 and this „waterfowl like“ attack at 32:24 is at the newest convergence mod version 1.4.1 too. Thats cool.
10:26 Damn, that sword with a glintstone pebble was basically my first weapon my first playthrough. I wanted to try melee only, but after starting the game I realized some ranged magic would help me out. That was the only thing I could figure out how to do lmao
you skipped almost everything in leyndell, but it's the most changed area, basically every single enemy is different
yeah, it is weird to make a video solely to highlight the changes but then he just skips whole sections
Love the music around the 20 minute mark
My favourite Elden ring update: the one where they added the word omen to margit’s title
I actually really like those original names for smithing stones, normal to hard to golden to polar to ancient dragon, and then if I had to guess somber 9 was colorless. Much better IMO than just numbering them
LARGE HARD Smithing Stone made me chuckle
Banished knights greatsword uses that lordsworn moveset still in current path. It's very good
4:05 isnt that the set from the nomad merchants? Idk it looks pretty cool and maybe someone wants to cosplay as them
I remember I got the game day 1 but didn’t have internet at the time, so I was stuck playing the 1.0 release. I didn’t worry much about it until I noticed other people were called upgrade materials “smithing stones”, among other things.
It was a huuuuge shock when I finally got the game updated after my first run, it was like playing Elden Ring: Scholar of the First Sin.
I played the game day 1 on Steam and i don't remeber the UI being like that, this is actually the servers tests /closed beta UI.
Some things i do remember is my save corrupting, i lost my first 4 hours of gameplay because power went out and my save corrupted, i had to start again.
Another VERY useful additing that only came later was adding a little notification icon when there is new options in the bonfire menu, i actually lost Ranni's questline because there is so many options in the menu that i didn't see the "talk to miniature Ranni" option and you can only do it in Nocron bonfires. It's was hard to spot new options without the notification icon.
they added the site of grace notifications far after release, i played the game first in june 2022 and they were added a good few weeks later than that
@@natttt7377 Yes, the comment said as much.
Interesting watch, I will definitely help you see that purple phone come back in the DLC. I actually remember that alternate godskin version was on UA-cam along time ago. Phase 1 of it is still up iirc. Also I’ll never understand why they though godskin duo but more than a duo made any sense lol
I’ve been playing on this version since last September when I bought the game. I never updated throughout my first play through and my entire experience has purely been offline so yeah
I updated just last week lol. It’s weird cause my RoB didn’t scale with Arcane, alongside other changes. After the update last week I had to do a rebirth so I could handle most of my weapons. I’m on NG+2 rn
The moveset you're seeing on the Lordsworn's Greatsword is the moveset that's now on the Knight's Greatsword, which is a potential drop from the knight at Gatefront. Understandable change, that moveset is very smooth, and lordsworns is like the first weapon anyone finds.
I wonder if the boss music being all the same was on purpose to know if people were playing before the day 1 patch
great video!!
That was cool seeing the changes.
"Destined Death Unbound" is a cool name change. It makes sense too in the main story.
Wish they kept that in the final release.
Bro like the health bar looks like the lines drawn in a book , the later health bar is so much better
Complaining about sonaf dmg while NOT using fire attack on the tree... :D Nice vid, there are a few interesting stuff in this version
I remember all of this jank, SoNaF was absolutely cracked. Thanks for the nostalgia dopamine!
Those two trees! Man I remember that! I'm replaying the game because the new DLC is coming out soon, and I was expecting those two freaking trees to come kick my ass! And only one showed up! Honestly I think I'm gliding through my second playthrough because I played day one on disc and beat it in 30 hours.
Also mimic tear at plus 10 was trash too when u summoned it it was practically dead with low health and summons were more squishy too in 1.00 at least for me 😅
I played the PS4 version of the game first, and when I went to replay on PS5 I started out in the first version purely to make a beeline for the abductor virgin that drops you into Volcano Manor so I could get the early Somber 7 before the jump across to it was patched and get an OP weapon from the start this time, lol. Luckily that was one of the items whose locations was the same. (Interestingly the Somber 3 in the entrance to Raya Lucaria, which you see in the video was a ceremonial pot in the disc version of the game, will appear where it was meant to be after you patch the game, where the other missing somber stones that I saw just stay gone if you pick up the item that was there instead)
3:36 i remember 🤔
Wow. I had forgotten when I first started playing on the disk, I didn’t have internet. I chose the Intelligencer thinking what the hell is that? But he looked cool as an assassin, so I went with.
Then after an update he became a Confessor.
Now I know why that was the case.
Thank you!
Fromsoft themselves stated that nerf was accidental and reverted shortly after it happened. Radahn is Radahn.
Always neat when people get jumpscared by the DS2 Greatsword moveset lol
ur voice and dialect reminds me of Roderika, engaging in some spirit tuning by any chance?
Elden Ring fans when they hear a british person lmao
1:05 well that definitely hasnt changed 😂😂
The ragged armor looks like it would go well with another pair of greaves
you should also try fallingstar beast, in the cave the limgrave chest sends you to in caelid. I loved how hard that boss was, apparently it was a bug to have his Mt. Gelmir appearance in a tiny cave with no room
Damn I wish we had the ragged armour. I love the hair and the chest is pretty cool too
02:16 originally, that song was made for margit in the beta then they decide to give it to malenia.
I'm always gonna miss the network test when you could get Ordovis' Greatsword from the troll cart east of Agheel Lake and the Brick Hammer was found in Castle Morne.
I still remember playing this version! I even got the game a week earlier.
That move set on the lord sworn GS you can get on the Knight’s GS which is a dex based sword. It’s pretty cool!
I miss being able to get the smithing bell bearing two in Liurnia
It was such a pointless change. I don't even know where to find those smithing stones.
Don't forget the additional Night's Cavalry members added near Bellum Church and near the Eastern Liurnia broken Academy bridge.
You know, it's probably not the reason, but that thing with Malenia's OST appearing on a couple other bosses to me is reminiscent of Spyro 3.
In Spyro 3, the OST of the very first overworld will also play in the third overworld as well as during the final boss fight. I don't remember if the final boss music did exist in the 1.0 version of Spyro 3, but the third overworld music does exist in the files of all verisons of the game.
The idea why that was happening in Spyro 3 had apparently something to do with some info tables not being set up correctly for those levels, so when the game can't find the correct tracks due to those incorrect tables, it defaults to the first OST on the list, which is the OST of the very first overworld. The European release (which came after the US release) did kinda hastily patch up at least the final boss music by using the music from the second boss (the overworld track was incredibly off tonally for the boss), but all/most of the music mishaps were only corrected in the last release version of Spyro 3, which were American Greatest Hits and Collectors Edition releases.
The Malenia OST thing kinda feels similar, depending on how everything is set up file structure wise etc. Although I think the OST did seem to fit pretty decently with Margit.
Gideon Ofnier, the All-Spamming!
its super interesting that there's so many differences in names, I think its due to translation but its interesting that the translations weren't finalized on release.
I remember the Halo Scythe in this version getting bleeds from the weapon skill, they also did so much damage from what I remembered
dude this is giving me "wait the game changed that?" as I played through most of the early - mid game in 1.0
i love the mind goblins in this game! they are very fun enemies
Might be a minor thing, but I really liked the Morgott cane glow when he reveals his sword in the cutscene where you fight him in the capital before they patched it out. Dont entirely know why, it just made a lot of sense to me and looked really sick.
The greatsheild talisman is down where you get the regular shield talisman near beast clurgyman.
Crazy how much can go into a day one patch
Can we hust shout out how good ember is a base level with the samurai? Casually crushing.
Dat Somber Polar Smithing Stone doe.. lol
I played this version of the game because my internet wasnt working for about 2 weeks when the game released. Many things were so different in my second and third playthroughs after i updated the game.
Kinda sad the ragged armor isn't in the game, looks good imo.
Only 1 thing u need to know about 1.0. Bleed was crazy. Like bring any boss from full to half in one bleed proc
Now I understand why so many NPC quests had to have cut content restored in patches months later, they were just doing whatever up until the day the game released
another weird thing about patch 1.00 is that two quest which lead to a unique ending are glitched so you can do them, also dung eaters sword skill is something like #swordname105 and you cant get Loretta's war sickle
Came back to replay ER a week ago. Watching this confirms my confusion regarding items and difficulty.....
interesting that the text is "demigod slain" when beating Radahn, in my first playthrough it said "legend felled", dont know witch patch version, but now its back to demigod felled
U can do varre's quest in the 1st patch offline by doing the volcano manor invasions and the yura invasion and talking to him later.
that purple maliketh is sick
Lol Margit with Malenia music made me laugh ^^
