Astonishing! This should go down in the Guinesss book or something.... to play the entire composition of THICK AS A BRICK on all the virtual instruments by yourself from memory with no sheet music and not make any mistakes? A true masterpiece of performance my friend. You are an amazing talent. Kudos and accolades! May the UA-cam Gods grant you a special place in Rock and Roll Heaven, Thomas Burlefinger!
Lucky you with your C3 and wooden Leslie! And then to have the taste and skill to play some of the best iconic pieces from the beginning of the Prog era. My, my, such a lucky man you are indeed! Thank you for sharing with us.
Dear Thomas. I have been a fan of JT since the very day that "Thick As A Brick" was originally released in the 1970s. I have known that the whole album MUST have been recorded on a 32 channel tape recorder in those days, as the complexity of the individual instrumental lines is so vast. You have certainly done and shown great achievement in even coming close to your performance that I have just witnessed. As a composer, and a very long standing fan of JT I humbly congratulate you on your tremendous effort and splendid performance and prowess. Well done sir.
Interesting trivia: Morgan Studios were the first in England to have a 24-track recorder. Even the venerable Abbey Road only had a 16-track machine until later in the decade.
God, this is something great! I am writing, apparently, 9 years after you did this and I do not know how I could’ve miss it! I always felt John Evans had the best sounding Hammond/Leslie tone in rock and roll. Your take is as close as I’ve ever heard, and the mix is as if I’m listening to John’s mix. Your playing is so clean. Did you actually transcribe parts or learn by ear? I know there isn’t time, but I’d love to know the story of putting this together! I have so many. questions, mate! It’d be a dream to me to be able to sit in, like you did here, in John’s place, playing TaaB or A Passion Play with Tull. It certainly makes me miss me old C3… it sounds like my A-100, but because of its build, I could pile heavier and more stuff on it. Thanks, man, for doing this work.
Fantastic arrangement! Organ, piano, moog, acoustic guitar, vocals, all midi instruments - all done by one man . Thomas, you are the real one-man band!
Absolutely awesome, Thomas! Thick As A Brick was one of my favorite albums of all time and watching this video was an absolute joy! After losing Keith Emerson, it's nice to see someone bring us back to the days of great performance artists, yourself now included!
I've been a big fan of JT for 50 years, and I'm as old as Ian Anderson. I play guitar. I love this !! Reviving the days of my youth. I plan to play this composition in the near future with my band..
Thought I'd stop by as I needed another full dose of this masterpiece, and it seems that my old comment in the list has disappeared. We can't have that so I must re-iterate that Thomas is my hero. He plays my favorite instruments and wish I could as well as he does but I can't get my left hand to disassociate from the right hand (or my brain to separate them) so I'm relegated to watching the King of Keyboards which fulfills my hunger for Jethro Tull up close. Wish he would play the entire catalog, but this performance was unparalleled, and I felt the need to re-state that.
Excellent! I just saw Jethro Tull in June and they only played this tune for only 4 minutes. I sure wish they would've played the entire tune. Thanks, Sam.
Absolutly amazing peformance. Chapeau. Jethro tulls first song I ever heard was INSIDE from the album BENEFIT I think. It blew me away. Maybe an inspiration for you to create this song on your own way.
what an ambitious undertaking!!!! As much as I admire that album, I wouldn't begin to try to duplicate it, just a litte too much, but you have done a masterful job!
uaaaaaaaaauuuuuuu!!!!! acojonante, esto si es una performance, no los como imitadores estos de klaus schulze que no saben tocar y todo son efectos, bucles y soniditos. un 10 para ti colega.
Thomas, I know a guy here in CA who is just like you, perhaps a musical genius, a keyboard technocrat, who loves music of all kinds and can play it all, and what I'll say is, in some parallel universe there exists another Thomas Burlefinger who is huge rock star the likes of Rick Wakeman. Thanks for putting yourself out there! We hear you.
Keith would be proud. This was my favorite in '71. Thanks for a great job of taking me back there.
Come back for this every couple months ❤
Your love for the music shines through. Beautifully done 👍
Ja wohl! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this superb rendition of TAAB 3. Ich wr in HAmburg zeimal gewesen! Love Songs from the Tull! 😄⚛♥🌍👍

Thanx a lot, man. As for left/right-independence: try "Für Elise" by Beethoven. It's different left right but kinda serial at first. Greetz 🙂!
WOW, excellent work, I love the organ parts in that song!
Wonderful! Loved every bit of it, a faithful homage to a superb album!
.. TAAB... III, FANTÁSTICO...!
Greetings from our Finca Bouree, a place in the mountains of Baja California.
Excellent congrats!!!!
Love that Hammond/Leslie sound. Nothing else comes close. As long as there is someone with your talent banging on the keys. Amazing performance!
Excellent! I just saw Jethro Tull in June and they only played this tune for only 4 minutes. I sure wish they would've played the entire tune. Thanks, Sam.
