Yes! I love the dedication!🤗💜 Just keep going, you've got this! Improve just one thing with every video. That's what I also try to do. Eventually, we'll be video pros😊
Started my channel at the beginning of this year and the climb to 1000 subscribers was slow and daunting. Then I had a video pop off and get 50k views, which put me over the 1k subscribers mark and get monetized. It is possible and you never know when it'll happen! I'm still a small youtuber and I don't make a lot of money on my videos, but even making a few bucks is encouraging.
Mrbeast said something that I think is quite profound, it doesn't matter how good your editing is, when you're a small channel, first release 100 videos and then you can start worrying about views and subscribers. You'll have to accept that your first 100 videos are not going to get a lot of views. The sad reality that people often fail to acknowledge, is that in the beginning at-least, content is king. For small creators, quantity often matters more than quality. It's better to start off with a lot of poorly edited low production videos and improve the quality as you grow vs releasing only a handful of videos slowly while trying to keep improving the quality as a small creator. You have to have balance. Anyway, don't give up. Much respect for small creators.
@@angryguymwa yes, I agree that quantity matters a lot😁. However, it also depends on the type of channel you have. For example, my channel is education-based and not really entertainment-based. For education channels, it's important to make sure the quality is also good because you're trying to teach people things. So, posting 1 good quality video per week is good. As for entertainment channels, you can post more. But, I agree that regardless of the type of channel you have, the first couple of videos are definitely lower quality as you're getting used to creating videos😂 Well done on your channel growth by the way! Almost 40k subs. That's amazing!🔥
I agree with both of you that content is key and depending on your niche, quality is also important. Totally agree - making one video takes about 2-3 weeks, so I always split them into 4 parts. Even if the views aren't always the best, I really love the grind and creation process. If you don't enjoy the process (or at least parts of it), it will be very hard to do long-term. Besides trying to be perfect, it’s been really really slow with the views (Blogging while chronic is the channel ). I don’t want this to be strictly a health channel. I’m sort of stuck. In love with the process but I don’t know which way to go out how to do it and that’s the reason why I’m slow with my content.
@@bloggingpixelsandpages2 I'm sorry to hear about your chronic pain, Milady. I hope the surgery helps take all the pain away🤗 Your channel sounds great! I think you're definitely on the right path and you can help a lot of people with your content. You can make your channel a health and lifestyle channel. So, you can talk about your chronic pain and the steps you're taking to get better, and you can also record videos about your life and experiences. At the end of the day, your channel should be about something that you're passionate about, but that also has income potential😊 P.S. I'll be releasing a small digital product soon that covers how to identify your most profitable niche which I think can help you get the right direction for your channel so you're no longer stuck. This video is the best example to portray the fact that the most viewed content or the most popular Niche on UA-cam these days is "How to grow on UA-cam"
I've actually found it quite challenging to grow in this niche😅. For example, my client is in the relationship industry and she's managed to grow her channel to over 7k subs relatively quickly. This is the first video of mine that's truly doing very well. It's not only about the niche, but also about research, thumbnails, titles, etc.
@@chantewalt Yeah you are totally right about the research and thumbnails stuff, this one is clearly your best performing video because this is related to what I'm referring to and it's looks more credible coming from you. One of your videos is "How to get 1000 subsribers and you yourself have 360 subsribers, so I feel that sounds less credible, I hope yk what I mean. And if this is your niche then I'd recommend watch the outlier contents of channels in similar niche and make something similar and if one of your videos gets viral then you'll grow quickly. And lastly try to make more shorts as they have more chances of getting viral. I know I'm no expert but I do a lot of research on this topic, so this is my two cents on this thing🙃
@@imtiaz9khan yes, absolutely😊. It definitely has to do with cerdibility. The reason I created the "how to get 1000 subscribers" video is because I helped my client reach that milestone. As I mentioned she now has more than 7000 subs, and so I try to share the tips that I used to help her grow. But, doing it this way (by sharing my own UA-cam journey instead of only my client's journey) is a lot more authentic and relateable. I'm going to be sharing the ups and downs. Thanks for the tips! I hope you also find success with your channel😁
I completely agree with this. I have been actively on youtube for like 7 months. My views on youtube keep stacking up from things I posted 7 months ago. So whoever is doubting themselves don't give up on your dreams :)
Yes, it is! I think it only starts getting easier once you have a couple thousand subs and start stacking up the views😊 But, the only way to get there is to keep going!🤗
I can relate very well and yes, if you have a regular job and starting out as side business it is really challenging to stay consistent. Its basically the time is running out too fast and before you notice you are already behind schedule :D
@@Pauls-travel-adventures this is SO true!😂 I struggle a lot with consistency. But, I think once I let an editor edit all my videos, it'll be a lot easier to stay consistent.
Hi Chante, I must be that woodworker you were talking about! 🤣 I'm actually a fulltime UI/UX designer and manage a team of designers. But I also have a hobby of woodworking. I started my channel a year ago in April, and did about 5 videos and just stopped. Many things were an issue. I was working out of my garage, so I had to work mostly in my driveway, but once June came it started getting too hot. Plus, I think I was putting my energy in the wrong place. So I stopped and waited. Once April 2024 came, I was renewed and more determined to do this, but I wanted to take a different approach. So my new "1st" video concentrated on my new plan to first clean out and organize the garage, and make it a proper shop. When I started again in April, I had just around 200 subs, as of today I have 550. I've been trying to stay consistent, post more frequently, and also try different things, like posting shorts, and community posts. I think it all helps, I'm going to try a consistent schedule of Daily community posts, daily shorts, 2 short long form (Updates, behind the scenes) videos and one long form video a week. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the video. I totally could identify with everything you were talking about. Best of luck for your channel! I'll subscribe to yours!!! Thanks!
Oh my gosh, that's incredible!!! Well done for all the new subscribers🎉. It sounds like you're on the right path and I'm super happy that you're following you passion of woodworking. That's what I think until I get 4 views for a short , let alone a video. But when you look at the ratio of views, subs , etc with the big boys, it not that much different. Saying that getting 5k or just under 10k views for a clip, at times doesn't make sense. 😅
I know it's super hard in the beginning. But if you can get UA-cam to figure out who your videos are for, the algorithm will start pushing it out to more of the right people😊 You can do it! Just keep going. - Make sure you include the right keywords (it's not all about SEO, but keywords does help YT determine what the video is about). Include the keyword in your title, description, and also say it in the video a couple of times if you can. - Make your thumbnails super striking and intriguing so you can get the viewer to want to watch more. - Keep your titles short, sweet, and impactful🙂 - Be yourself! (I struggled so long with this one, but I'm pushing myself to just be me in my videos). I hope this helps🤗

I remembered 5 years ago my students said they would like to be youtubers....I told them a youtuber is not a career it's passion its not easy to earn money if you just make a video. Yes being a new UA-camr is hard. I put so much work into my videos but I feel lost in the sea of all the other people who make similar videos. @@djubebe Well done for your consistency and dedication! I know UA-cam can be very hard🙈 My advice to you is to research other channels in your niche. Very nice video and explanation. I just started UA-cam music channel a month ago and loosed my job all of sudden few days ago. 32 subscribers at the moment :) Hope will reach at least 272 subs like you. Well done, keep posting your videos.
Editing isn't always the biggest time sync. It depends on your type of video and how smart you are at the work flow. For example, my gaming channel takes at least 5 hours to record. Sometimes, it can take up to 10 hours. Editing is 2-3 hours due to how I mark edit spots by speaking during the interesting parts and staying silent during the boring parts. I get a 30-60 minute video out of this. I also use ShotCut which seems super fast and easy to learn compared to Adobe.
@@charitycodes yes, this is very true. For educational channels the recording part generally goes quicker because you're basically just talking to the camera. @@Tony_Reilly Hey Tony! So, I spent about $700 on my Canon Camera, $100 on my mic (it's a Rode mounting mic), and about $50 on my ring light and box light. The colorful lights in the background are lights that my husband and I already bought years prior for a birthday party😊. So, in total, I spent about $950. However, I bought it in increments as I saved money. You don't have to start out with all of this (and I recommend you don't wait). In fact, I wish I'd started sooner with the equipment that I had prior to the camera because I ended up wasting months waiting to save up for the equipment.

@@Tony_Reilly My pleasure, Tony😊 From what I've heard and seen live-streaming is a good strategy for building connection with your audience members. That being said, it won't neccessarily help you go viral. As far as I know, UA-cam usually pushes pre-recorded videos out more.
I specialize in boring videos. Earlier this year I posted 12 videos and earned 10 subscribers. Yup, I post disasterpieces for sure. I realized a few years ago that I was making videos to make a person or two laugh. If somebody laughs.....then all is well.
@@BodyBoostRevolution Yes, it is. But hang in there. Keep posting consistently and one (or multiple) of your videos will eventually give you that push you need🔥🤗
So, I've found that while SEO does help, the best approach is to choose the right topics (based on videos that are already doing well on UA-cam) and create enticing thumbnails and titles😊. As for SEO, I use VidIQ to find keywords and try to put my keyword in my title, description, and say it in my video if I can. But, if I can't that's also okay. @@chantewalt I'm about 2 steps ahead of you with my small channel (not this one I commenting from). After 6 months of posts, an outlier viral video pushed me over the monetization threshold - which I think would have taken a very long time otherwise. Now I'm caught in the trap that in about 9 months, I will probably fall below the 4000 watch hours threshold - that is difficult to sustain, with occasional virals. Anyway, having become monetized, there is a new and unexpected problem: getting Google Adsence to function, so I can actually access earnings. This involves being sent a physical letter, through the post, with a confirmation PIN number. If you live in US, it's probably quite easy, but living in a country where the mail can be a bit more random, this is more difficult than it sounds ... and there is a time limit on activation. So that's where I am ... but it's all fun! Gamification of work!
@@DarylBaines First of all, wow, well done for getting past the 1000 subs mark!🔥 Yes, I definitely hear you regarding the difficulty to maintain 4000 watch hours since it can be hard if not all the videos perform well. From what I've seen with my client's channel, a lot of the times it works like a snowball effect. When one video performs well, it often causes the other videos to also get more views - especially if you're using your cards and end screens. Maybe try incorporating more cards into your videos if you aren't already doing it. Also, instead of only relying on adsense, you can try building a business around your channel and sell your own digital products (depending on the type of channel you have). That way, you don't have to only rely on adsense🙂.

As a new UA-camr, I hear you with the money. But even the $500/month is helpful. That's a car payment, or a good chunk of rent. If youtube wants me to post once a week, I can film/edit and upload a video in a weekend and post it. @@BetterNeurodivergentTravel Hey Lisa!😊 I saw your video has almost 9k views. Congrats!!!🥳 Yes, we've got this🤗
This video is the best example to portray the fact that the most viewed content or the most popular Niche on UA-cam these days is "How to grow on UA-cam"

Thanks!

Very true😊 Thanks!
- Keep your titles short, sweet, and impactful🙂
- Be yourself! (I struggled so long with this one, but I'm pushing myself to just be me in my videos).
I hope this helps🤗

Ahhhh no, I'm so sorry to hear about your job. I hope you find success with your channel!🤗 Thanks so much for watching!
Yes totally
As a new youtuber yourself what equipment are you using as it appears to be a very polished setup if I can ask how much did you spend on that setup??
@@Tony_Reilly Hey Tony! So, I spent about $700 on my Canon Camera, $100 on my mic (it's a Rode mounting mic), and about $50 on my ring light and box light. The colorful lights in the background are lights that my husband and I already bought years prior for a birthday party😊. So, in total, I spent about $950. However, I bought it in increments as I saved money.

I don't focus that much on tags, but I basically include different variations of the keyword as my tags.
I hope this helps😁
Yes just keep doing it over time you will be surprised 😊
@@DeTrafficStreetBeatz Thank you! Well done with your channel growth! You're doing great🥳
Thanx I am a singer ❤and it’s incredibly competitive! Lots of work as each video is like a small film 🎥 but like your advice to simplify some of them ❤️💃🎶good luck on your journey 😊
@@HiDay-Songbird Wow, you have such a beautiful voice💜 I know the singing industry is very competitive. Good luck, I'm cheering for you🤗🤗 And thanks so much for your support😊
good luck
Thank you!!!😊
Question: Is this your channel? Or do you have a principle channel and this is for commentary?
It seems bizarre how many channels are now totally dedicated to how to make channels - very meta.
@@DarylBaines Hey Daryl! Yes, this is my main channel. I created this channel after being a freelance blog writer and content creator for 5 years. I've helped my clients achieve great results with their content and am now ready to build my own business with UA-cam. This channel is all about my journey to shifting from freelancer to full-time content creator and the things I learn along the way😊
@@chantewalt I'm about 2 steps ahead of you with my small channel (not this one I commenting from).
Thank you for sharing these things. Unrelated but I was wondering if you’re from Germany? It’s one of my favorite countries.

As a new UA-camr, I hear you with the money. But even the $500/month is helpful. That's a car payment, or a good chunk of rent. If youtube wants me to post once a week, I can film/edit and upload a video in a weekend and post it. Doing that every weekend for $500/month sounds like a pretty easy weekend job (that will keep paying over time rather than a job you do once and it only gives you a pay check that one time).
perspective is a great thing to have!
@@jinxthenomad Hey Jinx! Yes, an extra $500 will definitely help me too😂
However, I'm planning on going full-time on UA-cam eventually. For that, I need to earn about $2,500+ per month. So, I'm going to sell digital products in addition to getting adsense from UA-cam😊.
@@chantewalt Of course, more is always better. I would also look at ways to trim your expenses. You could meet yourself in the middle.
@@jinxthenomad Yes, absolutely!😃 I've always been decent at saving money since I grew up in a family where money for luxuries wasn't always available. But, I'm so glad I did because it taught me how to save and spend my money well😊 Keep up the great work with you channel! I'm cheering for you!

In regards to using a freelancer video editor, wouldn't that make my videos "loose" my identity?
@@leeandrews2 Hey Lee! Usually video editors ask you what style you want your videos to be edited in😃 So, you can ask them for a more basic style if you want to.
