Yes, I keep hearing that UA-cam is changing and I’ve been trying to implement the idea of bullet points like you said. Then talk off the cuff because at the end of the day I agree with you, I think people are authenticity, even though they’ll still be a place for retention based editing. I’m a new channel as well so I appreciate it your perspective. One of the things that I’ve noted. Is that most people when they talk about this subject they’re always talking about health or finance, etc. like you mentioned but there’s not a lot of suggestions for workshops/woodworking/organization channels. Because of that, I sometimes struggle to correlate this to a channel like mine, and I’m wondering if you have any specific examples of what I might be able to do different for those that have a Channel regarding woodworking/organization?
@@generalsworkshop I hear you. It's harder to create talking-head videos when you have a more physically-orientated channel like woodworking since a lot of your videos are likely tutorials and timelapses. That said, you could definitely still create talking head videos here and there in between your tutorial videos. Here are a couple ideas: - 5 Ways to Start Woodworking RIGHT NOW (Without Tools) - 7 Years of Woodworking Tips in 7 Minutes - The #1 Woodworking Mistake That ALL Newbies Make You can obviously adjust them based on your experience and what you want to talk about. But, these are just to give you some inspiration. I hope it helps!😊
It's no secret, for a decade YT has promoted nothing but total crrp, while burying actual creative artists and those who create informative documentaries. Talking head videos are the absolute worst. Someone just presses record on a camera and starts run ning their mouth. UA-cam promotes it big time because from their point of view, no copyright issues, nothing creative, just someone looking like your neighbor blabbing to you across a fence. I actually loa the talking head videos now.
@@Δυσνομία I hear you that some talking head videos are definitely crappy. However, I've also personally seen a lot of talking videos that are SUPER informative and have helped me do something/taught me something😊. I think it depends on what you include in these videos. I recently did a video where I talk about how to create good "low-effort" videos. It comes down to your video needing to: - Provide value (educate, entertain, inspire) - Have a unique perspective - Incorporate your personality and/or stories But I definitely do agree that you can't simply pick a topic out of thin air, press record, and blab for 15 minutes. It needs to be more well thought-out than that🙂

@@DreamsandVibes Hey Jo and Lauran!😃 So, this style is a bit more difficult to achieve with a faceless channel since it heavily relies on connecting with the creator. I'd just recommend you get straight into the video instead of letting a clip play in the beginning. @@GLAMGENX This sounds awesome! UA-cam is a great retirement plan😁 I just had a quick look at your channel. And you can create a thumbnail of your face after being made up or of you holding makeup with the words "5-Minute Makeup Hack".

I agree with your explanation and also think that "being yourself" is really important. But i wanted to ask how to hook user to your video without flashy intros or sound effects?
@@RuchirSinha7 So, the way you hook your viewers is determining their greatest pain point or desire related to your video. For example, in this video, I know my viewers are also UA-cam creators who want to stay up to date with the latest video trends. So, I made sure to mention in the beginning of my video that there's a new video trend that's helping UA-camrs get thousands of views. This makes them want to watch further🔥 You can also add the "I tried" aspect to your video like I did here where I mentioned that I actually tried making my video in this style and that it actually worked. So, this makes them want to see the results (which I reveal later in my video). I hope this helps!😊

@@themarekch Yes, having more UA-cam subscribers and views creates more trust with people because they subconciously think "Well, since so many other people already follow this creator, I will too." I like this idea because it seems like a great way to produce videos faster. Unfortunately I don’t see how I can translate this style into the kinds of videos I’m working on right now. I’m writing fictional gothic horror stories and narrating them in videos with time lapses of myself creating illustrations for the story.
@@DearDeadDaze This sounds incredible! I'm looking forward to seeing your videos. Just an idea😊
I'd like to ask, how do you know it's the editing style that got you the views, not the topic? That was a trending topic on UA-cam a couple of months ago, or maybe even still is. Does that video have much better retention than all your others? because this video has lots of in and out cuts and it has way more views than the one you are talking about!
@@spindletreestudiovideos Yes, you're right😊 So the editing style plays a big part of why the video did well. But, it was definitely also the topic, title, and thumbnail😃 Getting all of these elements right increases the likelihood of your video going viral.
Very interesting, but how does UA-cam know what style the content is? Or is it that the audience retention is longer so UA-cam shows it to more viewers than they normally would?
@@NailsBySue Yes, exactly😊. It's not really so much about the style as it is about whether the audience likes the style. In other words, the longer your audience watches, the more UA-cam sees the video as "good", and the more likely it is to recommend it to more people💜

@@_codm_pokemongo_youtuber_ I understand. But, maybe you should just try one video and see what happens? Usually, the first video is the hardest and after that, it gets easier💜

Go and research your niche and see what other faceless channels are doing🤗
Interesting angle however, I wouldn't discount scripting altogether as simply "talking" in front of the camera can lead to a lot of "uhns" and "ahs" which we all do, and therefore increase editing time. Having said that, I do agree that less is more sometimes.
@@leeandrews2 Yes, I agree 100%. That's why I recommend having a basic script with bullet points😊 That way, you'll know what to say and when to say it without having to read a script word-for-word.

This is not new. This is the original way to talk to people in a reportage or documemtary. While fiction was filmed as an elaborate artistic movie by professionals using skilled actors, everyday regular people did not attempt but to be themselves. Such people who have an honest character and a message to convey that is. So simplicity is retro coming back around as you say. Quite interesting. Yep, it's why content creators are fleeing the platform. UA-cam promotes low production value "just press record" amateur videos. Unfortunately, these types of videos do not stand up or hold up to the test of time, because there is nothing iconic about them. There is no reason for anyone to remember... any of them. To find them and come back to them. No song they remember, no graphic images they remember that prompt keywords to look for, nothing.
@@MS-nj9le I do agree with you in some ways😊. That said, more minimalistic videos can still provide immense ammounts of value if they're done right🙂 Talking head videos work really well in the educational industry specifically. My strategy is, good audio decent video and no script. Just tell it how it is. I hate the jump cut flashy vids, they’re a real turn off. Could be age related though, I’m approaching 60
People want the minimalist more now that UA-cam automation is making it so easy to create flashy highly edited videos that feel mass produced. Those fancy jump cuts are getting to the point I feel like it is super distracting. I can watch or listen to a UA-camr with likeable personality talk ad nauseum if they are telling me what i am looking for, answering questions I might have.
It *could* also be that the topic of that video is a trending topic as well, the «How something changed with less that x subs» topic/title - my guess is that even if that video was edited with retention style editing it would have gotten at least as many views -not wanting to throw shade on the achievement though, getting 10k views is *great*, and the video is good so those views and subs are well deserved :) But be careful selling it as «the editing style» did it, cause the topic itself and title format have been exploding for the past couple of weeks over the tube, as well as the «youtubers over 40/50/60» topic/title :)
@@AndreSjoberg Yes, you're right😃 I alsk think it has to do with the topic. That being said, even if a topic is good, if people don't actually watch the video for a certain amount of time, UA-cam won't push it out to more people. So, I think it's most likely a combination of the topic, title, thumbnail, and video style😊
@@chantewalt For sure :) And your vid is plenty good so no problems seeing why it succeeded :) I’m just not sure if the «no edit» style is actually making as much of a difference as people think it does - but it *is* important to see that «no edit» videos *can* do well, since that means less time can be spent cutting and slicing and more time can be spent on coming up with good ideas, good structure and scripts as well as other aspects than crazy edits :) Just like with the good audio, not so great video-quality (ie expensive camera) videos doing well, I think the same principle is valid for content/value vs editing style, the former being more valuable than the latter, which is great news for those who can come up with the good ideas :)

Here are a couple ideas:
- 5 Ways to Start Woodworking RIGHT NOW (Without Tools)
- 7 Years of Woodworking Tips in 7 Minutes
- The #1 Woodworking Mistake That ALL Newbies Make
You can obviously adjust them based on your experience and what you want to talk about.
It comes down to your video needing to:
- Provide value (educate, entertain, inspire)
- Have a unique perspective
- Incorporate your personality and/or stories
But I definitely do agree that you can't simply pick a topic out of thin air, press record, and blab for 15 minutes. It needs to be more well thought-out than that🙂
Thanks for elaborating on that, will try that in my next talking head video. And funny to see your 500 sub video popping up, I also made one, because UA-cam really changed my life ☺

@@DreamsandVibes Hey Jo and Lauran!😃 So, this style is a bit more difficult to achieve with a faceless channel since it heavily relies on connecting with the creator. This is hard to do if your viewers can't see you. That said, the videos that you've created so far are actually very engaging👌. I watched the vision board one and it was very well done. @@RuchirSinha7 So, the way you hook your viewers is determining their greatest pain point or desire related to your video.

That being said, even if a topic is good, if people don't actually watch the video for a certain amount of time, UA-cam won't push it out to more people. So, I think it's most likely a combination of the topic, title, thumbnail, and video style😊
@@chantewalt For sure :) And your vid is plenty good so no problems seeing why it succeeded :) I’m just not sure if the «no edit» style is actually making as much of a difference as people think it does - but it *is* important to see that «no edit» videos *can* do well, since that means less time can be spent cutting and slicing and more time can be spent on coming up with good ideas, good structure and scripts as well as other aspects than crazy edits :)
Just like with the good audio, not so great video-quality (ie expensive camera) videos doing well, I think the same principle is valid for content/value vs editing style, the former being more valuable than the latter, which is great news for those who can come up with the good ideas :)
@@AndreSjoberg Thanks so much, André! I appreciate it😊 And yes, I agree with you about eveything. It's SO refreshing not having to edit the crap out if our videos and waste HOURS😂 Now, we get to focus on ideation and making the content super valuable instead.
Good luck. I have started my journey as well.

I’ve been monetized for 3 weeks. I just BS on guitar and post on my phone. I’ve received 150k views 70 subscribers and a bunch of watch hours 😂Still have no ideal what I’m doing and will never edit more than a few simple things. I’m far too lazy for scripts
@@guitartroll Wow! Well done on you amazing channel growth! You're doing incredible😃😃

@@INFINITE-VERSUS_SHOWDOWN Thanks so much! Your support means a lot to me💜🤗🔥
When creators think they have figured out UA-cam...
UA-cam: you're not even close
Us: we tried doesn't work
UA-cam: told ya, not even close
Us: what about others? How are they booming?
UA-cam: bcz they were already boomig from before
Haha, yes I hear you that it can be very difficult to grow on UA-cam. But it certainly is possible with the right tactics. I've now managed to grow to over 1.4K subs by only posting 1 video per week. I know it's possible even now🙂
Love it 👌🏽
@@kellmarktv Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video😃 Your channel is doing amazing! Really interesting topics and titles. Keep up the great work🔥
I agree😊
So glad you agree🤗 Good luck with your channel💜
I am curious where you from like you say a lot ''Ö'' like if you say Years then you say Yörs, Own is Öön. I'm Estonian myself and i know a know a lot accents but this is new one 😂If i had to guess then i would say it's like Wales mixed with Australian and Ireland 😅
@@TanelSan Lol, yes, I know I sometimes pronounce things a bit funny, especially when I talk fast or get excited🤣 I'm South African😊
@@chantewalt oh right. Then I am heard before but it was softer I guess. 😀 I just thought it's something new but now I feel smart again 😅😅
@@TanelSan Haha yes, South African accents can sound very different depending on the person😂🤣 I think it's because we have so many different languages in our country.
