- small comparison of some of the obvious differences with the evo 8/9 and the evo X. There is a ton more to go in detail between the two but i chose the most obvious things in terms of performance to go over.

People who say the Evo X is a fake Evo or is no longer an Evo because it doesn’t have the 4G63 anymore needs to get over themselves lol that’s like saying the new Ford GT isn’t a GT anymore because it has the 3.5 liter twin turbo V6 instead of the supercharged V8. Cars and technology are more efficient and advanced than it ever was 20 years ago. No disrespect to the Evo 8/9’s. I love them but had to put that out there.

I miss my X, a lot. It was such a fun car. Had grip for days and days. I will get another one someday.
I got some of that sound deadening sticky material and I'd cut a little strip and hold down wires and put space between pieces under the doors and trunk. Took a few hours but 1000% improvement in rattles

Drove my car for the first time since sending it to the builder this past weekend. FBO, built shortblock (manley ibeam/wiseco HD pistons 9:2:1/dry sleeved), S1 cams, MHI18K ported and coated, Radium fuel system front to back bought the catalog, Tial QRJ, AMS almost everything, tons of MAPerformance parts, ID1300X injectors w/WB450 E85 pump. Just driving the 91 tune, was incredible. I will be picking it up this Saturday after the E85 tune is done. Fricken STOKED. And its Raw AF now.. You weren't kidding about the money. Its a 500whp build, with a lot of rejuvination parts unnecesarry to making power added..over $20k.

I wanna go off topic because most topics are about driving and performance, lemme talk about Practicality. Which has a better legroom, daily drive, long range driving, larger boot space? I KNOW most ppl who obught them wont care but i would love a evo that can do jack of all trades

I’ve got annoying front window rattles and I’ve added felt all around the sides of the windows with no luck. Also when I press the door lock button it makes a weird mechanical squeaking noise

I have had my evo 8 for ten year. I just love the rawness of the car. I have yet to autox it. I would love too, but I’m not sure how the fp black will do. It’s definitely not the best for long trips with the transmission gearing and the gas mileage. The evox is more street able. You got all your necessities cruise control, TPMS system,and etc. But power for power, 4G63 ftw.
surprising to most older gen owner...the X makes more power mod for mod. Handles better. Has better MIVEC, and SAWC. Its a Evolution, from the IX.

Do you have a Type R? How’s does it compare to an Evo?
@@mattaue stock for stock, the Type R is a lot faster than the X from 3rd gear on. The Type R builds speed and pulls all the way to redline unlike the evo. It feels more agile through the corners due to it being lighter and has less body roll than the X. The X is more fun to drive tho because get you more feel through the shifter and steering wheel, but the Type R is a lot more comfortable with a much better interior. The R feels more special to me. You don't have to mod the Type R unlike the evo to make it fun.

@@shaylatheusmartin3341 this is my first FWD car. I’ve been driving Evos what feels like forever. Eventually I’ll get another AWD car but I’m keeping the Type R. I’m not necessarily crazy about FWD either. The Type R is such a good car tho. I would recommend driving one first. Unless you care about 0-60 or need AWD for snow, I recommend it. But yea im not getting another FWD car think this is it for me.

Yeah unfortunately they just melt the car at like 350-400whp I’ve seen more people blow their car up at that power than my friends making over 670whp stock block on a big turbo tuned by Jon
Idk, theres a few tuners in the northeast that have some decent running 10s also in florida a few different tuners have also put together some nice 10s.

Eh not really we have a few cars making over 700whp at the shop that have been living for a long time some are even daily driven and race every weekend

When do the transmission start to go out for the evo X?
there isnt really a time line just depends on how you are with servicing it and how its abused some cars last longer than others but ive seen the X withstand 700hp consistently with no issues at the shop i go to
Mine died after 19k. Full rebuild needed (SST trans).
My GSR trans is still great from 2011 to now. 56k miles while modified on E85. I switched from OE trans fluid to the Redline "cocktail", much better all the way around even makes it shift gears way more smooth. But i change that fluid once maybe twice a year depending on use. Cannot skimp on maintenance if you want to keep it running well. Same with all my performance cars really.
New chapter opening though for mine, just getting a bump to 500whp this week, final touches on months long build. But the trans is solid. Its pricey but the Exedy HD twin is fucking awesome...really worth the $1709 I paid for it. Every penny.. but its chattery as all multi-disk clutches are.
All the new cars has rattles. It’s all cheap plastic. I had an sti that interior rattled a lot. And was soooo annoying

If you rev your stock bottom 4B11T to 8500rpm you will eventually break it! not good advice
depending who tunes it theres a guy who goes to the shop bought his evo new with 10 miles back in 2013 on it and went 64mm turbo cams/springs e85 in the first 1,000 miles and made 670whp and still runs with 103k miles stock bottom end never opened up thats been revving 8500rpm since. Generally speaking you are not wrong though

Depends on what u want the Evo x power and gearing is way more linier. The evo9 is more raw but feels cheaper as far a interior and feture.

It's better if you have MONEY.
Translation, the older cars with wider aftermarket support are cheaper to mod since they've been out a lot lot longer. You're going to find everything is cheaper except rare tuning company boutique parts no longer made. But that goes for both.. an ARC intake kit costs more than a turbo now.
But please, its fair to say that if you want to modify either car to 400whp or more its going to cost you regardless. Built shortblocks cost similar. Built heads cost similar. Cams/injectors/fuel pumps...etc. All very similarly priced. You're not going to save like $10k off a 500whp build going 8/9 over an X. Still gonna need them pockets full.
The Evo X is not an Evo. The IX was the last and best Evo.
