When i first watch this series i though Reinhard and Kirchies relationship will never be same again after their fight but he dead instead what a way
Key differences to me seem to be that the colours are slightly warmer and less bright in the DVD version, the image as a whole is a lot clearer, and most importantly, the emotions on the DVD faces are done 1000x better than the laser disc version. Strangely enough, the faces in the DVD version remind me a lot of the art of the comic artist John Romita Jr. Am I the only one that sees this similarity?
I mean you can see the laserdisc version the style is still heavily early to mid 1980s drawing style. Yeah, from what I heard the company that did the last two seasons had to redo some scenes for home releases because they were either incomplete, damaged or missing. So it's just sprinkled throughout the first two seasons in really weird cuts back and forth.
There’s some things the remake does better in this scene. There’s other things the original does better. Why can’t everyone stop pretending like one is obviously better than the other? So childish.
Its not on this scene but I would like to talk about oberstein's phrase "when the light deems dont the shadows too?" a bit later. Yeah I may not remember it word to word but the message is the same. Many people think that oberstein refers to Reinhard as the light and Kircheis as the shadows. Its true that this kind of depiction matches their relationship as it is depicted in the rest of the series. But something doesnt feel right here. Oberstein says that the light dims. So he implies that Reinhard is starting to fade? And that Kircheis death is a result of that faiding? From where oberstein concludes that? Reinhard at this point is at the peak of his power. This also means oberstein feels doubtful. But we continue to see him serving Reinhard to the best of his abilities. You think Oberstein is the kind of man who devotes himself to a man whose abilities he questions?I dont think so So what is going on with this phrase? Oberstein is a clever man,to say the least. He knows,he sees and he understands Kircheis and Reinhard bonding I believe that with this phrase he refers to Reinhard as the shadows and Kircheis as the light. Why? Because he understands that Reinhard is the light to the world but Kircheis was Reinhard's light(this is clear regardless of your interpretation of theor relationship). In the end what I believe Oberstein wanted to say was that now with Kircheis gone(the light) Reinhard's emotional stability is at question(which is confirmed later on the series) so Oberstein wonders how far Reinhard will be able to go now that he is broken(dont the shadows too). Because now Reinhard is a shadow,a ghost of his old self.
Wow. The admirals are incredibly incompetent when it comes to even basic first aid. Mittermyer barely looks to be applying pressure on the neck wound, NOBODY is applying pressure on the chest wound, they all stand around with few doing anything constructive, and they pretty much give up on trying to save Kircheis in under a minute. They should have chucked the corpse off (It might have hurt sensibilities, but better to try and save a living man than be considerate to a dead one), put Kircheis on it, then sped it out to meet any medical personel who'd be rushing to the place, while one or two others would keep pressure on the wounds. Yes, Kircheis probably would have died anyway. But people have survived otherwise-lethal wounds when taken to medical facilities quickly enough. As slim as the chance was, it was better than the ZERO chance these guys gave him by giving token aid and then promptly giving up. Yes, it made for a dramatic scene, but it also made everyone in the room look like morons.
Indeed I always hated their inaction. No first aid administered, no medical feats even though it's well into the future, idiotic attendants standing still , watching Ansbach leisurely open the coffin and take out the gun and utter his insolence and wrestle with Seig! And why was Ansbach admitted in the hall unaccompanied by guards? And why wasn't his ring confiscated beforehand? Whose responsibility is all this security failure and why didn't we see punishment? This still hurts even after all those years..

Why did they change it , it’s perfect as it is , I notice many scenes are redrawn again staring from episode 14 or 15 , the remastered scenes are a turn off, so different in color and style , can never be compared to the original 💔
The reason they redrew seemingly random parts of the early episodes is because master copies of the original run were not fully intact, and certain sequences were either lost or damaged to the point that they couldn't be salvaged for the DVD print.

I don't like others, like Whalen, the new version of Eva's eye design. But the spaceships, the backgrounds, the architecture, the uniform design, the use of 3DCG in the battles and not much else, the soundtrack. Yeah I prefer it. The voice actors are all top tier and most of them are trying to stay in the vocal register of the OVA, which is awesome. Now, if you told me they should have taken the original characters, use the recent style and make half and half, okay... But saying it's YAOI style it's being purposely anti change. Every subsequent version beyond the Laser Disc release used the redraws. They specifically redrew scenes throughout the show because the originals were too damaged to transfer to higher definition.

There’s some things the remake does better in this scene. There’s other things the original does better. Why can’t everyone stop pretending like one is obviously better than the other? So childish.
I have that flashback from when I was a kid and watched the Lion King and Simba's dad died.
You think Oberstein is the kind of man who devotes himself to a man whose abilities he questions?I dont think so
So what is going on with this phrase?
Oberstein is a clever man,to say the least. He knows,he sees and he understands Kircheis and Reinhard bonding
I believe that with this phrase he refers to Reinhard as the shadows and Kircheis as the light.
Well both are amazing
They went full Kurosawa blood on the remaster lol
因みに、原作者はキルヒアイスを死なせるには早過ぎたと後悔したらしい。
both looks good .
Left looks better but right has less animation hiccups and QUALITY.
左が良いかな
2:56 the amount of blood in the bluray is unnecessary and takes away from the scene.
Oh man the scream at the end got me good. In german it sounds like KirScheiße which sounds like the german word for shi** but with a KIR
0:30 it took them 20 seconds to react.
I prefer the left one.
The right one has bad contrast on my OLED and I like the style way more.
TBF, the remake isn't bad as it does add small details (4:20) like facial expressions likely helped by technological advancements.
Tech and time, likely. They were still using cel animation when the redraws were being made and they weren't in as much of a time crunch afaik
@@lyonface7201 Too me the remaked scenes itself don't look that bad but seeing it constantly switch between 2 different styles is really jaring.
The drawing is better (and smoother) in the DVD, but in the original the drawing is more expressive (imho).
@@rkab2014 Okay, so I wanted to hear some opinions about logh from somebody like you and OP (cuz every logh comment section just hypes it up sooo much and I'm hesitant about watching 100+ EPs). Is the show actually worth it...?
@@samuraijosh1595 Most defenetly, but there are some apsurdly stupid scenes such as this (mostly in season 1). But all in all show is masasterpeace and deserves to be seen at least once.
Do watch it. The dedication of its makers, the story and the beautiful character design are all worth looking at. You will also find the topics and discussions relevant to our day. Smth to ponder.
@@rkab2014 Wasn't Oberstein responsible for overseeing the security at Geiersburg?
This is like Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony
Vegeta's VA. :O
LOL
Why do people always forget Oberstein lunging in front of Reinhard?
Both versions have their pros and cons, although overall I think the DVD edges out the Laserdisc overall
2:15 What is the name of the song?
1 year late, but I believe this is the song: ua-cam.com/video/sJw0slhUWek/v-deo.html
It was really weird to watch this show and see the coloring style change every single time
historians would later on describe them as a very good roommates and their bromance would be the stable for all future platonic male friendships
Where can I watch the dvd edition online? I only found the laser disc version
This is the spoiler of spoilers dude
How many times has this show been remade? 3?
1-Me gusto mucho mas la primera escena,
2 siempre pensé que kirchiaes los traicionaría cuando murió me sentí tan tonto
Sabes que música suena cuando muere kiecheis??
I like better the right side one.
Which version is it?
The original was so much better. The broken arm was stupid and unnecessary.
i would prefer the original one.
Blu Ray collectors edition is best ;)
It's too bad I can't drop $800-$900 on an anime boxset 😔
@@lyonface7201 Returning here now to confirm that Blu Ray edition is NOT the best and the translation SUCKS and they do not do the Aesthetics of putting titles over people. I have not opened mine from the box yet and i am HAPPY I didnt!
@@lyonface7201 Just sold mine for ALOT of money xd
Reinhard looks so much better in the DVD version. He was always cool and collected until this scene, where he makes expressions he's never shown and never will show afterwards.
I like Laser Disk better.
did they reanimate the blu-ray version? because it looks like a 90's compared to the Lazer-Disc's more 70's aesthetic
The DVD version is the standard, so it's what the Bluray used.
Laserdisc. Not even up for debate.
Where did you get the old version?
Central Anime has the only digital version of the Laser Discs to my knowledge. I unfortunately don't have a link I can provide for it.
Oki :-)
Earlier this year I downloaded the Central Anime version from Nyaa.si
it seems it's still there but has very few seeders
the quality isnt that high, with it being a rip of Laserdiscs, which arent that great, also I can see that they felt like it needed a remaster in some places. still, it's there if you want
1:25 3.
The art in the remake and the emotions of characters are way better.
But the blood gushing is such an exaggeration.
You mean the 2018 version? If so, you're trippin kid! The male characters in 2018 version look like Yaoi! Their eyes are bigger, their chin is sharp and pointy. The female characters in the 2018 look like teenagers even though they are supposed to be mature women but no they made the 2018 the anime with typical art style nowadys. It sucks!
@@erenyeagerist7681 You do you. I like DNT. I like the overall art. I like most of the characters, especially Reuenthal, Mittermeyer, Yang Wen-li and Schönkopf...
YAOI is a story telling category, not a drawing category.
All of you DNT haters are being extremely disrespectful to every single artist involved in this production.
It's Two Cakes, my good people... Now one is telling you to stop loving and watching the classical version.
@@erenyeagerist7681 you really want to die on that hill original logh has more homoerotic undertones compared to the remake you dumb@ss.
Which version did the Blu-ray use?
Every subsequent version beyond the Laser Disc release used the redraws. They specifically redrew scenes throughout the show because the originals were too damaged to transfer to higher definition.
Wait the laserdisc had subtitles on it? How did you get it to show up while playing the disc
The laserdisc version is the rip made a long time ago by CentralAnime, who also supplied the first fansubs online for the entire series, that I'm aware of. Both versions have fansubs, but I only kept the laserdisc version on.
Does the DVD version have the same amount of episodes?
Yes, as far as I'm aware it's not missing any content.
DVD's the best version anycase both better than DNT
ラインハルトの表情の差が大きい。
og is better
我看的银英是假的。
