配信観てて急に絵柄変わったと思ったけど、訂正後の方だったのね。訂正前の左の方が良いんだが

これ見比べたかったやつです。ありがとうございます！LD版の演出で、もう少し綺麗にすれだけで良かったのにと思います。DVD版は綺麗だけど、変更しすぎ。キルヒアイスが最期の力を振り絞りラインハルトと話すシーンは、視線、表情の変化、やはりLD版がしっくりくる。DVD版は死に際なのにキルヒアイスの視線が妙に定まっていて、とても違和感じました。新しく作り直しても必ず良くなるものではないと思いました。

因みに、原作者はキルヒアイスを死なせるには早過ぎたと後悔したらしい。

Seeing these videos makes very confused. Here the DVD version is shown w/ no subtitles, however the one my brother and I watch is the DVD version & has subtitles

Unfortunately, series 2 must have had major budget cuts compared to the first series because a lot of the animation in the middle episodes was pretty bad and needed rework. The obvious switching between the old animation and new animation in the remastered version is really distracting though.

How many times has this show been remade? 3?

The original was so much better. The broken arm was stupid and unnecessary.

The drawing is better (and smoother) in the DVD, but in the original the drawing is more expressive (imho).

キルヒアイスが臨終の間際に肩で息をしていない、焦点の定まらない目をかっと見開き一番伝えたいことを言う、この2点のシーンがないのが許せない。

The amount of times the animation style changes in this one scene is borderline comical, I remember years ago I made a video that counted every time it switched between the hand drawn and digital art style and what I found is that it changed art styles 30 times in a matter of 1 and a half minutes or something stupid like that in this scene. I think what is annoying is the redraw scenes actually look pretty good in their own right but the fact it changes art styles so frequently is really off putting.

Which version did the Blu-ray use?

The redrawing in the DVD was much needed. But further editing can help bring the best of both in done correctly.

I like Laser Disk better.

I prefer the left one. The right one has bad contrast on my OLED and I like the style way more.

I wish that we had a proper collector's edition of this, from a company that actually cares about something more than jacking up the price and calling it a "collector's edition." If someone like Arrow Films or Criterion Collection grabbed this show, they'd actually work to get as many of the original frames used and restored as possible. A company that cares would make the price worthwhile.

did they reanimate the blu-ray version? because it looks like a 90's compared to the Lazer-Disc's more 70's aesthetic

Yes, I am heavily biased in favor of the OVA, but I think the OVA wins this round pretty easily. Some small details in the OVA version really give it weight, like the look of utter hatred Reinhard gives Mittermeyer when Mittermeyer tells Reinhard Kircheis is gone. For me, it really drives home the fact that despite everything Reinhard really was up to that point just the blonde brat coasting on the Kaiser's favors and his enemies' incompetence. First time he's confronted with a real setback.

An off topic: it's very goofy how everyone asside Reinhard, kircheis and oberstein react at aunsbach action but i like to think that to us it take a while the whole scene but for them, it was just an instant. Just like how in dragon ball, frieza and goku fight only lasted 5 minutes to them but for us it takes hours

Both versions have their pros and cons, although overall I think the DVD edges out the Laserdisc overall

The art in the remake and the emotions of characters are way better. But the blood gushing is such an exaggeration.

Does the DVD version have the same amount of episodes?

Reinhard looks so much better in the DVD version. He was always cool and collected until this scene, where he makes expressions he's never shown and never will show afterwards.

This scene caught me off guard. I'm just watching the show for the first time, but wow I did not see this coming. Kircheis was my favourite character next to Yang, now I'm down one lol. I am curious to see where the story is going to go from here. The loss of Kircheis is definitely going to be a big deal for a long long time to come I think. The version I'm watching had the redraws so I was sort of wondering "why do things look cleaner/different? Is something important going to happen or did they just get a bigger budget here?" I find watching this that there's stuff I kind of like in both versions. I know there's some comments saying the same thing, but I really like Reinhardt's expressions in the redraw and Kircheis' face as he's dying in the original.

They went full Kurosawa blood on the remaster lol
