Simple Norwegian is a native Norwegian’s creation, intended to teach you Norwegian with some pretty simple and easy to follow lessons. The channel offers resources to learn vocabulary, grammar, and give an idea of what normal daily conversation might be like for Norwegians. I genuinely hope you enjoy the video series and that it helps you learn a lot.
Man, I'm a fan of yours. Please, don't stop doing videos, please.

I love that voice crack
I always coming back here as I couldnt find any better teacher for Norwegian!😃
I've always been fascinated with Scandinavian countries and now that I've just come back to my home country (Italy) I missed those amazing places so much. People were well mannered indeed and everything seemed so well cared after!
I liked Norway the best because of its diverse landscape and I decided to learn the language to come back again and be able to converse freely with natives.
Thanks for making this video series!
Love the fact you give slang variations, it's very helpful, subscribed.
So I am learning my own language in English...
👍
Time well spent
Funniest comment I've seen so far! Love it!
Jeg vet ikke! Jeg er fra Norge, og kommentaren din er så morsomt!!
Lmao I also do that. I watch videos about learning Serbian in English for literally no reason.
Finally i got this channel ✨
I really interested learn Norway language. Greeting from Indonesia 🇮🇩
Wow veldig bra
This guy is maybe the easiest person to understand Norwegian. I like his videos of the "Man on the Street" interviews, but PLEASE keep helping us learn norsk!
I found myself muttering all these words, writing them down, and visualizing them to help my learning. You have a gift of teaching and I am glad that I stumbled across your youtube channel. Time to have some mind exercises 😊
The misused flower name Rose and nature term mar (in Mary) must be edited out and changed. Flower / nature terms cannot be misused in names, which is beyond disrespectful to flowers / nature... Such names only reflect me the pure being (the opposite of womyn) etc!
Here's a traveler interested in learning languages and heading to Norway tomorrow. It's a fascinating experience learning the basic sentences in your video!!
1:36 Understood "Thanks, fascist!"
whahahaahahhaha thank you for that bookmark whahah XD
I had a fun time pointing this out to my Norwegian friend, hehehe
LOL
I hear" Talk for shist". Maybe they used one of those robot boices a year ago, eh?
@@itukuppoo4280 no, he actually meant that. He translated "takk" to thanks, then just let "for sist" not translated.
Adjø sounds like spanish "Adios" but adios is not only used to say bye for a long time, I always say adios even if I'm gonna see you in an hour😂
Also adieu in French
Adieu is french
Arrivederci
TSCHÜSS
goodbye au revoir adios, goodbye au revoir adios ... (whispering) goodbye au revoir adios! Daa da dan da dan da dan duh da da da da da da daaan XD
I will become your student from today

Tusen takk, I really need your channel ! It helps me a lot to pronounce correctly !
Thx for the lesson!!! It was so useful !!
"How's it standing", lol
I feel like it's a more appropriate way to ask people about their lives at the end of 2020 than "how's it going"
Tusen takk 🙏
Thank you for making it simplest .finally i found tremendous teacher..keep it up
That’s amazing! Thank u for the lesson😍
This was a good lesson. Thank you. Hadebra og vi sees i morgen.
In English we've adopted the word "farewell" to be used in the same way :)
Farewell wasn't adopted. It's a general Germanic word. Other Germanic languages have their own word for it. Just because you find a similar word in another language doesn't your language adopted it.
@@dcfreak23 Well it appeared in one of the Germanic languages first and was thereby adopted by the others.
So long, farewell Auf Wiedersehn, goodbye!
I'm from South Korea.
Your video is very helpful to me.
Tusen takk
Brilliant videos! Thanks! Norwegian is a beautiful language. Plus, I've heard that Norway is a wonderful country.
It is a wonderful one
I am from Iran, you are great, thank you so much

This video is so helpful! Takk
Tack för det.
Tusen takk...hope I could learn more...
Oh thank you so much it’s really helpful 😍
Amazing method , to learn Norwegian , thanks
I found your videos VERY useful... I'm learning Norwegian since 2018 but now in English
As a Spanish speaker, I used to learn it in my own language... but is not that fun as I do in English
That also helps with my English
Hey! thanks so much for your great work l! I am moving to Norway in August in order to study a master so this is really is useful right now! Greetings from Colombia.
2:13 this reminds me of the german phrase "wie steht's" which is literally translated as "how's it standing?" but means the same as "how's it going?"
Tusen takk
Excellent presentation.
In japanese, we also say Takk for sist -ish for greeting! Your video helps me a lot, we dont have many paper based resourses for norwegian. tusen takk
Love your voice ive been listening to you for days lol
From Poland🇵🇱
Thanks for these videos. I really love this scandinavian country and I'm interested in it so i want to learn basics of the language. You should continue this series, we want more. Subscribed.
I am the only being reflecting pearls and seas, and love only exists for me the only lovable being! The misused precious / big / nature terms pearl and sea and love must be edited out... The term like should be used instead of love.
wow, super cool , easy and helpful
My daughter is studying at NYNU I will be visiting her in Trondheim at the end of June. Really appreciate your videos! I’d love to take you for a cup of coffee or something as appreciation for your work.
Hallo from Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 Tusen takk for your lessons❤
You know Thor Heierdal from Norway? He claimed there was a relationship between Azerbaijan and Norway, that Azerbaijani people went to Norway or something, that our gods actually was Azerbaijani people or something like that, I am not sure I believe this, but it is a funny thing to know
Well , I'm so excited for your videos you are amazing
There are a lot of variations for just one sentence omg, nice videos, I'm ur student since today
Thanks sir ma'am ❣️i love Norway 🇳🇴
Takk fo videoen
Thank you
Thanks
As a Norwegian, I really wanna shed light on something; learning variations of words is not at all important! Although, if there’s a slang version of it (like “halla”, or “hva skjer’a?”) and you plan on learning it, I’d recommend learning at least one of the normal words.
5:18 "senere" sounds like sayonara haha
Exactly what I thought!
It very nice job.keep it up my hero.
Thx alot
Takk!
If you have enough energy, spare time, will always win if study any language.
Yikes! That’s a lot of ways to say goodbye. I’m glad I found this channel, though. Duolingo only taught me the “ha det” goodbye.
We Norwegians mostly just use «hade». It’s very rare that we say something else. Just «hade!» or «hade bra!»
We are going to Norway in 5 weeks for a wedding. I grew up around a lot of people who spoke both English and Norwegian and remember more than I thought I would!
Hei, velkommen back op channel deg.🥰😂🥰
thanks
very good video, as far I can see this language is far easier to learn than learning German, keep posting these useful videos
Yes it is!
Also easier than Dutch, the Norwegian grammar is closer to English.
Tnq sir❤️
1:30 Coming from english, it sounds something you would say to your pet XD
Hi
Sammen means semeni in my language and it's about people , or better say Your relatives or Country man
We say 'hei tu?!" Means hei you
The pronunciation for takk for >>sist
great video, I'm curious about all the germanic languages, including norwegian
The bonus word reminds me to the Norwegian word for an Aed. Hjetestarter.
Hjerta for deg 💙
you just earned a subscriber. hæ alle sammen. jeg er islandisk student og jeg elsk noregi og nordan volk. jeg vill lernen norsk.
Hei, hvordan går det? I am from Canada and also learning Norwegian. Have a good day my friend!
Jeg er fra portugal. Thanks friend from canada
I developed my language
Thanks
These lessons, though simple, are teaching you one of the dialects in Norway, of which there are several. Usually though, you will not be too lost if you speak the eastern Norwegian dialect, as that permeates almost all national television and radio, so all will understand it. These lessons are mainly, in that dialect.
He is clearly from the Mid-Norway area, so not Eastern, but quite similar pronounciation of singular words :) If you copy the tone perfectly, Norwegians will believe you have a dialect but that doesn't matter as it is generally understandable 😉
@@autumnday77b He's from Trondheim. 😊😊
It seems easier than Chinese I think I will try to learn it 😆
Dont get me wrong. I love your videos and I love to learn this language from you! I think you are a great teacher for us!
BUT... sometimes your words sound a bit scary.. like ypu pronounce the english word "goodbye" sooo awesome and soo.. chills xDD
Takk
👍
Lol the Emogi 🙋🏼♂️🇳🇴 it’s hellarious 😂😂 I have some much fun learning from this videos
Susii Macchiavello me too because I understood what you met in under 30 seconds, (I’m American) but good job to you! I wish you the best of luck
People use "Hei" as a way to say goodbye because in french you say "salut" as in "hi" and to say bye in french you can also say "salut"
3:09 Why different pronounciation?
Both are valid
👍👍👍👍
Hallo! I've found your channel recently and have enjoyed the first two lessons and the interviews you did in Trondheim. Will you continue the Simple Norwegian series? I would love to see one on science and healthcare.
On science ?
@@SimpleNorwegian Like on vocabulary relating to anatomy, physiology, plants, hospitals (how to say you're feeling unwell, how to call for emergency services, etc.), and any other practical science related terms and phrases. I haven't gotten through all the videos yet so forgive me if you've already covered these topics.
is norwegian a tonal language?
btw really appreciate this channel 👍
Adjø is found in other languages like Spanish (but they use it to simply say bye) or French (where they only use it to say goodbye if they won't ever see the person again; adieu, à Dieu, to God, as in they'll see each other after death)
Eg er fra Norge!!!!!
Ur good at explaining but my memory is so bad
👍👍👍👍👍
So by saying "Vi sees", Vi meaning "We", does that mean that we (me and you, the person who I'm saying goodbye to) are going to kinda see each other later right? Doesnt have to be right after that? right?
Yes you can consider "Vi sees" as a goodbye, just like "See you later"
@@SimpleNorwegian my first thought was "we" as in "all my components". does "vi" refer to "person A and person B"; or "Person A1,A2,A3..."?
@@oxulucozcan4923 Not sure what you're asking
Hallo.Jeg heter Artavazd.Higgelig.
Love these lessons. However, in the very beginning it says Hey everone instead of everyone (y is missing). Cheers.
And lets instead of let's.
💚💚👍takk
I wish you could teach all the languages.
Hyggelig :) at 4.25, translation must be IT WAS NICE TO MEET YOU based on your last lesson. Agree? or am I wrong? Thanks
Hyggelig directly translated means «nice/pleasant», but in terms of greeting/saying goodbye it can be short for «nice to meet you»
Wassup in norwegian sounds to like "ill snort (cocaine) in Brazilian portuguese. Yep. Im serious.
Vai cheirar? Kskksk mano vdd
adjø sounds exactly like adieu in French. A Dieu (to God, or I leave you in the hands of God)
I need intro song full please i love u
Can you teach me how to pronounce the final sound in Nowegian, sometimes i hear you speak it, but sometimes don’t.
For example , Takk For Sist, I can hear your “t” sound in sist, but in “hvordan går det”, I don’t hear it.
I'm not sure, but I think that when a the "t" is at the end of a word and there's an "e" right before it, you don't pronounce it.
Hi, do you write in bokmål or Nynorsk? Takk!
Bokmål. Nynorsk is far less prevalent
2:16
Can somebody please explain the translation of “Hvordan står det til?”?
Hvordan - How
Står - Stands
Det - The
Til - To/For
That means the sentence says either:
“How stands the to?”
or
“How stands the for?”
How can this possibly mean “How’s it going?”
I’m so confused 🤷♂️
He said it literally means "How's it standing" so probably the "det" and "til" are suposed to be "is it"? I dont know hahaha I'm just as confused as you.
Martina Lechner Thank you for replying, I appreciate it 👍
Det means “it”
