Thank you so much for doing the work to figure out and teach us this knot. It is very clear, well done from someone who is ‘directionally dyslexic’ 😆. This is exactly what I needed to make a lightweight loop handle for a 50 foot long-line dog leash (for teaching recalls). So wonderful to only have one SHORT end to create the knot.
This Wall knot is so much easier to follow than doing the snake knots. I finally can remember and do it on my own without the need to refer to video. This knot it is also not so damaging to my nails as compared to snake knots. Frankly, I can't really tell the end results from Snake knots. Thanks a million!
Nicholas Yap Snake knot is way easier than this one. No nails beaded. You can tie a bracelet with a snake knot on about 2 to 3 minutes, including the crown.
I've always had trouble with these knots, so much so that I made my own video series about them. One can achieve a similar result a few different ways. There are various constructions and various tying techniques, but nearly all of them deploy the wall knot or a close derivative. Check out "Ways to Lengthen a Snake" for a comparison. ua-cam.com/video/nTz_8Cy4spI/v-deo.html
I wish for tutorials like this you would give a rule of thumb about how much to use to get a braided cord that is a certain length, thanks though, great video
Traditionally in Chinese this knot is called Snake Knot. The other snake knot is called Reinforce Snake Knot. Great tutorial, clear and easy to follow.
i have been a bit confused because I first learned snake knot on this channel and later learned this two strand wall under the name "snake knot" in tiat books. so I wondered "tiats way is so much easier, why did I learn this?". but tie several projects with both and you will see they produce a different result. so they seem the same knot, but if the result shows a difference I think they do need to be called by different names. the "reinforce snake knot" gives a much tighter, consistent and symmetrical piece, I have found.
Just to add even more clarification for those interested, a Snake Knot is a 2 Strand Wall Knot. But the word Snake Knot can also refer to a series of "reinforced" or "interlocking" Snake Knots which makes a key chain or bracelet (I like to call them snakes). This method of reinforcing or interlocking 2 Strand Wall Knots is known as the Tibetan method and makes a thicker, less stretchy snake then the one shown in this video. This video consists of a series of wall knots, each stacked on top of another. The difference in methods between stacking wall knots and interlocking them starts with partial doubling. For more information see "Doubling" and "Ways to Lengthen a Snake" found here: ua-cam.com/video/nTz_8Cy4spI/v-deo.html
This is a snake knot . I make mine up the other way than you do which is so much easier to do .I cross the ends and then make a wall knot in the same direction that I crossed them it's very easy
My jbl speaker has a little string and It was Alr in this knot but I untied it by accident but thanks to you I was able to figure out how to re do it 🙏🏼
I'm new to knots, so help me out here. You said the wall knot is a good alternative to the snake knot, but as far as I can tell, tying them next to each other, they are the same knot. You tie them differently, but end up with the same result. Does that make it a 'different' knot? Looking for clarity. Thanks
I really wish you'd filmed it so that what you're doing were centred, rather than disappearing off the bottom of the video. Also, it would have been good if you'd shown how to finish off the free ends neatly - eg, tying the lanyard onto a clip.
Excellent knot. Tightens to a very tight hold. The only caution is to make sure you're butting up knots in series as close as you can as you tighten. Otherwise you'll need a pair of bent needlenose pliers to re-tighten the chain.
Linda Day, Hi Linda, I haven't woven anything for a while now, but what I do remember doing is taking a Foot long piece of the material that will be used and making a few knots, then measuring a few inches, counting how many knots per inch or every two inches then cutting that length and measuring how much material it takes to make that amount. Not every strand is exactly the same thickness that the package said. So... Using a calculator and pencil and paper. You can do a test piece. K x L + F = Total cord amount needed K = amount to make one inch of knots L= Length you want item to be F = enough for attaching to a ring or snap and finishing the ends (usually about two feet for me.) The left overs are made into key fobs or for accent colors on a bracelet. So if you have an 3/8" thick or 1" thick strand you can figure out the length of material will be needed to finish the project. I hope that helps.
This literally is the same as a snake knot, just tied backwards. Calling it a "wall knot" is just adding complications to something that's easy and simple. Because at the end of the day, it's still just a snake knot.
The 2 strand Wall Knot is appropriate because it refers simply to the tying pattern itself (executed with 2 strands). A Wall Knot can also be tied with 3 strands or more. That said, a series of snake knots looks like a snake (and that's simple too). If you care for some further confusion, see the history of the Wall Knot (once known as the Walnut). here: ua-cam.com/video/nTz_8Cy4spI/v-deo.html and here: ua-cam.com/video/a69SxzsiMYg/v-deo.htmlm28s
Your voice is so soothing, tysm!
Exactly the knot I was looking for! Watched a couple of times and got it perfect! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing! I learned the knot easily and it's great for keeping the side laces on a leather jacket nice and neat👍👍

I got this one right first time which is very rare for me.
But that was because of how easy your tutorial is.
Thankyou 👍

thanks for the easy to follow step by step guide.
This was perfect for adding a sort of pull tab to the zipper pockets on my pants. Thanks a lot man!
I found it helps to tie a simple knot at the end of one rope to remind me which piece to start the overhand loop with. Excellent video!
I wish for tutorials like this you would give a rule of thumb about how much to use to get a braided cord that is a certain length, thanks though, great video
Thank you for this video. I needed help to find a new easy knot to finish some projects.
Super easy tutorial, thanks brother.
AMAZING, Super easy and amazingly taught. Thank you so much man :)

Thank you Thomas!

I prefer the knot you mentioned over this one, simply because I like the way the individual knots interlock. Nice video, nice presentation.

If I made a length of rope that was just wall knots down the length, how can I tie the two strands back into the wall knot to finish it off?
Super simple. Thank you. I wanted to make a cool east lanyard keychain with leather cord.
My jbl speaker has a little string and It was Alr in this knot but I untied it by accident but thanks to you I was able to figure out how to re do it 🙏🏼
How long does cord need to be to get 5 feet of finished product?

Nice simple tutorial. Thank you
Thank you! This was so helpful and clear.

Finally I found snake knot which I can use. Thanks.

What it is awsome knot and a nice knot for bracelets................. 🤤🤤🤤
Only one in 2020?

How do you finish it off

You're watching wrong lol
How about making the captions to where they are not right over what you are doing

How is this different than snake knot?
Great video. Thanks very much! 100
It's nice I tried this one it's easy and nice
Is there a formula to help me estimate how much I would need. Like finished length times x equals starting length?
David Donahue -- I too would like to have this info.
Linda Day,
