I've been listening to tool since 1996 and I didn't realise how bad the fanbase was until a group of fans told me, if I don't meditate listening to tool every morning I will never understand the true message in tool.
So last week on Fb and sleep token is better tool just to piss off my out of touch millennial friends. It was fantastic they were heated lol
The true meatriders of metal would argue with each other about any of these bands not being "real" metal.

Unlike Tool however, the actual members of Dream Theater seem pretty chill. It seems like being John Petrucci, and having to interact with the average John Petrucci fan boy would be absolute hell.

Absolutely. Pantera meatriders have it hard, too. They can often be found coming home drunk to their wife and kids after a day of aggressively defending Pantera on Twitter and shitting on other early wave thrash bands.

The TOOL vs Megadeth battle is a tough one, and I do completely agree with the result. But, I am thoroughly disappointed that Megadeth meatridership didn’t have the second-hand bitterness relating to Metallica/Dave history. Megadeth meatriders include a large population of proto-stans a la “Selena Gomez vs Hailey Bieber”- which I do think should have been a factor.

I've come across more Megadeth meat riders and never met a single Tool meat rider. You post a Tool meme only the people who already laughs at your memes will react, you post a Megadeth meme, or say anything mean or on the realm of Metallica > Megadeth and your notifications will get flooded by angry, unbathed, hoe-scaring weirdos and boomers who boast about their battle vest.

I'm 38 but I love a lot of zoomer metal and hardcore bands right along with the OG hardcore and metal from the 90's. some of these kids are extremely talented. anyone here that is a little older and likes heavy music should check shit like DRAIN, Ingrown, End It, and, yes, Knocked Loose out. you will be pleasantly surprised, I promise. don't pigeonhole your music tastes! you're gonna miss out if all you want to do is reminisce about the "good ol days"...check out the new school shit, too!

I’ve gone out of my way, wearing Tool t-shirts, talking to old guys with ponytails, trying to catch these Tool fans embodying the meme, but they usually just end up talking about how they appreciate the humor mixed the philosophy, personal criticisms, the good music etc. And then they’ll start talking about other bands or their own art. The punch line is it’s just projection again. Metal heads projecting? Who knew? Still, I guess it will always be fun to be “ironically” bitter about passionate people. Not necessarily you, just this whole worse fanboy witch hunt thing you know?

My friend is like an rotc type guy. He doesnt do drugs at all and barely even likes drinking and its not like a straight edge kind of thing its more like a godliness type of thing. It makes me laugh so hard that one of his favorite bands is Tool because everytime he interacts with a fan irl they are the most stoner dmt dude ever. Always makes him rethink if he really likes them or not lol. Great video.

Years ago my first day at a job I rode with the owner, he told me his favorite band of all time was tool. I said "ah cool, I don't want it, I just need it!". He was like ahh yeah! You know tool! Then went on for the next hour about how Tool changed his life, hated how everyone who said they knew tool only knew 'sober', how one of their songs had to of been written for his best friend that tragically died from an overdose 20 years ago. The tool memes weren't a thing back then and I hadn't ever met a diehard Tool fan like that. Once the memes started coming out I instantly understood it lol. Its all love though I'm not trying to clown on him, we like what we like I'm not here to think your lame just for loving a band. Tool was clearly going to be the winner here though.

I love how it came down to the two bands I like the most of the starting lineup.
I saw the contestants at the beginning and knew immediately that Tool would win.
Shocked Megadeth didn't take this one. Dave Mustaine is like the patron saint of assholes and is the perfect representative of metal culture cringe himself. Megadeth memes (ironic or not) are also especially good; Mustaine wrote Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets, and presumably Beethoven's 5th, and probably the score to Star Wars as well. Megadeth meatriding combines cult of personality with the worship of poorly defined technicality.

Lorna Shore fans are easily worse, with Gojira it's just genuine enthusiasm but LS fans would literally tell you they are the best deathcore band and the most 'progressive', also absolutely meat riding Will Ramos' vocal ability at the same time. Plus the recent Tiktok crowd it's gained.
Gorjira seems almost more about music “is a statement”, so the so deep part seems spot on. Lorna Shore is more so about making deathcore / death metal more accessible and fun (and they don’t take themselves too seriously). I have to agree strongly with this statement.

Rammstein are acctuelly more popular in Latin america, especially Mexico and Brazil. It's more of a band that almost everyone that's into metal likes in Latam, for some reasson it tends to be the getaway into listening to heavier stuff.

I am an old head (over 30) hardcore fan and I liked the Turnstile album
X2. In the hardcore arena I dont think its anything notable. Stacked up against other punk albums that hit the same level of popularity... Dookie, Smash, Enema of the State... Glow On is a pretty killer album. With the possible exception of On Come the Wolves, I think its one of the most punk albums to gain that level of mainstream recognition.
