I was watching a re-run of Gilligan's island on TVLand along with my adult daughter --- who exclaimed "Gilligan was so cute and funny!!!" I loved this show...
Shows like this are gone and all we have is the junk Reality TV stuff. These folks had class and were entertaining. RIP to those who have passed, Mr Howell, Mrs Howell, Professor, Skipper and the Little Buddy, Gilligan.
I remember watching the series when it was in syndication back in the early to mid-70's. It ran something like 5 nights a week, back-to-back episodes, so you got a full hour's worth nightly. It was kind of a background memory, sort of like the color of the room I grew up in, or the car that was tough to start on cold winter mornings, or the morning news broadcast that we listened to while we ate breakfast before heading off to school. I never pad much attention to it. That was back when I was ten or so. Now I'm 54 and when I occasionally catch it on TV, I have to marvel at it. It was just so light-hearted and the plots were utterly unbelievable that it makes for some great entertainment. I can't get over how utterly beautiful Tina Louise and Dawn Wells were. And the colors on the set were spectacular. I can't recall of any other TV show that had such vivid colors. I sure do miss that show.....
With the recent passing of Russell Johnson, I felt compelled to search out videos featuring the original cast. Apparently this one is the last time they collectively appeared together. Thank you so much for posting this! May those who have passed on RIP.
***** It's been rumored that part of Tina's animosity towards the show stemmed from being second in popularity to Dawn Wells' "Mary Ann" character. It's also been said that Wells was getting 3x the fan mail Louise was receiving during filming of the show.
***** I agree completely. It was a fantastic ensemble cast and Tina did a wonderful job portraying the Hollywood starlet/sex symbol/diva. Maybe some of the characteristics of her role went to her head?
I watched this show religiously after getting home from school in the '80s. Even if I'd seen an episode 5 times before, I took time to watch it and take a lil break from doing my homework. GIlligan's Island was my daily dose of comedy relief. Loved the show!

I just watched all 4 parts to this. It's so cool that they had all of the characters, plus Sherwood Shwartz there! These videos are priceless! Thanks for putting them up. The Skipper and Mrs. Howell looked like they hadn't changed a bit, and on a side note, I thought Dawn Wells was smokin hot! Gilligan's Island is one of my all-time favorite shows. Thanks.

I am 41 years old now and all I watched were re-runs. I loved every one of them. There were a lot of re runs back then. I think i am going to look one up one now (I Dream of Genie .)
I watch 2 episodes of GI each night on MeTV. My husband never watched it, thought it was the stupidest show ever made. Now he watches it with me because it's a lot smarter than what passes for TV today. Skipper's my favorite, probably because I'm a veteran too and grew up by the ocean. They just showed my favorite epi last night when Gilligan turns into a radio.
Actors on iconically popular shows (like GI) seem to do one of two things: Completely disavow any involvement, and bitterly not show up on reunions, or embrace their time on the show and their character, and enjoy replicating (even with graying hair, more wrinkles, etc!) their character on reunions like this. Hats off to all of them, really, for dressing up, virtually, as their characters for this reunion. That shows a love and respect for their fans.

How can you not love Alan Hale, Jr. He seemed so genuinely sweet and full of life! I'm sure he was a joy to work with on the show. It's interesting to see how well-spoken he is here (compared to the Skipper character)! I bet he was a joy to work with! Also, Jim Backus is always so funny in interviews! Loved him on the show!

I like how Sherwood Schwartz agreed with the critics. He said the critics thought the show silly and ridiculous....and they were right. But what magnificent, entertaining silliness!
Typical 80's show time table, Introduce them, laugh a few times, throw in 2 or 5 trivia questions then abruptly end the show just as everyone's getting into it.
Hale Sr. was also in The Strawberry Blonde, with James Cagney, Rita Hayworth, and Olivia de Havilland. His son looked and sounded just like him. A great flick, also worth watching.
I find it very sad that they never got to do that movie that bob talked about in the beginning he seemed so enthusiastic about it to.... :( and this reunion was made just in time it seemed as if alan hale, jim bakus, natalie shafer died just afterward :( RIP
Ginger honestly HATED the series!!! He left a few times and was always brought back - becasue she did not want to be know as "hard to work with"!! I am AMAZED that she showed up for this reunion - she usually does not bother!!!!

Most likely first and last time all 7 castaways together. Amazing 50 years(1964-67) TV Land airs Gilligan's Island. And the critics said it won't last.

At the time, I guess there was no getting out after you signed. If I remember right, they had moved her to LA or Hawaii, which meant she was trapped.
It could be duplicated if writers and people in general had imagination and a work ethic. Its easy as all hell to produce a "reality" TV show but it takes talent and imagination to write a good sitcom.

My favorite character always will be the professor. Besides being a genius, (the only genius 😝) he had smart humour too. Though I love slapstick, I can laugh for hours at the professors jokes. Me and my cousin had an argument on whether SpongeBob or Gilligan's island was the more stupid. I of course said it was SpongeBob. I made him watch a couple of episodes of GI and he joked that they were all as dumb as dirt except for the only one with a second grade; the professor. Good memories. 😊
I understand Tina Louise(Ginger) was bitter after the show ended because of the type casting. She said it ruined her career and she regretted doing it and after this reunion she refused to have any connection with the show.
Robert Harrison I heard she wanted to leave the show. She never did the Rescue From Gilligan’s Island movie from ‘78. That’s why I found it surprising she did this reunion show. Glad she did.

She told by the cast who was the star of the show. Bob Denver at the time was not present on the set This is the reason she refused to appear the reunion movies.
Hard to believe, they are all gone except for Dawn Wells and Tina Louise. RIP, these people were good actors and people!

I find it interesting how each of the cast members seem to have a similar personality to the characters they played on the show.
The episodes had good scripts. It had a good format, cast and that extra special quality that can never be duplicated even today..
