Wow . In 1986 same as this was made 20 years after gilligans island original alan hale jr. visited a local marine sales company on television in phoenix near my house . You could go and see him and talk boats and gilligans island . That was almost 40 years ago .
His laugh was amazing!!! This guy was amazing, i just became a gilligan fan a couple months ago and now it's my favorite show of all time!! RIP: The skipper, professor, Mr and Mrs.Howell and of course Gilligan ♥ Your all in our hearts forever!
Isn't it just a wonderful show? Alan Hale Jr. reminds me so much of my late grandfather, who was born about a year after Mr. Hale. The Greatest Generation, as they are known, was Generation A+ to me, and is/was the greatest generation in many peoples' hearts.
***** I've watched this show my entire life and think of each member gone as lost family members. One of a kind show I was so happy to have been a fan of for so long :-)
+DontrelleRoosevelt I'm not sure the reason of this, but Alan also reminds me of my paternal grandfather (sadly deceased). The show absolutely rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
When we hear Alan Hale Jr. distinctive ''Skipper'' laugh we know everything!! Is all right..Bless his kind Heart...thank you for posting. peace be too all
I miss the days when TBS paid great tributes to the older shows, often hosting reunion-type specials, or just some "wraparound" material (featuring the show's cast members) to show at commercial breaks and between episodes. I remember ones they did with "The Munsters" and "Sanford And Son".
I remember seeing a rerun of this in the early 90s, when I was in grade school and a friend of mine got me addicted to Gilligan's Island. Every evening after school we'd watch Gilligan's Island on TNT or TBS and talk abt it excitedly the next day. Nice memories.
My parents were children when gilligan's island was originally broadcast. I was introduced to the show by them. I am a fan, and have all the episodes on dvd. Rest in peace Jim, Natalie, Alan, Bob, and Russell, never forgotten.
I saw him on an episode of Andy Griffith , where he played a man who was flirting with Barney Fife's girl friend. Whenever he'd encounter Barney he would refer to him as " little Buddy" like he was talking to Gilligan.😊 Also, Alan Hale Jr. had a cameo on a "Batman" episode that featured Vincent Price as " Egg head." He ran a restaurant. In his cameo scene his small part characters name was Gilligan. This episode was from 1968, one year since Gilligan's Island went off the air. Gilligan's Island, 1964-1967.
I love this guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More so, I love the entire show AND cast of Gilligan's Island. It always makes me laugh so hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still wish that Natalie, Jim, Alan, Russell and Bob were alive. They were taken from us too soon. :(
I never saw this before til now😊I seen the interviews from different TV systems over the years when they all were still alive but not this! What a nostalgic gem👍
He seemed like such a sweet guy.......and really enjoyed being "The Skipper", even off camera.....people really loved him for that role. I'm sure that, like the others in the cast, the show hurt his career and kept him somewhat typecast.....but, in the end, it turned him (and them) into beloved cultural icons, known world-wide.
Tina Louise and Dawn Wells are the only surviving cast members around. The lagoon at CBS Studio Center in Studio City, California was drained for more parking space. Now home to both KCBS-TV (CBS 2) and KCAL 9.
Another great "Skipper" turn from Hale was in the 1959 James Garner vehicle "Up Periscope." He's basically the sidekick under sub captain Edmond O'Brien and plays basically the same GI role as comic relief in a tense WWII thriller in the Pacific. Check it out.
Loved the show growing up! Sadly these shows would never be made today! SJWs would never allow greats comedy shows about nothing to be made. Everything now is about being inclusive diverse and having a SJW message. If at anytime in American history we needed a good show about nothing to put a smile on your face and happiness in your heart is now! Thank god we have re-runs and DVDs.
Just wait until the Twitter mob has a slow day and decides to go after non-PC episodes of old shows like the one about the Japanese soldier Alan mentioned. They'll get episodes removed from all streaming services and future disc releases. The old shows are not safe from them.
@4:11 the great Mr. Hale was given mistaken information on his cue card. He stated that the inaugural episode of Gilligans Island was the first and only time that the skipper and the professor's real names were mentioned. But in the episode "Erika Tiffiany Smith to the rescue, I specifically heard Russell Johnson introduce himself as Professor Roy Hinkley.
Btw One time it was the fault of the other 6 castaways that the raft sank the others including the Professor who told them not to bring any gold on the raft did while Gilligan didn't and then he said 'Now that's a switch because usally I'm the only one left holding the bag."Then like before they still all got mad at him anyway and this time by facial expressions of anger.
Good Onya, Alan ! What do those upper-crust, snotty nosed TV critics know about pure escapist fantasy sitcoms anyway? They know nothing! The TV audience had the final say. #LoveGilligan'sIsland 💘 ❤ ✔ 👍 😎⚠
Perfect Ultimate Trivia stuff in here! What was the name of the book the Professor was working on when he was stranded... The full title and subtitle please. ;)
Great stuff when they say a show is terrible you can. be sure it will be a bit ie star trek and remember Gilligan is always on and the people who planned it are long gone
I’m so glad they spent five dollars videotaping these intros and Outros. Boy you would think that a big station like that would be able to pay for something that looked but better than this junk.
introduces his colleagues as the captain he is including dawn from u.w. where I went to school and forgive me but this is rea deal folks see the boats passing in background
I fantasized about Willie Gilligan/Bob Denver griped/complained to the Lord God of Sherwood Schwartz. "WHY DON'T YOU GET SOMEBODY ELSE TO SAIL THE SS MINNOW INSTEAD OF US? WOULD THEY HAVE BETTER LUCK THAN WE WOULD?" That would've been funny.
A wonderful actor . After Gilligans Island it was Casey Jones that I loved him in.
TV was so good back in the 60's. So much better than it is today.

Class act, and always comes across as a genuinely warm person.
RIP Skipper
Gone but never forgotten.
I miss Alan!
Alan Hale Jr Was Such A Good Skipper
Alan, an American icon of many films, and, a staple of the westerns 1950-70's. They don't make 'em like that anymore a gentle, magnanimous man!
His laugh was amazing!!! This guy was amazing, i just became a gilligan fan a couple months ago and now it's my favorite show of all time!! RIP: The skipper, professor, Mr and Mrs.Howell and of course Gilligan ♥ Your all in our hearts forever!

Rest in peace skipper, you a legend, and a great and kind man. I used to to watch the reruns in the 1980s when I was a kid. Rest in peace, skipper
🙏

One of the greatest shows ever

Gilligan's Island, 1964-1967.
Oh yes sure do miss the 80s I remember coming home after school and this was one of the shows I enjoyed watching
He was a giant Teddy Bear.
everyone said he was very nice
Such a delightful gent. So sad when he passed.
OOOOPFF! Thanks alot Gilligan!!!
What a class act.
Nice of Alan Hale to take time out to do that documentary for Superstation TBS.
Great Follow-up!I even recall seeing this rerun on 1/01/1988
He never took that hat off once he became the skipper..that was his life..and he adored it.
Happy Birthday Alan , R.I.P
I never saw this before til now😊I seen the interviews from different TV systems over the years when they all were still alive but not this! What a nostalgic gem👍
💥🌷 Great Upload!!! 💖 LIKED 💥🌷 🎶Happy Weekend!!! :) ♥ Much Love 💕💗💕 Ivana
If Gilligan's Island were food, it'd be classified under "Comfort Food."
I feel like any second he's going to say, "LITTLE BUDDY!"
~RIP Alan Hale Jr.~

This is new to me. Thanks for sharing.
Tina Louise and Dawn Wells are the only surviving cast members around. The lagoon at CBS Studio Center in Studio City, California was drained for more parking space. Now home to both KCBS-TV (CBS 2) and KCAL 9.
Right now, Tina Louise is the sole surviving cast member.
All I have to do is think about Alan Hale Jr as the Skipper and I just can't stop laughing.
Alan Hale Jr. Is the Skipper, and the. Skipper is Alan Hale Jr. No one else can be the Skipper.
Another great "Skipper" turn from Hale was in the 1959 James Garner vehicle "Up Periscope." He's basically the sidekick under sub captain Edmond O'Brien and plays basically the same GI role as comic relief in a tense WWII thriller in the Pacific. Check it out.
I hope finally received some residuals. This show is a part of growing up.
thanks for posting!
Sure he's aged but he still has the easygoing personality he has been famous for

Skipper with a beard
what was that thing about "Gone With the Wind" at 3:59?
RIP

Who could for get Jim Backus in his brief role during the film IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD?
Jim Backus was also in the film, rebel without a cause. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Btw One time it was the fault of the other 6 castaways that the raft sank the others including the Professor who told them not to bring any gold on the raft did while Gilligan didn't and then he said 'Now that's a switch because usally I'm the only one left holding the bag."Then like before they still all got mad at him anyway and this time by facial expressions of anger.

crap this is awesome

fun with ferns
Great stuff when they say a show is terrible you can. be sure it will be a bit ie star trek and remember Gilligan is always on and the people who planned it are long gone
Mary Ann vs. Ginger? Bailey Quarters vs. Jeniffer Marlow? I'll take Mary Ann and Bailey every day
If I where on that island I would be sneaking in the girls hut on a nightly basis.
I’m so glad they spent five dollars videotaping these intros and Outros. Boy you would think that a big station like that would be able to pay for something that looked but better than this junk.
The critic's were wrong
introduces his colleagues as the captain he is including dawn from u.w. where I went to school and forgive me but this is rea deal folks see the boats passing in background

James Harden
they first wanted Carrol O'Connor for the skipper.
Nope..not true. He AUDITIONED for the role, along with others..but didn’t get it..he didn’t make the Skipper “likeable”..ONLY Alan Hale Jr. did that.
Take off your right headphone and that annoying noise is almost gone. :)
