I'm 57 and so wish I could bring back the days I and my mother would watch The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie, our two favorite shows to watch together. I will never tire of these shows. The Walton's, especially always seemed to give me a sense of belonging and peace, being a country girl at heart, growing up in Brooklyn, NY yet never, ever feeling at home there.
I am still enjoying watching re-runs of this wonderful show. The writing was superb and the casting perfect. I am not ashamed to say it's escapism for me. We live in a frightening and troubled world and it's just a joy to take time out for a while and have an hour with this family.
The Walton's to me has to be one of the best family program / shows of all time. We need more programs like this. They all made the show what it was. Take any character away and this show wouldn't have been the same. What this show portrayed most was a strong sense of values / morals with emphasis placed on family and truth all of which is missing from today's shows. Lastly the writter's of this show deserve recognition as well. Thanks for a great family program.
I was born in 1966 and started watching The Waltons at my grandparents in the early seventies. I kind of grew out of it of course growing up, but I come home to them every chance I get. I pray to the good Lord above to keep this show running on the Inspiration Channel, GMC and Hallmark channel. I love this family like they were my own. I learn a lot about being a mother and a wife from Olivia and am reminded of my inner childhood from all the children. Love grandma, grandpa and John Sr. LOVE IT!
I was the 3rd. born (the last), and theonly girl, and with my Father (William "Bill" Harold) 's Father (William {NO miadle name)My Mother was Evelyn, and my two older brothers: Ronald Viicent, and Roger Lee. with only 6 total, and Daddy, and Granddad farmed, NO saw mill. We was NOTHING like the Waltons, but wish we were.
My husband and I are enjoying watching both shows every weekday. I saw them when the first aired but he didn’t. We are enjoying the experience together now. 🙂💞
People need something that is solid and stays together like the Walton family sets that example. Many of us can only dream of having a family life like the Waltons. So that is why we love that show so much. We want to be able to step into our TV and become that life many of us do not have or ever did have. The Walton's have World popularity and is a show that we all need more than ever now and will Never be forgotten.
The Waltons was one of those special and rare shows that involve the viewer on many levels. The cast were superb and brought to life stories which pulled at the heartstrings.
Love Michael Learned! And "John Boy"..;-) This show and Little House On The Prairie were an after-school must when I was a little girl back in the late 70s!
When I really want to escape from this crazy, news obsessed world, I love to watch The Waltons reruns. Their show was about real family values ....hard work, God, neighbors and friends, and more love than stuff! Imagine that ...
I have been watching the Waltons for some 47 years now, and the reruns still make my soul feel centered. Never have I witnessed characters so lovingly created and so magnificently portrayed! I recently toured the restored Hamner house in Schuyler, VA---it is wonderful; a real century-old time capsule, and the docent there is a fabulous repository of information about the series, the actors, and the Hamners, themselves. She is the embodiment of hospitality and welcoming. (Just like a "real member" of one of the families!) There were no "minor" characters on this series; they were all masterfully created and portrayed. John and Olivia, the kids, Grandma and Grandpa, Ike and Cora Beth, the Fosters, each and every character has left an indelible mark on my heart! They are part of my "memory" as long as I live. I love Earl Hamner for creating this wondrous show. If there had never been another series on TV, this show, alone, would have justified the existence of the medium. God bless you, Waltons & Hamners!
agreed. I know that the actors are just portraying a part and the parts were only slightly based on real life--no, Earl's mother did not have polio and tuberculosis, he was actually born in the 20s, not during WWI, and there were 8 kids not 7, but I do believe that the show allowed the kids to have all dimensions. They were good, bad, in between, made mistakes, learned, sometimes they made the same mistake more than once. What's even better is that the cast members all treat each other as if they really were siblings. Well, they spent the better parts of their childhoods with each other probably more than their real siblings so I guess it's only right.
yes, Ms. DeHart, there were a few discrepancies, but the two families existed 30-40 years apart---poetic license. But I strongly believe that this was the greatest, highest quality series in the history of television. Whatever minor discrepancies may have existed, this series was a perfect example of what TV could have been--not Mod Squad or Flip Wilson. The original house, BTW is a wonderful restoration!
Our family was often referred to as 'The Waltons' by family/friends who lived in town or the city. We lived in a beautiful mountain area on a large farm with a lake had five kids (not 7) tons of animals hard working wonderful father strict mother. And we actually said "Good Night' to each other every night. We didn't have much money but rich in many other ways. I feel very fortunate to have been raised in such a way.
I’m only 20 years old now, but my parents grew up with this show and loved it. So, whenever it came on DVD, they bought it and every night we would watch an episode or two.
Muessem this past April. And got to see the real home of Earl Hamner. It was so neat to be able to see the different sets from the show set up..as well as pictures of the cast and the real family members they played. It was such a treat to be able to be that close to a part of the the show.
I truly loved The Waltons. I always love to belong to a big family, cause I belong to a small family. I missed all the shows in the 70's. All in the family, Mary Tyler Moore, Mash, Taxi etc. For me that was the golden age of television.
So True. I'm the same age as "Jason". I still watch The Waltons regularly. Watching those kids grow to adulthood right before my eyes still amazes me. What a warm and wonderful show it was. I feel like I know the Waltons. Part of the family...
Grandes lembranças que passei, quando morava em Toledo no Parana, todos os domingos de manha, ligava a tv e assistiamos esse seriado incrivel....jamais vou esquecer os Waltons,um conceito de familia, baseado nos preceitos de Deus.
The Walton's started out as the 1971 Christmas movie called the Homecoming, I always enjoyed watching it, my late parents, my brothers & myself watched the series that was on CBS on Sunday nights, in the early 1980's it was on Fridays on CBS. Television was a lot better than what it is today.
Really good to see all these guys and all credit to the interviewer who asked relevant questions and actually appeared to love the programme as much as we all did. Remember: a Walton is for life, not just for Christmas. Love from England X
My late grandmother said the same. She was the eldest of 6, raised out in the VA/KY mountain valleys. They had to move to central Virginia when the Depression ended her dad’s job in the coal mines.
I never found that Show - "sugary" it dealt with harsh times, the depression, and Life's Issues.. not much different than 2011. Great show - my dear Dad loved it... now I do too. Great Cast, they look so well. Just bought the Homecoming Movie for Christmas viewing, sharing it with my Family. So glad to watch this clip. Merry Christmas!
The Waltons Family T.V. show brought many families through some very difficult times, as a young married woman , I took time to watch the show. Thank you for the many years of encouragement, to continue on in life.
Thus Show us currently being re-run on the Station True Entertainment in the United Kingdom. I am so enjoying watching all the episodes I watched as a child. I am 52 now, it's great to see the Waltons again as some of the antics remind me of the adventures WE as a Family git up to while we were growing up. I will never tire of these repeats and will always watch them.... Good night John Boy ;)
The waltons left the BEST television legacy with a multigenerational imprint of love on those of us fortunate enough to grow up with them. Setting an unwavering standard of values to lean on as an example. Spencers' mountain by Earl Hamner imortalizes this era...his writtings and this show are one in the same, his recent passing ( 2017) is a reminder of the simpler, more piognant time in America's infancy.
One of my favorite shows of all time. I used to watch reruns on UA-cam, then the copywriters got into a pissing match. No more Waltons on UA-cam. I really miss them. It was a story of hearth, home, family, and overcoming adversity. A story of togetherness and forgiveness, and of love. They just don't make 'em like this anymore.
I used to watch this show as a little kid. The Great Depression seemed like ancient history, before my parents' time and something only my grandparents knew about. In 2014, more time has elapsed between now and the Waltons than had passed between the Depression and the Waltons... Sigh...
At 60 I still love.to watch The Walton's. I always wanted a big family like this, thank goodness I only had three children. The programme had a warm homely feeling that drew you in and warmed your heart.
I am now 102 [Okay well, 54] and I still love watching The Waltons. I come from a big family and loved the lessons and stories that were The Waltons. We all did.
The Walton's is still relevant show even today because of its brilliant story telling, family environment, and great writing. I was born in 1995 and I still watched the Walton's as a kid growing up in the 2000's
Truly my most favourite tv series. I am enjoying watching the series with my husband, who was to busy to watch it when we were younger. Love all the actors. 💞
This was so enjoyable to watch. I loved seeing them chat about all the old times on The Waltons. Yes, I also loved Little House On The Prairie. These two shows are filled with family love.Plus the reruns I watch everyday. These shows are timeless.
charlottesmom I started checking the seasons out from the library and I swear I paid at least 100.00 in fines for not returning them on time!! I quit watching in the middle of season 5 so I'm checking to see if I can find them actually free online somewhere (laughs)
They raised me after my parents divorced. I have been happily married for 27 years and raised two good children following their example of love, faith, values and character.
After my divorce in 2020, my kids and I started watching it. My children tell me everyday, “mommy please let’s watch the Waltons” and I do, because it brings normalcy and brings us joy on our really sad days. Your comment really touched me.
👩💻I love this show. I was from a big family and knew about hand me downs and a wonderful grandpa and grandma I saw every morning and afternoon coming to and going home from school. Having crushes unrequited and being the middle child always to old or always too young. Living in an isolated place and everyone knowing who I was and they knew my parents. We didn't have much, and our food was simple. But I could run and play, pick apricots, and go to the library and dream of a bigger and better life. I was a teenager when this show was on TV, and I identified with so much of the growing up feelings and it was a safe place to go and feel loved and how I wanted my own future family to be. Thanks, Walton's. I binge watch you all the time. I really enjoy the Easter special where John Boy's wife has twins. 🙋♀️😘😳🤗🥰🇺🇲🇬🇧
Greats moments that I lived and unforgettable too !! Everybody living ous lives about concept and laws of God,with harmony, union, respect and love, never forgett Jesus Christ in ours lifes....God bless all the Waltons !!
I grew up in 50 60 70, they’re was 12 of kids, I fell in love with the Walton family the first show. We didn’t have running water in our house the girls slept 3 in a bed, so did the boys, we kept a very clean house. Beds made before you come down stairs. Lived on a ranch so always had cores to do. I liked working outside so I got to help wit the milking feeding chickens. My favorite was sleeping outside under the stars in the summer. We kids were always close growing up, but not so much anymore. I still watch the Walton’s when it’s on.
i started watching this when i was 12 and havnt been able to stop.i just turned 16 and i can safly say iv seen this show more than 100 times for every season.i sadly dont have any of the disks yet but i hope to get them soon.goodnight john-boy :)
This was great.i love the Walton's and still watch it. Everyone should grow up ana smalltown and live a life like the Walton's.loved the meal scenes. Best episode was when John boy went to new York got his book published and was able to move to new York. Missed him though loved the reunion movie where he has twins girl and then a boy. Go Walton's .miss Ralph white.
This is a show that put warm and harmony together. Tough times and in good times, through struggles and giggles it worked it self out. That was the Walton's! It's sad thou we all can't be like that.
Unlike 21st century TV, "The Waltons" were about family, love, dinner @ the table, values & respect: & not about trash, selfies, non-talent rich snobs or mudslinging.
I fackin' love the waltons. I'm only 27 years old and I remember my Mum watching the repeats on telly when I was a kid and I used to hate it. Only recently have I given it a second chance and it's quickly becoming one of my favourite programs.
This might be hard to believe, but they dubbed The Waltons into Afrikaans, so I was all crown up when I heard it in English for the first time. Even in Afrikaans the show was a great hit in South Africa. The phrase "Good Night John Boy" became "Goeie Nag John Boy". :)
brown eyes We were from a very large family, one pair of good shoes for school and one pair of play shoes....we never even noticed because we had so much love inside our home and food on the table and a roof over our heads and two parents who loved us...a mother and a father....and our memories will live forever......all of us watched this show together...now, my mother watches it and loves it...she was too busy to watch tv, cooking, cleaning, laundry and raising 5 kids when it was on in the 1970's, so it's a treat to share it with her now when she's 84 years young....
My sons first name is John. And we would do a John Boy shout out at night.... he's 40 years old, I still do it, even through text. Priceless memories...night John Boy.. love you all for wonderful memories...
My parents were about the ages of the younger Walton kids and my grandparents were roughly the ages of John and Olivia. So they identified with those characters. They remembered many of the major events of those times as they were written into Waltons episodes.
like so many other people who have commented, The Waltons basically raised me. I lived in a home with my grandparents, mother and uncle until he got married when I was 4 so I could connect with the multi-generational living. I vividly remember hearing that Will Geer had died and was just devastated because it was like losing my own grandfather even though he was still alive. In her later years my grandmother strongly resembled Ellen Corby after she had her stroke and it's very hard for me to watch the episodes without the grandparents. Richard Thomas left the series and I missed him but it was natural for him as a young man to leave the area. But when the grandparents died/became only cameos the show lost most of its appeal to me. I still watch it. I own the first 5 seasons on Amazon Prime and the others are available.
they all look great! This brings back such good memories and it is unfortunate that this is now a "lost' era in this country. When what mattered was love, family and people....really sad
I love the waltons grew up watching the waltons now I have it on dvd but I still watchi it on hallmark channel I met Richard THomas in a play got his autograph and he signed my dvds can never stop watching a classic tv show. Good nite John Boy. I liked Eric Scott and Jon Walmsley and wish they put out more reunion shows.
I`m 15 and I was born in 1996 and have just started to watch The Waltons about 2 or 3 years ago. And I must say, it really does make my day watching the episodes because for me, its like a new show and but has the classic family feeling to it. Man to be born on those days (70s -80s) would be a lot better than now. TV these days is just absolute garbage compared to The Waltons :)
Ah, Thursday nights growing up in the 70's (about Elizabeth's age). To me this show resonated so much with us of that era was that while they were going through the Depression, we really were in a very sucky recession, inflation, Watergate, Nixon's impeachment. My dad was laid off from '70-'74, and we were eating USDA cornmeal, corn syrup, and cheese. Blech. Pick one toy from "Santa", etc. We needed that feel good fix. The Waltons looked rich to me with all that good food!
Watched it half a world away on my black and white 8 inch TV in the 70s and not understanding 80% of what they were saying. Guess I was trying to have such a feel-good family. Love the theme song.
I so love watching the Waltons each evening. When they're not on, I feel like I've missed seeing my family. Thanks to the stations that carry this show. Nothing worth watching on TV any more and I am so thankful for this family time.
The generations were much better off for watching wholesome shows such as this and Little House On The Prairie. It's so deflating thinking of how we've gone from great media such as this to garbage like "The Kardashians"......
jojoxx1231 I was born in 73 and I always felt I was born way too late and Daddy (Ralph Waite) was someone I wished was my dad when I was little watching the reruns
thebeastlacey nonsense. Theres pretty good shows on today. Nothing is better than GOT.Wentworth is some of the best storytelling there is. Black Mirror is pretty good too.
Joanie mallen. I just spewed coffee all over my desktop screen when I read your comment. Seriously? Do not compare 1970's TV content to todays. There is no comparison. With the reality shows and real time tv, you can't 'turn the dial' without coming upon such crap. Between the kartrashians, housewives and zombies, quality tv shows are a fading memory. As Cami stated at 3:10 life was very different in the '70's. We had family values would curl up together to watch such shows. Family time. That is not done today. I very rarely watch today's tv shows. Nothing worth watching.
Yip I agree,I loved the show that much I bought them all.
I am still enjoying watching re-runs of this wonderful show. The writing was superb and the casting perfect. I am not ashamed to say it's escapism for me. We live in a frightening and troubled world and it's just a joy to take time out for a while and have an hour with this family.
Watch everyday,100 I still watch

It's a shame they can't make more shows like the Waltons. It was so wholesome and uplifting.
Nowadays, the shows about family-clans seem so different to me......
There was also Little House on the Prairie , how can anyone forget that ? (and it was better too !)
My husband and I are enjoying watching both shows every weekday. I saw them when the first aired but he didn’t. We are enjoying the experience together now. 🙂💞

The Waltons was one of those special and rare shows that involve the viewer on many levels. The cast were superb and brought to life stories which pulled at the heartstrings.
Love this show then and now! The cast is the best!

Great show and great family values, i love watching it today. there is such crap on today does not compare to tv back in the 70's,

Love this show ! Still watch. Keeps you grounded to what's important in life- family
Really good to see all these guys and all credit to the interviewer who asked relevant questions and actually appeared to love the programme as much as we all did. Remember: a Walton is for life, not just for Christmas. Love from England X
Who didn't love John Boy, he was so cute, kind, thoughtful and helpful. I LOVED JOHN BOY💜
Him & Robert Wrightman was in a movie called no other love it’s on tubi & both John boys was in that movie
And everybody else!
My mom grew up during the same time as the show was set on a farm with 8 siblings and she said it was very close to what she experienced.
My late grandmother said the same. She was the eldest of 6, raised out in the VA/KY mountain valleys. They had to move to central Virginia when the Depression ended her dad’s job in the coal mines.

Not alone.
Dave Johnson Me too, absolutely the best TV ever written❤☺ Love them.
It was like my family I love them all and I still watch the Walton today everyday at 7:00
So nice that they still love each other so very much and do see each other once in a while.
They just don't make 'em like this anymore.
that's why the only shows on youtube I can find you have to pay like 2.00 each for!! dang it anyway!
All the seasons are now on amazon prime
The hallmark movie channel, Metv channel and it free! 😊
I watch on Amazon prime
Fabulous TV show. I still watch it today.

I started checking the seasons out from the library and I swear I paid at least 100.00 in fines for not returning them on time!! I quit watching in the middle of season 5 so I'm checking to see if I can find them actually free online somewhere (laughs)
Beth Bollig I was able to find all the seasons, which includes the original pilot, and the movies online, just download them
wow I wanna cry. We watched this show and saw our Family in their Family. there was 5 of us kids growing up on a farm, wow I love this Family
They raised me after my parents divorced. I have been happily married for 27 years and raised two good children following their example of love, faith, values and character.
David Cassidy
You are right. They were peoples family that had none.
Wow Mike, that is so special
How wonderful It puts a smile on my face and the best memories, I love it and what a cast...thanks for sharing..
What an awesome interview...just wow!!!
Love the Waltons :D

This was great.i love the Walton's and still watch it. Everyone should grow up ana smalltown and live a life like the Walton's.loved the meal scenes. Best episode was when John boy went to new York got his book published and was able to move to new York. Missed him though loved the reunion movie where he has twins girl and then a boy. Go Walton's .miss Ralph white.
Great days!!!! I loved that Will Gree in his dungarees. I never thought it was the same once he died.
This is a show that put warm and harmony together. Tough times and in good times, through struggles and giggles it worked it self out. That was the Walton's! It's sad thou we all can't be like that.
God bless, truly hoping y’all have a safe week Jesus loves you He died on the cross for our sins and rose three days later
Unlike 21st century TV, "The Waltons" were about family, love, dinner @ the table, values & respect: & not about trash, selfies, non-talent rich snobs or mudslinging.
I could not have said it better than you have!
Love this show!
I fackin' love the waltons. I'm only 27 years old and I remember my Mum watching the repeats on telly when I was a kid and I used to hate it. Only recently have I given it a second chance and it's quickly becoming one of my favourite programs.
My wife and I had only been married a year when The Waltons came on, and never missed an epidode
This might be hard to believe, but they dubbed The Waltons into Afrikaans, so I was all crown up when I heard it in English for the first time. Even in Afrikaans the show was a great hit in South Africa. The phrase "Good Night John Boy" became "Goeie Nag John Boy". :)
thurs nite 8 pm channel 2..seems like yesterday.. never missed an episode.. great show great cast...I love the waltons...
Same here, Thursday night ritual. :0)
I love The Waltons. My mom named me after this tv show. I really grew up on it.

Love this program so much sadly the family i had was nothing like them always longed to be loved by brothers and sisters grandpa was my favourite
I remember sitting in living room watching this with my parents and brother in 70's im 50 now.
i loved the waltons in my youth reminded me when i was growing up coming from a large family and very por but humble
brown eyes We were from a very large family, one pair of good shoes for school and one pair of play shoes....we never even noticed because we had so much love inside our home and food on the table and a roof over our heads and two parents who loved us...a mother and a father....and our memories will live forever......all of us watched this show together...now, my mother watches it and loves it...she was too busy to watch tv, cooking, cleaning, laundry and raising 5 kids when it was on in the 1970's, so it's a treat to share it with her now when she's 84 years young....
I will always love the Waltons - thanks for this.
My sons first name is John. And we would do a John Boy shout out at night.... he's 40 years old, I still do it, even through text. Priceless memories...night John Boy.. love you all for wonderful memories...
The series is still relevant today. Love the writing. Love the cast.
My parents were about the ages of the younger Walton kids and my grandparents were roughly the ages of John and Olivia. So they identified with those characters.
They remembered many of the major events of those times as they were written into Waltons episodes.
I enjoyed watching "The Waltons" as a kid and now even more appreciate it as an adult.
I still love watching the Waltons. I plan to visit the Hamner home and the Walton's Museum next summer.
wow richard thomas hardly changed...the girls are beautiful and the youngest brother changed so much.couldnt recognise him there in the back
I know right?
I think David Harper changed the most of all of them from The Homecoming onward
like so many other people who have commented, The Waltons basically raised me.
I love the Walton tv show then and love watching the reruns now.
Just love the Waltons my favourite programme X
they all look great! This brings back such good memories and it is unfortunate that this is now a "lost' era in this country. When what mattered was love, family and people....really sad
my family is like the Waltons, every night we all say good night to each other... I have 10 siblings
Family is important and great; unfortunately not all people do have that.
God Bless you and yours.
Glad to hear that there some kind of loving family
That must take forever lol
Good night Tomas!
Most of them aged so well. I can`t believe John Boy is 60 here. I especially loved the early years of this show.
So great to see them! Wonderful! 💗
I loved watching The Waltons and it was my second favourite show after Little House On The Prairie.
Truly loved that show growing up!!!
Wow!!! All seven kids! They look wonderful! And Mama too!
Good stuff...I loved watching the Waltons when I was a lad
You couldn't be more correct.
jojoxx1231
I was born in 73 and I always felt I was born way too late and Daddy (Ralph Waite) was someone I wished was my dad when I was little watching the reruns
***** you mean The Krtrash'ians!
thebeastlacey nonsense.
