This was priceless. They all still looked great and Jim Backus, what a gem. But Alan Hale with that smile looked almost exactly the same. I saw something like this from I think late 80s and even then he looked like he hadn’t aged at all. Timeless.
Alan Hale Jr seemed to be the 1 who "Played himself" the most. He always wore his captain's hat, & when he was on Andy Griffith, I believe he refereed to Barney Fife(Don Knots) as "Little, Buddy" which was transfered to Bob(Gilligan)Denver. It's hard to believe all the dudes are gone.
it was well known that Mr. Hale would go and visit sick children in hospitals wearing his captain's hat and the shirt he wore on the show--Mr. Hale also had a semi-regular role on Gunsmoke (the show that actually bumped Gilligan's Island off the air after its 3rd season)
Yes he did. He also called ALF "Little Buddy" in that awful '90's sitcom. I think he called everybody that because of his size. It wasn't intended for him to call Gilligan that, but, he said it so much, they added it to the script.
I do miss them so much! 😢 That’s why I watch reruns of Gilligan’s Island all the time. They were all wonderful people and Skipper was such a sweet charitable man.

Wow, Kathie Lee Gifford before she became ridiculously phony and full of herself. Great to see the entire cast together again. Regardless of what the critics ever said about the show, these seven actors brought so much joy to so many people around the world.

Needless to say, Gilligan's Island won and raised money for charity. So happy to see them win! Jim Backus was having health issues (MS?) and Natalie Shaffer was helping him. ❤❤

thank you for posting this....first time I am seeing this interview with all of them. What a gem, what a treasure of actors! Oh how I wish I could go back in time to meet these folks.
I am glad to see Tina Louise on this interview. I have all 3 seasons of GI and often think about this voluptuous beauty. I kinda thought today that people should leave this woman alone. All the remarks about Tina and her "attitude" were made by fans who were not present on the GI soundstage, but were mostly founded on hearsay. She was a professional and played her part well, and owes her sharp critics nothing. I'm glad we get to hear her side of the story.
Thankyou for bringing that up Clarence. Tina I think has been treated pretty unfairly over the years. But Bob Denver said it best, that once the miner details were cleared up he said that Tina was a total pro and the perfect Ginger. :) I don't want to take anything away from Judith Baldwin. She is a very talented actress. But without Tina Louise playing the role the character of Ginger Grant was just not quite the same. Kinda like when Donna Reed spent a year playing Miss Ellie on "Dallas".
Clarence...Tina did a great job playing the Ginger character! She was nothing like her in real life. Pretty serious and very involved in children's causes if I remember right.

Back in '88 I took my mother back to DFW for her flight to STL. We were sitting at the gate when two men entered walking in from behind us. I saw them from behind and they sauntered off to get a drink and Man the one fellow wearing a Skippers hat had Alan Hale's profile and even his voice. I noticed other couples who had a better view smiling and pointing him out and I said, "Mom, that's the Skipper! I think he's on your flight!" Mom called me that night to let me know she had gotten Alen Hale's autograph. He was hired to do Boat shows in Dallas and STL. He had returned to the gate alone after I headed back to work and Mom slowly approached him and asked, "Mr. Hale can I have your autograph?" and they had a little chat. He was gone less than 18 months later at the age of 68. Mom said his personality was exactly as seen on the TV. Friendly, smiling, joking and giddy. Mom was a young 49 back then. Still here at 82. Out of everyone at the gate she was the first one to slowly walk over and chat with him. She got the ball rolling. Everybody likes the Skipper.

@@hoorootv7266 I am thinking 1980 plus/minus. There is another reunion on the late show 5/88 and Bob Denver has totally grey hair in that reunion. He looks a lot younger in this interview.
Alan did not originally wear the captains cap once the show ended. But once everyone wanted pictures when he was in public he found one and never left the house without it. He adored his fans.
Tina Louise must have forgotten all of the times that her character, Ginger Grant, kissed a man, because she kissed Gilligan and the Professor multiple times throughout the series.
Have to say Russell Johnson was still looking pretty darn handsome here...still had the same sexy voice! He had to be around 58 or so here if this was in 1982 as someone stated below! Thought Tina Louise looked great too. Seems like she's finally accepted that the show made her a household name!
This is a true story, but when Alan found out that they cancelled G.I, he cried as I'm sure most of us would have. I thought Alan was terrific along with all the other cast members.
Sherwood Schwartz told them the show had been renewed for a 4th season-and he has said in interviews many of the cast went and bought homes believing they would be getting a regular paycheck for at least another year--then the lame brains at CBS decided to keep Gunsmoke on the air and to do so cancelled Gilligan's Island
@@bufnyfan1 It was only because some CBS Exec's wife liked Gunsmoke better than Gilligan's Island. GI always won its time slot. They already had shows written, and we the fans never got to see those shows sadly. I've never watched an episode of Gunsmoke and not because of that reason either.
I've read Russell Johnson's (Professor) book on the Series and it was very informative. Most of them didn't think the series was even going to last one season and they were not-at the time-too enamored with it. The exceptions were Russell and Alan Hale, who had been in the business long enough to appreciate the steady paycheck. By the third season they'd gotten over the hump and were starting to enjoy working on the show and with each other, even Tina Louise-who had been a major griper early on. All were looking forward to that 4th season, but the show got cancelled suddenly after they broke up following the 3rd season. Life is like that for everyone, you never know a good thing until you don't have it anymore. Looking back all the Castaways would love to go back and do it again, but at the time some of them took it for granted. Enjoy every minute folks, they never come back once they're gone.
The show did indeed get cancelled suddenly, as the show had been renewed but once the network's wife heard that Gunsmoke was going to be cancelled, she objected and hubby put it back into the lineup, so two half-hour shows had to go to make room. Gilligan's Island, alas, was one of the two.
I have always loved this show when was very new in syndication at the time❤ it's just so hard to see them disappear over time😢only tina is left..very heartbreaking but when I watch the show now it's like they still alive and well🎉🎉 still stranded on an island together somewhere❤️
+Kabuki Jo they asked him that at another re-union "if the professor is so smart, why couldn't he fix the boat" and his reply was "if you were a man trapped on an island with MaryAnn and Ginger, would you fix the boat?"
+Kabuki Jo Well, EVENTUALLY he did. He got an old airplane working again and flew them off the island. ("Castaways on Gilligan's Island.") I only found out recently that they eventually got off the island for good.
A 1969 episode of Get Smart was filmed on the Gilligan's Island set. It was aptly titled 'Schwartz's Island'; the Schwartz being Gilligan's Island creator Sherwood Schwartz.
@Jesse Mitchell Yes, but those were "accidents", not that he actually built a boat out of all those palm trees. Funny when you consider he could build working record players and keep batteries fully charged for their Radio. Either way, I loved the show.
I was surprised when I once heard an interview with Alan Hale. The man was nothing like his character. He was intelligent, articulate, and shockingly relevant.
Kathie Lee looks amazing with that vintage early '80s styling. And her interviewing and broadcasting skills were already absolutely perfectly honed by this early date. Strangely, her Wikipedia doesn't even mention she worked on Good Morning America before the Regis show but other sources do.

"Willy" Gilligan was an early script name, and a matter of dispute even between Schwartz and Denver themselves, who would know better than anyone. What is certain is that the name never got into series, even in the (original) pilot.
This is really cool. Just saw a 1988 Good Morning America reunion on UA-cam as well with all of them actually in person and included Sherwood Schwartz the show's creator. Good stuff.
+paul rogers Yeah, that never made any sense to me why she hated the show so much. If it wasn't for Gilligan's Island, no one would know who the hell she is.
+lighthouse44 I think she didn't like the show because her character didn't get a lot of laughs like the other characters. Eventually she did come to terms with the show. Also, she was known to a degree before the show began.
It was much greener and more colorful (and cleaner and more livable) than an actual island would be. Plus, it would have had to have been huge to have had all the cliffs, mountains, caves, unexplored territory, and extra-castaway inhabitants that were seen on the show. Not to mention a huge volcano that no one knew about (until it was about to erupt).
Bob Denver really pulled something special off by being able to keep Gilligan likeable even though he kept them trapped on the island over and over LOL
It's a shame Tina Louise did not at least appear in "Rescue from Gilligan's Island". I wonder if, by the late 1980s, when she started appearing with the original cast again, that she regretted that. One more TV movie would have been great, as well. (But, by this time, several cast members did not have much time left.)
Yeah..I know. I think Ginger (aka Tina Louise) has amnesia! I am surprised NO ONE from the cast corrected her..ESPECIALLY the professor...as Thurston Howell III put it at the time of THAT MINUTE kiss...it’s A DOOZIE!!!!”
I am the son of baby boomers so I was introduced to this show by them and boy am I glad they did as I love this show I have every episode on DVD they should have made a special 3 hour final episode but stupid William Paley let his wife make his decision in cancelling the show after they were approved for a fourth season. well as least we have the two tv movies.
I remember Ginger kissing the Professor in one of the episodes when they when some old film equipment and costumes washed up on shore and they made a silent movie.
i know enough about this show to know all of the full names(on screen) of the cast away's like willy gilligan, and jonah's grumby,,,,,(skipper) is that sad?
My Dad had Bonanza on one time. He watches old shows all the time and Dawn Wells was in it as a Indian! Dawn Wells was also arrested in 2008 having pot in her car. She was 69 years old at the time and how ironic for her to spend 3 hours in jail! :-)
According to Ms. Wells, it wasn't her car. If I understand correctly, the owner loaned it to her, and then admitted to authorities that the marijuana was his.
(LOL) SERIOUSLY???? Did Bob Denver mess up her chances to get bailed out? Alan Hale smacks him on the head and then Tina Louise seduces the judge...but sshe doesn't KISS him, she just flirts, by touch...you know.
Kathy Lee did an awesome job with this interview! Now, the age old answer of why Tina Louise didn't appear in the made for TV Movies, of GI, has been answered. As she said herself, it was a conflict of interest with her pursuing more dramatic roles .. And if she did not want to be associated with GI after the series was over, as rumor has it, she would have blown everyone off for the reunion. Same thing with Larry Hagman, when I dream of Jeannie was made into a movie for TV. He was working on "Dallas" at the time, and wasn't able to.
She appeared on Dallas with Larry Hagman the same year the first reunion movie aired. According to Sherwood Schwartz, Tina Louise was willing to appear in the reunion movie but demanded way too much money. It's possible she did that to get out of doing the movie without flat out refusing to do so, who knows?
This aired a year and a half after the final reunion movie. The one that unfortunately featured the Harlem Globetrotters and robots. The network offered Sherwood the chance to do a new weekly Gilligan's series after the success of the first 1978 reunion movie, but he turned it down. He thought the cast was too old and that he didn't have enough stories he wanted to tell. He agreed to do one reunion movie a year instead. But the ratings of those quickly declined. If he didn't have enough good ideas for three movies, I have a feeling a new series would have declined in the ratings just as much as the movies did. Jim Backus would've had to bow out due to his health after a season or two, which in addition to the fake Ginger, would've caused problems for the series.
Tina Louise's Ginger Character was so much like Marilyn Monroe that I am Amazed that she did not start doing Movies similar to what Marilyn used to do like 'Looking For Mr. Good Bar' or playing Jane in a Tarzan Movie.
I'm 67 and I still love it and watch it.

Gilligan's Island, alas, was one of the two.
wow, incredible..
I have always loved this show when was very new in syndication at the time❤ it's just so hard to see them disappear over time😢only tina is left..very heartbreaking but when I watch the show now it's like they still alive and well🎉🎉 still stranded on an island together somewhere❤️
I remember seeing this show on ABC TV's:"Good Morning America".
a really cool show......one of the greats, for sure.
Nice to see Tina Louise doing a interview.
One of the best vids I’ve ever seen! Circa 1982
Jim did join the others in person, despite his illness in 1988, when the seven appeared on a lesser known late night show on the FOX network.
That was the short-lived Ross Shafer talk show in 1988.
The reason the Professor could not build a boat to get them off the island, is that the series would be over if he did.
Same thing with The Incredible Hulk t.v. series. Had David Banner found a cure to rid himself of the Hulk, THAT series would have ended as well.
@Jesse Mitchell Yes, but those were "accidents", not that he actually built a boat out of all those palm trees. Funny when you consider he could build working record players and keep batteries fully charged for their Radio. Either way, I loved the show.
Gilligan"s Island is on DVD [1964-1967] that was over 50yrs.
I was surprised when I once heard an interview with Alan Hale. The man was nothing like his character. He was intelligent, articulate, and shockingly relevant.
Just listen to the way he speaks here :)
loved all these People!!
Kathie Lee looks amazing with that vintage early '80s styling. And her interviewing and broadcasting skills were already absolutely perfectly honed by this early date. Strangely, her Wikipedia doesn't even mention she worked on Good Morning America before the Regis show but other sources do.

+Yondris Ferguson Thank you. Just thank you.
"Willy" Gilligan was an early script name, and a matter of dispute even between Schwartz and Denver themselves, who would know better than anyone. What is certain is that the name never got into series, even in the (original) pilot.
Is that Kathy Lee Gifford interviewing them?
One of the best family shows to be created
This is the closest to a true reunion of all of the original cast even with Mr.Howell out of the studio and on a monitor.
they got together in 1988 on another show
This is really cool. Just saw a 1988 Good Morning America reunion on UA-cam as well with all of them actually in person and included Sherwood Schwartz the show's creator. Good stuff.
Dawn Wells looked great!
+Mark Wheeler ..and she still does!
+Mark Wheeler Always did.
Met her in 1976 while filming The Town that Dreaded Sundown. She is precious!!
Nice to see Tina Louise saying good things about the show; she always bashed the show
+paul rogers Yeah, that never made any sense to me why she hated the show so much. If it wasn't for Gilligan's Island, no one would know who the hell she is.
+paul rogers The Professor would too, occasionally. He started out in Sci-Fi, and had rather ambitious career aspirations.
+lighthouse44 typecasting can be a bitch for some actors.
+lighthouse44 I think she didn't like the show because her character didn't get a lot of laughs like the other characters. Eventually she did come to terms with the show. Also, she was known to a degree before the show began.
She did have a role in Dallas before that show exploded.
man, somewhere out there there is a Good Mourning America reunion of Adam West, Guy Williams, Van Williams, etc. i wish i could find it to see it.
roger fancher I remember seeing that episode of Andy Griffith and getting mad thinking "BUT GILLIGAN'S YOUR LITTLE BUDDY!" Lol!
RIP ALL WHO PASSED ONLY MARY ANNE AND GINGER ARE LEFT
The three actors from the pilot who were fired are also still living.
Mary Anne gone today at 82....
I Still Love This Show / I Got I Of There Series On Cd And Their Rescue Video ...
Russell Johnson (the professor) was looking darn good then, it’s a shame he’s gone now.
My heart will always throb for ginger, I always had a mega crush on her.
This is charming! Thank you!
Watching it right now .
November 26, 1982.
Thank You for providing the date.
Thanks for posting this!
Gillian was my childhood hero and I was in love with Maryann. I always wanted one of her coconut cream pies! :)
They were part of something very special.....
Loved them
Gilligan's island something about that island
It was much greener and more colorful (and cleaner and more livable) than an actual island would be. Plus, it would have had to have been huge to have had all the cliffs, mountains, caves, unexplored territory, and extra-castaway inhabitants that were seen on the show. Not to mention a huge volcano that no one knew about (until it was about to erupt).
@@greglawrence1314 Exactly!
Bob Denver really pulled something special off by being able to keep Gilligan likeable even though he kept them trapped on the island over and over LOL
ginger kissed the professor and gilligan
Ginger kissed the Professor in 3 episodes.
They all looked great I don't know what year this was but they all look great
Cj glad to see them all
No wonder that the producer had to find a way to get help so that someone can rescue these seven nice people.
When I was young, I liked Mary Ann. Now, Lovey is looking good!
Ginger DID kiss Gilligan in the "jetback" episode, and also she kissed the professor when they were making the movie to get them off the island.
Also kissed Mr Howell in Gilligans dream about cavemen
@@rvpstudiosstudios1028 ....@3:53 "the professor" did correct Tina. He said, "You kissed me".
NEPOTISM..at ITS BEST!
Three TV movies + two cartoons!
Happy 60th anniversary to Gilligan's Island.
If you like this video, watch them on Family Feud with Richard Dawson.
When was this segment aired? What year? Looks like early.80s to me.
Wow, and I thought Fox Late Night was the only time the entire cast got together. When did this air?
1982
All gone except Tina Louise!! But living on in reruns!!
Tina Louise is 90 years old.
Kathy asked Natalie about staying on the air, & not feeling that way 18 yrs ago- that would put this at 1982 at the earliest
It is Faith Daniels.
Mary Ann looked like Mary Ann. Skipper was the skipper.
@Marty McFly II Hagman would've merited the paycheck though.
What talk show and year was this. Kathy Lee was interviewer.
