G'day mate, my SV7 when inside the hull of the 11.5 wasn't as good as when I used the Railblazer over the side mount. You can buy a transducer cover to mount under the transducer plate rather than in inside and that would work perfect and protect the transducer from damage. As long as the transducer is clear if the hull you will get good sude scan vision. Hope this helps.

Thanks loads mate. I was just trying to work out a workaround for this. I didn’t know about the trailblazer mount.

Great advice mate. Thanks for video. I was about to mount my transducer the way you did last time. This is much easier 👍

Hi Alby hope you are well mate loving your vids ❤
Just wanted to ask apart from the fact that the max drive fins were too close to the transducer well causing interruption in the view.
Were you still able to get SV scanning on your monitor?
Could you still see the side view?
Just asking as I am in the process of upgrading to the Garmin Striker 7SV and I would really like to utilise my transducer well.
I have a brand new kayak that has its drive system much further away than the 11.5 and sits flush with the bottom of the yak i am hoping that I can still use it with the side scan view so I thought I'd reach out and ask the question as you might be able to help me 🙏

Interesting discovery with the transducer plate. Would the screws be long enough to add some washers underneath them in order to bring the plate further out from the mount? I notice that it's sitting a lot further up into the hull but wondering if it was sitting more flush if that would make a difference for side scan.

Hey Alby I have the same Kayak and was just out the back commencing my transducer mount. I have the Garmin Echomap UHD 75SV sounder and the transducer is huge. I thought I was having problems getting the thing into the cavity under the boat but watching your vid now makes me think I should do the same thing. I presume you used stainless self tapping screws straight into the plastic? It also looks like you've done the same thing with the sounder. I'm still considering the rail mount but as I'm getting old it might be too far away from me so may have to use a railblazer starport and screw straight to the plastic. I'm also from Adelaide and a member of Yak Hunters. I live on Yorkes but always willing to travel. Regards Chris

Hi mate, yes the transducer mount for me over the side is mounted via a railblazer side mount. I will drop you a pic. The imaging is so much better than having it in the under hull mount, plus I can ensure it does not get damaged. Instal into the mount is easy from the seat. I go out regularly but where on Yorkes are you as I want to head over to Ardrossan soon.

@@albyskayakstuffaustralia3215 I’m at Port Clinton, 15 kms before Ardrossan. I have contacted berleypro to see if they have an external cover for my transducer

Hi, i have the same yak and sounder and want to move my transducer to the railblaza mount, where did you hide all the excess cable

Hi John, I actually coiled it up and cable tied the coil and then placed the coil into a small neoprene bag I had about the size of a glove. It sits under my sounder nice and neat and doesn't create a risk or get in the way of everything.
