3:40 I really like how you managed to maximize both your dps and tanking, without dropping your shields, long enough for the astrals to kill that radiant. That's some impressive flux management
Turtle-gon doesn't really work unless it is the bait to a wolfpack. Or a SO-hyper-wolfpack. The Paragon draws them in. Hold fire and bastion. Any time the Hype swarm makes a window, drop the bastion and show them the light of Ludd. Because with great range comes fire-power overwhelming. So reach out. Teach them to embrace divinity. Peace through power.
EMP emitters also don’t use much flux so omens can basically spam it without limits and use all their flux for tanking until the enemy is completely disabled and just sit behind the them.
exactly, smod hardened shields, give them an officer with systems expertise, they will swarm and eat through anything bigger than a frigate, anything smaller than a frigate, they'll just swallow it whole.
Huh. Your talk on skill synergies with hullmods and abilities has made me realise how much more I could be getting out of my fleet. I've tended to just put officers with a random mix of skills on the biggest ships I have
astral/legion is the best ships to combat the fast moving shield heavy remnants. the consistant swarm never lets them recover. in fact this is the best way to deal with tessaracts too.
The strongest S-mod right now is Expanded magazines. I just use it on every ship however I can. Even the Paladin PD system becomes a damage dealer with the faster recharge rate.
The advice about how to use the astral and the build you showed is exactly what I needed to make them finally feel powerful in my playthrough! Thank you! The feeling of dueling an enemy capital in my Paragon, only to watch a massive missile strike come in from behind me and win me the duel by blowing the enemy up is amazing.
In vanilla 0.96a, the built-in S-mod will NOT convert hard flux to soft. It will probably add another 10% to the elite shield skill, but it is very difficult to measure by eye. It hasn't been fixed in Nexerelin either.
What I love doing with Astrals is loading them up with Trident bombers. Even all the way in the back of my formation because I just let the AI do it's thing they do some serious work. Trust me when I say nothing in this game can stand up to two Paragons and two Astrals loaded with Tridents. Only thing that could counter it would probably be itself, but that's why we have officers.
I gotta get some of those falcons for my current gimmick fleet. It's called operation flameout simple premise destroy the enemy engines. I'm thinking falcons escorted by omens running salamanders and ion beans should get a lot of opportunistic engine strikes.
This is reminds me of how I took on the remnants. After getting thoroughly murdered the 1st time I came back with a 2 paragon 2 astral and 1 14bg onslaught because there is no kill like overkill.
24:20 "hmmm a falcon, yeah those can do things sometimes but die quick" 5 seconds later: Who would had fugging thought that, taking account every single pixel of the hull every hullmod and skill. And I was thinking that I was a nasty min-maxer when building ships. neeeeeeeerd
I've found the Advanced Turret Gyros to be a better version of Armored Weapon Mounts on Capitals since it affects all types of damage for no flux cost.
@Big Brain Energy on a capital ship, if you combine ATG S-Mod with Target Analysis you get a +20% damage boost against everything except Frigates, which is still +15% combine with +10% from 100% CR, +5% from the skill (if you feel like taking it/give yourself more skill points) and either the +10% from BM/MS or the close range variability of EWM you can get some very juicy flux efficiency advantages
Where can I get High Tech ships of this kind, and more importantly when should I get them? (After I start up a colony, or before) Thanks for the Help, new StarSector player here.
autolaser with build in extended magazine are completely busted at the moment you should give it a try. the only problem it has is range. the AI does not seem to totally understand it but in player hands its quite insane. even an executor is decent with that s mod.
I haven't messed around with them much, but I'm pretty confident you're going to need either derelict ops or hull restoration if you're keeping them for late game.
They have rugged construction so the industry capstones aren’t as necessary. They need all the armour, hull and speed hullmods so that they can survive. Then breaches for anti armour and they don’t need expanded missile racks and railguns for anti shield and hull is a classic build. Don’t worry about overfluxing it because it can’t overload and when it uses damper fields it still dissipates flux.
I still feel like carriers are doomed to be inefficient by their current design. A lot of fleets are viable as you're demonstrating here, but just replace Astrals with Conquests and you'll get twice as bang for your buck, the whole fight would've taken half the time. Carriers are designed to be extreme range support with big burst damage and/or harrassment ponetntial, but the range difference between their regular weapons and bomber reach leaves some of their OP underutilized as they tend to stay away (as you've tried to negate here by tying Astrals to Paragon). Also, bombers dont do enough and lose their replacement rate fast. Perhaps... They need more focus? Like, make the bombers deadlier (get rid of replacement rate? More bomber slots, extra damage mods?), but the carriers more fragile and slow. I'm certain devs thought about that and there is no easy solution, but their current state is still Meh.
The meta has been absolutely dominated by kiting carriers since forever, and it was never actually changed. So no, carriers are not getring buffed, they are already the strongest thing in the game.
@@egoalter1276 say that to Omens and devastators. Get a good PD and bombers/fighters just die like flies. The weakness is too blatant. Also, i don't see how this "carrier kiting" strat can work against [REDACTED].
@@egoalter1276 I used to love piloting a carrier prior to 0.95. There were skills to support it and it was a fun and interesting way to play. Ever since 0.95, it is literally more effective to pilot anything other than a carrier. Unfortunately, that made me loose interest in the game and now I rarely play. The fact that carrier/fighters can be min/maxed to abuse the game but at the same time are somewhere between underwhelming and completely ineffective when use as intended in moderation means that they probably need a rework.
Sometimes. Before it was always yes, but with only 10% reduced energy damage it's often not a good combat choice. I still want it so I can surf storms, though.
2 large missile slots plus 6 bays.....Astrals will never go out of style even in mod factions. My S-mods are ALWAYS the most OP cost ones, bar none...id never use those slots on anything under 35
So just a question, Is it possible for AI paragon to beat Radiant or Nova in 1v1 situation? Despite of being the strongest single 60 DP battleship known besides Invictus, I've never seen Paragon beat Radiant in both youtube and my play, simply it can't match the sheer spec of Alpha core Radiant despite of all S-mods and best officer. It just can't win the flux war against Radiant without ballistic weapons and too slow to prevent flank or not get distracted by frigates. Quite impressed by this vid, never seen someone actually use Paragon to beat Ordo in vanilla.
