- hoo boy did this take a while. but i eventually got it. (even if I used a full skill character q.q)
the trick was Insulated Engine Assembly to let the engines survive the Realty Disruptors EMP vape cloud. from there it was just outlasting the Facets, Shards, and Aspects.
though it was not a clean fight it still was fun, in retrospect i wonder if putting the Mk IX in the rearward mounts would've been smarter though. something to ponder i guess.

Between Impact Mitigation and the built-in "distributed fire control" hullmod you're dealing 1/4th the damage to those guns. Armored Weapon Mounts double those guns durability.
Also DFC+Resistant Flux Conduits+Polarized Armor cumulatively reduces EMP Damage by 81%
And the S-modded Automated Repair Unit reduces the time those guns come back online by 75%

I love how the weapon designed to be the best at disabling components still struggles against the Invictus.
Well without IEA then this ship would be suffering from permanent Flameout.
But yes even the most EMP of EMP weapons cannot keep Invictus down
On the other hand, you can drive something fast up to it's side, cut a small hole in the armor and shoot cryo blaster into it until it explodes.

Descriptions of the Mjolnir say it's a very advanced design. So it's a fairly high-tech *Ballistic* weapon.

Have been noticing more derpy behaviour from the AI over the last patch.
It cod always pull some silly shit but flying in front lf my beam weapons and torpedos or flameing out from ramming ships seems to be more common atm.
Been playing starsector on and off for a few years and the AI feels generally more stupid to me than it used to be, no idea if that's true, just my opinion

@@daanstrik4293yeah phase ships esp seems stupidly reckless rn. It seems a lot of the newers modifications/weapons and maybe even tweaks from Alex have fucked them up to be a lot more idiotic in terms of decision making
I love the fact that the Invictus just took the design for a standard capital ship and sacrificed mobility, range, and speed and every other factor for SHEER MASS AND GUNS.
I have an infinite amount of respect for this ship after seeing this.

It is strangely cathartic seeing these omega monsters being destroyed with museum pieces, I am not really much of a power gamer so trying to destroy them with my conquest and an onslaught was a trial. Any other fun ways to cheese these guys?

Tried fighting these guys with two Paragons and two Astrals loaded with Trident bombers.
They melted in a few seconds.
You, the Invictus, or Schizo Doritos melted?
Invictus is the hardest non-Remnant ships we can encounter as an enemy in Starsector, when it shows up at bounties that bounty just become much harder than normal. Currently the way I use to counter Invictus is a Xyphos Legion XIV, even Invictus can't survive against the 2 salvos from cyclone reaper! Onslaught with 4 reaper also works well against it.
bro, just use an odyssey with 2 reapers mounted on the front. if you have missile racks or the missile skill you have enough firepower to bring down an invictus EASILY. the Odyssey is the best ship in the game bar none
lol a bit of a late response but i often run a aurora spiked to the brim with cryoblasters, minipulsers, shock repeaters and antimatter srm out of pure spite for those museum pieces.
For me I just separate the Invictus of it's fleet with my escort (cruisers frigates and whatnot) and jist duel it with my Paragon. Fortress can just tank the blows and when the barrage is over just tachyon lance that mofo. Rinse and repeat and you'll be done in just a minute.

Why didn’t you use missiles? Just having locusts would have helped deal with the frigates so much. Sarisa or thunder fighters would probably have also been better.

Wild that the bigger ones, despite having much better speed and maneuverability, just decide to face this absolute beast head on instead of flanking and attacking from the side and rear.
Because AI do stupid things.
The invictus is genuinely terrifying for me to witness in my runs since I use a mod to make armour last longer and require complete depletion in a given sector of a ship to start doing hull damage, because it can just outlast my fleets if I don't have sufficient anti-armour. It doesn't need to kill my ships itself, it just needs to wait patiently for my ships to explode from critical malfunctions.

It coomed its robo-brains out from the sheer big pp Chad energy emanating from the Mighty Space Brick.
That's kinda why i like giving this thing missles for 2 heavy weapon's. Helps handle smaller threats that flank you. The swarmer is my preferred.
This reminds me of a maxed armor xiv legion with the shield shunt, just way scarier.

I was just playing with a KoL mod today, there's a Lunaria battleship there. It's smaller, faster and has only 2 large ballistic hardpoints instead of 4. And yet, when i pop LIDAR enemy fleet scatters like a flock of pidgeons and/or tries to hide behind my own Star Fortress(high tech stuffed with plasma cannons, btw).
What i'm saying is those dorito bois are very brave and/or dumb hovering in front of Invictus like that.

Right click does cannister flak instead of shields (and is incompatible for shields)

11K AS STANDARD. foR COMARISON - ONSLAUGHT xIV HAS 2200
Your values for XIV armor and Invictus armor are both wrong. Invictus is 10,000. XIVslaught is 1850. With AWM Invictus is 11,000 but with AWM XIVslaught is 2024...
Also, the Invictus only has 10% of its armor for damage calculation. So although it has 10,000 armor points, all incoming damage is mitigated as if it only has 1,000 armor. Then at 7,000 armor, its calculated as if 700, etc...
Obviously still very tanky, but it's an important distinction.

@@gamerplays5131 not really, it's extremely rare, I devoted myself to Ludd so I could get my hands on those things reliably.
I managed to get two by being jumped by a Luddic invasion fleet. Barely managed to win with two condors and like 10 ish falcons/eagles
There was an Invictus on patrol with a few frigates. I jumped it and recovered it. Faulty Automated systems. Ouch 😬
Thank god for Hull Restoration. This is also how I got my first Onslaught.
