I feel like Mary-Ann was actually gonna off herself instead of Tyler. We get subtle hints that something else was going on and she was wrestling with her own demons. She also refused to take her medicine which could've been because she felt that it wasn't working or because she just didn't want to deal with her demons anymore.
What he said about not seeing abuse that's kind of the main point of a game like this abuse isn't over the top most of the time or always physical sometimes it's mental or emotional the mom clearly had a psychological problem that she was actively refusing to take her medications for and that led her to hurting her children you don't have to leave bruises to hurt someone and unfortunately media can be blamed for a lot of this because we don't look for the subtle forms of abuse because media always portrays things either up a degree or to the extremes

I recently read "A Child Called It," either this year or last year, and heartbreaking doesn't BEGIN to cover than baby's story. That book...HURTS. Wonderful reading if you want to understand abuse from a child's perspective but...it being true just makes the understanding harder to stomach. I guess that's partially the point.
We had to read this book for our teaching classes to get an understanding of the life that kids may have at home, how to tell signs of abuse, and to help us remember that not everyone has good parents and school might be the only escape they have and as a sophomore in highschool who had dealt with abuse as a child it realllllyyy out shit into perspective

My theory, I believe their mom wasn’t trying to kill Tyler but the Mad Hunter. She was taking medication for something ( most likely hallucinations) and they said she stopped taking them. I believe that day she had an encounter with the Mad Hunter and she got freaked out, and usually when people see something they don’t believe is true the go to the extreme just to get rid of it. When you see the scene of Mary-Ann loading up the gun she looked freaked out and frantic, and also the Mad Hunter was in the same place as Mary- Ann, so that makes me further believe they had an encounter. Another thing I noticed is that Terra was scared to tell the truth to Tyler and his sister. I believe Mary-Ann told Terra what she was seeing and Terra thought she was nuts. That’s my theory so far, I hope I’m close. My prediction was right with Alyson so we’ll see how it goes.
I cried so many times watching this as a transgender male, it truly gives me hope for my own transition and makes me feel good about the fact that there even is a game out with a transgender character, usually there's only only the typical plot twist of a gay child or lesbian but I'm so glad that there's light being shed on transgender people and our struggles not only transition wise but socially too

That book is so fucked up. I had a pretty bad childhood, but that book made me realize, things can always be worse. In a way it kept me somewhat level headed. I read it several times throughout 6th-10th grade.
I can totally understand Allison being hurt that Tyler didn’t let her come see him in times where he had important life moments. Tyler is important to Allison and vice versa. Allison may have felt left out and abandoned by Tyler not reaching out. And that’s understandable. Tyler needed space too which is understandable. Tbh I think tyler having lied about his mom attacking him would have been kinda predictable, I think certain things were setting it up to make it seem that way. Alyson being the one to kill her shocked me a bit more and I also feel like it opens up different things the game can explore. Like if Tyler has any regrets/resentment from taking the fall, if Alyson has any guilt of it or if she has convinced herself that she truly wasn't the one who did it, or how others would feel if they found out the truth, especially because most probably hold some type of negative feelings towards tyler for it even if they dont out right say it. It's really interesting tbh like im really invested. I'm already so curious to know about the mom's obsession with child-like things and stories, what tessa knows, and the mad hunter monster.

hey berlin, I recommend that you start doing a little bit more looting and exploring in the next two chapters before progressing to the next point in the chapter. a lot of the items that Alyson/Tyler are able to look at (some are pointless though) have key information that will help you when trying to solve future puzzles or just gain more information/evidence to get to the truth of what happened to Mary Ann. I just finished the game myself the other day and found these tips to be most helpful. can't wait to see the next episode!

As a friend of a trans guy, this video game is so gripping and emotional because he has seen alot of rejection from his parents, but eventually they came around. I love him so much and this story is so emotional and the trauma this fictional character went through so much pain. I know a lot of people in the LGBTQ community have stories of abuse and pain and this game is so beautiful.

i'm so smart, from the moment alyson started feeling uncomfortable, i was like "it has to be one of those plots where the sibling takes the fall for the other". i had a gut feeling that alyson was the person who killed their mother. because notice how alyson was shown to be the "weaker" sibling in all the memories. it just makes sense. and if i wanted to get on my psychology shit, i'd say tyler also used it as an opportunity to find himself outside of their town and be his own person, being the reason he also didn't visit her when he turned 18.

My theory,
I believe their mom wasn’t trying to kill Tyler but the Mad Hunter. She was taking medication for something ( most likely hallucinations) and they said she stopped taking them. I believe that day she had an encounter with the Mad Hunter and she got freaked out, and usually when people see something they don’t believe is true the go to the extreme just to get rid of it.
When you see the scene of Mary-Ann loading up the gun she looked freaked out and frantic, and also the Mad Hunter was in the same place as Mary- Ann, so that makes me further believe they had an encounter.
Another thing I noticed is that Terra was scared to tell the truth to Tyler and his sister. I believe Mary-Ann told Terra what she was seeing and Terra thought she was nuts.
That’s my theory so far, I hope I’m close. My prediction was right with Alyson so we’ll see how it goes.

That book is so fucked up. I had a pretty bad childhood, but that book made me realize, things can always be worse. In a way it kept me somewhat level headed. I read it several times throughout 6th-10th grade.

Tbh I think tyler having lied about his mom attacking him would have been kinda predictable, I think certain things were setting it up to make it seem that way. Alyson being the one to kill her shocked me a bit more and I also feel like it opens up different things the game can explore. Like if Tyler has any regrets/resentment from taking the fall, if Alyson has any guilt of it or if she has convinced herself that she truly wasn't the one who did it, or how others would feel if they found out the truth, especially because most probably hold some type of negative feelings towards tyler for it even if they dont out right say it. It's really interesting tbh like im really invested. I'm already so curious to know about the mom's obsession with child-like things and stories, what tessa knows, and the mad hunter monster.

Idk if this is the case, because I can see some things very visibly in my dreams, and then see them happen in real life afterwards which always gives me an odd feeling but also one of euphoria. I feel like it is something akin to the supernatural, but moreso in a way of "speak it into existence" if that makes any sense.
I knew Alyson did it! When Tyler talked about how Alyson wanted a “normal” life I was suspicious. And I think The mom was actually trying to kill the Mad Hunter, and she was probably going insane knowing that the hunter was coming after her and didn’t know when he’d show up. This story is interesting!
I love how thorough the details are. And how Allison and Tyler have different memories of the same events. I wish there was a way you could watch both and then choose which path to go with.

hey berlin, I recommend that you start doing a little bit more looting and exploring in the next two chapters before progressing to the next point in the chapter. a lot of the items that Alyson/Tyler are able to look at (some are pointless though) have key information that will help you when trying to solve future puzzles or just gain more information/evidence to get to the truth of what happened to Mary Ann. I just finished the game myself the other day and found these tips to be most helpful. can't wait to see the next episode!

As a friend of a trans guy, this video game is so gripping and emotional because he has seen alot of rejection from his parents, but eventually they came around. I love him so much and this story is so emotional and the trauma this fictional character went through so much pain. I know a lot of people in the LGBTQ community have stories of abuse and pain and this game is so beautiful.
I've read that book a child called it when I was younger and it literally made me cry. So sad. Very graphic.

i'm so smart, from the moment alyson started feeling uncomfortable, i was like "it has to be one of those plots where the sibling takes the fall for the other". i had a gut feeling that alyson was the person who killed their mother. because notice how alyson was shown to be the "weaker" sibling in all the memories. it just makes sense. and if i wanted to get on my psychology shit, i'd say tyler also used it as an opportunity to find himself outside of their town and be his own person, being the reason he also didn't visit her when he turned 18.

Damn, watching this game has made me reflect on my own childhood... mind you, it definitely wasn’t this fucked up, but my mom made a lot of mistakes thinking she was doing the right thing for “us” even when it wasn’t, and in her own way... that was her idea of showing us love. Also Berlin is right, you shouldn’t have children until you have your own shit together, you don’t want to be in the position of being child-minded adult raising an actual child, I sure didn’t like being the kid in that situation. I don’t hate my mom... at all, she’s just made my life more difficult as a child, but I realize now she was trying her best, in her own way?
