After playing this game and watching so many videos I just can't figure out why she had the gun. Even in a psychotic state there must have a been a purpose for it even in her bad state of mind. What was she thinking? I believe Tom, but something just isn't right still.
@@silentj624 I personally think maybe threaten the CS agent or whoever showed up to take her kids. Though that would've been the nail in the coffin regarding keeping her kids. It could also be that she was paranoid Tom would show up again after hearing the news from Eddie.
JEEZ ! This is really depressing :/ I don't even know how to feel properly watching this ending, but it's just... A no for me, Alysson deserve better than this
Loved how their father turned out to be such an asshole. In most stories, it goes opposite, they find their daddy, he has all the explanations and they unite. Not in this one, he was there whole time, didint care about hes children, just buried the past.
I don't think Mary-Ann is capable of killing her own kids. I think she only meant to kill herself. Tyler thought she was chasing him, but she was only trying to explain.
Another detail that supports this is when you break into the evidence locker as Tyler and look at Mary Ann's autopsy report it shows her injuries weren't even fatal, she just chose not to resurface
Just finished this game. I sort of figured all along that the mom truly wasn’t bad... just didn’t seem to add up. But very interesting it can be played both ways
I keep seeing comments that say there are only three endings but there are definitely four. Two where Allyson, tyler, and Michael all move in together then two where Allyson stays at the house. Everyone knows ab the first two but I think people get the last two confused. This ending is for sure the worst but in the other one where Allyson stays they can still use their power and the dialogue is a lot better the bond between tyler and Allyson is still as strong
Tbh I kinda envy you, this ending feels way more emotional and I always felt throughout the game that Alyson should've stayed in Delos because she actually made friends and a new family after the accident. It's a damn shame you have to sacrifice the twins' good relationship to get it, though!
Nicolas I had no idea the relationship affected the ending until after I finished so I was being a dick the Eddie the whole time and I cheated most of the puzzles which also helped damage the friendship. To be fair I do really like this ending but I feel like there should’ve been a part showing Michael and Tyler off in Juneau together to kind of contrast Alyson being alone. I loved this game! But the whole time I was convinced Sam was baby daddy
I got the happy ending on my first run, then I played a second run trying to do more bad choices than good ones. At the end I got the "end the game with a weak relation between the twins" achievement on Steam, but the twins still decided to keep the voice. Weird.
Bit late but I probably guessing the bad choices for the most part usually don't drive a wedge between the twins. Probably more driving a wedge between them and the community I'm guessing you probably get thus ending by argueing and choosing against the other twin at majority or every turn
I chose the ending where Tom said that Mary-Ann never wanted to hurt them and kept their bond memory as fickle as the brain can sometime make up memories to hide a traumatic event that happened to a person given that in the story Aly did stab her mother and watch her fall in the water fully believing that she killed her mom. For this game Don't Nod really did their research on trauma.
I felt like this game was going in a different direction. The third installment just felt a bit rushed to me, as if they had to end it quickly. I personally thought that the mother was being influenced by the Mad Hunter - the Mad Hunter which the children had managed to manifest from their imagination.
Yeah, the las chapter felt like it lacked something, maybe because the only unanswered question was who's the father and the reveal that the twins misinterpreted Mary-Ann's actions wasn't that shocking. I started thinking about it when they showed the memory of Mary-Ann talking to Tom for the first time because the clip saying "I'm going to kill you" was the exact same. I think maybe showing a bit more of Mary-Ann's past would've been more rewarding but idk. I initially thought the Mad Hunter was a representation of their mother's mental illness. But at the end of the day, I'm kind of glad they didn't go in that direction because we don't need more media demonising mentally ill people.
WOW! I've seen a lot of different endings already, but never this one! It's completely different from the "usual endings", but still makes sense. Amazing!
My version was of course rosy, like most players had. But this ending is very atmospheric, love it. All game I was thinking about how talented their mother was, didn’t want this fairy tales to end. If there was second season after this ending it’s could be new drama story and with new cute and terrifying riddles
I think that is where the story felt the weakest. What did she do for her children to think she was gonna kill them. Whether that was the false memory or real one you would think two happy children wouldn't think their mom was just gonna murder them and would try to talk or shout to her what is going on!?
Finished chapter 3 of the game last night. I chose Tom and saw a good ending, but then I realized I made a choice that no one else did, at least that's what the statistics said("0% of players chose Tom's story"). And it felt somehow guilty for a moment. I thought like, did I judge Mary-Ann too good? Were the twins actually the survivors of domestic violence? Was I confused that much that I accidently avoid the truth? Did I just make Alyson feel more tortured? One thing is surely right. Mary-Ann was messed up and the kids had to face her issues when they were not ready. It's painful, for sure. But I couldn't see her being that bad. In their memories their mother did love and care her children. She just needed help, for herself and for her kids. That's where she made a mistake; people like Eddie and Tessa wanted to help her but because of her own issues she accepted it as an attack. I did choose Tom, not because I think he's right. It's just too obvious that their mother had issues but wasn't that harsh, and loved her two goblins. The game itself told me that I chose Tom's story(Alyson got affected by him, it said), but I think I chose the twin's memories, after all. I believed what they saw in their memories. And this ending is really sad, anyway. Mine was Alyson moving to Juneau as she wished it for her own good. Stuck in the house alone and writing fairytales was what Mary-Ann did. Aly wanted to move on...but in this ending I don't think she made it. 😢
That's pretty weird. I finished my game with the good bond between the twins (I won the achievement), I chose Aly's version, I kept the voice with Tyler and even so I got this ending where she is alone in the house.
I literally always made the right choices but i failed the panic attack app cuz i freaked out and i think thats why i got this ending :( they still kept their voice tho. I feel so bad for getting this ending...
Wait what this ending is completely different from what I got it was the same type of ending but they decided to keep thier voice and Alyson wasn't depressed
I knew Tom was their father from the beginning, Sam was too obvious. And i felt that their mother was not that evil, that she would kill her own children. I mean she was messed up, but she seem'd to love her children in so many memories. She had terrible life, but she was not terrible mother. Well, in the end maybe.
So there are four combinations of ending, Chose Tom/Good, Choose Aly/Good, Choose Tom/Bad, Choose Aly/Bad... wonder which combination is truly the rarest of them all at this point.
OKAY i am VERY confused. I got the allyson ending where she writes the book, but I got the "twins4life" achievement which means they are strongly bonded at the end...maybe my game glitched out? They also kept the voice...
thanks for uploading this!! i saw someone have a good relationship with Tyler and keep the power but still get the Alyson ending, so it must be because of something else?
W O A H ! Yes I think the relationship is something to do with it but I’m not sure why this cutscene was triggered. I’m thinking it might have something to do with Eddie? I noticed only a fraction of people didn’t cooperate with him and I also cheated all of the puzzles by breaking things open which upsets Alyson by ruining the magic
I keep returning to this thread because I love this game lmao, and I'm checking all the comments to see what I should do when I replay the episode to get all the achievements. I found something that maybe will help explain what you said www.trueachievements.com/a308910/a-new-chapter-achievement
I got Tyler's ending but wanted to get the achievement for Alyson's ending, to get it I only had to replay the end and pick that I believe Tyler's memory and not Alyson's. I only made good choices throughout the game so in both Tyler's and Alyson's endings they had a good relationship and kept their power. To get the bad relationship achievement I will have to replay (starting from chapter 2 is enough) and make bad choices.
I originally chose Toms testimony, not because Tom said it but because Alyson was so sure and I believed Alyson’s judgement, everything else I did was good though. They kept their voice, their bond was strong etc. Then when it said the statistics it said 100% chose the twins memory and I wondered what that said about me😓😅
So what is the correct answer, that MaryAnn was going to commit suicide and bring the kids with her and Tom happen to show up, at the perfect time to stop it and did nothing. Idk
I think the game pretty strongly hints at Mary-Ann being suicidal, not homicidal. Since the moment they find Tyler's diary and the books on her desk, it makes it pretty apparent that she was trying to look after her children and protect them, including Tyler who was struggling at the time. The information surrounding her mental health tends to reveal that she dealt with some pretty bad depression and/or anxiety, but it was not really indicative of her being psychotic.
i think the Mary-Ann don't want to kill her kid, Alyson is haunted by the theartening of her mother to Tom last night, she accidentally throw that memory to Tyler, make him confuse. Tom is the one observe from outside, he sure seen the truth.
Think aboot it why would mary ann want her children dead? She built a loft on the barn for them to discover more about what her mother was like when she oassed away, except that she was suicidal because that winter specigically was very hard on resources food and money, so she had no other choice, when ollie came into the barn she panicked... they both panicked cuz she was holding a shotgun but i truly do believe that mary ann was not going to kill ollie, is just that the twins had a very active imagination and can be seen by the book of goblins as well
@@ernestochang1744 I thought they said it pretty clearly in game. She was already unstable and couldn't bear the idea of having her kids taken from her.
@@Darkslide632 different interpretations of endings. If you want something clear its that they may never know the “truth” they just have to pick one and believe it.
For me i think this is the real ending even eddy one time said he didnt want her to end up like her mother but mother like daughter plus the whole game revolves around the book of goblins and everyone would agree to stay at the old house atleast, its there legacy just the both would have been happy and together.
So glad I choose to know the truth, marry an doesn't want to hurt kids, and Alyson and Tylor have to move on, so I choose to sell the house. Good Bye and Peace. - Jakarta, Indonesia -
I thought that by picking Tom's version of the story, I'd have the "bad" ending. What are we supposed to do then? Do we have to make the twins disagree in every decision they make?
Thi FCR fail the panic attack app and cheat on all of the puzzles by breaking them open instead of solving them as well as having the twins disagree for the most part. Tyler also needs to be very unforgiving with Eddy
Shiiet almost glad to hear that someone else had this ending too accidently. I found ending sad but somewhat understandable and thought that it was so called good ending but I guess not :D. But still I find it odd because when Tyler is leaving the house at the end Alyson connects with him with her voice when he is leaning to the fence at the porch.
Ok I just finished my first playthrough and was curious to see the "bad ending"... BUT THIS WAS THE ENDING THAT I GOT????? And I felt that somehow that was Aly's way of going on with the past, accepting what happened but going on (I also had the twins being close and it felt kinda "oh ok she is finally accepting the past and now making new history") but I'm actually confused on how I managed to get this ending 🤡🤡
this ending is extremely sad because Aly was the one who wanted to sell the house and she clearly needs therapy which she would have to be in Juneau and to get the money from selling the house to go to one
What is she gonna get by being the GuArDiAn Of tHe wOoDeN HoUSe ? . crying like a loser when she gets those memories again. I prefer the ending where they leave the city no matter whose memory was right.
i always knew the mother was not intending to kill him, it just didn't make sense. but before the whole Tom scene, i was thinking that the hooded figure with the big smile had possessed her or something lol
Honestly this ending at 1st seemed good to see. Because y'know I kinda hate empty houses. Then again when I saw her all alone I just hoped she don't become like her mother. She even said before that she needs to get outta this town for her own good. Good thing I chose Tom's ending. Atleast it made some sense.
also I called it that Tom was the dad lol, I said in chapter 2 during the store. "It's DONTNOD, the culprit is def closeby it must be Tom" *fowards to chapter 3* "called it!"
It may be more depressing, but at least it doesn't leave plotholes like the other one. This is the better ending, it makes the most sense, and I'm glad I picked it. 😉

late to the party but for me, the order of DontNod games from Like to Not like that much goes: Life is Strange 1, then Tell me Why, and then the other Life is strange games. Really loved this one. Definitely my second favorite.
Wondering if someone can clear up for me who the Ice King was or symbolises. Same goes for the frog and the moon hag - who are they? I guess the mad hunter symbolised her suicidal tendencies but I'm not sure about that one either.
Does anyone have a clue why Aly wanted to end their powers? I got this ending (expect that they moved together) but I don't know which decision lead to this :( (sorry for bad English:() (Btw I got an achievement that said the twins had a really strong bond at the end, so I don't get it)
I got this ending too even though I had them strongly bonded and for me it was Tyler that still owned the house while Alyson moved to Juneau. It’s so weird how these endings vary.
Spoilers The truth is that Mary Ann was going to kill herself and Tyler interrupted her and got scared and confused. (Bc she had the gun) Also Ty and Aly stayed close with each other living with Michael.
I don't feel it's a bad ending. Actually i think it's a pretty good one. They keep the house, Tyler goes to Juno along with his boy friend, Tom got his punishment and although they lost their voice, they still keep contact like normal people. So it's fine for me.
The (true) ending has these same elements, but it ends on a much happier note, where all three end up moving to Juneau, they keep their voice, and Alyson receives therapy to help with her trauma.
Everyone in the town never was able to confront their memories, but since the two goblins were able to confront theirs, They get to live with eachoher - True Ending Alyson persecuted her mother for the past. demonized the past just like Tyler did to Tom and his Mom. Tyler thought if Alyson saw what he did, They would be able to move on, but alas, it proves to repeats the past. With her nature as it is, she resents herself, can't be near Tyler, and the memories grow darker. The madhunter got won the madhunter kept the Tiara the princess, and a precious goblin. - Bad ending edit: if you read this, Don't demonize or resent your past. respect it for what it is, and nothing is absolute, no one was bad or good, But it was nice while it lasted
I kind of like this ending more than the good one. I mean, I got the good one, but this one has more emotion to it. I felt the good one was too dry and didn't give me any vibes. This one, however, was more touching.
It really doesn't make sense to me ,when u chose Tom's version that the mother was caring to not keep the house ,no need to live in it but just keep it ,like the barn w the loft and all of this.. but instead they sell it. And then in this bad ending that she snapped etc they keep it and Alyson even stays in it? Makes no sense
It doesn't seem that there's much to say about him. From what I've gathered she had an unplanned pregnancy and considering her excessively strict parents, she decided to run away to take care of him. However, the kid died (broken tiara story) which must have been a terrible mental wound, which would then lead to dumb decisions, naturally, like going for Tom. But I guess it is possible that this isn't explained of you skip the attic puzzles
same and at first i didn’t even get why she jumped up and closed the door at the end and it is just now that i understand that this was because of her past trauma
Can someone tell me: In the ending where Tyler leaves the house with a good relationship with Aly, are they all moving in together? (As in Tyler, Aly and Michael). Fyi I chose Tom's story and the twins kept their voice, also their relationship was pretty strong. Tyler and Michael also grew pretty close.
My first playthrough Tyler (Ollie) shut up the house. I wanted them to stay there and build a life though, instead they rented an apartment together with MIke.
i didnt get to watch the gameplay in its entirety because of how heavy the story is but overall i felt bad for the mom in general. seems like she was the only sane one among unstable ppl who all wanted diff things from her. hell even the kids werent mentally stable, and she dies for them. damn.

A no for me, Alysson deserve better than this
Felt so weak for Ally
She's a killer tho
Loved how their father turned out to be such an asshole. In most stories, it goes opposite, they find their daddy, he has all the explanations and they unite. Not in this one, he was there whole time, didint care about hes children, just buried the past.
I agree, it feels more realistic as well
Thanks for being heartless so we didn't have to
No worries
Hahahaha, true
I don't think Mary-Ann is capable of killing her own kids. I think she only meant to kill herself. Tyler thought she was chasing him, but she was only trying to explain.
Another detail that supports this is when you break into the evidence locker as Tyler and look at Mary Ann's autopsy report it shows her injuries weren't even fatal, she just chose not to resurface
@@aislynnsavannah4341wow… actually it’s not a good move from mother) and the idea to cummit sui….e. But before that I think she tried her best
Just finished this game. I sort of figured all along that the mom truly wasn’t bad... just didn’t seem to add up. But very interesting it can be played both ways
whew this ending would break me lmao
Alyson is so overlooked
I keep seeing comments that say there are only three endings but there are definitely four. Two where Allyson, tyler, and Michael all move in together then two where Allyson stays at the house. Everyone knows ab the first two but I think people get the last two confused. This ending is for sure the worst but in the other one where Allyson stays they can still use their power and the dialogue is a lot better the bond between tyler and Allyson is still as strong
Sorry this is so jumbled I feel
Nah it makes total sense, 2 endings with good bonding but different last choices and 2 endings with bad bonding and different last choices.
Finally someone released a video of the other ending, I was hyped af when I read there was another. I also got the good one 😅
I was so shocked this was my first play through and I got it this ending lol. I still haven’t watched the other ending yet haha
The one with them together
I got the happy ending on my first run, then I played a second run trying to do more bad choices than good ones. At the end I got the "end the game with a weak relation between the twins" achievement on Steam, but the twins still decided to keep the voice. Weird.
this just happened to me
@@probablykillua4680 same.. made me feel uncomfortable with that dumb ending
Bit late but I probably guessing the bad choices for the most part usually don't drive a wedge between the twins. Probably more driving a wedge between them and the community I'm guessing you probably get thus ending by argueing and choosing against the other twin at majority or every turn
I didn't got any achievement. But I got a good ending. Aly moved to Juneau
OMG this is so sad and depressing. So happy I didn't get this ending.
Believing Tom was the good choice
damn this ending hits differently 😭
I played the game twice for a 100% achievement run through. So had both ends... this one is really sad...
It’s definitely the worst ending but it is kind of realistic when you think of it, very sad😭
That is sad! I’m really glad I only got the good ending, this would have really depressed me.
WOW! I've seen a lot of different endings already, but never this one! It's completely different from the "usual endings", but still makes sense. Amazing!
This just hurts to watch
After I finished the game I felt so empty, like I had nothing else to do at all :(
same here mate I need some time to forget this game
My version was of course rosy, like most players had. But this ending is very atmospheric, love it. All game I was thinking about how talented their mother was, didn’t want this fairy tales to end. If there was second season after this ending it’s could be new drama story and with new cute and terrifying riddles
I pity Marianne. She's had a really rough life. Getting killed by your own child...damn!
I think that is where the story felt the weakest. What did she do for her children to think she was gonna kill them. Whether that was the false memory or real one you would think two happy children wouldn't think their mom was just gonna murder them and would try to talk or shout to her what is going on!?
mary ann drownded she couldved lived but she decided not to it couldve been suc1cde both ways
I only did this for the Achievement cause I wanted all the achievements
Very intriguing ending. I kinda wanna do another playthrough and try to get it, explore the house in that state.
It’s okay, I literally did everything wrong by accident and even broke open the puzzles instead of doing them because I was lazy why is why I got this
Wait what this ending is completely different from what I got it was the same type of ending but they decided to keep thier voice and Alyson wasn't depressed
I knew Tom was their father from the beginning, Sam was too obvious. And i felt that their mother was not that evil, that she would kill her own children. I mean she was messed up, but she seem'd to love her children in so many memories. She had terrible life, but she was not terrible mother. Well, in the end maybe.
Game made it clear marry Ann wasn’t really bad, but they force you into siding with ur brother or your the asshole in the end
I always knew delusion and self deception was a choice, it might be between some other bad choices, but it is a choice
So there are four combinations of ending, Chose Tom/Good, Choose Aly/Good, Choose Tom/Bad, Choose Aly/Bad... wonder which combination is truly the rarest of them all at this point.
I got choose Tom/Good I think choose Tom/bad is the rarest as it tells you the percentage of people who chose that option in the consequences section
I got the nice ending like everyone else, but I think this one is sooo much more interesting and engaging. It is a better story!
Game according to video: Tell Me Why
Game according to UA-cam: Life is Strange
OKAY i am VERY confused. I got the allyson ending where she writes the book, but I got the "twins4life" achievement which means they are strongly bonded at the end...maybe my game glitched out? They also kept the voice...
I had the same ending, kinda bittersweet. My take on it, is Allison found peace by facing her past so she stopped trying to run away.
thanks for uploading this!! i saw someone have a good relationship with Tyler and keep the power but still get the Alyson ending, so it must be because of something else?
I got that one !
What really???
I originally chose Toms testimony, not because Tom said it but because Alyson was so sure and I believed Alyson’s judgement, everything else I did was good though. They kept their voice, their bond was strong etc. Then when it said the statistics it said 100% chose the twins memory and I wondered what that said about me😓😅
Same I did this a couple days ago
Ikr wtf 100% ???
If you want something clear its that they may never know the “truth” they just have to pick one and believe it.
wait- this game has endings? hahah wow
If you were a true life is strange fan you would know the drill 😂
the only good thing about this final; the house wasnt sold, so Sam is happy
she became like her mother which is a very very bad ending
When i played 0% of people had it
SO DEPRESSING OMG
For me i think this is the real ending even eddy one time said he didnt want her to end up like her mother but mother like daughter plus the whole game revolves around the book of goblins and everyone would agree to stay at the old house atleast, its there legacy just the both would have been happy and together.
got this ending...felt really sad]
OH GOD IM SO SAD NOW
Thanks for sharing I got one of the good endings. Even though I picked Tyler’s pov and treated Eddie like rubbish.
I am too?!?! Tyler and Aly had a perfect relationship in mine- so I think it all comes down to who’s memory u choose at the very end
this ending is extremely sad because Aly was the one who wanted to sell the house and she clearly needs therapy which she would have to be in Juneau and to get the money from selling the house to go to one
I wish there was an ending here that they could kept but still have a good bond between siblings..
I got award for completing the game high bonding qnd still got this ending, i kinda love this i don't want aly to take blame for something already happens
late to the party but for me, the order of DontNod games from Like to Not like that much goes:
Life is Strange 1, then Tell me Why, and then the other Life is strange games. Really loved this one. Definitely my second favorite.
Wondering if someone can clear up for me who the Ice King was or symbolises. Same goes for the frog and the moon hag - who are they? I guess the mad hunter symbolised her suicidal tendencies but I'm not sure about that one either.
the mad hunter symbolized tom.
Mad hunter is father, ice king is probably the hard winter when family didn’t get enough food. But idk who or what is the frog
Spoilers
The truth is that Mary Ann was going to kill herself and Tyler interrupted her and got scared and confused. (Bc she had the gun) Also Ty and Aly stayed close with each other living with Michael.
I don't feel it's a bad ending. Actually i think it's a pretty good one.
They keep the house, Tyler goes to Juno along with his boy friend, Tom got his punishment and although they lost their voice, they still keep
contact like normal people. So it's fine for me.
the differences are them losing the voice and keeping the house and Alyson staying Delos but imo it's too sad I liked the other ending better
She has suicidal thoughts, its written in the book and its the saddest ending i ever seen to life is strange game :(
The (true) ending has these same elements, but it ends on a much happier note, where all three end up moving to Juneau, they keep their voice, and Alyson receives therapy to help with her trauma.
I think Alyson would be happier in Juneau with her best friend and brother.
I just got the Alyson ending as well as the bad ending now i have all the achievements and in game Collectables
Everyone in the town never was able to confront their memories, but since the two goblins were able to confront theirs, They get to live with eachoher - True Ending
Alyson persecuted her mother for the past. demonized the past just like Tyler did to Tom and his Mom. - Bad ending
edit: if you read this, Don't demonize or resent your past. respect it for what it is, and nothing is absolute, no one was bad or good, But it was nice while it lasted
Wow... I really needed to hear that last part... thank you
I automatically think: ain’t nothin’ but a heartache bc of the title 😂😂
I got it. It happens when u get the diamonds to unite most of the time or something
I kind of like this ending more than the good one. I mean, I got the good one, but this one has more emotion to it. I felt the good one was too dry and didn't give me any vibes. This one, however, was more touching.
It gives depression
Alyson was closer to Mary-Ann than Tom was and she did not hear what Mary-Ann said in the storm. There is no way Tom heard her.
Oh yeah will somebody tell me what was the case with the "Leo Ronan"? They never told anything about that child later
This was in my reccomended I have no idea what this is
I got this ending first playthrough without trying 😂

same and at first i didn’t even get why she jumped up and closed the door at the end and it is just now that i understand that this was because of her past trauma
Seems like Alyson is going down the same road as her mother…
I did it on my second playthrough only to finish the achievements
i'm causing myself pain and playing this ending ay ayyy
Can someone tell me: In the ending where Tyler leaves the house with a good relationship with Aly, are they all moving in together? (As in Tyler, Aly and Michael). Fyi I chose Tom's story and the twins kept their voice, also their relationship was pretty strong. Tyler and Michael also grew pretty close.
Yes, they all are moving together :)
@@ember_street Thanks
What? I'm not crying, you're crying.
My first playthrough Tyler (Ollie) shut up the house. I wanted them to stay there and build a life though, instead they rented an apartment together with MIke.
i didnt get to watch the gameplay in its entirety because of how heavy the story is but overall i felt bad for the mom in general. seems like she was the only sane one among unstable ppl who all wanted diff things from her. hell even the kids werent mentally stable, and she dies for them. damn.
There are many statements and evidences which suggests that marry Ann was a good mother and she loved her both childrens more than anything... I feel really sad for Marry ann, she deserved much better, may be sh
even though this is the sad ending i dont think it's so bad, alyson has the potential to be better than her mother
