I cut out carbs and added fat after watching one of your fatty liver videos. After three months, I have lost 45 pounds and my... ALT was 75, now 51... A1C was 7.5, now 5.4... and my LDL stayed the same. The doc was certainly upset with the high fat diet, but after seeing the results, all he could say was... continue to eat healthy. 😁
Hey doc, is it true that if I want to eat some rice (like for sushi) on a low carb diet I can refrigerate the rice for 24h and then eat it? can you confirm?
Dr. Berry, have you done, or would you consider doing a video about what Type 2 diabetics with insulin resistance who have adopted LCHF diets or keto should do about their insulin injections? Should we vary mealtime insulin first, long acting insulin like Lantus first, reduce doses, or reduce frequency first? Titrate to blood glucose? Is it better to tolerate a slightly higher blood sugar and take less insulin if one has IR? Things like that. I know you would have to keep it generic. I've asked my doctor and he doesn't seem to like the idea of how I'm eating, even though my blood sugars are much better since I got your book and changed my diet, and he wants me to go back to the ADA diet, on which I have gained 75 pounds since having insulin prescribed. Thank you.
I started Keto as a way to lose weight for a liver biopsy pre/ liver transplant. 6 months into keto I no longer needed a transplant. I believe this has saved my life!
Holly Stockton were you diagnosed with cirrhosis and reversed that? I’m at a 13 (f3) on the fibroscan and wondering if I have a chance of reversing or if I’ve blown my chances 😭
I gave myself best present for my 55th birthday, I lost 50 lb in 6 months! From 202 lb to 152 and going down 20 lb more! Thank you! Keto and IF rocks! Not only did I lose weight, I saved my leg from amputation, living life without inflamation and pain, no more swollen leg, no more fatty liver and diabetes! Doctors easily gave up on me but I put up a good fight for myself.
@@Joygirl411 thanks. I am at 128lb and keeping it easy on Keto and IF. Good luck to you, it seems hard but it was the easiest way to loose weight and get health back.
I was diagnosed 17 months ago with a double whammy to my liver - Severe Fatty Liver disease and Hemochromatosis. I have since lost 115lbs on Keto. My Severe Fatty Liver has improved to Mild Fatty Liver. I went from a Ferritin reading of 4580 to 400. I still have a way to go, but I’m on the right track. I went from 321lbs to 206lbs. I’ve lost over 20” on my waist. From a 60” waist to 36”. Keto works and I love it.
3 Card Monty dr’s say there is no cure for hemochromatosis and that it is hereditary. Reading your post has given me hope for my mom who suffers from it and dr’s are unable to help her.
Family Manager Yes, there is no cure for Hemochromatosis. I will still require Phlebotomy Treatment for the rest of my life. I went on Keto primarily to get rid of my Fatty Liver Disease. My Doctor was amazed that my Ferritin levels came down so fast. I believe the Keto Diet helped. At the very least it took stress off my liver, with it being inundated with fat and iron at the same time. But yes, Hemochromatosis is for life, and I will still require phlebotomy treatment forever.
3 Card Monty Thomas DeLauer put out a video recently about copper deficiency signs. Interestingly, he said that copper is required for our cells to take up iron and that without enough copper, iron builds up. Researching on this topic may be of some use. I’m gonna have my mom get her copper levels tested
I'm homozygous for the gene for hemochromatosis, haven't ever had my ferritin levels checked yet. Female so it's only more recently that I might have been building up ferritin. Had a CT scan for kidney stones and they described fat on my liver and gallstones. Have been carnivore for the 6 weeks since and plan to maintain it. I do believe it is the way our ancestors ate and the way we are evolved to eat and that's why we get so many problems when we consume fake food, food that is not real food for humans. Thanks for posting your success story. I know it's been awhile. Hope your ferritin level has gone down further. Congratulations on getting healthier! Started with 40 lb to lose, I have lost at least 10. And I do believe that this diet will also save my life in the long run.
I had fatty liver disease. My liver was 60 % fat on the scan. I started your carnivore diet. In less than a year and 50 lbs wt loss later my liver showed 11 % fat. Almost normal. Your proper human diet tranformed my health. I am 72 years old and thankful for your amazing program.
My brother cut out all dangerous carbs. No sugar, no breads, and added certain supplements. in 6 months he went from 240 to 189. B.P. perfect most important his P.C.P. was amazed. His numbers are all perfect. He has never drank alcohol, never smoked, and is active! He took a M.R.I. test through the V.A. recent and his fat loss to the liver amazed all the doctors! I am on board! Thanks for your informative vid! Thumbs up and subscribe!
Just seems so extreme to give up all carbs. We need carbs for brain function and the italians live a very healthy diet with carbs as a main component. Only they arent gluttons. They eat small proportions and dont get heavy with steroid raised meat. I think we lost our way once we began to supersize everything people also became supersized. If you are in trouble then drastic measures for drastic means. I think a sensibly based diet is the best course.
@@taroman7100 Your body makes enough glucose even when doing extended multi-day fasts. At the same time, it makes ketones when fasting, which the brain uses as an alternate fuel. In the late '60's, Dr. George Cahill fasted volunteers for 40 days. After ten days, he determined the brain was running on 67% ketones, 33% glucose. He then injected insulin, lowering glucose to about 20. Normally this would cause coma or death, but the patients were fine since their brain was running primarily on ketones. Dr. Dominic D'Agostino has repeated the experiment on himself.
I had it. I fixed it. I was also pre-diabetic. Quit drinking, cut sugar/carbs and started ACV+ lemon juice water. Also take Tumeric and milk thistle. Thanks to UA-cam-ers like you & Dr Berg!
I guess that helps answer my question. I was wondering if I completely stop alcohol, could I revert my liver to a healthier state? It sounds like the answer is probably "yes".
@@eventhisidistaken I stopped drinking alcohol for 10 years and I didn't see or feel much change. NOW....that I changed to Keto and I.F., my lower belly fat is going away ! I also started taking Choline, along with many other supplements for general health. Oh, and organic food whenever possible !
As of Monday 5/4, I’ve been diagnosed with fatty liver disease. It’s been a week and I’ve changed everything. I eat so much better, deny all fattening foods and cards. Drink just water and coffee when I need to. I work in a call center so I go on walks around our building on all of my breaks. This video has helped me a lot also. ♥️
Keto worked for me. Bye bye fatty liver! My doctor was clueless. Keep thinking that I had hepatitis. I figured it out with my own research. Thanks Dr Berry!
I was heading that way 1 year ago and after my mother passed from Type2 complications I got serious and the Doc told me I was morbidly obese! So I went OMAD and Fasting and changed my diet to zero to very very low carb and the fat disappeared in 4 months now I’m just fat and working on losing another 20 kgs! Feel good and trying to go full Carnivore! Hahaha at day 3 now with zero carb! The sugars make my body pain and joints hurt with water retention so bad I can gain 7 kgs in 2 days! Working on saving my life and I say thank you for all your motivation and energy !
Watching this while eating steak, eggs, pork, avocado, all on a pile of baby spinach and one small tomato. Thank you Doctor. I’m down 40 lbs since thanksgiving and have lowered my A1C to normal.
Hi all. I am Type 2 Diabetic. My A1c had bee running in the 7.9 range, and back in October,2019 I was diagnosed with Fatty Liver Disease! I got scared, then I got serious! I remembered hearing in one of your videos how a Ketogenic Diet could reverse fatty liver, and also possibly reverse Type 2 Diabetes, so I got down to business! I’m here to tell you My A1c was down to 6.4 this past visit January 24, 2020; AND all my numbers were down so much, fatty liver is no longer an issue!! In 3 months, with prayer, trusting the Lord, the Keto way of eating, and intermittent fasting, I have improved my health that much!!
DEAR Mr Berry. I want to take time to thank you for your help, for your advice. I followed your advice of No Sugar, Low carb diet. I switched to sugar-free coffee creamer and stopped eating wheat products. I was diagnosed with Non Alcoholic fatty liver disease by my doctor. Six months later there was no change un my liver. Then I watched your video and decided to take your advice. Six months later my liver is alot better. I'm on my way to achieving having a normal liver. Thank you very much
This completely reversed my fatty liver disease in about 6 months. I started eating a clean keto diet and taking milk thistle right away and when I went back for my fibroscan 6 months later, my fatty liver was gone. When my GI doctor asked what I was doing I told her about the keto diet and she told me to keep it up. She has seen multiple patients improve dramatically by cutting out the carbs and processed foods.
I went from almost 240lbs down to 160lbs. I just got really picky about processed carbs and sugar. End result, my hypertension abated, and i'm overall doing better.
Hey brother I was 260 something and now I'm 175 Did the doctors ever explain what was the secondary cause of your hypertension because that's what I'm wanting to know about myself
So glad to see actual research being done to support the stories heard every day! I’m so tired of people telling me my ketogenic lifestyle isn’t sustainable. I feel the best I ever have. I’d argue the chronic illnesses associated with a low fat high carb lifestyle are what’s not “sustainable” unless people like feeling like crap! Meanwhile I’ll be here spending my money I don’t gotta spend on a single prescription drug to buy high quality meat & seafood, drinking my fatty coffee, while I enjoy this terrific mental clarity 😉
Reversed my fatty liver triglycerides of 375 to 147 since end of October 2019 by going keto and IF and listening to Dr. Berry and other favs. No sugar, no grains and now in the normal range. 20 more pounds to go before my next visit. Thank you, Dr. Berry!
*I had Fatty Liver, was overweight, and borderline insulin diabetic. I went to clean KETO about 10 months ago and almost completely Carnivore about 6 months ago. I lost 70lbs, my liver has almost shrunk to normal size, and all of my lab numbers are now in the normal range.* *I've noticed many more benefits, but those were the big ones.* *MORE IMPORTANTLY ... It was because of Dr. Berry Videos that I was able to understand this easily and make that transition easier.*
That’s fantastic, I have a fatty liver and cysts on the liver, I’m doing Keto and intermittent fasting, I don’t think I could do Carnivore it’s too restrictive for me. I’m watching Dr Berry’s videos, along with Dr Jason Fung.
WOW! 8 months on Keto, lost 90 pounds (back to my 1998 weight). I'm over carbs completely although I do miss popcorn sometimes. This remarkable change has NOT gone unnoticed. I refer anyone who asks about it to your UA-cam channel for a complete explanation. Thank You!
Dr Barry, I listened to your video about 16 Montreal ago about the fatty liver. My Dr had just told me that I had fatty liver. I started the keto at that time to cure my liver and started taking choline also. My last check up showed that my liver is functioning normal now. I will never go back to eat the way I used to. I haven’t lost a ton of weight but I don’t expect to. Im 69 yrs old and have hormone problems my whole life. I have lost about 45 pounds though. Thank you for these videos.
I was just diagnosed at age 23 today with fatty liver disease. I currently weigh about 112 pounds at 5' 1". Currently stressing as I didn't even expect this diagnosis. My mom has it so we believe it to be a genetic factor. Looking to reverse this ASAP so I can live a happy, fulfilling life and watch my son grow up.
Fasting , exercise and mind care is the way to go I started this journey 6 months ago purely on the believe that what I'm doing is the right course of action 6 months in seeing the results I'm addicted to fasting
@@belarminomassinga461 it turns out, my NAFLD was due to taking a certain antidepressant. It was messing with my liver enzymes. I quit taking it and feel so much better and have had good labs thus far. I'm still taking care of myself though as if I still have NAFLD.

You might want to find a person who does the cheek swab for genetic testing. It will tell you what you should do to address the problem. A lower carbohydrate way of eating was how I got out of Inflammed Fatty Liver Disease (verified by liver biopsie, N.A.S.H. with moderate stage fibrosis and portal vein hypertension) starting in 2006. It wasn't low carb as in 5% of calories daily, but it was an extreme drop in them. I didn't do the higher fat part though, I just flat out went without. At those times doctors recommended that you dare not go on fasts because in some cases, supposedly, it had accellerated the problem. I basically fasted a lot and ate far fewer carbohydrates. Nine months later, I had lost 80 pounds, and the liver enzyme levels, and the ensuing diabetes' A1c marker had cleared up to well within normal range.
@@symboltherapper They were calling it a low glycemic diet back then. I stayed very mindful of anything that would raised my blood glucose levels rapidly. By that, I was only dealing with the problem in part, but it proved that it was enough to reverse the liver issues. I did take supplements that are known for liver health, like milk thistle Alpha lipoic acid, and choline. Vitamin C and E beyond the fasting.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this information and all your videos. My wife reversed fatty liver by following keto even though we weren't doing it for that. We were trying to help her type 2 diabetes and we were both trying to lose weight. She has lost 14 lbs and I've lose 40. Her blood sugars have come down from mid 300s to upper 100s AND her fatty liver went away! Most of that time she wasn't truly keto (old habits) but just the lower carb has changed her life. Thank you again for this wonderful information!
Thank you so much for sharing this and also thank you to all those that have commented saying they have managed to reverse the fatty liver disease . I am 50 next month and I have this morning been told I have fatty liver disease that has worsened . My favourite Aunty died a month ago from this . I had been told low fat and exercise more two years ago which was ok until I developed a heart problem . I am writing a shopping list and going to be eating low carb from now on . I want to see my grandchildren grow up
I was diagnosed with a fatty liver at the beginning of last year. I dont really drink and i thought I ate a healthy diet. I started keto in may 2019 and 2 weeks ago I did my bloods again and I'm all good. Diabetes, fatty liver everything. I love this lifestyle so much, it saved me.
Blood work does not always indicate your fatty liver......I was told 7 years ago and my numbers were normal until last year when billirubin increased. Get a liver ultrasound
As an RN of 40 years, I have always known this to be true. Glad we finally have Doctors agreeing. I watched diabetes turn into an epidemic because we have a whole generation of people who think every sip of fluids they have in a day needs to come out of a can, laden with salt & sugar. We have people getting bariatric surgery simply because they can't switch from soda to water. Anytime I need to lose weight, I go on strict Keto for a few weeks.
@Tom. They won’t do that. The pharmaceutical companies would lose money in the long run. The reps at these companies have lobbyists in DC. It’s lame. And frustrating.
There is a great documentary about sugar and the stuff put in cans of drink that switch off the brains satisfied button and therefore make you want it more. A third of the can is sugar or sucrose that is worse.
@@tomdixon1213 I agree there's no reason for anybody to have carbs in their diet. If you have to eat a small amount of carbs that come from a few vegetables here and there it's not gonna hurt you at all, but bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, etc. are all very bad.
Congratulations ,🙏Dr God bless you I comes to these videos God try to safe me ,I never doing diets in my life because I always been skinny except during pregnancy, I will try keto diets but I'm scared maybe I m more skinny
Wow!!!! This is amazing information. My primary for years hands me my annual blood work report, you have high triglycerides, high cholesterol, your A1C is high. Go on a low fat diet, have a nice day. Not one word about a fatty liver and in no way did she emphasize the danger. I had a PET scan for cancer in January and it was my surgeon who lectured me about the severity of my fatty liver. So much for primaries right. Thanks doc when will the general medical community get it?????
Hi Doctor Ken, I have fatty liver, I have been on the KETO diet with intermittent fasting since the start of December 2019. My blood results are showing an improvement with my liver, and I have lost a lot of weight, started over 120 Kilos I didn't weigh myself before I started, I'm down to 108 Kilos. My doctor is happy that I'm losing weight, but is critical of me using the low carb approach, I told him I was going to keep doing it and that the "recommended dietary guidelines" are what got me in this situating to begin with.
I actually told my doctor the very same thing! He shook his head, but he knows me well enough to know I’ll stand my ground, and if it’s working, why change?
This November I found out I had 70% blockage in my heart + surgery, and I had cancer + surgery, and radiation. Just prior to finding all this out I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (7+ A1C) and fatty liver. During radiation I lost my taste ability and I quit pop, all junk food, and I lost about 37 lbs. I'm finished with radiation and scared I might go back to my old diet, but I'm really wanting to go keto so I can feel normal & healthy again. Thank you Dr Berry for your video's, I have a strong feeling they just might save & change my life! ❤
@@fredharvey2720 there is a lot of conflicting evidence on this. Some cancer cells readily feed on fatty acids and even prefer it. Depends on which cancer in particular. Also, with a 70 percent blockage, is keto really the smartest dietary philosophy to latch on to? I don't think the data is quite in yet, but I would definitely follow the science that definitely shows CAD reversal.
We’ve been watching your utube for 12 months now. Been Keto 11 months and my husband has lost 60 lbs , halved his diabetes meds, with his A1c in the 5 range, and stopped a statin. Next to taper is the BP meds. He was diagnosed with fatty liver and I’m sure it’s much better now. You are fabulous at getting the word out there. Really liked your fibromyalgia post. It gets such a bad rap. Thanks for all you do . You are reaching more and more people. Many diseases can be managed by diet somehow someway. The modern world has forgotten that food can be the ultimate healer but it can also be a poison as well. Keto on!!!!
Yesterday, I had a conversation with an RN that was a Wellness Coach through my work's insurance. She was happy that I'd lost 62 lbs since last July, but she told me that Keto should only be used short-term due to the fact that it overworks the kidneys. From watching Dr. Berry's videos, I knew she was wrong, and forced her to prove it, but she referred me to another dietician. She wants me to ask my doctor to do a kidney panel and to refer me to a dietician to track my progress. I believe Im doing fine without one. I have researched Keto, and given where I was before at 355lbs, I think Im doing pretty well.
Dr Berry - I’ve had NAFLD for at least 10 years. These are my lab results after 100 days of significantly reducing carbs and sugar and 80 days of 16/8 Intermittent Fasting: Total cholesterol down 13%, HDL up 2%, LDL down 24%, Triglycerides down 39%, ALT down 51%, AST down 27%, A1C down 5%. This is the first time in a while that my liver enzymes are in the normal range. My A1C is my only out of range reading at 6.0 but it is now trending down. I’ve added “good” fats to my diet in place of carbs (I’m eating more fats now than ever before) and all my lipid panel results improved! I guess when there are a lot of carbs available to burn, the body burns “some” but the fat (even though I limited it in the past) is stored as fat. My goal was not to lose weight, but I did lose about 8% (mostly around my belly). My current BMI is 22.2. This is all a result of following your advice. Thank you! Will my A1C continue to drop by staying the course?
I'm canadian have been suffering with this for years...just found out when my abdomen swelled up and i had to go stay at the hospital. You've done more to help understand this then most of my dr's
Thank you so much Dr. Ken. I have been carnivore since Nov 1, 2019 and have reversed my fatty liver. Even with my success, my Dr still insists this WOE is not sustainable and fears more damage to my liver. This video helps me to educate my Dr. ❤️👍
Nutrition and Physiology My scans and blood tests continued to get worse until I went Carnivore. Now my blood tests are low normal (first time in 15 years) and my scans all come up normal. Eating fat does not cause a fatty liver. Eating sugar and carbs is the cause of a fatty liver. Cutting sugar and carbs will reverse it as it has done in mine.
I was diagnosed with fatty liver about a year ago. My doctor told me to cut back on animal fats 😮. Jan 1 2023 I started carnivore. Guess what happened?? Lost 55 lbs and no more fatty liver! My blood tests were great! He told me, whatever I'm doing, keep doing it. 😃😃

Dr Ken D Berry I experienced a young man at a GNC store in Paducah, Kentucky last week( the mall store) tell me that I should go to my health care provider because to be in ketosis for over two years was deadly and likely to cause me to have the symptoms of allergic reaction to whey protein, not an allergy. I got pretty heated and told him I eee my doc every 4 months and get bloodwork. I explained my 70 plus lb weight loss. My beautiful bloodwork. He began to tell me of his degree in nutrition and that I was in danger of my health killing me from keto( he ended this opinion with,” I am not a health care provider though.”) I told him “exactly! You are not! What you are saying is crap and you shouldn’t be telling ppl that junk.” I would have stopped keto that day from fear. If I hadn’t watched every video and live you’ve ever posted. This boy looked to be about 17 but since he works in GNC I’d say he is ruining healthy WEIGHTLOSS for ppl who trust his advice. Please address this if you can so other Dr Berry followers will know their (GNC )bad advice is crap.
@Alaska Blue you should have simply asked him whether he was the brother or related to Jillian Michaels. Lastly, I would have told him to eductae himself more. 👍
@@myapinion7440 Damn... you're ridiculous. Why on earth are you being nasty to Karl Dagenais?? Karl is exactly right... what can Dr. Berry do?? @KenDBerryMD: I sent a link of this video to a local news station (KGW) in Portland Oregon. You may be getting a message or phone call from one of the reporters who ran a series earlier this year regarding her journey to wellness following her diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes. This video needs to be shared like crazy and hopefully it'll gain significant traction within the days and weeks ahead. Thank you in advance for your time and effort that goes into these videos.
Hey Dr Ken Berry, just wanted to say thank you for all your great videos on the Keto diet and the theories behind them. After watching a ton of your videos, I started the keto diet on January 1st 2020 and as of today I have lost 10.2Kg. My digestive system feels the most settled it has ever been, my skin looks better, I sleep properly now and it has made a huge huge difference to my mental health and that is something I have suffered with a lot. Man it feels good. So thank you for sharing everything you are sharing. I will give you something towards your work on patreon soon. Kind Regards Gareth (UK)
After watching your video I started Carnivore plus intermittent fasting. In 9 weeks my ferritin level,HgA1C,Thyroid, Liver enzymes are all NORMAL. Just 9 weeks. Lost 20 lbs, 6inches on abdominal girth. Thank you.
Hi Dr Berry, that information is exactly what I have been doing for the last few months, and it absolutely works, it's so good to have a Doctor like yourself backing up what I'd already learned on your channel and also another good guys channel in Dr Berg, you guys are truly excellent, please keep up the good work. Had a high carb meal 2 weeks ago and my liver gave me a right kicking. Ached for hours. Reduced the carbs since then and feel so much better. Sleeping better too.
Dr. Ken - I originally came across your Fatty Liver videos from a Facebook NAFLD group at the beginning of 2020. I have NEVER had luck with calorie restriction & high aerobic exercise. I've been on a low'ish carb diet (you have said this is a very forgiving diet and IT IS!). My target has been 15% carbs are less. I'm 6'5" and haven't been below 300# since I was a freshman in college (FWIW - i'm turning 50 this year). Since starting this diet on 1/7/2020 at 314# to my weigh in today I'm down 19#. I still can't believe I'm below 300# for the 1st time in DECADES!!!!! I can't wait to go back to my Doc and have my labs run again to see (hopefully) an improvement in my numbers. THANK YOU for doing these videos! It has been, and will continue to be, a life changer for me.
Thanks so much for sharing this study Dr Berry! You are one of the few people that helped me navigate my way into the life-saving keto world. Your videos and book help been so helpful. 47lbs lost in less than less than 4 months and feel better than ever expected. Thank you sir!
As torchlight said, fasting is much easier when you’re fat-adapted. Fairly regularly I’ll be very busy and just forget to eat. I’ll be 18 hours into a fast having never even thought about eating!!
I had a large pizza and felt like garbage, resolved right then and there to do intermittent fasting with ketogenic carnivore. I just finished my 72-hour fast today and broke it with collagen and a bowl of duck fat. Dinner was a chicken breast seasoned only with salt and 3 eggs scrambled in butter. Lots of water and natural salts during the fast. I hiked through the forest and did some yard work as well.
Hello Doctor Ken. I started listening to you last week and I started doing what you recommended and within 2 days I felt the results in me. So I subscribed to your channel for all notifications. I enjoyed this video. I think I have found the answers to my struggles. May God bless you abundantly more than you can imagine.
Brilliant video - thanks Dr Berry! A close relative of mine has fatty liver. I was able to get her to try Keto. Only 1 month in, and she said she feels better already!
I dropped 30 lbs my first 8 weeks on keto. Threw in another 10 lbs the following month. I'm starting 18:6 intermittent fasting, after a mere three days my fasting and between-meal blood sugars have already dropped 10+ points into the low 80s. 4 meals after dinner I tested 83 moments ago. Last week I had AM fasting sugar at 100 or above. I would strongly suggest reading The Obesity Code by Dr Jason Fung. Also a low carb/high fat website run by doctors with a ton of help is Diet Doctor. Follow low carb/high fat/moderate protein and you'll be fine.
Alice W Bretz I do keto most of the time but I LOVE LOVE LOVE sweets and bread and potatoes so occasionally I have cheat meals or days(I don’t do keto for weight control). When I “cheat”, my muscles ache. I’m sure the carbs cause inflammation. Eating clean keto, I feel great. Good luck!
IN 2017 I was told I had a Non-Alcohol Fatty Liver, typical of my age at 54... Doctors gave NO advice to reverse it. I did buy Thistle Vitamins on my own ... In Dec. 2019 I found you, started keto and tested Normal in January 2020 for Fatty Liver. CW131 pounds SW was 144+... Thank you for all your help. I feel great and look fantastic with a NORMAL waistline. PS I was a Lifetime member of Weight Watchers, It only helped me to put on more weight. A LOW-Fat diet made me want more sugar! I echo many of the comments- keep up the awesome work- you have been a big part of my education. I have been on keto for three months and have lost 30 lbs. When I started I was well into my fifth month on metformin. I hated how I felt on metformin, did some research and ditched the metformin a week in. After one month, my A1c was down to 5.8. I just had it done again and my doctor and I eagerly await my results. I fully expect it to be below the 5.5 for pre-diabetes. Thank you again for all you do.
Kathleen Jones I had also been out on MetFORMIN and didn’t like the way it made me feel, so I took it only once a day instead of twice. When I told my doctor that, he got upset and said I “need to take my meds as he prescribed them”. So I said, “if my A1c hasn’t come down to your satisfaction, I’ll TAKE it twice a day, but if it has, you let me continue ur what I am doing!” He reluctantly agreed. When he came back in with the A1c results, he looked at my daughter and said “she wins”.
I am also at stage 2 nafld. This was revealed on an ultrasound almost a year back. Also through the roof were SGOT,SGPT and Bilirubin levels. The final straw came when I started drinking 20 litres of water a day and peeing almost the same. HBA1C was 14.3. Wife wanted to rush to a doctor and I have seen the laughable treatment protocols for diabetes. I had known about keto for quite some time even though I was guilty of inaction. Eliminated grains altogether , replaced those with chicken, veggies, cottage cheese eggs and three months later , HBA1C is 6.1 ( last week). SGOT,SGPT and surprisingly total Bilirubin levels are all normal. Haven't had an ultrasound yet but I will do it in a few months. I wouldn't be surprised if my fatty liver has reversed.
I was the low fat, high carb poster child. Work out and exercise obsessively. I was competing mtn bike racer. Body started changing after 50 and I ballooned to 200+ lbs despite all the exercise. My blood work about three months ago was awakening. High liver enzymes and some higher wbc counts that also "could indicate liver damage". And high cholesterol, especially triglycerides. NAFLD! First time that I had heard of such a thing. When the reality set in, I was angry. I followed all " the expert advice "! I was a self described health nut, but my health was failing anyway? There's one universal truth that has always proven correct: " if you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got". I knew the doctors advice and the glossy DASH diet brochure that he sent me home with was more of the same. It was crunch time! Time for a meaningful change! I started modestly with low carb. The higher fat still scared me. But I kept evolving and the results were confident inspiring. So I went a little further every week. Now I'm OMAD and down to about 30g of carbs daily. I've lost 15 pounds, my liver girth has decreased by 1.5 inches, and my visceral fat has remained mostly unchanged. My nervous Nancy anxiety is gone and I've discovered a renewed calm and greater acuity. I'm never going back. Slowly still going forward. I have a follow up blood test next month.
What state do you live in. I want you for my doctor. You saved my life. Literally you did from watching your videos. I had diabetes but now I test fasting and my readings are 100 or less without any meds or insulin. Thank you Doctor Berry.
I HAD fatty liver disease that was complicating an autoimmune liver disease. I started keto and IF in 2017. I have completely reversed my fatty liver from my last liver biopsy and fibroscan! I still have the autoimmune disease, but it is much more controlled. No more high blood pressure. A1C down to 4.9 from 6.4. Trigs normal. Cardiac calcium scan normal.
Thank you Dr Berry, I am in your debt I lost 60lbs of Gut (Belly) but it really was a Beer Belly I'm old and do not give a crap, (Thank Michelob Ultra (only 2.6 carbs per 12 oz) ) Weird thing that happens with Keto is you have to be very careful w/ alcohol ... You become a VERY CHEAP DATE. 5-6 Beers and you better headed home from the VFW ... you are done! (seriously, after that call a Cab) VFW Math, 6 x 2.6 carbs = 15.6 carbs, 95 calories x 6 = 570 calories of empty calories/carbs for that day KETO = I have 2 rules, Rule #1 I only eat (aka KETO food) when I am Hungry (Never go Hungry) and I do not eat anything when I am not hungry (I do not Eat by the Clock nor do I snack) and when I eat, I eat as much as I want and Rule #2 I Never Go Hungry, Ever... Period (see Rule #1) and that doesn't mean I avoid Karaoke at the VFW, Life goes on. Now I have noticed that after a couple of beers my appetite (aka lets fry some eggs) urge is apparent and I satisfy it ... It is called LIFE after VFW Karaoke night ;^) Eggs, Bacon, Brussels Sprouts, Hard Cheese, Steak and Carnitas (Pieces of Pork) = Heaven I am thinking about getting an Air Fryer to do my Fish (breaded w Mayo and crushed Pork Rinds) have my Fishing buddies using/loving that breading recipe now (and they are Not KETO) because it is SO GOOD ... seriously GOOD, I'm also trying to weed them off of their beloved Peanut Oil deep-fryer ... (baby steps). I don't Preach, I just keep showing up smaller, thinner and Healthier, they will ask and I will tell. Maybe the Air Fryer will help? I don't know, couldn't hurt and it looks easy to clean... that and paper plates looks good to me. My friends like me are all over 65 (one is almost 80), it is hard to change minds at this stage of life, BUT You changed my Mind/Life so I know it can be done, Thanks again (PS My Doc for the last 25 years is a great guy, he has fixed the EX Wife, Kids and sewed me up many times, but he thinks my diet is nuts and keeps pushing BP Meds (My BP is now 80/130) and Statins (Why?) and the Low Fat, Egg whites only type diet (Why? I am 60lbs Lighter, Leaner, Smaller eating KETO ) and my fasting Glucose is 81 mg/dL. I gave him your book, I haven't seen him since I did, although when I gave it to him, he did like the Title)
I am coming up on my one year anniversary on August 18th, 2022 on keto carnivore. No more blood pressure meds, down 43 pounds, no more skin issues, no more joint or hip pain. I rarely exercise except for a 1 mile walk every day. I eat avacados on occaision, and put butter in my coffee, but still have heavy cream with it and the occaisional piece of cheese. I am 65 and have felt better than at any time in my adult life.

When I first heard of the low carb high fat diet when I was diagnosed with fatty liver I was a little scared at first since psychologically you're trained by the standard pyramid diet. Im 5'11 mid 30s I started back in October at 235 lbs it's now mid February I'm at 190 lbs thanks to keto- low carb diet. Family sees the weight loss but still skeptical about eating more fat foods..... we need to re train our brains from the brainwashing that's been indoctrinated since birth. Even Kaiser told me to eat more brown rice and wheat toast..... no thanks Kaiser I like my cauliflower fried rice and my cheese/egg chaffle bread. I enjoy the food and love the weight loss.

Cool. Thanks for all this video information. Mid March of this year after watching many you tube videos, I started to eat whole foods, cut out 99% of all sugars, grains, breads, and processed foods. I drink either water or non sweetened Ice Tea with a touch of lemon. Then I will set my next strategic weight goal. I also do some moderate exercising daily, but it is the diet that is making me lose weight. Thanks again and take care.
Too many bariatric surgery post-ops go back to their old diet or transfer to a different path such as alcohol & get back their fatty liver, diabetes & more.
Nancy M Weasel That’s not always true. Foods are full of preservatives that causes gut issues also no one told bariatric patients that they can eventually get gut issues resulting in getting IBS symptoms in the form of SIBO. So it’s not always going back to old ways that’s what media shows.
I know 4 ladies who all did the sleeve or band and all of them have regained most of not more than their prior weight. It's definitely the carb addiction retaking hold. It's no joke.
@@mthoodstyle They would have done better to not have that surgery and just go keto. Meat, eggs, nuts, and lots of leafy vegetables and garlic. I think people get desperate and give in for the surgery. They think they've tried "everything", but I bet none of those nutritional counselors ever mentioned Keto or fasting to them. They always talk about eating "balanced" and "portion control". So they let them have a small square of cake, etc., and it keeps the refined carb addiction going, and they feel hungry all of the time.
@@gusgrizzel8397 The same could be true for Keto followers. They would be better off not to do keto because they are still looking for that bread option because the nasty almond and coconut flour breads are just not doing it for them. They also are craving sugars and sweets which is why they are constantly creating sweets treats because they are desperate to maintain the former live style of when they ate that way but they ended up with all kinds of health issues. In a way if keto followers are keeping the car addiction going too which is why they must live by the constant ball and chain of package reading and not over doing it on the keto desserts. *See any one can flip the script about someone's personal diet and health choices. I want to do something for me. At the beginning before each video, going forward, give your resume in one single breath. If I share this video with the many skeptics in my life, they have a tendency to hear the first few seconds and quicky judge the credibility of not only what you're saying but also your ability to know of sound doctrine of what you're believing and teaching. Give the number of years in practice, the general number of patients you've served and that you're an MD. A lot of folks have looked down on other keto doctors saying that they were not medical doctors but rather that their degree was in something else and, by default, these very respectable doctors get dogged. You, by comparison, have all the right components in place. Do this for my viewers, please. You are too powerful to be overlooked. Another great video as always!

Any updates? Did you completely reverse it?

@@taroman7100 Read "Big Fat Surprise".....the truth has been denied, hidden, omitted, etc! Very informative!!

What do you think about herbal medicine over pharmaceuticals?
Why not restrict total carbs permanently?

Were you overweight? What did you typically eat in a day?
Hi Doctor Ken,
I have fatty liver, I have been on the KETO diet with intermittent fasting since the start of December 2019.
My blood results are showing an improvement with my liver, and I have lost a lot of weight, started over 120 Kilos
I didn't weigh myself before I started, I'm down to 108 Kilos. My doctor is happy that I'm losing weight, but is critical
of me using the low carb approach, I told him I was going to keep doing it and that the "recommended dietary guidelines"
are what got me in this situating to begin with.
More people have to say this very thing to their doctors. Maybe eventually some of those doctors will 'get it'.
@@tosue1 Yes, you are absolutely right.
I actually told my doctor the very same thing! He shook his head, but he knows me well enough to know I’ll stand my ground, and if it’s working, why change?

Good for you! You're on the right track!
Keto also greatly slows cancers because cancer cells rely on glucose. Rob it of its fuel.
Ice Wolf That’s tough! There is hope with keto. Good luck!
You may wanna try a gerb called Schisandra...

Keto on!!!!
Thanks you-17 year old daughter just got diagnosed -thanks for the help
Honest science needs to keep prevailing. Thanks Dr. Berry. When this study goes public, let us know.
I've been doing keto and ketovore for at least 2 yrs. I just had a check up and my kidneys are perfectly healthy

Extra carbs are converted to fat and stored as well.

This was not a long term study. How would this prove there will not be long term damage to the liver?
Nutrition and Physiology My scans and blood tests continued to get worse until I went Carnivore. Now my blood tests are low normal (first time in 15 years) and my scans all come up normal. Eating fat does not cause a fatty liver. Eating sugar and carbs is the cause of a fatty liver. Cutting sugar and carbs will reverse it as it has done in mine.
Keep up the good work. Saving people, one at a time. My health has been improving since I started this way of eating and fasting. 👍🏁

What you are saying is crap and you shouldn’t be telling ppl that junk.”
I would have stopped keto that day from fear.
Too many people associate ketosis with ketoacidosis. 2 entirely different things! Good for you for schooling him👏👏

Had a high carb meal 2 weeks ago and my liver gave me a right kicking. Ached for hours. Reduced the carbs since then and feel so much better. Sleeping better too.
What did your high carb meal consist of?
First time doing a 72 hour fast wish me luck!
joe peters good luck

Thank you. I have just been diagnosed with fatty liver disease. My muscles ache constantly.
Id be making sure there is nothing else with bloods! High or low calcium is serious and does damage!
Good luck!

What was your Bilirubin level at?

Weird thing that happens with Keto is you have to be very careful w/ alcohol ... You become a VERY CHEAP DATE.
5-6 Beers and you better headed home from the VFW ... you are done! (seriously, after that call a Cab)
VFW Math, 6 x 2.6 carbs = 15.6 carbs, 95 calories x 6 = 570 calories of empty calories/carbs for that day
KETO = I have 2 rules, Rule #1 I only eat (aka KETO food) when I am Hungry (Never go Hungry) and I do not eat anything when I am not hungry (I do not Eat by the Clock nor do I snack) and when I eat, I eat as much as I want and Rule #2 I Never Go Hungry, Ever... Period (see Rule #1) and that doesn't mean I avoid Karaoke at the VFW, Life goes on.
Now I have noticed that after a couple of beers my appetite (aka lets fry some eggs) urge is apparent and I satisfy it ... It is called LIFE after VFW Karaoke night ;^)
Eggs, Bacon, Brussels Sprouts, Hard Cheese, Steak and Carnitas (Pieces of Pork) = Heaven
I am thinking about getting an Air Fryer to do my Fish (breaded w Mayo and crushed Pork Rinds) have my Fishing buddies using/loving that breading recipe now (and they are Not KETO) because it is SO GOOD ... seriously GOOD, I'm also trying to weed them off of their beloved Peanut Oil deep-fryer ... I don't Preach, I just keep showing up smaller, thinner and Healthier, they will ask and I will tell. Maybe the Air Fryer will help? I don't know, couldn't hurt and it looks easy to clean... that and paper plates looks good to me.

I eat healthy 90% of the time I've been eating mostly keto for the last 3 yrs I have a healthy weight 5'7 128 lbs and last week I was diagnosed with fatty liver so shocking! no one can believe it ! I'm very sad :( now I don't even know what to eat ..
@@griselgomez1 According to most testimonies read here people have gained great success from a strict keto diet. Your results make me question "healthy 90% of the time" and "mostly keto" as apposed to full on keto. Just my observation.
@@markallen721 what I meant is on the weekends I would eat unhealthy . There's a facebook page called reversing fatty liver and a lot of people says they got fatty liver after keto diet and doctors don't recommended , I've been on a mediterranean diet for about 6 weeks and my liver pain is less
@@griselgomez1 maybe you need to eat organic? Dr Berg recommends organic food. Less toxic.
Cool. Thanks for all this video information. Mid March of this year after watching many you tube videos, I started to eat whole foods, cut out 99% of all sugars, grains, breads, and processed foods. I drink either water or non sweetened Ice Tea with a touch of lemon. I am 73 yo and my weight started at 206 pounds and I am currently now at 195 pounds and working my way to first target goal of 190 or just below it. Hopefully by end of April. Then I will set my next strategic weight goal. I also do some moderate exercising daily, but it is the diet that is making me lose weight. Thanks again and take care.
Hi Ken, I would really be interested in the full article. Thank you for all the information and time you are investing in this :)
Wow. Amazing. I’ve been doing healthy keto for a month now & I feel better than ever! Love it!
Too many bariatric surgery post-ops go back to their old diet or transfer to a different path such as alcohol & get back their fatty liver, diabetes & more.
Probably nutritional counseling.
So you should not judge but respect others decisions to do what is best for them.* No disrespect or argument intended just a way to get you to reflect before you speak.
Dr. Berry, Are you lifting or is that just the carnivore diet???? You look great!!! Keep the awesome videos coming!! I lost 94 pounds on KETO and your videos educated me and inspired me! 🤓❤
Thank you Dr Ken For telling us all the truth!! I have stated keto and in just 4 DAYS I have seen a big difference in my glucose. I have brought my Glucose fasting from 184 down to 144. and I'm so please I'm going to continue keto. My doctor didn't even want me to try keto. I stopped my metformin 3 weeks ago I have not told my doctor because the last time I told him that I had stopped the metformin he started screaming and yelling at me.

Keto reversed my fatty liver according to the blood tests. My a1c also went from 10.2 to 5.5 in 3 months on keto!
Did you eat high fat meat?
@@Captain_Morgan_Carolina at the time I was eating high fat Keto, moderate protein. My labs have been good ever since, even though I’ve been on and off Keto for a few years. A1c stays low even when I go through periods of carbs, liver enzymes stay low too.
Also just ordered your book! Can’t wait to see the details. Thank you again!
A few days of 18:6 intermittent fasting/keto already has dropped my blood sugar 10+ points, even 4 hours after meal!
I'm just starting on this fatty liver road. My doctor has told me to have a low fat diet to help the fatty liver and also my cholesterol was a little high, made up of the wrong type of fats. I have about 77lbs to lose, but loved a low carb diet that I did several years ago.
Thank-you Dr. Berry for your great work! I've been on Keto for 2 yrs. and it normalized all my blood work.
