perhaps a video about improving "chess vision" would be cool. e.g seeing moves, noticing weakness, avoiding blunders. i mean maybe the answer is just 'practice and play a lot of games' but if there are any other specific tips that would be dope
Write down the things you need to check for (checks/mates, captures, simple threats, pins/potential pins, loose pieces, double attacks, alignment issues, trapped pieces), play slow games and before you move any piece run through the list. You'll soon be doing them without the prompt and at least from a tactical perspective you will be fine.
I also find asking "what is my opponent doing" as the first thing after their move reduces your blunder count massively! If you see what your opponent is doing but mis-evaluate it, you can learn to fix that, if you miss their plans altogether you'll never improve. From an 1850 10+0 (i.e. not an expert but not an amateur).
Oh shit it's T1J, i fancy your work
The correct answer is practice and play a lot of games
@@MattRowe182 dude you’re a lifesaver. thanks :)
@@MattRowe182 thanks bro
hikaru looks terrifying to face from the other end, and if you factor in that he's blitzing all these moves.
dude has played for over 20 years. Still terrifying.
Well now I'm starting to hear your voice in my head as I play, and it's usually something like, "Not the best move but I don't hate it", or "What is this? No human would move like that!". Seriously, you've really helped me improve enormously, and I'll know I've really improved when I start hearing your voice before I make the move.
Sameee 😂😂😂😅
😁I still hear Josh Waitzkin in my head saying "Noooo, that's not the right move. Try again."
My analysis usually goes like:
1. How to blunder queen in 5 moves
2. How to get forked
3. How not to castle
4. Take king to battle
5. Why is my rating dropping so much
You have more steps than Gotham does, thats a better analysis then!
I mostly blunder my queen in 1 move - you're going really deep!

Can sombody please explain to me why this video has such a big amount of dislikes?
Was it beacuse it came out right around the whole Indonesian drama?

I'm curious, too!!
It's due to the Dewa kipas drama.

I was familiar with a lot of these concepts already, but this was the most clear and concrete explanation of piece activity that I have ever heard. A lot of people talk about active or passive pieces in really nebulous terms assuming that it's obvious, when it's actually one of the harder concepts to grasp for new players.
I just did the search on how to analyze the chess position & come up with a few results. The first one, after listening for a minute, was the "best" which I closed down immediately whereas this coach shows & explains how it is done, energetically. Thanks. Subscribing to this channel.
It's Amazing how Levy makes complex chess concepts so easy. I was always wondering how do these Chess commentators say White's better or Black's better. Now I know. This improves my a game a lot. The fact that this is put on UA-cam for everyone to learn is amazing! Great content, very educational, keep it coming! Thanks a bunch! I was around 900 to 1000. I am now 1300 and improving all thanks to your videos. Kudos!

On a more serious note, I would really like to thank levy for helping me improve chess. His videos are great, and he explains complex chess concepts in easy terms for noobs like us. I really appreciate this video. I’ve always wondered how y’all could do that on the fly. Love the concept of diving deeper into the thought process of the strongest players out there. For my level (1200) I would love to see a video on how you can stop yourself from making quick moves, that you immediately regret. Or a video on how you think through your move decisions. when you castle and the other side attacks the pawn ahead of your rook with a bishop and a knight, do you trade the rook for the bishop and the knight?
Alternative Title: Levy talks about laser beams for 24 minutes
Hey Levi! How about a video explaining when it’s good to trade vs. when it’s bad? I’m about 1000 rating and struggling with that sometimes. I get that you’re supposed to trade when you’re up material and not trade when you’re attacking for example, but I still find it hard sometimes. Appreciate the content, keep up the awesome work
Very nice and informative. Thank you

What do you think is the best opening for a 1100?
Italian
@@lakshitsinghvi8692 I second this. I love the italian. It has been my favorite, my go-to opening for white ever since I started playing chess.
For d4 players maybe the London? I mostly play e4 so not much experience there.
For black, I suggest maybe stuff like the King's Indian Defense. Levy explained that it's one of those setups that you can play against almost anything. Though my personal favorites as black are the Caro-Kann and the Dutch.

me: the problem with evaluations is that it assumes me and my equally moronic opponent actually plays good moves
2:30 Couldn't bishop take the pawn, pawn recaptures and the you take the knight with your rook? And if he recaptures with his knight he can just capture that with your bishop and fork his the king and rook and after you take his rook and he recapture it with his queen, your just up 3. Edit: I just saw it showed that in the engine rip
