I'm allergic to nickel, so I'm a fan of stainless steel or titanium studs from body piercing shops as my regular earrings. Even gold or silver earrings from regular shops often have nickel in the part that goes in the ear hole. I never switch up my earrings, I just leave the same titanium studs (small round balls) in. Now I never loose them, and never have itchiness or rashes. They look good running errands, at work, or at a wedding. 10/10 recommend.
Yes I am also allergic to nickel. Always been since a baby. Sterling silver works for me and good quality jewellery that have purer metals. Also some stone types but it’s particularly important with necklaces more than earrings actually for me, especially the item on the chain I always need to double check.
@labyrinthwomb Interesting point about where you buy the stainless or titanium studs. I once went to a tattoo/body piercing shop and you’re right about the no-allergic reaction w/ their jewelry.
Aly I must compliment you on the top you are wearing. The slightly sparkly texture is lovely, and the way it drapes over your shoulders is so sensual yet subtle. The colour of course is perfect for you. Thanks for sharing the link.
My very first serious jewelry purchase was decades ago and it was a pair of pearl stud earrings. Ther have become my go to because they go with anything. I also love broaches.
I love jewelry. I always have! I had been collecting for years, but thought some of the bigger more “artistic” pieces were just too much. (I had been watching some style channels which emphasized “simplistic, demure, understated pieces” and no mixing of metals. That’s not for me. I wear the things I’ve collected over the years. I love it, I’m wearing it! Thank you for the lovely video!
Your content is absolutely incredible and I learn so much here. Even your videos from several years ago hold up and are equally as relevant! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us ☺️
Another great video from my favorite content creator! I enjoy freshwater pearl pieces, moonstone pieces, rustic pieces (pounded copper, tri-tone, mixed metal), antiqued metal, and the Brighton-brand pieces that don’t incorporate sparkle/rhinestones.
I like your sense of style and giving your ideas in a short and strict-to-the-point manner. I have really enjoyed this video, thank you. I love jewelry, even though I tend to avoid chunky pieces. Never could understand why (some people would try to convince you that's because you don't dare), but you explained it so logically.
I stopped wearing earrings when I started to wear eyeglasses. Now my favourite pieces are rings and necklaces. Bracelets are nice, too, but more in summertime.
I always feel awkward with chains and medallions, it never sits right on me. But rings. Rings i love, the weirder the better. I got abstract ceramic one, one that looks like hand watch, a tortilla with shaking head (broke it unfortunately) and more. Recently i went through my childhood jewerly and found a ring made out of seashell. It only fits on my pinky, but i loved wearing it during summer with other old funky pieces like a bracelets they used to put in corn sticks bags
Great video! I tend to favor sculptural abstract pieces with some heft while incorporating recs for Dark Autumn (and shaking hands with Dark Winter meantime), since this approach feels and looks good on me. This extends to pieces that nod to menswear: Watches, cufflinks, that sort of thing. I also appreciate some vintage and antique-inspired pieces and the occasional bit of whimsy, but they're not the overriding influence in my jewelry wardrobe per se. Any dainty and demure pieces just look like I'm borrowing somebody else's things--and I'm always nervous that I might break something. So nothing small or overly symmetrical for me; I'm liable to ditch it in favor of something more conceptual. Again, thank you!
I wear only gold and sometimes two old silver pieces, a ring and a chunky Kalevala-bracelet, all the other pieces are more on the delicate side. Earrings are a must, most often small white gold rings with small bright zirkonium.
I looked up Kalevala jewelry the other day--thank you! I like their bronze pieces; that kind of abstract look is just the sort of thing I enjoy wearing.
@@AngryTheatreMaker yes! My Kalevala-piece is old and not abstract as their new designs but historical replica 😅 I got if as a graduation present from my aunts in 1999!
Aly would you be interested in doing a video on non-metallic jewellery? e.g resin, wood etc. I have a very casual coastal lifestyle, I dont need to wear classic gold and silver to look smart, in fact weekday officewear jewellery can look a bit too formal and conservative in outdoor settings, and it can feel also out of place in holiday and weekend destinations. You covered this somewhat in passing in your last video but I would love to hear your thoughts on "weekend accessorising" with casual garment fabrics, such as chunky jumpers or crushed distressed linen.
I’m an earrings girl all the way! I’ve gotten to where I don’t like necklaces because they usually get caught in my hair 🤣 I like rings too but it’s often difficult to find them in my size because I have large fingers.
I love jewellery! In my teens and twenties I adored big chunky earrings but as I get older I hate anything heavy weighing down my lobes making them look stretched out. Silver is my favourite metal, gold just gets lost on my skin.
Ive stuck to a style blend of color season thory, kibbie and kitchner plus personal Earrings (maximalist , floral , classic, times baroque ) Necklaces (maximalist and a small percent minimal) chockers and pendant Have a gothic , romantic and vampiric and regal style So Dark Winter , romantic , ingenue types . Mostly on earrings due to my hands are occupied for crafts (personal and professional) Rings fr evening Necklaces be fitted or slight dangling for safety Anything used for formal events can be let loose (slight dangle to longer necklace) Silver and cool tone golds do suit best fr me and sticked to them

I have to see jewelry in person to make sure it looks right for me. When I've ordered it, it never looks like I thought, and it's not right for me. It's either too chunky, the wrong color, or the length is not right, et cetera. My favorite jewelry pieces are bracelets, and I have never been able to wear a watch for long as I demagnetize them.
Unlike other” beauty gurus “ . You’re so professional in what you do, you don’t talk nonsense and i love that ❤❤

I'm following some of this recommendations just before to see this video and I can say they're working very well, thanks Aly!
Love this video Aly, and Iam very grateful for all your advice over the years.
The grey powder/pencil for eyebrows has been a GAMECHANGER for me.

Hi ally, could you maybe do a work wear for the body types? Especially working in a office for example. Thanks !

The modern, crosses and metal is me.
Aly Art was very demure, very mindful before it was cool.
I don't wear jewelry because it has usually some glow if not crazy sparkles and I know it doesn't compliment me as a soft gamine

I don’t think „elegance“ is everything…. It is ONE approach to define a style, but it’s not „style“ itself… I also love Rock-chicks or Tomboys…. 🤷🏼♀️
