Yes, that is still OK. Make sure any changes you make are in small increments and test each time for stability. If you need to reset the bios then keeping the power button pressed for at least 30 seconds should do the trick.
Hello there, great guide on the tweaks and it boosted my laptop's performance by a whole bunch. I am using a MSI Cyborg 15 A12V i5-12450H and RTX-4060 GPU, my laptop limits the power usage on both CPU and GPU to 45W (according to online) and I wanted to test your tweaks. When you were explaining the IMON tweaks, the offset should be set below the CPU watt limit. My power supply states that it can provide 120W maximum to the laptop but not sure if this will affect the settings in the tweaks. If in my case, what value should I set it to according to your guide? Also, the temperature has noticeably increased, not sure if that is normal or not. Currently I set P-core offset to -70, IMON slope to 50 and offset to -19999. PL1 to 45000 and PL2 to 50000 (not sure if I did this correctly) Thank you for noticing.
Thanks for watching my video and I'm glad it made your system faster. If ever you get a crash and it won't boot you can reset the bios by long pressing the power button for at least 30 seconds. Yes, it is normal that it runs hotter because the laptop is no longer power limit throttling. You have tricked it into thinking that it is under its base 45w so it thinks there is no need to limit the power, but in reality you are using its max power. The undervolt will help but you may want to consider a cooling pad. I'm actually testing one that is very good. Best I have tried. What was the combined GPU and CPU power before the tweak? I suspect the 120W power brick is still OK, you can always plug it into a kilowatt meter and see how much your system is pulling. Power supplies are 80% efficient so ideally you don't want to pull any more than 96W.
@@OWNORDISOWN Thx for the reply, I will consider using a cooling pad for cooling. For your information, the power combined should be 90Watts with both CPU on limited 45Watts and GPU on limited 45Watts

@@OWNORDISOWN Thanks for the reply and your time, strange because in my case when the CPU works alone it can arrives at max 137w but when the gpu works together no matter what the cpu never goes more than 55w, also when the gpu is in low usage. About the update that you mentioned it is a bios update? because I already did all the updates that the laptop request to do so I suppose it is some manual update that I need tho check in the msi's website. @matheusmarcellos1374 I'll check to see what my BIOS is compared to what's on their website. I don't recall updating it but I have done so many updates on so many machines its easy to lose track, lol. There were a bunch of control center updates of course. You can try the imon tweak, that will stop it throttling down to its base TDP.
@matheusmarcellos1374 I checked my BIOS and it's still the original 108. One thing to note, shadow of the tomb raider likes a fast CPU, that's why I picked it. So that may be why it's using more power. Try a game like Far Cry/battlefield

Thanks. Glad you found it useful. I use HWinfo 64 and it shows the power being used. Yes, you can lower the power limits as long as you unlock the CPU over locking section. The advanced Bios allows it as should XTU.

So does this mean the imon thing you did will cause the cpu to heat more? Since its tricking the system that its running at a lower wattage but is actually running higher?
@@OWNORDISOWN awesome just wanted to make sure so I can start tweaking the Imon! Should be pretty easy since i have the same laptop and have undervolted cpu core, cache, p cores, e cores, to reduce temps already. I also lowered the cache ratio to 36 which removes the "EDP Limit", so with imon I can see "Power Limit" is gone so the only thing left is thermal throttle and TVB(which cant do anything about those 2). I also have low latency ram sticks which I have overclocked the timings and made it tighter but also undervolted the ram as well(which timings help with latency, stutter, 1% lows, responsiveness).
I always thought it only worked on an HX processor but I have had people claim success with an H processor. Try it and see. Remember to start with lower settings and gradually step it up for stability. If you need to reset the bios pressing the power button for at least 60 seconds should do the trick.

I have a Msi gt77 with 12900hx and 3080ti and I use it for video editing , do you think it’s worth this for getting better performance in premiere pro ?
You should still be able to do everything I did. Remember to do things in small increments and in stages. So for example do the imon tweak before the undervolt, if stable do the undervolt. Each time start with lower numbers. If you are too aggressive out the gate you may not be able to start the system, in which case keeping the power button depressed for at least 60 seconds should reset it.
Hi great video, I've an MSI Stealth 16 Studio with an i7-13700h, had been applying undervolting through bios for a few months now; didn't knew that MSI ring setting corresponded to cpu cache thank u for that.. As from previous experience, I have best performance and stability applying the same undervolt to Processor(core) and uncore to -75mv. Then, to E-Core and Ring(cache) I have them set to -25mv. [Just posted here the values in case someone have my laptop]. Other thing I don't happen to understand is why in my bios the memory configuration seems to be disabled, so I'm unable to modify the timing and all the parameters; instead I can only modify the max frequency which if I do I just brick the bios and have to reset... don't know if this is disabled due to having the factory ram or what but I don't thing so because the memory sticks support up to 5600mhz and my bios sets them 5200mhz...
Hi. Maybe u know wtf with my laptop? I have my original charger was dead. I got another one the same nodel. Thats works perfectly. But my laptop become superslow. Like pentium 4. Its feels like battery mode is turned on. But its not. I'm already factory reseted but it's not helped. God damn.
That sucks. I assume it is still slow when on battery? Wonder if it is your SSD playing up? If thermals are OK and the CPU power and clocks look OK then I would try cloning your C drive onto another ssd. Remove the original and boot off the new ssd. Make sure it's not something else first. I remember once my CPU was pegged at like 768 MHz. Can't remember what I did to fix it. Think it was a bios update.
You should be able to get into the advanced Bios OK, just not sure what options you have. Remember to make gradual changes and if your system freezes or fails to boot up I found that long pressing the power button for at least 30 seconds clears everything
I'm sorry i tried watching this video 100 times but i just don't understand. Just want to OC my cpu to handle beam ng drive. Its very cpu intensive, i have a 12th gen i7 at like 1260 mgh, i know its throttling either by power or temps. I can't understand the structure of this material the voltage offsets do i want to increase cpu clock speed or undervolt i dont even get the instructions when the numbers come up. Im on a msi laptop and i think the max TDP is 45 watts but i know i can push more performance out of it but im not finding a whole lot of answers on low wattage powered machines that are made within like a few years recent bios mobo all that. Whats the problem why cant i just unlock my cpu for a little bit more performance? I dont get what im doing at all, i just want to be able to unthrottle my cpu for whatever reason but i cant find anything on the Internet except this video and the instructor is impossible to understand without questions. When he gets to the processor section i just get lost because i have no idea what watts to type in for my specific cpu and i dont want to break it. Edit: Ty for the info the video was very helpful i ended up just copying you don't really know what any of these bios settings even do i have to sit here and google each category just to find out what it is. Anyway cheers hope others dont have a difficult time like me.
The first thing you need to do is go into the advanced Bios by pressing simultaneously left Alt, Right cntrl, right shift and F2. Onnce in there you should be able to undervolt at minimum. Try that and see if it helps it maintain a higher boost clock. The Imon tweak options may not even be available in your system. But if it is the premise is to trick the CPU into thinking it's not reached its PL1 value, which is it long term power limit. The instructions are quite clear, no one else has reported any confusion... There are posts on Reddit about the tweak so you can always go on there if you are stuck.
@OWNORDISOWN I've disabled the Power limits Pl1 and Pl2, Problem is I don't know what values to start undervolting at I don't want to guess a random number.
I did manage to copy the video and I've seen improvements in fps definitely in single core performance it's just going to take a lot of tweaking and I just don't know know what any of these settings really do Anyway ty for the video it did help
You will have to reset the Bios. It's always best to make changes gradually and one step at a time. Keeping the power button pressed for about a minute should reset it. Can you give that a try?
Left Alt, Right Control, Right Shift, F2 while you are in the BIOS menu Only works on MSI laptops. Please do the tweaks one step at a time and in small increments to ensure stability. If your system fails to boot try pressing the power button for at least 60 seconds.

@@OWNORDISOWN Yeah I got past lack of g-sync and just use adaptive sync instead in Optimus mode. I haven't noticed a performance loss compared to dGPU mode. The only time piping through the Intel iGPU is a bottleneck is with really high FPS games, but playing at 4K ultra or even 1440P ultra I get the same FPS in dGPU mode that I do in Optimus, so I have just permanently left it in Optimus mode. Adaptive sync is actually working really really well, but in future I would still prefer g-sync. I know it's a stupid thing to care about on a massive desktop replacement but even battery life is good if you put it in iGPU mode. I got 6 hours watching Netflix, that's pretty darn good for what it is. I do like that you have a dedicated iGPU mode that completely disabled the Nvidia GPU for those times you might need battery. Yes, that is still OK. Make sure any changes you make are in small increments and test each time for stability. If you need to reset the bios then keeping the power button pressed for at least 30 seconds should do the trick.
Will this work for Raider 18 HX with i9-14900hx? Thanks.

Try lowering the settings.
hi I applied all you said to my msi katana gf66 11 UC and now it doesnt switch on 😢 what I can do to fix this, I really need help
PL1 to 45000 and PL2 to 50000 (not sure if I did this correctly)
Thank you for noticing.
@@JxsAdi Hey mate, I have exactly the same PC, have you found the best possible options in terms of optimization? thanks
Is there a "IMON tweak" for laptop GPU?
I do know about vBIOS flashing, however that is hard to do if the right vBIOS doesn't exist.
6:06 How did you make the cpu on stock bios arrive at 95w with the gpu at 130w too? in my laptop (ge67hx) when the gpu is in full load, the cpu does not go over than 55w.
I think there must have been an update pushed by MSI because when I first got it, even in a CPU only load it struggled to hold 115w.
Greetings from Brazil

I believe you may need an HX processor, although one of my subscribers managed to unlock the advanced Bios on his nitro 5 and do it.
Is this settings good for i913980hx?
Thanks for sharing your settings 👍

@OWNORDISOWN I've disabled the Power limits Pl1 and Pl2,
Problem is I don't know what values to start undervolting at I don't want to guess a random number.
I did manage to copy the video and I've seen improvements in fps definitely in single core performance it's just going to take a lot of tweaking and I just don't know know what any of these settings really do
Anyway ty for the video it did help
