    Impossible!
    Joking aside, great review as always stephen, very hard to find this stuff on other ''techtuber'' channels. And of course, according to some, undervolting is a meme, so you shouldn't bother with it and just let OEM's lock it out of the bios level and intel locking it down even more.

    This is very useful, I was really tired of the fact that my i7 13700h while playing after a few minutes the tdp was reduced to 45w and 3200mhz~ obtaining a mediocre performance (worse than my old desktop ryzen 5600), after much research I found this solution and voila, now I get sustained performance, and I have combined it with TrottleStop, to adjust the multiplier according to my needs and so that it does not go over temperature. This is magnificent.

    Quick suggestion: If you want to raise the cpu power limit but don't want the cpu to utilize high wattage you can set pl1 and pl2 in the bios, for example my pc has a 45 watt limit on the cpu, I used an Imon slope of 50 and an Imon offset of 19999 and in the bios i set the pl1 and pl2 to 20 so that my cpu can pull more than 45 watts but can't go above 80 watts in order to reduce temp and lower power consumption, hope this helps

    Oh my fucking god it actually worked! You, sir, are a legend. Thank you so much! I've been having problems with power limit throttling for years on my GE76 Raider and I've wasted so much time trying to solve them by setting large time values for PL states.
    My CPU's TDP is just 45W, but ever since I beefed up the cooling, 45W has been way too limiting. Now I can run 90W and I'm still under 95 degrees Celsius. I was under 70 degrees with 45W which, for a high-powered notebook, might as well be 100 degrees below absolute zero.

    Hi. Today i have updated the micro code on my 13980HX cpu in my Msi GT77 Titan HX 13VI. Just in case it will start degrading in performance and longevity sooner rather than later like the desktop models of 13th and 14th gen. I had 10F micro code then immediately downloaded the 12B micro code and opened uninstall.bat and then install.bat files in that package. And voila, done. Just make sure if anyone wanna do the same to make your 13th or 14th gen cpu more stable, disable all Virtualization services before you do this. and google until you find a guide for micro codes for 13th and 14th gen intel cpus. You also wanna disable core isolation.

    Hello there, great guide on the tweaks and it boosted my laptop's performance by a whole bunch.
    I am using a MSI Cyborg 15 A12V i5-12450H and RTX-4060 GPU, my laptop limits the power usage on both CPU and GPU to 45W (according to online) and I wanted to test your tweaks. When you were explaining the IMON tweaks, the offset should be set below the CPU watt limit. My power supply states that it can provide 120W maximum to the laptop but not sure if this will affect the settings in the tweaks. If in my case, what value should I set it to according to your guide?
    Also, the temperature has noticeably increased, not sure if that is normal or not.
    Currently I set P-core offset to -70, IMON slope to 50 and offset to -19999. PL1 to 45000 and PL2 to 50000 (not sure if I did this correctly)
    Thank you for noticing.

    • @OWNORDISOWN
      @OWNORDISOWN  9 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching my video and I'm glad it made your system faster. If ever you get a crash and it won't boot you can reset the bios by long pressing the power button for at least 30 seconds.
      Yes, it is normal that it runs hotter because the laptop is no longer power limit throttling. You have tricked it into thinking that it is under its base 45w so it thinks there is no need to limit the power, but in reality you are using its max power. The undervolt will help but you may want to consider a cooling pad. I'm actually testing one that is very good. Best I have tried.
      What was the combined GPU and CPU power before the tweak? I suspect the 120W power brick is still OK, you can always plug it into a kilowatt meter and see how much your system is pulling. Power supplies are 80% efficient so ideally you don't want to pull any more than 96W.

    • @JxsAdi
      @JxsAdi 8 місяців тому

      @@OWNORDISOWN Thx for the reply, I will consider using a cooling pad for cooling. For your information, the power combined should be 90Watts with both CPU on limited 45Watts and GPU on limited 45Watts

Each time start with lower numbers. Hi great video, I've an MSI Stealth 16 Studio with an i7-13700h, had been applying undervolting through bios for a few months now; didn't knew that MSI ring setting corresponded to cpu cache thank u for that..
    As from previous experience, I have best performance and stability applying the same undervolt to Processor(core) and uncore to -75mv.
    Then, to E-Core and Ring(cache) I have them set to -25mv. [Just posted here the values in case someone have my laptop].
    Other thing I don't happen to understand is why in my bios the memory configuration seems to be disabled, so I'm unable to modify the timing and all the parameters; instead I can only modify the max frequency which if I do I just brick the bios and have to reset... don't know if this is disabled due to having the factory ram or what but I don't thing so because the memory sticks support up to 5600mhz and my bios sets them 5200mhz...

I can't understand the structure of this material the voltage offsets do i want to increase cpu clock speed or undervolt i dont even get the instructions when the numbers come up. Im on a msi laptop and i think the max TDP is 45 watts but i know i can push more performance out of it but im not finding a whole lot of answers on low wattage powered machines that are made within like a few years recent bios mobo all that. Whats the problem why cant i just unlock my cpu for a little bit more performance? I dont get what im doing at all, i just want to be able to unthrottle my cpu for whatever reason but i cant find anything on the Internet except this video and the instructor is impossible to understand without questions. When he gets to the processor section i just get lost because i have no idea what watts to type in for my specific cpu and i dont want to break it.

      The first thing you need to do is go into the advanced Bios by pressing simultaneously left Alt, Right cntrl, right shift and F2. Onnce in there you should be able to undervolt at minimum. Try that and see if it helps it maintain a higher boost clock. The Imon tweak options may not even be available in your system. But if it is the premise is to trick the CPU into thinking it's not reached its PL1 value, which is it long term power limit. The instructions are quite clear, no one else has reported any confusion... There are posts on Reddit about the tweak so you can always go on there if you are stuck.

      @@OWNORDISOWN Yeah I got past lack of g-sync and just use adaptive sync instead in Optimus mode. I haven't noticed a performance loss compared to dGPU mode. The only time piping through the Intel iGPU is a bottleneck is with really high FPS games, but playing at 4K ultra or even 1440P ultra I get the same FPS in dGPU mode that I do in Optimus, so I have just permanently left it in Optimus mode. Adaptive sync is actually working really really well, but in future I would still prefer g-sync. I know it's a stupid thing to care about on a massive desktop replacement but even battery life is good if you put it in iGPU mode. I got 6 hours watching Netflix, that's pretty darn good for what it is.
      I do like that you have a dedicated iGPU mode that completely disabled the Nvidia GPU for those times you might need battery.
      Besides some flaws that everyone has, for example driver issues with speaker pops, it's all been good. Very enjoyable kb to type on, great performance, it's been great overall. Cheers!

      You will need to reset your BIOS. Keeping the power button depressed for at least 60 seconds should do the trick. Let me know how you get on. Any changes in the bios should be done incrementally to ensure stability.
