hello man, I really need help. I just bought intel version of HP omen 15 and I don't know how to get into its advanced bios. Can you pls help me so I can enable its undervolting option? thank you!
Is the gs66 fans quiet at idle mode when doing simple things like browsing and watching UA-cam?? And what's the Temps on doing simple tasks at idle mode??
The GS65 also has the advanced options in BIOS but you must boot into the bios first using DEL key, then once in BIOS you press right Ctrl, right shift, left alt and f2.
I tried this on my MSI Crosshair 15 with an i7 11800H and it's perfectly fine! So if anyone has a question about whether it works with the i7 11800H, it works. It's never been this quiet! Thank you so much bro!
Great video man! Just got my Msi GF65 thin today, i5 10th gen, rtx2060. I was getting very hot but after i undervolted it, it droped from around 92 celcius to around 72 celcius! awsome.
Just for you to know, I have the same laptop with the 2070 s max q. I tried -100v undervolting, it was fine, but during intensive gaming sessions(+2 hours) a blue screen with an error popped out and windows force restarted. And it kept doing that for a while, then I changed the settings to -0,75 and now it works fine. I run a 45 minutes stress test just to be sure
@@toeknee3302 You didn't hit the silicon lottery then. Mine undervolts stable -125mv, has never crashed. Undervolting isn't really the problem. You need to limit boost frequency. What is the best undervolt you recommend for the i7-1050H? Also, I have seen many people complain that their BIOS settings didn't save once they clicked on "save BIOS'" or something, and also read on a page about undervolting on MSi laptops that clicking "save BIOS" doesn't actually save it but instead you have to do something else, which unfortunately the writer didn't mention. Would really appreciate if you replied to let me know how to save the changes in the BIOS and what the best undervolt for 10th gen i7 is.
I have a 10th gen CPU, and the bios it says XTU inferfaced enabled. However in XTU it only allows an increase in voltage. I can also undervolt in the bios but only in increments of 1. I don't really fancy jumping -1 volt.
@@JarrodsTech On my GE75 with same cpu they set all core boost to max 4.4ghz, which is what intel said was possible given current thermal solutions for laptop, why MSI set everything on 53x on your GS66 baffles me a bit.
I love these types of performance gaming laptop videos you do! In depth! However I would love a video of you using a bootcamp'd (latest RX 5500M 8gb Gddr6 paired with i9 and 32gb sodimm) and then reviewing the gaming performance, thermals and any pro's and con's to using apple architecture with windows software/programs/games. In fact for the past 4 months I have been rocking that very MacBookPro 16inch setup...I only use it to play R6Siege and wow it boasts really good gaming performance but I havent done anything past that. I am considering making it my professional and gaming all in one. Moving over my editing programs (Premier, and AVID and Resolve) and using not only for gaming but also for professional work use. Thermals are the only issue, it seems to get 10-15c hotter in windows than in MacOS. I have elevated my mac and put two PWM 120mm fans under neath which provide very good cooling mind you it makes my office loud. Should I put new thermal paste? I love windows more than MacOS, it just works better and I just cannot seem to get used to MacOS which is affecting my editing. It's weird to say from a long time PC user but my MacBook Pro is running windows better than any of my beefy PC rigs...which is why I want to convert using strictly bootcamp windows but on a MacBook Pro haha. Let me know any thoughts on this and I would love if you conducted the same experiment.
Cheers! You'll probably never see any macbook content on the channel unfortunately. The channel is way too small for Apple to care about, and given a lot of larger channels review their machines I'd be spending thousands of my own money for little gain, unfortunate but that's the way it is unless someone is able to loan me a machine.
For the people having trouble not applying the settings in the bios before you can save you need to press again the combination and then you can save. Even after Xtu didn’t work but I managed to get it work with throttle stop for me I have achieved around -110 with no errors
Hey Jerrod, I enabled XTU interface from the advanced bios (and saved and exited obviously) but its locked in the XTU software. Am I missing something?
Hey Jarrod, I need a laptop for school and gaming. The battery life can’t be too short, but I don’t need 10+ hours either. I’m looking for a price between $1000 - $1500. I was thinking of buying the Asus G15 or A15. I don’t want to give people virgin vibes with the laptop so it can’t be looking flashy. I don’t need it right now I can wait a month or two if needed. What do you think is a suitable laptop for me?
That price point has traditionally been my Y540/Helios 300 range, so based on what you said, Y540. Haven't tested G15 or A15 so can't make a recommendation there.
Ge66 raider, because of its space for the cold air, so its chassis performances are better. For the rest it's only appearence. GE66 looks more aggressive and it has the lighting bar on front that is very cool
Hice lo de la BIOS, guardando y saliendo. pero luego cuando vuelvo a abrir la BIOS, esos cambios ya no aparecen, cómo si no se hubiese guardado. (tengo el msi gs66)
Would QuickCPU be a better option for undervolting in this laptop? I feel that it might be safer as well. It will also allow you to tweak your core multiplier easily and if it fails just reboot your machine to get back to stock settings.
No, because there's no guarantee it will be stable on your hardware. If you don't mind doing some stress testing etc to see if it's stable then sure go ahead, just expect app crashes/possible blue screen/restart.
hey jarrod i want to ask again, ryzen 5 3550h + gtx 1650 or i5 9300h + gtx 1650 max q. both of them comes with the same price. i want to know which 1 is powerful for gaming. i hope u reply 😄
Ryzen 3rd gen is pretty weak, so intel will give u more fps than ryzen but idk intel i5 thermal. For Ryzen 5 its fine. 75-80° 80%load. In my country ryzen 5 is cheaper than intel ver. Ryzen 5 with gtx 1650 is 630USD, i5 with gtx 1650 is 750 USD. But 4th gen Ryzen is beast > Intel i5 10th gen.
I'm guessing entirely as I've never tested either config, but probably the i5 and the Max-Q, given the GPU is on the lower end you'll be playing games at lower setting levels and the CPU difference will make a bigger change there.
Hi Jarrod, what's the best undervolt you were able to achieve and does keeping MSI Dragon Center negatively impact the ability to undervolt (due to some OC applied etc)?
I don't spend any time trying to finely tune them as it varies by hardware so it would just be a waste of my time as it wouldn't represent what most people would experience anyway
Hi Jarrod. I recently purchased an msi GL65 10SFK with a core i7 10750h and OC able RTX 2070. Through the advanced BIOS, I wasn’t able to find anything about overclock settings or anything that allowed to to alter core and cache voltage offsets. As this is a different model the BIOS is a little different as well, but I have seen comments on other videos that there is an option in my model’s BIOS to unlock undervolting, but I have scrolled though around 3 times and have had no luck with finding it. In XTU it’s locked, but with throttlestop i can alter core and cache voltage offsets and apply but it doesn’t change anything. Could you help me out please? Thanks Jarrod!
How do we clean the fans on Msi gs66 stealth because I’m getting it and I don’t know how to clean it myself and plus I don’t wanna take it to a pc repair shop
I try it on my GE 75 Raider 10SFS undervolting is not enabled in ThrottleStop and Intel XDU, i try undervolt in Bios but after this when i boot my laptom shows only black screen, why i cant undervolt this shit ...sad
There are two additional options to disable. CFG lock and Overclock lock. They are under: Advanced > Power and Performance > CPU power management control > CPU lock configuration
When you get the Razer Blade 15 Adv. Model 2020 in your hand, could you please check if there is a way to undervolt this machine aswell? I got mine today but i cant find a way to undervolt the cpu in the bios (AMI Bios)
I guess the bigger screen and more powerful GPU on the blade might be nice 🤔 can't say I'd be looking at either for that task personally. I'd be looking at the Aero 17 with HDR screen or 15 with OLED personally, similar price point and specs but more features (SD card/bigger battery etc).

Hey, I tried enabling xtu through Bios, but without any further changes my laptop fans now run constantly and quite loudly. I tried resetting to optimized default through Bios. Is there something I am missing here, or is this normal for laptop fans? I'm on a Gf65 thin. Thanks. Edit - even right after booting up, MSI dragon centre registers my CPU temp at around 90 degrees even when I'm not doing anything
Hey Jarrod, great vid. But does dragon center keep all the user options when you change the bios settings? Can you still change performance modes / set a custom fan curve? I lost half my options after I opened up the overclock and xtu menu 😅

Did you get it bro?
wont let me unlock the xtu core voltage toggle with my msi gl75...anybody have that issue?
same for me with my gs75 stealth 10th gen
I have a 10th gen CPU, and the bios it says XTU inferfaced enabled. However in XTU it only allows an increase in voltage. I can also undervolt in the bios but only in increments of 1. I don't really fancy jumping -1 volt.
yikes
@@JarrodsTech or maybe it's actually going -1 mV?
I found more benefits from undervolting then underlocking my i7 10750 to 3.0ghz. Down 13+C under load with no performance differences in games.
I set undervolting to -0.05 and underlock cpu to 3.4ghz to my i7 -10750h. down 10-14 degrees, works fine :D
3:30 isn't the 5.3 GHz just single core boost speed ( thermal velocity boost) ?
At stock, yes, but you can see on video XTU has the all 8 core boost set to 5.3GHz by MSI.
@@JarrodsTech that's Insane! That's even higher than 9900KS if I am not wrong
Love the videos Jarod
Any time!
Jarrod, is there anyway to unlock undervolting on the Legion 7i as well? It seems after a recent bios update I can no longer undervolt my i7 10750h :(
Kalcifier me too but with the hp omen

For the people having trouble not applying the settings in the bios before you can save you need to press again the combination and then you can save. Even after Xtu didn’t work but I managed to get it work with throttle stop for me I have achieved around -110 with no errors
Hey Jerrod, I enabled XTU interface from the advanced bios (and saved and exited obviously) but its locked in the XTU software. Am I missing something?
Still there?

Hey Jarrod, I need a laptop for school and gaming. The battery life can’t be too short, but I don’t need 10+ hours either. I’m looking for a price between $1000 - $1500. I was thinking of buying the Asus G15 or A15. I don’t want to give people virgin vibes with the laptop so it can’t be looking flashy. I don’t need it right now I can wait a month or two if needed. What do you think is a suitable laptop for me?
Guillaume Briand its kinda sold out everywhere I can buy it so I have to wait anyway. Plus it has some thermal issues so idk.
@@GuillaumeB7 Don't take G15 lol, even after repasting it reached 104 degrees celcius while gaming
Rafael Rivero any other recommendations?
That price point has traditionally been my Y540/Helios 300 range, so based on what you said, Y540. Haven't tested G15 or A15 so can't make a recommendation there.
What's the best the msi ge66 raider or the gs66 stealth
Ge66 raider, because of its space for the cold air, so its chassis performances are better. For the rest it's only appearence. GE66 looks more aggressive and it has the lighting bar on front that is very cool
I'd grab the ge66 since it's a little bit thicker but not by much. Would have better thermals in a thicker chassis.
@@andreameccio5440 thank you verry much👌🏼👊🏼

I can't find the overclocking option in the advanced menu 😢, I have a msi alpha 15 laptop with ryzen 7 5800h rx6600
Hi man, saw some people disabling turbo boost. Does this actually help?
It will lower temps by about 20c, but at a performance / FPS loss in some games.
Derek Sanderson by how much?
Would QuickCPU be a better option for undervolting in this laptop? I feel that it might be safer as well. It will also allow you to tweak your core multiplier easily and if it fails just reboot your machine to get back to stock settings.
WHAT IS THAT?
Jared, for someone who has no idea what they’re doing - do you suggest implementing the -.1v undervolt? Any dangers there?
No, because there's no guarantee it will be stable on your hardware. If you don't mind doing some stress testing etc to see if it's stable then sure go ahead, just expect app crashes/possible blue screen/restart.
Great video! Love it Jarrod!
Thanks so much!
hey jarrod i want to ask again, ryzen 5 3550h + gtx 1650 or i5 9300h + gtx 1650 max q. both of them comes with the same price. i want to know which 1 is powerful for gaming. i hope u reply 😄
You’re a legend, love your work ❤️
Thank you so much 😀
I did undervolt it by -0,1 but it kept shutting down... mine is the 10750 version. Any advice to get it right ?
Sounds like it's not stable, go to a lower value and try again.
I have the same problem. At 0.1, it keeps blue screen. Which value did you select that was stable?

90 degrees isnt bad for a gf65. Just chill. Dont use cooler boost all the time !
