One of singers who actually never used auto tune, just pure talent and hard work
Every old video of them live is lip synched lol
stray kids? mamamoo? Rome? Bob Dylan? Tom waits? The Radiowaves? Lady Leonir? Jim White? they don't use autotune only when it's a part of the song to make an effect they make it very obvious that it's autotune. stfu
@@bholifield83That’s because there are just TV video recordings available on YT and TV broadcast in the 80s couldn’t transmit live sound easily. They toured the world several times in the 80s with live shows that are only available in audio recordings. It really isn’t hard at all. The lowest of it is within just about every male’s range, and the high E is complete falsetto. Very easy for any male singer with a semblance of ability.

Great song
it was 2005, the 80s weren’t that long ago from this so if someone was 18-23 in this video they most likely grew up with this song, even someone here being 8 years old was born in the 90s.

This was a smash hit when my son was a toddler. He's a doctor in North Carolina now. But I still remember him saying "mommy take on me" when this song came on MTV!
I don't think anyone realizes how impressive this is. It was LOUD background noise, and his ear monitors quit working. So he most likely could not hear his own voice, and STILL sang perfectly in tune. You can see him struggle to hear himself when he plugs his ear while singing to try and keep a sense of his own pitch at 3:04 and his monitors are hanging around his neck. What a legend

Those guys from the 80s had WAYY more talent than anyone from the 2000s and on. Those guys wrote songs that were the sounds of a generation.
I agree. Anytime someone argues with me that today's music is just as good and it's usually the younger generation all I tell them is why do you think all the music that plays in movies, TV commercials and at sporting events is music from the 70s and 80s. His inner ear monitors seem to stop working, he takes them out and doesn't skip a beat. Pitch perfect to the end. A true artist!
Let us not pretend he doesn't miss a beat. He did.. a lot. Which is no fault of his own, but he still crushed those notes.
he did miss 1 note but that is the most perfect decision. it could've been a disaster if he tried to do it.
@Jake Pig Dude what the fuck, he is stating an objective fact that counters the blatant fault in the original comment. He didn't sing for a lot, and didn't do the falsetto. So yes, he skipped a lot of beats. Still a fantastic performance none the less

@@Jagsit- STOP SMOKING CRACK FOOL
I read an interview about this particular performance. He was coming off an ear infection and his in ear monitor wasn’t giving him the proper mix. That’s why he kept playing with it. As a drummer that is use to having the in ear monitor if one or both goes out it can really mess you up especially if you’re using a keyboard sequencer with a click track. I’ve had a couple situations where my mix got screwed up with the guitars. If I hadn’t known the song by heart we would’ve had to stop in the middle of a song and get it sorted out. Talk about awkward. Even though “Mort” missed one high note he more than made up for it and did what was best and kept the performance going.
It's mind blowing 😮
That solo at the end could not be any better, OMG that is some good stuff! Masterclass in guitar playing!!

He didn't loose his ear pieces, he removed them as they didn't work properly. And yet he sang perfectly even without them as Morten is one of the best singers in the world :)
Olga K oh lol, it was hard to tell cause it kept switching povs, but i'm also not very observant, but yeah, he still sang perfectly ❤️
it seemed to be that he removed because it was too loud, since in the very beginning of the song, right when he starts to sing, he gave a sign to the backstage kinda making a "turn it down" move...
Wow....impressive.....
@@adaobas I thought it kind of broke because you could hear him silently testing it (with 'ba ba') during the instrumental and fiddling around with the earpiece and device attached to his waist. Love it. No theater, pyrotechnics, choreography, or antics on stage. Just go out there and belt out a great song. It's called talent.
I mean, I love a stage show. Look at Pink Floyd/David Gilmour with the circle screen and the laser shows. Watch the Pompeii version of Run Like Hell and be blown away by both the music and the light show. I don't think putting on a stage show will full theater makes you any less talented. Iron Maiden bring out the pyrotechnics, the antics, the bloody works, they even have LITERAL FLAMETHROWERS just for Flight of Icarus. Concerts aren't just about performing the music. Theatrics go hand and hand with that. Even The Who, Rolling Stones, any of the all time greats all do or have done theatrics at some point. It's part and parcel. Just watching a band performing the music with nothing else going on would be a bit boring, regardless of how good the music is.

being able to sing that falsetto 20 years on is quite something, but to belt it out after having to rip your ear monitors out is the mark of brilliance & utter professionalism by Morten.
Can you explain what exactly happened, cause I'm guessing those allow you to hear what pitch you're actually at, which is why he jammed his finger into his ear,
But why did he do that and why does he need that exactly, I figured it would be muscle memory pumping out a certain pitch
Again I know nothing can you please explain lol
Imagine the surrounding noises he is hearing from the others on that stage, along with the noises from the crowd. It can definitely affect his performance. Its like you're being drowned or suffocated by sound.

Anyone in 2024?
This song will NEVER die. This is coming from a 22 year old Gen Z-er. My favorite song.

The older the song becomes, the more I see how valuable it is.
Great way to put it 👍
This is an extremely hard song to sing live. These guys do it so perfectly.
AGREED.Especially the lead singer, hitting all those-HIGH-notes. LOVE this song.
💯
Lol . WTF are you smoking? Crack)
I'm not sure how I feel about this, it is so good. I see the people so calm and happy. The music is so great, I feel like I'm watching a dying breed of wonderful music, and it makes me happy and sad all at the same time.
Singer still has the chops!!! 20 years after the song topped the charts...impressive

I honestly think he sounds better here than he ever did during their early days. His voice matured so well its unbelievable!
I think that the dislikes are really people who only dedicate themselves to randomly dislike videos all day long.
I'll go and like it straight away! 👍👍👍💯
@GotWood? Bushcraft and more exactly
No, they are australian
GotWood? Bushcraft and more I thought they were actually pretty good. Better than most musicians now at least.
@@memesgrandlord9527 Agreed.
Known fact that Morten was having difficulties with his in-ear monitor system during this performance but he was able to make it happen. The only things that he could hear from his vantage point were drums, bass and guitar. The FOH system was way out front. The stage was huge and his band mates were spread out. Nice job!
You wouldn't know it with that perfect pitch accuracy. WOW!!
To the new generations, may this music last forever.
I was fortunate enough to see this band live in the 80s and you don't know what you missed
Tambem tive o prazer de ver ao vivo show no mineirão MG
Oh wow how lucky you were! ❤
@@donhardy4973 jealous me 👍👍👍
Missed? Lol.. Nothing!! We're watching right now
So did I, in Stockholm in 1986.
Quien más oye esta bella canción en 2024?
A-Ha una de las canciones mas bellas del mundo. Procedentes de Noruega, una de las mejores Bandas del Mundo.

Musica do meu filho ❤
I'm amazed that he still has that high note in him. Now that's music.
Yes, he still has, I mean - now, 15 years later:-)
@@luisalozhkina I just can't believe it. Time sure does fly, don't it?
@@blueridgerails7779 For us - yes, but Morten has his own relationship with time :-)
I agree, amazing that he still has that high note!!!
@IRIS. Bellísima tema..❤😂😅
