Hi Curtis, indeed you can be very proud of your land, because the best bands, the best artists and ,in fact, the best music come from England, there's no doubt about it! I discovered music for about 50 years, all genres, and music from the uk is the greatest, especially for me as a Rock and Heavy-Hardrock fan. Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Queen, Pink Floyd, The Cult, The Mission, The Stranglers and I could go on and on and on! As I said, England has the best to offer in other genres as well not just in Rock Music, that has always been the case and will always remain so. Thank u England for all the great sound! My eyes are teary! Billions of us can relate to this song, we become slaves to the money as we try to make ends meet, and before you know it death comes around. Great song by a great artist! The live performance is just as good as the radio.
If you look closely at 1:31, chris wasn't actually playinh the piano
@@amirulhaeqal2133 I definitely missed that! I was floating somewhere in space.
@@amirulhaeqal2133 he was, he's just holding some keys down with the pedals.
My eyes watered also, this song just touches sooooo deep, and I'm having an awesome day🙂
Very powerful comment we need some more of those
He will always be the best singer in the world! Love you Richard!❤
Can't believe this song is over 20 years old 😭
And still great
And I’m listening right now
Such a classic, one of the best songs I’ve ever heard and grew up to
Wait what?!! 😳😳😳 Are you serious? Apparently yes.. I am shocked
Can't belive I'm 72 love this song c
This song always brings tears to my eyes. A bittersweet symphony, life is!
Lo es como la historia de la canción
I'd be honored if some Verve & Coldplay fans would take a quick listen to my acoustic piano & vocal YT performances of BITTERSWEET SYMPHONY and VIVA LA VIDA in tribute to 2 of the most iconic bands from the 90s & 00s. Live acoustic with no autotune. Peace out and stay safe.
Verdade
Não tem como não se emocionar
It was bitter until Richard Ashcroft got the rights back in 2019!?!
This is an incredible song with great lyrics. People connect with it as it expresses how the working class feel. Richard Ashcroft what a legend there's so much feeling gone into that song you can feel it. Never forgotten his roots he knows how the common man feels Respect to him. 👌
Your correct with work class
why the girlie hairstyle this prick was a junkie
All eyes on Richard Ashcroft - who is a genius!! - But please look at the love and dedication of Chris Martin. He is a very good person.
Where has this music gone
To my Spotify playlist 😎
Lost in the history books
Seriously? There are thousands of amazing bands and musicians out today. Do some research
BunnyLovesHam crack
music will never be the same as this video right here . Real singer no auto tune real band . Not saying there’s no bands left but in today’s age bands ect don’t get the opportunity to get to the next stage because this generation is more into auto tune rubbish so bands out there now have basically no hope of getting there stuff on the radio . Because all radio stations wanna play is shit auto tune crap .
And that’s coming from me as a guitarist . It’s sad and hopefully people wake up to real music
His song is still one of the best I've ever heard. It touches you and never loses a thing. What happened to Richard Ashcroft and the Verve was awful. Good on Chris Martin for this recognition. Hoping the Verve have have all found the peace and profit they richly deserve.
We need the documental of that events, justice for Sir Ashcroft and The Verve @Netflix
What happened?
@@thomasschott7887 The Rolling Stones sued The Verve for the rights to Bittersweet Symphony (some chords). It was a long lawsuit and I assume that it was costly and exhausting, David against Goliath and without a patron ... The Verve survived a long time, I say.
I had just recorded the Rolling Stones Flashpoint live album 10 years prior when they flat out destroyed the blossoming career of my new favorite, the Verve. I was actively hostile to my childhood heroes. Still fresh from the excitement of making their live record, I couldn’t stand to hear them anymore.
There was no lawsuit. Verve/Ashcroft voluntarily gave up song writting credits, rather than fight the Jagger/Richards goliath. That wrong was recently righted with credit reverting back to Ashcroft. The ? Is, what about all the residual $$$ from the lazt 25+ years.
If this doesn't give you goosebumps then nothing will
The first notes of the intro do that!
Peso pluma is better !

The collab that we don't expect but we deserve.
"Bittersweet Symphony" will forever be such an iconic song/music.
Plus, when I hear it, I always remember "Cruel Intentions".
That's where I heard this song!
Love this movie, which in turn made me love this song. Such a great, nostalgic connection between film and music
To me it will always be the "Cruel Intentions Ending Song".
@@musafawundu6718 yep I remember as a kid my sister used to always watch cruel intentions.. it was her favorite movie.. and i always thought man I like that song.. and years later I heard the full song and realized.. this might be the greatest song of all time

There’s only certain artists who are timeless and for me this song brings pure happiness & eternal memories
Coldplay and Richard Ashcroft playing during the day is insane!!
This is probably the best song ever written And he's the best singer in the world, Mr. Richard Ashcroft. Ok, here we go:
'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
Tryin' to make ends meet
You're a slave to money then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
Where all the veins meet, yeah
You know I can't change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I'm here in my mold
I am here in my mold
But I'm a million different people
From one day to the next
I can't change my mold
No, no, no, no, no
Have you ever been down?, have you ever been down?
Well I never pray
But tonight I'm on my knees, yeah
I need to hear some sounds
That recognize the pain in me, now
I let the melody shine
Let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now
But the airways are clean and there's nobody singing to me now
You know i can't change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I'm here in my mold
I am here in my mold
But I'm a million different people
From one day to the next
I can't change my mold
No, no, no, no, no
Have you ever been down?, have you ever been down?
'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
Tryin' to make ends meet
You're a slave to money then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places

No, no, no, no, no
Have you ever been down?, have you ever been down?
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
Ever been down
Have you ever been down?, Ooh
'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, yeah
'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, yeah
My life
Your life
Their lives
Come take it down the only road I've ever been down
'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, yeah

THAT's why i love CHRIS his humility and respect for every artist . love this song all my life . when i see Chris make the chors i die for happiness . COLDPLAYER FOR EVER
He's correct when he said it was the best song ever written. I'm glad he finally got the copy rights back for this amazing song.
Never knew he got them back, that’s great to hear !
Is that truth? I'm so glad if so, cause lets be honest, this song may include content from other band but this guy made magic with those existing ingredients.
well it is actually a verbatim copy but lovely....glad he made his money
@@axiapiscis8896 They basically took the violin, but the rest of the song is all Verve and Ashcroft. Shame they took forever to give royalties back. The message in the song defines everything about society so perfectly.
Stoned didn’t sue him that was Allan Klein (Dead)who owns the rights to pre 70s Stones songs!
For ColdPlay to honor this says it all!!! Bittersweet Symphony That’s Life!!!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️. This is the World i want forever! The best of Music, Talent, Friends, Family. Come back!! NOW!
I’m going to watch this over and over. I remember watching this performance when it happened. Life rolls along too fast. I played this song at birthday for a friends mum. My 8 year old daughter played keyboard. I remember it like it was yesterday. I really love this stuff. Music has evolved & life has rolled on. Thanks for sharing
So beautifully said.
Music is trash now. Even here it was starting to fade to the garbage it’s become.
@@Texasguy316 now that is sad. With bands from this concert that we’re performing in the the 60’s , I felt it was overall an honest event. But I do agree today’s music is quite shallow in comparison. Perhaps I’m showing my age 😏
what a voice. this song still brings chills.
I'm awestruck by the number of fans that showed up . Damn !
Seguro,un clásico,hermoso!!
Dios hermosa cancion..la escucho muy amenudo.
Can’t we just go back to the 90s early 2000s
One of the best live performances of all time. Didn’t think that song could get any better but they somehow managed it. The perfect collab for this track ❤❤❤❤
Lovin' the respect between musicians. Richard Ashcroft is a genius and I'm SO glad the Rolling Stones finally made good on the copyright issue. This is Richard's song - period!
Made good on pressure, with limitations... is not good enough
Wow I’ve only just discovered this version!! It is, and always will be an epic song. Still sounds great in 2022 👍🏻
Please listen to the version of David Garrett (in 2022). A thrill!

Clássico épico.
Love this song, from the first time heard it at the end of 'Cruel Intentions'. I was hooked the first time I heard 'Bittersweet Symphony' it is still so popular and I hear it on the radio all of the time.

Was lucky enough to have been there for this. Really was an amazing day.
It WAS!!!
Thats some good ass video quality for 2005
Big Boi God I thought it was a 2019 video tbh until I read the title fully lol
Believe it or not there was decent audio visual technology then. It was around the mid 00s that resolution went on the up. Doesn't seem so long ago but shit. It's almost 15 years. Time goes far too quick.
ikr
and some how some TV shows today dont have this quality XD
2005 is when hdtv started to come in joey the friends spin off was filmed in 2005/6 in hd and is referanced it a few times
It was 2005 not 1985.
Everyone clapping and paying attention instead of holding up phones ✨ miss this vibe!

This song reminds me of my adolescence, coldplay and Richard bring a really good vibe, good times, that won't come back...
Richard sounded fucking amazing. Wow he sounds good. Chris stunning on the piano and backup vocals. The band 👏 what a great great performance took me back to when I bought the album as a twelve year old kid. Stunning.
What a wonderful song. Great. Congratulations to everyone who is part of this excellent poem
Probably one of the last huge gigs where the crowd were enjoying the performance instead of trying to film it on their mobiles.
Exato
Good point!
Exatamente!! As pessoas não assistem mais aos shows, estão apenas preocupadas em fazer os melhores vídeos e fotos para postar em suas redes sociais. Uma pena.
Não sabem oque estão perdendo....
the best song ever written
Class act Ashcroft! Most under rated artist of the generation
Mario arciello forza napoli sempre
😉💎
I was there for this at 20 years old . The line up that day was incredible
So proud to be from the same town as the legend, Richard ashcroft. This is immense 👏
What town?
Still my all time favorite and I'm almost 78. In San Diego, CA.
Makes me proud to be British, we have some truly phenomenal music!
Yes I love 🇬🇧

20 years later...nothing has changed, for the better.
Still the greatest song of all time.
Amazing tune, what a performance. Will stand the test of time as a classic
I'm glad they end up getting all their royalties for this monster of a song.
I'm glad The Rolling Stones finally decided to be decent human beings rather than gready one. Even though it took them long enough and they didn't need the money. It was a nasty thing to do to someones career.
@@nadineavis4625 no it wasn't the rolling stones fault that they didn't get there money for the song it was allen klein their former manager that decided that. Allen klein owned them 48 million and after he passed away a couple of years ago members of the rolling stones gave them their money.
Imagine two people (Man or Woman) walk up to the ocean. They both describe what they see. In different ways. And only days apart. This is what I feel happened. Richard earned this.
@@eastsideangie8170 just so hard to get one's head around... that corrupt music producers exist/ed and to this extent... it's money yes, and I love the stuff when I haven't got it, especially since my daughter. But I also have a sum coming to me from an inheritance and oh God, if I could, the bloody great joy I'd have giving it away to some people I've known, including/especially her good dad who I haven't been with for so long.
@@eastsideangie8170 don't blame the Mr Klein for making money wherever he could regardless of morals, it's a part of his culture.

this song- and this performance of this song in particular- continues to send shivers down my spine the very same way it did when this first aired almost 15 years ago now. wow, time flies. i had the live 8 dvd and played it at least a couple times a week back then. one of the very best lineups in history. the energy was palpable- i'd have given anything to be there, or at any of the other venues that day... but london was definitely at the apex.
This song was a huge shift in pop music. Very much a classic.
hard to believe this was 5 days before 7/7
Chris and Richard were like school pals.
Chris the best in the class, always clean and always on time.
Richard was seldom in the class and, when he was, stole Chris' snacks
