Im thinking of running this heater for a 10x14 bunkie house with 2x4 insulated walls. With this video it should handle the cold no problem. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for the great video guys! I just bought one but haven’t received it yet. I am getting the 8kw you put in a harder case that you guys mentioned. Again great no nonsense video!
I have had one for a few years that I use for moose hunting. Mine has a slightly different looking controller on it but the display looks the same. I am able to choose a few different heat modes, you can set the fan speed, you can set the hertz and you set the thermostat to a desired temp and it ramps up and down like a normal furnace. So you set your temp and it holds it all night, might keep you guys from overheating.
That sounds much better. Next heater purchase we’ll have to look for those options. We still use wood for moose hunting but bringing the heater might be our next move! Thanks for the ideas
Buy a gelmbring/ refleks diesel heater. No battery needed, but it is like 2-3 K. I use one when I go fishing in the winter in my (Tuollaark) it’s like a tent but 3 times warmer
@@chasenashleyoutdoors7632 Thank you for the tip. That's what I do but I still get so much water build up. I guess I gotta mess around until I get it right.
How many hours or days/nights camping are you getting off the 200AH battery just wondering if one would be good or id have to buy 2, I need something that’s good enough for spending 3 nights and 4 days on the ice or 4 nights and 5 days on the ice total without having to bring a generator as well to charge it, I’m trying to switch from propane to diesel heat as well but I want it to be practical and not have to haul a million things out
@@chasenashleyoutdoors7632 I’ll be able to tell you Thursday as I just ordered mine haha. I’m going to be using it in a 10x12 wall tent, but our lows here only get into the low 30’s upper 20*f, so it’s not quit as cold as where y’all are lol
That sure was an investment in the battery! Nice choice! I would have gone for two 100AH instead. Kerosene is a great idea but it costs a fortune here in Quebec - $4/L. The unit I bought has its tank on the side of the heater so it has a wider base, and less likely to tip over under temporary setups.
Yes. It did seem to run colder outside. When we do the upgrade we’ll be able to duct it inside and keep it outside but this model doesn’t have that option.
@@chasenashleyoutdoors7632 hi will you upgrade that exact unit to add the intake air duct?, or is there another model that has a intake air duct that can go inside the tent from the outside to circulate the warm air?
I just purchase a diesel heater and I also have the otter ice fishing tent how high off the floor does it need to be???? We’re going camping Friday I would go in the backyard and set it up but the backyard is full of the dogs garden gnomes lol
why not put the heater outside the tent as far away as the inlet alows then you wount have all that noise, also that a vent hole on top of the cap you might get low fuel pressure as the day goes on. and when i use mine i let it run almost out and i dont refill untill i get to my destination then when im all set up with the heater outside and the hot air hose coming into the tent thats when i fill her up
Hmmmm....sure seems like alot of messing around....I been using big buddy heater for years on a 5lb tank that takes 3.50 to fill and the heater was 100 bucks and never had problems or had any carbon monoxide problems...30 below in a clam 2 man and I'm toasty. That thing is super noisy in my opinion!
Dry heat is the biggest benefit. If you are camping on the ice it’s worthwhile. I hate the moisture from running the buddy all night. Keep a CO monitor low in the tent fisherman die from CO poisoning every ice season!
This is a very solid every day average user review and it makes me want to ditch propane. Very much enjoy the videos Keep up the good work.
Well thank you. Very much appreciated

That’s awesome! I’m sure it will be worth the wait. We like our so far
Great video. After hearing how loud it is I think I’ve changed my mind. I was going to build this inside a Coleman cooler.
It honestly sounds worst in the video than in person.

So damn informative dear! Would love to see how warm your heater gets 😂
I would love that too. ❤️

@1822erik nice! Thanks a bunch :)
Thanks for the vid. How do you guys manage the ice from melting. It looks like it's pretty dry in there.
The interlocking mats help

Hmmmm. Interesting. We also keep the hose off the ground and blowing up but I’m sure you do that too.
@@chasenashleyoutdoors7632 Actually, I did notice that it helped when I elevated it. Thanks again for the tip and please, please keep the vids coming!
@johnkim8875 good. I appreciate that :)
Sorry when you say Zero degrees are you Canada lol? Or do you use Fahrenheit?
Canadian so it’s probably Celsius :)

Over a week using it in the garage on all pump settings
Only thing I’d do different is put the unit outside and just run the vent hose inside. It’ll be a lot more quiet
We have done that as well. Do you find it runs slight cooler outside?

Yes, the batteries definitely are an investment! At the time they were the best deal.
That’s great! Enjoy the warmth!
Hi Ashley, Why do you have the unit inside the tent? Did you find it wasn't giving off adequate heat when outside?
Yes. It did seem to run colder outside. When we do the upgrade we’ll be able to duct it inside and keep it outside but this model doesn’t have that option.

One trip we did but it didn’t run as hot. The noise is okay. No issues sleeping
Kerosene has a lower BTU than diesel fuel. Diesel fuel helps lubricate the pump, kerosene doesn’t.
Good to know! ;)
Thats a 20 AH battery or 200?
200 but I definitely said 20…. I did correct it with an insert but you must of missed it :)
@@chasenashleyoutdoors7632 Yes I heard you say 20 but I was looking at 200. Jesus thats a big battery.
@MrPunchfree4l ha ha that’s for sure. Lol
The shut down burns remaining fuel and carbon off
Perfect 👍
