Premium! That clicking didn’t sound to loud to me once it was running but maybe it was the video like you said. If you could hear it all day fishing it might get a little annoying. I watched this video a week ago but for some reason I didn’t comment lol. Thanks this gives me some good ideas of upgrades and new toys to think about for ice fishing 🤙😎
They make protective and insulating housings that conform to those pumps, they make a big difference for like 12 bucks, add some Rockwood and your silent.
Want more noise reduction?? For $2 get some proper fuel line and replace the restricting white line from the pump to the burner quieted mine by about a 1/3
Very cool, thanks. That is actually the "better" fuel line from Amazon compared to the soft green crap that it came with. But I will definitely look into some better alternatives. I assume you mean the ticker black rubber line? Thanks
@@addikotter4351 on the pre-built kits the exhaust comes out the bottom. I have mine wrapped in a fireproof material and routed through the propane hose port on my insulated ice hut. I suppose you could go up to the top but that would be a pretty lengthy run
The tank is above the burner…Do we even need a fuel pump? Gravity should feed the burner…or am I wrong and is there some sort of injector that needs pressure in there?
@ so you say that’s how the unit regulates the output? I don’t have one to look at it but it make sense…I’m just trying to figure out if it’s worth buying…Lots of people complain about the clicking noise so I was wondering why it’s been engineered that way…I guess modulating the fuel pump is cheaper and simpler than modulating the firing sequence of an injector…Thanks for your comment 👍
@gangiolini6201 thanks for the question. I really enjoy mine. The pump clicks because it sends fuel in pulses. My friend has a silent pump that doesn't click at all. The positives outweighs the negatives for sure. Outside placement or even a simple blanket over the unit makes it pretty much silent for the user as long as you are careful
That sucks. I did hear that kerosene doesn't have the lubrication qualities of diesel which might be damaging the pump but not sure why it would cause that error
EASIEST WAY TO QUIET THE PUMP,,,,, hang the damn thing from a string and u will get a tiny click- when attached to something the whole thing becomes an amplifier--- instead of a string a rubber band or something that wont conduct the sound would be even better a string is good- and its cheap
Have you had the white smoke yet? What a mess it makes, diesel everywhere. Then all the error codes. Then the search of wisdom and knowledge to fix it. Chinese diesel heaters have crept into my nightmares...
The only time mine smokes is when the battery is almost dead. These are designed to get the current needed for the glow plug, on initial start-up, from a vehicles electric system. If you try to start with a small, or undercharged, battery it will blow smoke like h**l.
@kelleysimonds5945 that's really great information actually. I've been tempted to see how small of a drill battery or something I could use but there's no real point as I have a larger lithium anyway. But great to know that's one cause of smoke
It’s caused by cavitation(air pockets) buildup in the pump.
Just hit it a couple times, while it’s running, with a hard device and it should go quiet.
Good tip. I'll definitely give that a try
I just installed one of these yesterday only difference is I bought mine on AliExpress for less than $10 so far so good

Thanks brother. It's always fun to have a fishing project. I've toyed with putting it outside for space but not 100% sold yet

Great tip. I hadn't seen those but that makes total sense. I'll keep an eye out.
Thank you ❤
You're welcome! I hope it was helpful.

That's a good point but the unit has 10 levels of power so without a pump to regulate that amount you would just be stuck with on off wouldn't you?

You activate the priming when the unit is OFF?
Yes, exactly. On that model anyway, hold "down" for 3 seconds.
I used one and it won't work right after 7 gallons of kerosene went through it, kept getting a code for no fuel in tank

Oh no, nothing like that yet. That doesn't sound very fun.
Base gasket on the fire bowl. I take care of these thing in rigs, and 9 times out of 10 it's that. Otherwise, change fuel nozzle.
