OAKLAND, Calif. -- Everybody said goodbye to Oakland Athletics baseball in their own way Thursday afternoon.
After 57 seasons at the Coliseum -- and decades of indecision and vitriol swirling around the team's future -- the A's played their final game in Oakland in front of a massive crowd on a bright and gorgeous Bay Area afternoon.
The crowd was raucous, the mood festive and the fans engaged from the first pitch. The afternoon started early. The parking lot, scheduled to open at 8 a.m. -- more than 4½ hours before first pitch -- instead opened at 7 a.m. after the line of cars waiting to get into the stadium backed up traffic on I-880.

The fans gathered in the lots to cook breakfast, drink beer and alternate chants of "Sell The Team" and "Let's Go Oakland." A man who has made a side hustle of impersonating A's president Dave Kaval roamed the parking lot in a suit and tie, never breaking character. Fans, if they chose, could have purchased a margarita or psychedelic mushrooms from the small-business popups on the pedestrian bridge connecting BART to the Coliseum.
"People who have never been here will look at this scene and be surprised," said longtime A's fan Jorge Leon, the president of the Oakland 68s, a community-based fan group. "To those of us who have been coming here since we were kids, this is just what it's always been before everybody got tired of being lied to."

I'm upset at the Giants for not taking a stance and voting no on relocation after releasing a statement expressing regret that the team was leaving which was very hypocritical. The worst part was taking the city of Oakland's leverage in negotiations away and putting them at a disadvantage to keep them for at least 3-4 more years by arranging for the A's and Fisher to play in Sac at Sutter Health Park for FREE. And throw in Manfred's "one time only" free relocation voucher & you get a day like yesterday 💔

I believe and looked it up to make sure the giants and bob Melvin both released statements saying they were disappointed in the A’s leaving and the situation..many point to the giants claiming territorial rights while the A’s were trying tho move ..and that’s true although I think any team may have done that..and the Fremont deal was dead before it even started from what I’ve read..there’s really only two people to blame the MLB itself and fisher..and of course the other owners and the owners of the kings

Don't blame the Giants, blame former commissioner Dud, oops, Mud, oops, Fudd, oops, Crud,,oops, Bud Selig. Commissioner Crud forced in Fisher as the owner because Fisher's junior partner Lew Wolff was commissioner Crud's buddy. The Giants were following commissioner Crud's orders

I guess having this whole region for just one team was too big of a piece slice for them to turn down, honor or not. Walter Haas was a true gentleman owner who put principles and fans ahead of the bottom line and did the Giants a solid when they needed it. One of the best owners ever!

I respectfully say this and I put no blame on the fan, but. In the 2000s and 2010s nobody was there unless they were competitive which I find bs.
You can say the coliseum was trash players weren’t sticking around and whatever but still what’s with the wave of fans that show up when they’re good and now when they’re leaving.
Just look at candlestick park even when the Niners were trash and it was still packed.
So no I don’t blame the fans absolutely not. But I can’t say I feel sympathy for everyone that shouts for green and gold.

    Hey Brodie.
I actually found your channel from some NHL story before even hearing about your Oakland/A's ties. I stayed because of how insightful, informative, and down to earth the whole presentation of this channel was, along with looking super professional which in this case is the true icing on the cake instead of needing to be the main draw. I've been hooked on your content since.
It was REALLY cool to see you start uploading videos from the beginning of your A's coverage. That was the PRIME time for me as a baseball fan as a kid. Those videos really do mean a lot to me as well and bring me right back to that era of MLB.
    One
Then to see your ties to the actual broadcast of these teams just made it even cooler. You didn't need to flaunt any of that, it was just something else cool that you did. It hurt to hear that you were so deeply connected to this whole experience. Thank you for being so open and candid through the whole experience, and really allowing us to share a human moment together as baseball fans, and Oakland fans. It hurts me to see those kids who will never be able to go to another Oakland Athletics game again. It hurts to see those uniquely diehard fans lose something that's more than just a team. It's a reason to hope, a reason to smile, a reason to laugh, and yes-a reason to cry.
Thank you for being able to carry all sides of this experience at once and be able to share the completely warranted frustration, with the love and appreciation for so many people. This is more than just the A's, and more than just Oakland. This was a truly wonderful moment for all of us to be able to get a sense of connection to what it means to be human and a community of people who all want the same thing.
Baseball means so much to so many people, me absolutely included. This really, really sucks for Oakland fans. There's no right way to go from here, but I hope that those fans are still able to enjoy the game that I love so much. I don't know who they should "root" for, when being forced to root for a team and an owner that snatched so much from you, but I hope there's still able to be those moments of happiness and bonding between fans, friends, and even random baseball nerds on youtube.
You're a good dude Brodie, and truly one hell of a media presence. Being able to feel all of that emotion and be able to properly share it like you did here is something that's just flat out not possible for a lot of people. You and Bip did great.
I really hope you're able to do whatever you want in this media sphere. I do LOVE this channel for the wide variety of topics covered in a really good and in depth manner, but I also wish you luck on any TV-based venture you may pursue. I know you'll kick ass at that too.

Amen. Especially Oakland. So many amazing players came from the Oakland community, and the A's did virtually nothing for the area during their time there. All they care about is getting the shiny new stadium for their team. Maybe if they had built some community goodwill, they would have had less resistance in their efforts.

I'll always be enamored by the success of the Oakland A's. I've suffered through my whole life being a Mariners fan wanting to see just a small slice of success the A's achieved.
They achieved real success through know how and grit; not just laying money down. Despite not spending, this year's team was still quite fun and talented. What a blessing to have a great fanbase to compliment the team.
I hope you get your team back Oakland.❤

It is sad they could not make it work in Oakland but neither the owner or city have much chance with the current economic model in MLB. The labor agreement make it too hard for smaller market teams to compete on a regular basis. NY Local TV Deal North of 100 million per year. A's Less then 50 million. Enough said. Until they share all the TV money equally among all the teams MLB is not going to be competitive for most small market teams. NFL shares all its money equally why a GB can be competitive. With that said Fisher could have built something on his own darn dime if he really wanted to stay.
