    I was attempting a back squat PR this morning, but while I was warming up I felt pain in my left leg. I REALLY wanted to hit that PR, but I decided to skip squats altogether.
    “Why didn’t you squat at a lower weight?”, you may ask. Well, as I said, I felt that pain while warming up with weights that are basically very light to me at this point. So yeah, I couldn’t agree more. Thank you for being a voice of reason, Noel

    • @Paintplayer1
      @Paintplayer1 2 роки тому +52

      Absolutely. I have hurt myself ego lifting more than once. In my old age (29) and facing some limitations that arose from my first career, I have started to accept that slow progress or even plateaus are better than injury. So sometimes if I'm not feeling right, I'm squatting 135 as a 200lb man, and that's ok.

    • @myrongaines6022
      @myrongaines6022 2 роки тому +9

      Yeah when something doesn't feel right during the warm ups you know it's time to cut back. If something feels a little funky but goes away as I loosen up I'll usually just try to keep an eye on it as the weight gets heavier, but if I'm getting a jab in my hip squatting 135 I'm stopping there.

    • @blusky3591
      @blusky3591 2 роки тому +13

      your comment and Noel's video made me realise my mistake. I felt some pain in my hip flexor while warming up but I still went for some heavy squats and later I realised I've strained it. Now I'm out of squatting for approx. 3 weeks until they heal. It feels so damn sad when you can't hit PRs but sadder when you can't even workout.

    • @sinner2133
      @sinner2133 2 роки тому +4

      @@blusky3591 everyone makes mistakes, and sometimes ego (and ego lifting) is too attractive to pass up. And I would know, I ego lifted for weeks after a heartbreak. I just wanted to turn sadness into power, and I just so happened to get lucky enough to not get injured (also, the deadlift PRs are a bonus).
      However, I’ve matured now. If I know I can hit a PR, I will. But if I can’t? I’d much rather postpone it rather than get injured and not be able to lift or move for weeks, if not worse

Your simplistic approach, humble tones, and genuine attitude is a contrast to your frame however, this makes your message even more powerful. Please keep this up and I pray for nothing but success in your future.

Knowing your limits and being humble is a great thing to spread across the community. I will always support you and like your videos brother.
