I particularly enjoy those aquascapes of yours where you deliberately leave room for visible caves and crevices for the fish to swim in and out of instead of over-planting and obscuring those gaps.
Australis is just Latin for southern. Australia is so named because it's in the Southern hemisphere, so that species you mentioned just has to be south of something to be named Australis, instead of having to be in Australia. Could be the southernmost member of its Genus, could be that it is found across (most of) the Southern hemisphere, etc etc.
I love Mat having more camera time and talking more. This dynamic is dope. Mat is very informative asf. NewYork in the building by way of the Bronx. U should really go fish shopping in Florida.
Matt's reaction to MD's suggestion @30:09 is essentially me when my boss asks me to do something thats easy to start but a pain to keep up, "you deal with the aftermath"
I notice awkward phrase between MD and Matt in old videos. now they are best buds. loving the energy between the two and Matt becoming more comfortable in front of cameras.
Synodontis multipunctatus, also known as the cuckoo catfish. breed by eating the cichlid eggs and replacing them with theirs. they only do it with haps or peacock sized cichlids. as well as zebra cichlids
Mulies and lucis are bigger than petricolas! Lucis look very similar! I have them in my tank and they are cheeky catfish haha but so fun to watch them swim upside down! Granulosis are amazing too! I had 2 but are with my friend in a bigger tank as a bigger group now as they are more active like that
guys if you are going up to sanders it might be worth a couple of miles to cheddar garden centre(maidenhead aquatics)...my mate Dan runs it...its only small but his attention to detail is fantastic...
MD I saw in one of your videos you'd not seen a male bristle nose. I got 2 bristle nose a few months ago from Martin at Maidenhead Aquatics Taunton now have a female and male ❤. Really enjoy your videos with Matt. I was hoping to send you a photo but not able to on here.
Size in relation to dominance among fish species is so fascinating to me. I'll use my community tank as an example. I have two female betta, 10 chili rasbora, 6 ember tetras, 6 celestial pearl danios, and 2 orange zebra otocinclus. The otocinclus are neither at the top or the bottom, they go with the flow and nobody interacts them. The chili rasboras, despite being individually small, are the largest school and they run the show. The males guard the central cave, and only allow two specific ember tetras, both the otocinclus, and one of the betta to enter that cave. It's off limits to anyone else - the males and females combined will chase unwanted visitors from their cave. They also occupy the lower portion of the back of the tank. I think the size of the school plays a major role in the territorial behavior of the rasboras, but I also think it's personality. They have all been super confident from day one, to the point where nothing scares them. Once, the larger of the female betta gave one of the female rasboras a "what are you?" peck on the side, did zero harm but you'd expect a tiny fish like that to flinch or retreat, but she basically ignored it. Funniest thing i've ever seen.
I look forward to your videos each week! Great job that you guys do. I learned a really funny trick by accident........If you hold down the "spacer bar" on your keyboard as you watch the videos, it speeds them up! Watch especially the part where Matt is putting the Malawi cichlids in the bare-bottom tank. Really funny!
Have you tried Chain Loach yet? They are very playful and fun to watch when they are settled and it would be great to see what you would do for a Malaysian aquascape!
what happens if you move those long lights closer to the front of the tank? I would expect that it would illuminate the side of the fish you can see better and maybe even reduce algae on the front glass. I am not able to test this theory out as I still don't have an aquarium (I had one as a teenager and I watch this channel with the hope that one day I can have an aquarium again!)
I am so glad you guys are now working together, you just work so will together and are so entertaining with great ideas and information! I always look forward to seeing you guys next video’s 👌🏻 keep up the good work!!!
Totally addicted to your channel! I keep rewatching your old videos while waiting for new uploads..and it feels like Christmas morning each time I see a new one is up ;D Loving you guys, you just make my day..more please!!
great list of fish! I love hearing Killifish awareness, especially as an exotic killifish breeder based in the South-eastern US. Thank you for the info I had no idea no Killifish were native to Australia. ~Cheers!
The Malawi Tank is gorgeous! It would be nice to see how you would set up a Yellow Chromide Chichlid Tank replicating a small rock-pool. I remember keeping such Chichlids many years ago.
You guys have probably already seen them, but i just discovered the Red Neon Blue Eye Rainbow (Pseudomugil luminatus) and Rick's Celestial Pearl Danio (Celestichthys margaritatus) and they are gorgeous little fish with bright colors! Also, do they have rainbow sharks in the UK? You could totally put them in one of your big tanks.
Fish Recommendation you guys might like. Blue-eyes or pseudomugil are a genus of nano fish from Australia and Papua New Guinea. Small enough to put with dwarf shrimp with much of the colour of the larger rainbow fish. I think you'll really enjoy them as they are something different. I don't see many people outside of Australia talking about. A seriously underrated type of fish. I've got a tank of spotted blue eyes and am planning on getting some forktailed blue eyes or red neon blue eyes in the tank that I'm in the middle of setting up. We'll see what I can get my hands on when my tank is finished cycling and ready for fish.
@@kiku-goldenflower7731 I haven't fully researched types and suitability yet, though they seem to cope with a wide temperature range (10-28C). Will depend a bit on cost and availability.
I have Paska's Blue-eyes with Amapeansis Tetra and older Blue green Neon Tetras, all schooling together in a 160l tank (basically some 35 tiny fish plus a group of Corydoras Nanus). Blue-eyes are cool. Their behavior sets them apart from tetras, but complement them nicely and stay closer to the top.
To be fair: I don’t think the temporary rocks for the petricola are enough… I have them in my tank and the can get really stressed once the don’t have enough hidingspace😅
This is so exciting! Those angels are beautiful.🤩 Your plans to do salt water sent me into a rabbit hole. Now I am wondering whether you are going to be sharing your planning and decision making around the salt water scapes? One of the U-tubers suggested that one set out a plan for the tank so one does not get distracted by some bright shiny (destructive) inhabitants. My overwhelmed mind thinks that is a valuable suggestion.
That hoodie is really cool and your content is so cool you making owing fish so cool and the aqua scapes you make are awesome thank you so much I’m from New Bedford Massachusetts

My wife and I will be watching this later whilst having our evening meal.
Big Screen TV.
the audio was slightly out on this video

I am loving all the extra Fish Shop Matt we are getting in our lives! This channel keeps getting better and better. ❤

Lots of new scapes to do for all these new fish!
I can't wait!!!!🤪🫠😁😊
How are you feeling with your desk taken over by a fish tank 😂
We need The Fish Files in the studio now!
oh my goodness! Matt's face at around 2:55! the happy is real!
You know it! 😂
Ha! Love the angel fish with the eyebrow - Looked like it was saying “what just happened” when you put him in!😅
Matt's reaction to MD's suggestion @30:09 is essentially me when my boss asks me to do something thats easy to start but a pain to keep up, "you deal with the aftermath"
😂😂😂 so true!
Fish unboxing is the best! I can't wait to see everyone colored up.
Loved seeing the synos. Mine is so sweet, and has been with us for over 25 years. Gentle giant.
I’d recheck your synodontis! The insert picture was certainly not a multip. And it looked as if you had them reversed in the bags.
Love the long videos, especially with MD & Matt! Keep up the good work guys!
I notice awkward phrase between MD and Matt in old videos. now they are best buds. loving the energy between the two and Matt becoming more comfortable in front of cameras.
What an exciting day that must have been. That's a proper stocking.
Love the dorsal fin markings.... sweet I had to call my one Pumpkin.
Joy joy joy. I'm right on time ! 😊🔥🔥🔥👑

Hi everyone!
guys if you are going up to sanders it might be worth a couple of miles to cheddar garden centre(maidenhead aquatics)...my mate Dan runs it...its only small but his attention to detail is fantastic...
The new fish are beautiful 👍🏻 I'm curious about the new scapes 😀
Loved this long style video boys, it was like we're hanging out with you! Really enjoyed the unboxing and tank updates, well done 👏

I was hoping to send you a photo but not able to on here.
I would love you to get some glass bottom guppies. Really interesting fish because you can see the babies in their bodies because they are see through

So there are killi’s in the Arctic. Wow!
35:00 I just got a pair of these for my albino endler guppy to breed with! Wish me luck!
Zoanthids my favourite coral. Easy colourful and cheap.
I look forward to your videos each week! Great job that you guys do.

Love seeing Matt as part of the MD crew, keep up the good work lads.
the flip over rubber band method you just pull the top and it comes loose. so actually easier ;)
Getting new fish is so fun.
Have you tried Chain Loach yet? They are very playful and fun to watch when they are settled and it would be great to see what you would do for a Malaysian aquascape!
it will take about 3 days for the catfish eggs to hatch. and you’ll know if they’re holding eggs. it’ll look like they’ve got a case of the mumps
Wow!! Matt!!! You picked some really gorgeous fish!!! I'm excited to see what yall come up with next!!!!😃😊😁😃😊😁😃
We call those beautiful Angels Koi angels in America.... orange, bjack and pearl
My daffodil cichlids breed like lab mice. I had at least 3 generations going.
US over here. Love watching y’all’s videos! Great attitude and great information!

I oved it when he says ive given matt a budget he can get what he likes lol
Just a quick general question …… you said the battery was done, what exactly do you do with your old battery’s ??? Can you maybe do a video on it
I loved the Angel fish. It was fun seeing all the different species of fish. 😊 Gina

If u have a big display tank, with awsome fish go for frontosa tank.💙
great list of fish! I love hearing Killifish awareness, especially as an exotic killifish breeder based in the South-eastern US. Thank you for the info I had no idea no Killifish were native to Australia. ~Cheers!
(...)bit chilly- ish for Killifish
for the new t-shirts 10:08

Can’t wait to do my first scape, thanks Matt for the inspiration and introduction to this great hobby 👍
Surely there are some islands in the middle of idk, the pacific, where there are no killy fish
Great unboxing md and fishshop matt some great fish there
That one angel fish looked angry, think it's his pattern by the eye!!!
Your "Hey Google" comment activated mine. Lol. Never a dull day at the studio. Love the new fish.
the tank at 21:21 only has an internal at the bottom? then what does the surface agitation for oxygen?
All the new fish are so exciting! I can’t wait to see all the new scapes. Thanks for the great video!
what about setting up a wild discus tank again in the studio
I'm sorry but google is wrong. There are killifish in Australia, Keeping Fish SImple went out and caught some in the wild.
I love the Killie Fish!
Hey can you please explain why you don’t do quarantine? Just because you know and trust your supplier. Or do you have preventive measures?
yes, almost done! I've been stretching it out all day lmao! butttt, the angel fish with the white eye, also has an eyebrow!😊

I am wanting to get some for an outdoor pond as they eat mosquito lavae and are tadpole friendly.
@mumsageek1883 Cool, you live somewhere warm I take it. Which blue eyes specifically are you thinking of getting?
@@kiku-goldenflower7731 I haven't fully researched types and suitability yet, though they seem to cope with a wide temperature range (10-28C). Will depend a bit on cost and availability.

@PaulZyCZ Awesome, they are really pretty.
Love all the fish selection…👍🏽☺️
Question…do the Killies require a lid? I have always heard the are prone to jumping…
So happy to see you get Synodontis catfish.
I'd love to know more about those kilifish!
Thanks Guys! I obviously need a bigger fish room! 🙂
Those Syno’s that you pictured and labelled are Eupterus, not Multipunctatus. Also known as Featherfin Syno’s.
Assistant turned off my tv, thanks for that 😂
Are you able to just plop a bag of bio media in a tank like that is it still effective?
Please do a shell dweller tank!
Absolutely loved this!!
To be fair: I don’t think the temporary rocks for the petricola are enough… I have them in my tank and the can get really stressed once the don’t have enough hidingspace😅

Sunkist Shrimps! Sunkist orange juice thinink your thinking off.
Do you always order via Maidenhead aquatics and can regular people do the same or is it like a favour to you?
"What is this?" 😂 Matt is spot on!
There's killifish in Australia, in my tank..
I find it so strange we have Killifish in NZ but not across the ditch on Oz!
Thank god your getting proper catfish 👌👌👌
Great video guys, excited to see how all the holding tanks turn out after they are scaped!
Absolutely love it brilliant video guys…👍🏻
Yup. You set off my Google.... Keep up the great work, gentlemen! Always love watching your videos!!
Hope you will make a scape for south american cichlids to :)
Do the shrimp shed like crabs?
Yes
