It becomes easier to sell the fish when you dont have room for all the babies as they grow but there is always room for plants, i have plants in bowls of water that started as trimming i was going to propagate and sell but…ykno
The most real thing I’ve seen today out of my 5 years with guppies I only sold like 2 pairs of guppies but have sold some cherry shrimp that’s it lol 😂
Totally relatable ❤ Also, I would be worried that my little fish/shrimps might end up in tanks of people who do not take good care of them and do not give them the same attention that I am giving them 😣
yah i just keep getting more tanks !! lol ... i told myself i cant spend more money until i try a swap and action of what i have done over the past 2 yrs ...

Nick , I have watched and listened to dean for several years, and I've been watching you for quite a while too. since you looked like a kid! but I'd like to say I value your opinion and advice on breeding fish every bit as much as I do Deans ! for a young man you are extremely knowledgeable and are very successful in the fish business .
@@shadeaquaticbreeder2914I was trying to breed barbs but it ended up that they were stressed up in the new tank w and nothing happened. How do you do this?
@beatatarczon1402 I like to do breeding baskets for egg scatterers. I just keep adults in the basket with some plant like hornwort/moss. I just keep the basket in the tank and let the fry raise up in the tank. I use plastic mesh rectangles from the craft section and I've just cut the bottom out of a tote and silicones it to the bottom and recently I've taken them and tied the edges together with fishing line to make a box so I can just pull the parents and drop them in another tank to keep them separated by size/age.
@@shadeaquaticbreeder2914 I was trying with the crate on the bottom but it didn't work so maybe I will do another attempt. How long did you keep them in the spawning tank because 2 days was not enough for mine?
Loved this video so much! Dean and the whole aquarium Co-op team gave me so much info when I first started out in the hobby and then when I first started to get more serious your videos give some of the best advice out there, and to see you 2 talking together was amazing! Thank you!
9:55 i am so encouraged by all of this. the most solid advice ever. i've heard bits of this from other people BUT. the details on the report with them and to see selling for credit as a stepping stone towards just straight up sales.... GOLD.
THAT IS THE BEST VIDEO ABOUT FISHES THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN. DEAN IS A LEGEND AND LISTENING TO HIS STORY ABOUT STARTING IN THE HOBBY IS JUST AMAZING. KEEPINGFISHSIMPLE, YOU ARE AN AMAZING PERSON. I LOVE YOUR WORK AND I WISH LOTS OF SUCCESS TO YOU. KEEP UP WITH THE GOOD WORK!!!!! THANKS
Amazing thanks for sharing. I started selling fish in the 80's Angel fish and Cory cats were the bulk of my fish room. They paid for everything. And put money in my pocket.
This was an awesome and very informative market analysis, thank you so much. I am a hobby dart frog breeder from Germany and I am really amazed how different the fish market is. I sell my froglets at 4-6 months and they go for 40-50 € per frog, depending on the species. The Oophaga pumilio froglets, being rarer and fewer, go for 80-100 €. Customers come to me, sometimes from 500 km away. I never had to sell to a reseller yet because my frogs are all gone a few weeks to a couple months after I put an ad online. I am trying to understand why these two markets are so vastly different. Maybe it is because dart frogs are protected and we are seeing a domestic market without any imports from wild caught animals or farm raised animals from the tropics here. I have also been a fish keeper since elementary school and I am trying to get back into fish breeding, maybe with some fancy Medaka.
Nick is single handedly keeping this hobby great and alive dean is the reason we have alot of fish you to are legends you should make a full backstory on how you got into the hobby.
I’m about to start fish for the first time. I’ve chosen, Guppies, Cherry Shrimp, and a mini yellow clam! I hope I can breed and sell Guppies and Cherry shrimp. I’ll definitely use the 3 P method.

Great videos with Dean, Nick! I have the same thoughts with guppies. They passively produce and if you have just 30 females that you regularly separate (or basket), you’d get fry everyday every month. Steady and reliable producers.
My self i prefer old school because you will see more then on the Internet page in the store you may see some awesome plants some secrets, and you have time to ask and get answers which is wonderful to see someone devoted in this hobby same us you are

The legend for the hobby Master dean ❤ stay blessed stay happy dean sir Q Who does the editing work 😂? Quite fun to watch the edits 😂👌 Props for that 👏🏻 🙌 👌 👍 Huge ❤from india brother 🇮🇳
As an introvert myself i could give you a tip. Just start with posting stuff of your breeding progress, people will get interested and will buy some fish. They will tell you how nice the fish are and stuff like that, if you breed good. 20 sales and you will be confident enough to walk in a store for your first deal👍
Dude I was literally just sending this to my mom and I texted her the same thing that you commented😂 I was like I could have made so much money but I never talked to anybody and I don't know anybody else who's into fish keeping as a hobby. I've recently found out (back is 2016😂) I'm autistic so perhaps that has something to do with my lack of awareness 😅 I've always had no trouble making friends, it's just when it comes to keeping them I have a bunch of stuff that I don't think they would approve of so I'm nervous. I'm into graffiti and what one might consider some other antisocial stuff😂
@@Pugetwitch i am also autistic😃 and yes i can't keep friends for long term, but i am fine with that since i got diagnosed. I just do my things what i like and live with it
I've been selling sword tails I bred since I haven't set up a propper breeding setup I just put the babies in a 50L tank so they took 5 months to get to the right size I had 2 spawns in there and it totaled to 60 fish
I've been thinking about getting into fish breeding but idk, im bad at thinking about doing stuff but never even trying it, im also very picky with my taste in stuff, i dis like the looks of most fish, i like neon tetras, i like some guppies, i haven't found a beta fish i like since my last one past 15 or so years ago, also there isn't that many fish shops around me except ones like petsmart and such
I have guppies in a 40g and they breed like crazy and a lot of my babies make it to adulthood thanks to a heavily planted tank. I noticed a lot of the fish stores in my area seem to get bad batches of guppies more often than not. I really want to get into parrot fishes and clowns so if I can use the guppies to fund those 2 projects that’d be a win.
Its my long term goal to be able to breed for profit, im in no rush i would like it to be a secondsry source if income as i get older since i have a physically demanding job, im getting to a point now where im breeding for sales not so much profit just yet, i have 4 projects i want to focus on and for two of them i have been able to breed my store bought fish a few times and get a decently sized group of healthy and pretty breeders i am just now growing out (one are corys and wont be ready for a few months) and when they are old enough start breeding them and selling the babies when they are old enough
Hope I can get advice here . In my bedroom I have a 2ftx2ft dead space . I built the stand thinking of going with a Innovative marine 25 lagoon . Can a group of corydora thrive in that size ? If so what species and how many would you recommend? Or what tank would you recommend? 2x2 is my limit so that's the restriction.
I wish i had a bigger market here in my country (Philippines) the best i can sell here is like every other 3 months. and i have to be careful not to saturate the market. also like dean i prefer to sell wholesale not retail. It just does not make sense to have people come over buy fish there and compete with local fish shops. I prefer to support them.
I am just about to move my tanks out of the garage and into a whole room just for my tanks. I currently breed pea puffers and I know exactly what set up I am soo g for them however what size tanks would you recommend if I want to breed angels and discuss and rams. I also have a number of L plecos which will go L plecos that will go in the bottom.
Quick question....for example, breeding angels...in this case there are several hundred eggs and or fry to deal with...how many , how big are the aquariums or water vessels, involved in breeding and raising the fry?
i have a question for you how do you calculate fish prices what is the method of calculating fish prices i mean do you include electricity food medicine water changes cleaning and maintenance to me its very confusing can you simplify it
Yes, I can imagine it easily. My original career track was marine biology but also deeply interested in herpetology, avian biology, botany, landscaping… basically all aspects of husbandry/maintenance of many/most “exotic” living organisms at home. I believe it’s important to find a partner with (at least) similar interests. If not you may start resenting each other, I’ve seen it happen to my brother… several times.
0:49 thats crazy to me bc I never had a potential to sell anything to anyone. I just need to move to a fish hotspot lol. Idk how youd find that info out tho, all I do know is that Ohio sucks for fish haha.

It's amazing how far KFS has come in only a few years. So smart to come to America and visit so many well known fish keepers..
