Tone is amazing in this video. Your bass sounds a little different than mine. Crazy how the subtleties matter. Yours looks like it’s Birdseye maple (like Justin) but a gloss finish vs satin/flat. Obviously a mk1 but that doesn’t matter much. You also have a rosewood fretboard. Mine is gloss flames maple with ebony fretboard hence the slightly different tone. Well played, mate!!
Thank you! Slowly starting to understand how to master audio for UA-cam so it doesn't turn your low end to mud. Yeah gloss finish and rosewood fretboard. I use Mic and DI though so that also may contribute to the tone difference.
Huge fan of your videos! As others have pointed out, your tone is absolutely incredible. I play a 2018 Stingray Special > B7K > VT Bass > GK Legacy Head > Focusrite V3 for my TOOL covers and I'm thrilled with the tone but man that Wal has something about the mids I can't replicate. Looking forward to more of your covers!
Thank you! Descending next. Yeah Wal basses have a unique tone but you have a pretty good set up yourself! You can get reasonably close with some tweaking in your DAW.
Hi Josh, Im trying to replicate the outro but Im not finding the correct mix, besides from the Whammy pedal, what else should be added? Thanks ahead for the advise!
From a sound guy, the phase is already reversed betwen MIC and DI, usually, so practically when you reverse the phase on one of them, it alligns their phase, always check betwen them, it's not always they are reversed, depends on how much time difference there is betwen the two. Anyway, awesome tone, and great playing dude.
Thanks, works perfectly as the main dirt pedal. The blend knob is perfect for people who want to use similar set up to Justin but only use one amp instead of two
@@TOOLbassplayer I would say if you are only recording via DI then use the B7K. However if you are going split signal, one amp, one DI then I would use the kinnatone. They sound very different and in my eyes the kinnatone, while truer to Justin's sound in terms of his dirty amp signal, serves one purpose. Whereas the B7K serves many in achieving a nice bright DI signal with some dirt and EQ boosts if needed (usually bass boost).
Pretty simple, I have a P/J bass into a rumble amp. I’ve played around with interfaces into my laptop but haven’t found great software for adding effects.
@@drewhanken3153 if you are just interested in playing at home/through computer and possibly recording. I would get a pre-amp pedal, that has a blend and some drive. A xlr out diesnt hurt either. A Darkglass B7K would work.

one of my favourite basses of all time. you sir, killed it, pining for an MK1 someday.
Thank you!
that tone is pristine, my man! great work, I hope you're as happy with how this turned out, as you did put in effort. :)
Thanks, yeah for sure!
Another excellent video my man, keep on enjoying that fantastic Wal.

From memory I use a dirt pedal that's always on through out the song proco rat with a tiny bit of distortion + the sansamp gt2 + the whammy

Good job.....how are you liking the Kinnatone?

Kinnatone? How is it in comparison to a B7K?
@Anthony Harrison - exactly- I’d love this answer. I’m using the B7k ultra to blend my dirty channel

This sounds awesome! Any tips on getting that tone?
Thanks, what's your current set up? I'll try and base my advice on that.

Awesome! Thank you, I’ll take a look at that.
Nice! How much did that beauty of a Wal cost?
A liver and 2 kidneys
