"Vicarious" from Tool's "10,000 Days" album (2006).
Well well well, another Tool cover... Imagine that. Everyone has been asking for a Vicarious cover, wanting to see my take on it, etc. Well, everyone, I did actually find a few things that you don't find in other tabs! For example, Justin uses delay (380Ms) for a few bars at 5:30. During the intro, Justin plays an extra 12th fret D like at 0:11. before moving to the 14th fret. At 3:54, I play a lot more notes than just the regular riff. I used an unofficial isolated bass track (it was the original song, but edited with some software that focuses on low frequencies). At 6:22 I actually forgot to move my hand to the 3rd fret area... I know, I'm a dumb guy. So yeah, here is my cover of Vicarious. Please don't ask for Intension and Lateralus! Trust me, I have tried and failed.

Which effects did you use? Thank you for the cover!
No problem! I used a bunch of effects for this one. For starters, the DigiTech bass whammy to get the sound for the intro and at other moments throughout the song. There's also delay, fuzz and overdrive/distortion for the bass solo. Also regular distortion for the normal bass tone.
Hey Leo. You pretty much nail his regular drive bass tone. By that I mean he has an “always on” drive channel , then his clean channel
It’s got a nice grindy crunch , that stays fat. Wals obviously have a bit to do with that, but your Warwick gets close. How would you characterize this overdriven tone? Low gain drive with high mids accentuated or?
No bass will ever come close to that Wal sound, I think. Honestly I don't know what it is, but that Wal sound is so specific. So yeah, no idea really.
Hey Leo, I have a question, I’m looking for budget pedals that aren’t that crappy, and what pedals do you use mainly for your tool videos? I’m trying to sound like Justin.
I think there was a website that actually listed every single pedal that Justin uses. I don't use any pedals except for the bass whammy (DigiTech) for that very specific sound during the intro of this song. I think Darkglass pedals can make any bass sound close to Justin's regular tone :)

Not right now. I thought it mostly holds up still to the original. I know there is that chorus part where I play the harmony part while Justin drops down 5 notes below that. But if there are any songs that need a remake, it's Stinkfist, Jambi, Aenema and The Grudge imo. Those covers are so old
