Lyrics:
Join in my
Join in my child
And listen, digging through
My old numb shadow
My shadow's shedding skin
I've been picking scabs again
I'm down, digging through
My old muscles looking for a clue
I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been
I've been wallowing in my own confused
And insecure delusions
For a piece to cross me over
Or a word to guide me in
I want to feel the changes coming down
I want to know what I've been hiding
In my shadow
My shadow
Change is coming through my shadow
My shadow
Shedding skin
I've been picking
My scabs again
Join in my
Join in my child
My shadow's
Closer to meaning
I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been
I've been wallowing in my own chaotic
Insecure delusions
I wanna feel the change consume me
Feel the outside turning in
I wanna feel the metamorphosis and
Cleansing I've endured in
My shadow
My shadow
Change is coming
Now is my time
Listen to my muscle memory
Contemplate what I've been clinging to
Forty six and two ahead of me
I choose to live and to
Grow, take and give and to
Move, learn and love and to
Cry, kill and die and to
Be paranoid and to
Lie, hate and fear and to
Do what it takes to move through
I choose to live and to
Lie, kill and give and to
Die, learn and love and to
Do what it takes to step through
See my shadow changing
Stretching up and over me
Soften this old armor
Hoping I can clear the way by
Stepping through my shadow
Coming out the other side
Step into the shadow
Forty six and two are just ahead of me

I'm in rehab now...nearly 6 months clean and sober...good on you mate!
My late fiance and I bonded over TOOL in high school. He was my best friend. We graduated 2001 and later became a couple. TOOL and APC fueled us. This was his favorite TOOL song. We last saw them live 2019 in A.C.. He could play the guitar lines flawlessly. I loved watching him. Sadly, he passed last month from a torn small intestine. I miss him everyday and listening to TOOL makes me feel like he's still around.
Wow, omfg you just put so much in perspective for me while I sit here wallowing in my own hurt, disappointment and shame for what I now Gknow is selfishly taken some beautiful and highly valued friends, family, and loved ones. This is the time that really counts and I'm pissing it away in regret about how shitty iwas/am towards myself and others.... the wrong still haven't been made and the hurt therefore continued and never gets resolved and healing and restoration is most tragically deferred for romancing the trauma!

Wow! That's such a cool memory :)
@@Squirrel-zq6oe That was a such a tool memory.
love this
Sounds like she is on the right path. Way to go dad !
My son's the exact same. He pays attention to all the music I play and I try and guess which he'll like and play them on purpose to see if my prediction was right. Usually is. Tool is one of those bands.
I am Mexican and I love TooL. Good music is good music, I always play TooL at work
I also a Mexican, love Tool since 1992. Seen them 6 times here in Texas. My wife saw them for the first time in 2016. Rock on !
Yo también soy mexicano y me encanta Tool e igual pongo a Tool en el jale para disfrutar de este talento
Patriot Pointer: ///We/// Are Winning 🇺🇸 Always Do The Exact Opposite Of What (((they))) Say
Mexican here. Heard them for the first time in Canada visiting friends. Tool is now a part of my playlist.
Maynard is aeternal.
Several years later, still blown away by this song, and this album, and all this band's music, no other artists like them, so original, sooo gooood
I am a 2006 Chevy Silverado and I absolutely adore Tool. It is the perfect band to blast on the speakers while speeding at 100+mph as u drive closer and closer to the end of the miserable and pathetic life that u have lived. Good music is good music. This band is awesome
As a fellow 18 wheeler truck driver I love going 150+ mph listening to tool
oh shut up... chevys won't even do 100... i know. good thing, cause also from my experience, their brake lines like to explode semi randomly.
and delphi stereos/speakers suck.
Now I know you're lying. Silverados top out at 73mph. Long live F150.
I'm a 1 billion year old piece of uranium-235 and I love TOOL. I have listened to tool for the past billion years and plan to listen for another 3.5 billion. Good music is good music period. This band is amazing.
Ok gramma:)
Fck yeah
TOOL transcendence time, making possible to listen to their songs even before the release date.
Damn Tool been around long fuckin time sick!!!❤️🔥👊
I'm a 673 year old Sultan and I love Tool, this song helped me conquer Constantinople, my Janissaries are huge fans and so am I. Good music is good music, period. The band is amazing.

August 2024 im here, although my soul is still at the gig i went too years back. Psychedelic backdrop has got me in a timewarp i cant escape from.
I'm 55 still rolling with tool one of the best rock bands ever because their sound is different !
I feel you mate 🙂
55, I'm 52 and I still go to as many gigs as possible.
And tool are here very soon and my first post Rona gig.
Last was the mighty Gojira...
F you covid..
And for the rest of you..🤘🤘🤘
53 here, this is my go to work music 😁
Poor buggers intended to spawn other unique bands. Haven't heard another like them yet. But we live in hope.
Im too.l🙏
I am a 60,000 year old microbe from Venus and my fellow microbes put me on to TOOL. GREAT RIFFS GREAT LYRICS. This band is amazing
LoL !!!
Why you makin fun of granma 🙃
i just did a runny poo
I’m a cleaner from Venus…
What, seriously???? 😮😮😮 Me too!!! I came here 50,000 years ago with my mom but we got stuck and couldn't get out of here. Have you been back to Venus lately? How's everyone doing?? I can't believe I ran into another microbe from Venus here on UA-cam listening to 46 and 2. Small universe!! I have been here wallowing in my own insecure chaotic delusions here on Earth for way too long so if you are heading to Venus, maybe I can catch a ride? I'll throw in on gas.
I'm 82 years old and I have lost my hearing but when I first saw Tool on MTV I decided to make Tool my favorite band. From what I see they are an awesome band. I like that one guys bold head, the singer. He looks cool.
I‘m you and you are me and we exist endlessly and we listening to tool together on star powered megastructure speakers banging our minds to this EPIC track ❤ love u all bros n sis 😘🙏
I am an ageless horror from beyond the veil and my fellow eldritch gods put me onto TOOLs. Tools of destruction, tools of torture, etc. Good music is good music period. This band is amazing.

2021 and this song is still badass.
Yeah mate. I believe this was a good year for 90s music with tool korn nin
Pantera and a few others. Bring back the 90s. Fuck everything past 2000
I needed to hear this so badly again after all these years. Came at exactly the right time. Remind me of who I truly am back to the power core. Get broken down and smelted into a new stronger form.
HELL YES IT IS!
Always will be, too
Still? It’s eternal. Tool doesn’t run in our limited experience of “time”
My best friend turned me onto Tool our Senior year in HS. He was one of the 1,200 KIA American's in Iraq during the Battle of Fallujah in 2008. This was the first song he played for me on the way home from school one day and i was instantly hooked. Im 41 now and still jam out to Tool damn near every day on the way to work. Just brings back great memories like im right there again. Enjoy the time you have left, especially young folks because you never know when life will come to a conclusion on you. 👍🏻
Great band and everyone I know loves them
thanks for sharing, this is a beautiful story. this is the first tool song I’ve ever heard (came across it in research unrelated to music but it came up bc of the lyrics, so this is very meaningful to me) and I’m 20. sending u best wishes :)
Just discovering Tool at 45 🤯. Feeling like I have been living under a rock until last week.
Hands down my most significant musical revelation of the past 25 years. Just brilliant!
incredible
I'm a 15 million year old mammoth who was just thawed from being preserved in permafrost. Remember hearing this way back when I hung out with my pals from La Brea. Good music never goes extinct.
😂
Cool 😎
I love this comment so much 😂😂😂
damn u old bro
And you think you've been in some bad mosh pits...
I am a candle in the darkness. I love Tool and their music keeps my flame dancing happily. I don’t know of anyone in existence that can say Tool ISNT good. Period. This band is amazing.
My husband 😢
@@caffeinelover16 🤷🏾♂Doesn’t matter. As long as you enjoy their music is what counts.👍🏾
Keeps the fight in ya
I'm a carpenter and I love tools. Hammers, Screwdrivers, Wrenches, doesn't matter.
I am also a carpenter
Are you Jesus ? He was a carpenter 😁
Weiners?
I like you!
your funny!!
Hearing tool for the first time as a kid you hear the music. Listening to it in your 40s you understand the meaning of the music.
I'm a 13.8 billion years old universe. I'm hostile and impersonal (well, most of the space-time) and I love Tool. The beings that emerged within me are huge fans and so am I. Great patterns of contracting and expanding air are great period. Better yet when qualia is involved. This band is amazing.
Thank you for not separating space from time; you're my kind of universe. 🤘
I'm on my way home from school, and actually crying from this comment. Pure gold.
This is so good but you must hear "The Wave" or "Whispering Wolf" by SLT 🤘
Word
Tool is art in its purest form. I will always love music that makes you think and leaves you breathless. These guys set the bar and nobody else comes close.
Tool is 50 segments of art blended flawlessly into infinite perfection.
This song makes me realize how short 6 minutes is.
I Understand... :(
Best way to describe

@@kataotr3816 wtf does that even mean

Soy uno de los nuevos oyentes de Tool. Son increíbles 🤩

ALways playing on the radio here in AZ 👌🏽👌🏽🤙🏽
Blows my mind that so many ppl had no idea who Tool was until this year
People don't have much time till the come out of their cocoons the end is now
Since 96 'I've listened this album in its entirety an estimated 4 thousand times and still get chills everytime!
Do you think Maynard has his waffles yet?
This song gives me goosebumps every time
Probably about the same here. Definitely more than any album ever. All Tool is great but this and Lateralus are masterpieces
@@lancelowery4027 see I like undertow better than lateralas
@@timcransberry6152 I used to feel the same. Lateralus just grew on me over like a decade.
I am a 69 year old grandpa and I love Tool. My sons are a bunch of pricks but I am not. Good music is good music period. This band is amazing.

You've reversed his name, funny thing it still sounds like a proper name
Heard this first as a depressed, quiet teen to lift me up on a bad day.
Researching this song got me into Carl Jung and started my spiritual and psychological journey in life.
Getting into spirituality exposed me to Terence McKenna, Alan Watts, good cannabis, and psychedelic plants.
Now I’m 38, and life is still crazy but I’ve learned to deal with what life tries to throw at me…. And I still listen to this to lift me up! Thanks Tool!
I am 27 and share almost the exact same path as you. Started listening to Tool in middle school before weed and just last year got to listen to Intension on DMT, in my back yard with a good friend.
Did you have children?
Hands down the best drumer to ever play a set. Danny is insane mind numbing timing signature
TOOL IS MY ALL TIME FAV BAND. TOTALLY FANGIRLING OVER HERE!! I LOVE TOOL!!! ALWAYS PUTS ME IN A GREAT MOOD N GRABS MY SOUL
