Dude, this video is rad. I just finished spraying my shaved e30 vert engine bay prepping for an m50 swap. The mini belt sander was by best friend. I bought it just for this project and it paid off! Good job on the build. Its beautiful.
Wow! I wasn't even aware of such a concept before I saw this. Top notch work! Looks like a minimalist PC build. Probably the most gorgeous E30 I've seen. Subscribed!
Awesome video, i am doing a 1972 Ford F100 truck restomod and putting a coyote engine in it, a friend suggested i should "shave the engine" and i didn't know what he was talking about, thank you for the detailed explanation.
The work that was put on it was so incredible that I could literally eat off it And I really respect the fact that you take your time to respond to every comment in the video
I didn’t measure it but logically I’d assume with a hood on it would be a bit hotter. It never appeared to be an issue, no bubbling engine bay paint, no overheating, no melted plastic
They’re all seam welded! We have a video on our channel about doing all the metal work on our RX7 engine bay shave if you want a closer look at the process
These colors are like my dream, really cool to see something that ive only imagined, I hope when i get the money for the car build i wanna do I have the energy and time you guys did
Sonnnn this is the cleanest thing ever! That amazing contrast from the body color to the white engine bay color makes everything pop so much.. Awesome build dude fr👌
That's probably the best e36 I've ever seen. My first reaction was it's to clean, but I changed my mind. Tons of these cars are made into drift cars. There will be few pristine examples like this is the future. Much respect. ❤
@@slightlyMADcustoms I'll definitely respect and pay more attention to show cars though! I assumed it was just a bondo-sand-paint job, not this level of grinding, stripping, welding and sanding.
Tip for the die grinder, use a battery power grinder with a cutting disc or small air tool with a cutting disc cut a little groove in the middle of the weld then go over that with the die grinder, it’s faster and the bit doesn’t bounce all over the place
My recomendation when filling a hole slightly to large is use flattened nails as fill strips or put a piece of brass behind the part you're welding to hold it in place or use magnets from an old speaker or hardrive to hold your fill piece in place
We use a makita belt sander. We modified the end to use 24" belts. There are custom wheels for the tip available made from rubber instead of metal. This allows for cleanup in corners or creases without any chattering or unwanted markings. Splitting the half inch belt into quarter inch strips works even better. I wouldnt buy anything other than ceramic alumina belts by klingspor. The fabric belt lasts longer than the grit applied, which is miraculous...

I have summer cars, i have a winter car and i have cars for driving arround the whole year. The youngest is a 95 corrado vr6. And i have them for driving. If needed from germany to the north of scandinavia in a few days. i need simple access for maintenance or troubleshooting. no, they are not failing every 1000km, but if there is something wrong, i dont want to take the whole car appart to look for fuses, houses and so on.
What a coincidence! One of the next few videos were filming is a full engine bay shave on our FD Rx7! You’ll have to check that one out once it’s posted
I just clean my windshield every once in a while, I keep towels and windex in the trunk. I’ve never had anything hit my windshield bad enough in the summer that needed to be taken care of right away!
Thanks so much! Ya anything’s possible for sure. It would be pretty straight forward. Custom engine arms, custom trans mount. Fbody oil pan would probably work. Block hugger manifolds might even work. Easy peasy
@@slightlyMADcustoms Oh really? Thanks for responding. Do they have decent instructions for their install? EDIT: I ended us sending them a message. Thanks again!!!
I've never looked in to this. Man, where do all the wires go? I have a rotary and would love to do this, but is maintenance that much harder when the times come? Clean look man
The wires for the headlights are ran underneath the fender, and the wires for the engine poke through the firewall right behind the engine. Doesn’t really affect maintenance. But troubleshooting electrical problems could be a little more challenging
Noticed you said the overflow was relocated down onto the frame, your overflow should be the highest point in your coolant chain. Especially on anything complex or high displacement , that way a proper bleed is possible and you don't end up with warped heads from an air pocket.
The fuse block is in the corner of the bay and wires go out from it everywhere. It’s not awful. But if you want that super clean look then it’s best to relocate
