Smoothing a Firewall - Fabricate a Custom Shaved Engine Bay

  • Now that we have all the rust out of the cab of our 1968 C10, the next step is to make a smooth firewall. If you want your C10 shaved firewall to look nice and not be full of holes, you have options. You can re-sheet the whole firewall to make it perfectly smooth, cut out all the original sheet metal and put new metal in.
    What we decided to do was just fill in the unnecessary holes using some of our circle patch plug kits that are perfectly sized for the holes that you will run into on a shaved engine bay, no matter the car firewall thickness.
    These patches make it super easy to weld these holes away on a custom engine bay and make the custom truck firewall look much nicer.

    Great vid. My 1950 chev 3100 firewall is like swis cheese and not just from the factory holes. Didnt realise you had the disks until i watched this. Incomming order :)
