  • This study was designed to test how muscles with distinct fibre type distribution respond to a typical obesogenic diet (combining fat and sugar) versus a Ketogenic Diet (rich in fat but devoid of carbs). We studied several parameters of muscle metabolism, including mitochondria biogenesis, anaplerosis, fat and glucose oxidation, glycogen synthesis, and ketolysis. In summary, contrary to the high-fat high sucrose obesogenic diet, the Ketogenic diet maintained the ability of skeletal muscles to respond to insulin while also enhancing, in fibre type-specific manner, rates of fatty acid oxidation and ketolytic capacity. Congrats to the team who worked on the study. I try to minimize sugar intake but I do enjoy sweet and tasty fruit. There's a recent video on the Easy Polish channel about scientists and it reminded me of your work, how some important work is done but those who do it may not be super well known. Have a great spring!

Could you please do a video on bloating? And how to prevent this from happening? My whole life I've dealt with a gassy stomach and I am often bloated. Please let me know what diet changes I can do. I eat as healthy as possible, no gluten, sugar, processed foods or dairy. I mainly consume meat, veggies, rice, potatoes.

Is it alright to consume avocado everyday? Possibly more than one?

Does no sugar necessarily mean less intake of fruits that are high in sugar (for example, mango)

Ive studied ketogenic diets are best for patients with epilepsy or seizure episodes, sometimes they stay on this diet for most of their life. Does this mean using only keto diet may even be nonbeneficial for epileptic patients and affect their muscles?

Our data actually provides support to the idea that the ketogenic diet shifts muscle metabolism towards fat and ketone oxidation while at the same time preserving the ability of the muscles to use glucose in response to insulin. In other words, there is no suggestion of a detrimental effect to muscles in epileptic patients using the KD as a means of treating the condition.

I'm just a humble poet , so does it basically mean that a diet with sugar is better ?

Actually the opposite. The less sugar the better.
