      I have a 2014 Equinox with the 3.6 engine (301 horsepower). These 2018 models will definitely be underpowered!!!! I hope president Trump reduces the strict CAFE requirements so vehicles can have some real power.

      coniacman it's 400 lbs lighter. I'll bet the new 2.0 turbo is a lot quicker than your V6.

      coniacman it might be a little faster than the new 2.0L but you're forgetting (or just dont care) about the horrendous fuel economy. isn't it like 17mpg

    What a great improvement over the previous Equinox models. We have a 2010 model and it has been a solid car for us maybe time to take a look at the 2018 model or move up to the Traverse for 2018. These reviews are top notch and seem certain to be much better than you get from a sales person. Thanks for taking the time to do reviews right.

    I went and looked at this and the crv and they're both really big improvements I don't know which I prefer but definitely these over the rav4

    • @Grogo59
      @Grogo59 7 років тому +1

      I agree with you. I test drove the 17 CR-V on Christmas Eve, the RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid on New Years Eve and the 18 Equinox AWD Premier this past Friday.
      The CR-V in AWD Touring guise comes packed to the gills with technology including Adaptive Cruise Control and looks upscale and beefier than its prior gen. predecessors. The RAV4 really is only worth it if one opts for the Hybrid. The regular RAV4 offers "fair" fuel economy - at best, IMO. The CR-V is, overall, the better value of these 3 but the 18 Equinox AWD Premier with the base 1.5L 170 HP Turbo has excellent pick up. It really scoots when you put the pedal down.
      Unfortunately, the Equinox also includes premium pricing and the option packages are ridiculous. In order to get the sunroof, you have to opt for the "Sun, Sound and Navigation Package" which includes 19" wheels and MyLink with Navigation. I'd opt for it anyway but, really? GM quite often packages their vehicles in this way, shoving nearly $2k wheels at us when 18" wheels are sufficient. If I had to choose right now, I'd be between the 2017 CR-V AWD Touring and the 18 Equinox. They each have pros over the other and there are few to no cons. The only tech upgrade one can opt for in the CR-V Touring is a heated steering wheel - which comes standard in the Equinox Premier.
      I don't think the 1.5L Turbo is underpowered in the Equinox. The 2.0L 252 HP Turbo due out by this summer will probably come at an increased price and will require premium fuel. The 1.6L 136 HP Diesel will almost certainly also come with a price increase vs. the 170 HP base engine, and diesel isn't exactly "cheap", either. I like HP but the base engine in the Equinox seems to have plenty of pep. The Equinox also rides really smoothly - just like American cars of old. I've always found Honda (I've owned 3 of them) to feel kind of "basic" in the "ride" department, could also be because of the CVT.
