The redesigned Equinox did a lot to get competitive within its class. This Diesel has good low torque, excellent MPGs, but lacks in passing power..go with one of the other engines if speed is your thing. What did you think of it? Thanks for watching!
GET YOUR FACTS CORRECT WHEN YOU DO A VLOG REVIEW. You need to read the actual road test of the Equinox. The 1.6 turbo Diesel is the fastest drivetrain. Post a correction at least
Alan C. Wilson I just saw your comment, which is 100% incorrect. The 2.0 gas turbo is the fastest by a long shot. Unless you’re in a country outside of the US...send me this so called road test...which is incorrect.
We have the 2.0T and compared to the Diesel it has much better acceleration and we average anywhere from 29 to 34 mpg depending on who is driving. When we were looking at buying it we test drove the escape and CRV as well and compared to either of them i thought it handled much better it may have a little less acceleration than the escape but seemed much quicker than the CRV. We have had it for about 9 months and love it
The Diesel gets you over 45 MPG fairly easy. That's real time driving of course, providing you're not going uphill where the engine works harder. I have the Cruze TDI and my MPG is constantly between 50 and 60 on highway. It drops in upper 30's when going uphill. So, if you drive a lot and it's mostly highway driving, get the Diesel. Otherwise, stick with gas.
I'm intrigued. I'm ready to try this one out. It has everything I need. I love the safety features. Looking at one now. God willing I'm able to take it off the lot.❤️
Thumbs up #54. Accurate review. I drove the 1.5L and I feel like I had more then enough power to get in trouble, not sure about towing a Bass boat. Thank you for the video 😎👍👍👍
It's unfortunate that GM failed to give you adaptive cruise at any price in the new Equinox / Terrain twins. Styling is subjective of course but the rear looks a little droopy visually...could be how the rear 3/4 windows are shaped. The 2.0t and new nine speed is a sweet combo. Thanks for the review!
Who really cares about this adaptive cruise anyway. You want to rely on some sensor/computer that might malfunction at some point for whatever reason? Those techno gadgets just make a driver more stupid and less skilled to drive. Have as an option, sure, but to include this shit in all cars is a waste of money.
Agreed I hate dynamic cruise control I have it on a semi truck I drive. things that flips out over you would not care about if you were in control. Besides you're the driver drive the damn car
Yeah and you should have heard the service manager at my dealership act like he had never heard of the problem. A start button is cute but what about if the battery is too low to start it. What I do is hook the charger up and leave it set till it is back up and it starts then. Stangest thing is it always starts if I have the nose facing down out steeper driveway. Explain that one!!
Great review! I have the same engine in the Cruze HB, and it is awesome on fuel mileage. I was wondering how it would run on a much heavier vehicle in the Equinox, but it sounds like it still does well.
The engine is of European dissent. It is made in Hungary. (GM medium Diesel engine ) Production started late 2013 More information is available on Wikipedia just put in GM medium Diesel engine........ It will give you the history the specs etc.
Youshould have read the road tests done by the auto magazines. The Turbo Diesel is the best performing drive train. Best acceleration, best highway passing, best top speed. You keep saying the 2.0 liter gas turbo which is not as powerful. I know I have driven all three engines. The 1.6L is not a sports car. There is NO 1.5L gas turbo. GET YOUR FACTS CORRECT NEXT TIME.
Alan, are you from somewhere outside of North America? The 1.5L has turbo 4 Cyl is the most popular and highest selling engine for the equinox. The 2.0 turbo would blow the diesel away in a race (not their purpose, but the diesel is slow). Any auto magazine or online article will say that. Read this: www.caranddriver.com/chevrolet/equinox The first thing that popped up when I searched for the equinox. 1.5T gas 1.6T diesel 2.0T gas
@@PrimeAutotainment No I live in MN. Natually I cannot find the road test that had the diesel just a little faster than the 2.0L gas that I read last March or April. I do remember it was done without the AWD. The reason the diesel is rated lower for towing is the transmission. It is sad since it does have good torque. But I would never consider towing with one of these anyway. I tow with a chevy siverado diesel. We are very happy with our Equinox and have gotten 55.1 Mpg hghway and rarely drop below 30 MPG city except in really cold weather. One glaring problem with the SUV. IF it doesn't start in the cold it then quits trying to start, leaves the entire electrical system ON and tells you the battery is low Start Engine! GM has yet to respond about that riduculous porgramming.
Glad to hear you are happy with it and the MPG is phenomenal, way to go! Bummer about the cold start thing...I have a friend who lives in South Dakota who owns one and he has had the same problem

The many trim and engine options will make it a good seller for Chevy despite the competition
Hikmat Ullah you’re right about that!

I have read you have to put some type of additive in diesel cars is this true?

Thanks for sharing Mic, I would go with he 2.0T if I was getting one. Cool to hear the comparisons you noticed with the others!

Thank you! Glad to hear it...probably not the boat but who knows lol. I appreciate it!
The new Equinox looks good and practical with added options though would prefer the previous body design. Great review PA
I agree the new design is a little funky to me but thanks for watching!
Thank you for the detailed review
My pleasure!

Yeah I was surprised about no adaptive cruise as well! I agree and that powertrain is definitely what I’d go with. Thanks, Stacy!

Alan C. Wilson sounds like your battery cell must be partly dry !
2,0 , litre Turbo diesel engine would have been ideal in the Chevy Equinox ? power with fuel economy. With the 6 speed Auto ideal match?
Great review! I have the same engine in the Cruze HB, and it is awesome on fuel mileage. I was wondering how it would run on a much heavier vehicle in the Equinox, but it sounds like it still does well.
Thank you! Yes it’s good enough and like you said, efficiency is great!
Good review, thanks!
Now I understand this correct the lower model of the equinox diesel does not have a button on the key fob to push to open the tailgate?
Now they just need to put a duramax in the Tahoe....
josh smith that’d be great! I could imagine them putting the 3.0 diesel that’s going into the Silverado soon..
Damn straight. A duramax in the Tahoe and how about in the Suburban too!!
What is the plus and minus sign on the shifter? And what does it do.
Jose, you can manually shift thru the gears if you like.
Well done.
Thanks

Does Equinox use DEF?
Is this a Duramax Diesel engine ? It seems everyone is not saying who makes the diesel.
I believe it is a German designed diesel but made by Chevrolet.
I also heard a tremendous amount of engineering went into it.
