I loved how the game was like "ugh you need to rescue these beasts because the poachers are using them for their fur" and then your next objective is to lock them up in the room of requirement and start using them for their fur :'D
1. Learn the murder spells 2. Poach as many innocent animals as possible 3. Attack your enemies from behind with stealth 4. Cheat at the puzzles 5. Break into the headmasters office 6. Abuse the difficulty settings Thanks Falcon!
Next thing u know Falcon will be telling us all to wear leather jackets and smoke cigarettes while skipping school after sending us all dowm this dark path of total chaos
For those just now starting the game: If you use Revelio, the bell sound you hear is a Revelio Page nearby. The sound will get louder when you are close and quieter when further away. It also makes the sound by room.
@teeds88 Not sure yet if it's for the chests, but if anything it's for the collectibles that show up on the map. However, the bell sound does go through walls as well, I've had a page a story lower from exactly where I was standing, so there's that.
I would like to add that the color of an enemy's shield matches with the color of the spell they are weak to. This took me about halfway in the game to figure out. My favorite is the one where you levioso the goblin and they scream, "PUT ME DOWN, IMA FRAID O HEIGHTS!" - "haha oops sorry... DESCENDO!"
I think they also say this when you`re doing the battles in Hogwarts at the beginning of the game, but good to mention that because i always forget that haha
Haha this game will be cracked in 10 days by EMPRESS, can't wait...! They absolutely deserve this for incorporating DENUVO DRM the worst system to ever exist!
Of course Falcon has liked this its one of the few games that has let some of his winged brethren show off in a few scenes. Gotta support his friends of a feather obv...
Trick for Trolls: This one won't appear in Duelling Feats, for some reason, but casting Dissendo on a charging troll will make him drop his club. He won't pick it back up.
Its revolting that it wasnt even mentionned at The Game Awards, this year show was clearly the worst by a long shot and hopefully they will rethink the whole thing.
Complete?!? Lacklustre useless "loot", copy-paste "dungeons", gimped 4-slot spell "system" with no combos, middling side quests only one of which is developed and it's a teenage-level fanfic... The only thing really developed about the game is its environments, but that's it.
It's ok to like a game. But you don't have to make up things to make it sound better than it is. Million useless collectibles. "Dungeons" are one road without enemies with one chest at the end that gives you worse gear then you have 99% of the time. Almost every mission half othe mission you are just following someone and listening to exposision. For example Landing patforms... what purpose have these? Just another pointless collectible. And that's just from top of my head. If I started the game again I bet I can find more of these things. Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban is still more enjoyable game than this imho. But that's just preference of mine.
@PiMaC1985 yeah no. Its an ok game but definitely didn't deserve to beat say BG3. Companion system was pretty much non existant(also still in the camp of there should've been a romance system. Something like going to the Yule Ball or a date to the Three Broomsticks). Most side quests feel pointless or in the case of poor Sebastian have a bad taste ending(in terms of there isnt really a resolution. Why not give us a ending where we could save Anne?) Another side quest handled poorly is the Haunted Hogsmeade one. Your telling me they give us a whole shop and its only purpose is giving us slightly better prices when selling gear? Scrapped morality system. Im using unforgivable curses in front of companions and they dont even comment. I cant even talk to my "companions" around school. I could go on but you get the point. All in all i would have preferred they delayed the game and fleshed out all this stuff. Heres hoping they listen to us for the sequel.
I agree with you, the game is fantastic! Feels great. People who complain about the systems in the game are just people go forgot how to have fun in a game by themselves haha geez, people really need to stop looking for the greatest strategy to speed run the damm games and just enjoy them. Seriously.
Also I’d just get the rank 2 potion skill point instead of getting the rank 3 potion skill point, by mid game you won’t need that third one and you’ll probably strong enough to survive most hits.
I'm playing through it now and when I got to the part where I could "Rescue" animals I howled with laughter. like "Ah yes, this creature at peace in its natural habitat. Let me just capture it and put it in a pen where it can't get out from or sell it to someone else" "We're helping you, do not resist."
Ah yes, the creature at peace in it's habitat, THATS BEING POACHED BY ACTUAL POACHERS. so therefore, THE SPOT IS NO GOOD. How would you feel if someone came into your home and attacked you and threw you in a cage ? How would you feel if someone heard about what happened at your home and came to your home to protect you or take you away to somewhere else from the evil people coming after you? Exactly. Case closed.
Funny little thing about reality is that how you see it, is literally who you are as a person. You obviously see things in a bad way, so you probably tend to think more negative about most stuff than positive. Just a little astute observation.
I love the stealth in this game. If you take the sprint while disillusioned talent you can clear out camps even faster, and get to enemies before they can aggro.
@@ArturoOrozco-p5j "common sense" to know the traits of mostly random blob images, that even once you've named them here I've never heard of. ...Yeah, ok.
@@LastBastian Most of these are beasts and monsters that exist in game, u can recognise demiguise from demiguise statues, demiguise mask, and Poppy’s line when u stealth together “what I wouldn’t give to be a demiguise right now”. Unicorn, graphorn and fwooper are beasts u can rescue, acromantula is a mini boss in several side quests, given what is known about them and thus the possible respective numbers, guessing out the entire correlation between the numbers and all images isn’t that hard.
@@eleanorkeith2235 Interesting concept, except that the reality is that most of the images look like misshapen blobs. And half the ones you can make out, make no sense. i.e. a newt that clearly has 4 legs = the number 6 the owl thing = 4 for some reason, the tic with 4 legs = 7. etc... On top of throwing a zero into the mix, claiming this is "easy" or "common knowledge" ...is ridiculously absurd.

I just got the game for Christmas and I’ve been exploring a bunch. I’m level 14 and just did the beginning hogsmeade mission with the giant trolls. Like I haven’t even got a broom or learned unlocking spell. It was the first day at hogwarts lol. I didn’t realize you only go to level 40. I’m almost half way there and barely did any quests lol
Yeah I finished the main quests at level 36. But I also brewed all potions, bred all beasts and really just enjoyed the process over trying to quick run. I was 80% complete all quests when I finished the main quest
Men... I really solved it with my messed up logic. I Counted the dots. Its 10. Ok... but if I think of the D10 (Yes... 10 side dice) It has a 0 on it. So... what, If this is like a D10. So... 1 is... no. 0 IS the first, because 0
Something I haven't seen anyone mention is when you are changing the style/color of your walls, floors, etc... in the room of requirements there is a button you can hold that will apply the changes to ALL of your walls, floors, etc... So instead of going to each wall section individually and changing them, you can select one section, adjust it to how you like, and then hold down the button to apply it to ALL of you walls in that part of the room
Letting falcon have free reign of the script and humor makes these videos honestly so much better even if you haven't gotten the game yet, much props and much love
Fun fact that hogwarts legacy actually doesnt tell you: You can transfigure animals into bags of gold, sheep into a ball of yarn, cows into a wooden cart and rabbits into a tophat.
Although it's been said it's anything but fun inside the gameranx offices when him and Jake are fighting over who gets to play it first each day. Legend has it that the previous employee before Falcon ended up leaving in a birdie bag by going up against Jake...
TIP: Don’t open any chests if your gear slots are full. Since when you come back to that chest, it’ll remain at the level you tried to open it at. Whenever you pick up a new piece of gear, it’ll let you use that style, even if you sell it or dispose of it. So always sell gear that you can’t/won’t use. Green, blue, and below those in value. To upgrade your slots outright, complete Merlin’s trials.
I was pretty regularly travelling back to Hogsmead to sell my extra gear, only occasionally needing to destroy a few green gear items to open chests. I'm not coming back, so I gotta get it right then. 😂
Or you could just find another chests and not sweat it. The best loot is purchased in Hogsmead anyway... I have over 80 hours in this game and 3 characters and all the gear i have with 110 defense or offense was purchased not earned.
I realized I never used stealth unless it was forced by a mission. I played on normal and I loved the combat so I went into every battle full force 😂 I may do more stealth on my second play through just to speed up the story tho
For the clock tower secret, you can also use Glacius, it gives you a bit longer to run up and down the stairs to get to the doors. Also I leveled up super quickly right from the get go by collecting Revelio pages, I just wanted to explore Hogwarts lol.
Pretty much, been consistently 15-20 levels above the main story quest recommendations xD (though enemies largely seem to scale so.. I guess it doesn't matter?)
@@ExileTwilight same, at one point i also was like 10-15 lvls above main quest. I feel like horklump juice is pretty readily available near water usually where you find leech juice. I haven't had to go to one particular cave to load up on it. In the beginning was having issues catching threstals for breeding till I realized you could use glacius on beasts. Imperio is great to use on trolls and mongrels accompanying enemies to clear an area with ease. Also the lower you are to water or the ground you have unlimited broom speed.
One thing that is either not told or I somehow missed is that you have to CLAIM challenge rewards. I got through the entire game then realized I had a shit ton of upgrades earned but not claimed.
@@LastBastianIt's one of the main menu sections. I also think it's odd to go through the whole game and not look at each section at least once. Also, the game gave me multiple reminders that I had unused talent points. Not sure if that's a settings thing.
So there is one aspect about this game i am so so happy about. Story mode...... Im slower than i used to be and i had a heck of a time surviving long enough to even get to hogwarts on normal mode. I might be about to turn 40 but i have waited decades to get my letter, it would have been so heartbreaking if i was locked out of all the fun because im not as fast mentally as i used to be (age, pain and medication have slowed me much younger than it should have) It also means all the little kids playing are going to be able to enjoy the game without the challenge that would have stopped them as well as myself.
I'm disabled, have multiple physical, emotional, & cognitive disabilities, & didn't start gaming until I was 45. My neuro prescribed me gaming for short-term amnesia I developed after an adverse reaction to a medication. Nothing appealed to me at first (although I did manage to finish Bioshock Infinite) & then one day I saw a video of Fortnite & although I wasn't into guns or shooters (I guess Bioshock was a sign now that I think of it) I had to play it. As you can imagine, I was terrible, but I have a ridiculously competitive spirit & that drove me, & my memory in ways nothing else could. I actually got pretty good at Fortnite & Destiny 2, but only after at least a thousand hours between the two, over nearly 5 years. If you don't have the competitive drive, or the hours to dedicate, you won't have the same results; we all have different strengths anyway, but from someone who couldn't remember to switch to other weapons in a fight for the first two years I played, I guarantee you, that you're more capable than you think, & even w/cognitive issues, you can improve your situation. It's hard when were conditioned to think a certain way about age, & then experience that decline ourselves in person, to change our mindset, but it's our mindset that holds us back most often. I'm not trying to get all Yoda on you, I just wanted to share my experience & it's possibilities.
the dark arts skill tree is so good. I have it so that expeliarmus and flippendo both curse the enemy they’re casted on and then the curse lasts longer than normal plus the enemy with imperio cast on them also curse any enemies whenever they hit them. Then, you get the perk so avada kedavra kills every cursed enemy in addition to who it’s cast on and boom. can wipe out a whole room in seconds, even if it’s three trolls
i did that too, its brilliant. I love Fig just not even blinking an eye as his 5th year student just straight up murders and tortures enough people to have 50 life sentences in azkaban in front of him XD
The perk for cursed enemies sharing damage is great for cheesing big enemies, curse big guys then a small enemy and ko the small guy with fall damage.. insta kills big guys (works really well on pensive guardians near pits)
Its way OP, good that avada came late in the game, i mostly just used crucio, removed expeliarmus and used just fire, 2 yellow ones and 2 purple ones. Imperio is funny to use stealthy and watch them fighting :)
@@cor7740 One of the reasons this game missed great opportunity to have development path. It could have been like Mass Effect plus they could have actually made a story progressing differently from the path we would choose.
I stoped getting and selling animals once I noticed that, when you do a secondary quest and go back to say that you did your thing once you finished the quest, you just need to say that it was "not easy" or you "need a compensation", the NPC then will give you about 400-500~ coins. These quest are around 10-20
You should freeze the clock pendulum. It lasts longer. There are at least 2 bell puzzles that, when done, are listed as secret puzzles, and horclump plants are literally everywhere ( usually in sets of 3) , no need to farm them at all. Just pick them up as you play, you will never run out.
When I saw your character in full armor I was like: So you can look like "screw which house I want to be. I want to be one of those knight statues." And I'm honestly all for it.
As a trick for the stealth you can also just pull them using accio like batman and use ice magic or the momentum magic if the target is alone meaning you were not spotted by anyone else, you can petrify it
As a fan I'd like to congratulate you guys on absolutely blowing passed IGN in your field. Compare your Hogwarts legacy videos and see what i mean! You've been slowly becoming the leader in video gamer content and I think, this year is when you leave the competition in the dark 🙏
@Cen Ciende I remember once they referred to Thanos's infinity gauntlet as the "Razzle dazzle oven mitt" in a non comedic way, at the point I was like alright I'm out. Lol
Yup, gameranx was made by gamers for passionate gamers from the beginning & never betrayed their vision. Howgart's Legacy is the first truly open world Harry Potter game, the early EA games were fun but linear & limited, it's only right to fairly review & help players out for the biggest game of the one of the largest IPs releasing, this is all the content true gamers have always cared about for decades not politics.
Man the last Harry Potter I played was Prisoner of A. on the ps2. Because I love the movies I felt the magic even on the ps2. I can't even imagine how it will be to play this game. I only know that I will spend so much time just walking through the castle and breathing in all the passion the developers have offered to us.
@@mytop3467 honestly. One of the best Harry potter games of all time. Think Witcher means Harry potter (but more simple as kids etc have to play 12+ up). Alot more simplified and alot more streamline are the controls
Note that there is a paper you can pick up out of a chest outside the arithmancy (sp) classroom that literally shows the symbols with their assigned numbers next to them, for the math puzzle doors. The classroom is on top of the stairwell with the painting you walk into on your first treasure map side quest. The chest is by a chalk board that has a math triangle partially erased.
I was so surprised that very few people have seen this. i guess everyone is too busy sprinting through the game... good on ya for having a keen eye and being thorough.
I'm pretty sure most people solved their first few of those arithmancy puzzles without that paper cuz you can either just brute force them or notice the symbols are in order. But yea, the paper helps if you can't figure out the puzzle
Strangely but in that particular area i did not need to go like at all. I just stumble upon it because i was searching last of the guide pages in that section. But before that i solved almost all if not all arithmetic doors. The only logic i was using is that its not the same symbol if that symbol is already presented in circle. It did not take actually much time to spin symbols and try them until combination is right, even though i figure it out that they must be in order as they are etched in door frame, but was so lazy to find the logic behind them xDD
Found the paper, solved a few doors, was a royal pain... till I noticed the order was around the doors so I didn't need to look at the paper at all, doh...
You can also breed beasts, which makes much easier money imo. You can breed many at the same time and only have to go to your room of requirement to collect them.
The lock picking became extremely easy after I noticed that the little gears (to the right for green and in the middle for red) move a bit when you turn the dial past the hot spot. Just turn each ring at full speed until you see the applicable little gear twitch and then move back in small ticks until reaching the hot spot.
Or set to story mode and just auto complete ..:p LOL. It really doesnt make sense that you have to use a "lock pick" style puzzle when you have an actual spell to simply unlock it... But I suppose its an extra puzzle for those who enjoy it.
Once I figured it out, that's exactly what I ended up doing, just full speed the way around into it jiggles then go back to it... But it gets super boring
One of the things that the Devs said in the livestreams before the game was out is that there is a lot of things about the castle and in the game that they want you to figure out and discover on your own. Sure, that isn't applicable to the wait in the map button, but it does apply to the Arithmancy doors since there is a paper that tells you how to do them but isn't a guaranteed discovery.
I cracked the code for the doors on my second try. I first assumed the symbole were ordered 1 to 10, then when the required symbol wasn't showing up in the selection, i guessed reversed order, then 0 to 9. From there, each door becomes trivial.
@@TomFromMarsyeah, I figured it started at 1 as well, but eventually looked at it and figured 2 horns, 8 legs, nothing unique about 0 so it starts at 0... Then I found the paper running around getting all those little things done lol
I never ran out of wiggenweld ingredients and I was making them like crazy once I got the recipe. Usually making enough to have 15 or 25 since I was playing on hard. I usually came across horklump pretty easily and once you got the seeds for dittany it shouldn’t be too difficult to be overstocked.
Some treasure vaults have an "arrow puzzle"-you need to place a block in the middle of a Tetris like wall with the arrow facing the correct position. After Wingardium Leviosa-ing them (or just plain Levioso) you can change their position with the D-pad. This is not obvious but hopefully reduces how much time one is on those puzzles.
The main thing I’d say is pay attention to the wording in Duel Feats. If it says “Flip” you use Flipendo. If it says “Slam” you use Descendo. Transforming Animagus back into their human form is done by using Transfiguration etc etc. Another tip is that the Unforgivables aren’t actually that good. In order to make them useful, you need both of the perks for Crucio and Avada Kedavra, and then have use a boss to curse every other enemy around you. You’re much better off using the setup spells ie Yellow and Purple colour coded spells, and then either Bombarda or Diffindo. Either go both Bombarda and Diffindo or one or the other. Final tip would be to find the Level 3 versions of the traits you want immediately after unlocking the nab-sack. There is a Kneazle den east of South Hogwarts Valley, and you can use them to put Level 3 traits on your gear immediately. Once you clear a bandit camp, just save and reload opening the chest to get the trait you want.
Glacio/Diffindio will damn near one-shot anything and devastates tougher enemies, even bosses *if* they are off balance. Can't lean on that, though, as both spells have meaty cooldowns.
@@joshc5309 Glacius and any damage spell realistically has that effect tbh. I only prefer Bombarda because of the AoE. I’ve found that slowing enemies gives you a lot of time to reposition and recover same as Glacius. One thing I’ve found though is that against enemies weak to fire, like Inferi and Spiders, Incendio is typically way more damage than Confringo, especially if you’ve got both upgraded.
@@slumpywumpy4166 or just transfigure them in barrels and its GG. :D That spell is ridiculously overpowered XDD Only tough enemies are trolls, just because they are immune to a lot of spells, have a lot of health, and need to wait them to charge to be stunned. Thats why i mostly dont use Ancient magic if i knew there is some strong enemy nearby. But later with crucio and avada (for those trolls for example) its grandma difficulty fighting xD :D
The Unforgivables are way stronger than you're giving credit. Crucio comes off cool down frequently enough that it's a monster of a move on its own. When spec'd into Dark Arts, there's nothing else in the game as potent except for being able to stealth around and Petrify everyone. And that's broken from a completely different angle, not combat. The setup and control spells are nice, especially when specialized in Dark Arts as Expelliarmus, Arresto Momemtum and Flipendo all also Curse your targets. Bombarda, Diffindo and Confringo aren't doing anywhere near as much damage as Unforgivables. Talented into Crucio the curses just keep spreading. Imperious Curse can handle Trolls and Acromantula's alike! They fight for you! Not to mention the fun little bug where you spread Curse with Crucio and then Transfigure any of your cursed targets and then all your cursed targets just immediately die. Thats 2 Avada Kedavra effects in the game and you dont even have to Talent Transfiguration to achieve that. That's kind of the point of the talent system, though. It makes whatever path you choose to go down potent. Tack on adding Traits like Unforgivable III to your gear and you typically don't even need Protego. You just merc everything before you have to worry about deflecting a spell. All this to say: your assessment is wildly misplaced and sounds like it's coming from a place of fanboi bias.
One other small handy tip is if you want to fly across a large part of the map instead of fast travelling you can click the L3 button to auto fly without having to hold the R2 button down 🤯
lol that literally there on screen, it is not "what game does not tell you". If they would auto hidden that shortcut showing controls to reduce hood clutter it would be meaningful.
Playing the my 500th hundred hour, and no one's talking about transforming pottery inside of treasure tombs into bags of gold. It doesn't happen always because sometimes the pottery changes into chickens, frogs, rabbits, and mice, and then runs away, changes back, and sometimes breaks, but on certain 2nd or 3rd attempts it becomes a bag of gold ranging from 9 to 20 something galleons. Comes in handy when low on funds to make purchases for upgrades.
#4 - for those who really hate those lockpicking puzzles... ( like why would I need to do a puzzle when I have a spell to unlock it????? lol) - Set the game to story mode, it will let you "auto complete" the lock pick. OH and another thing the game definitely does NOT tell you! You Can actually toggle the hoods on your cloak up and down!! AMAZING !
You can actually land your broom on to that starway leading out from the headmaster's office. So you technically can gain access to both locations if you rush the moonstone gathering to get the level three unlocking spell. It's a bit finicky to land your broom, but just look for the crease in the wall where the tower wall meets the vertical flush wall. It seems to be no bracade there to stop you from gaining access; however, you do gotta force it a bit. Now time for it to get pached out... sorry guys.
Definitely cheated on the Merlin trials where you need to jump from tower to tower by using my broom. You just need to touch the top with your feet, you don’t even need to land.
Tried this after I found the locked door in the tower and looked it up, they've fixed it so there isn't even a lock on the outside before you do the quest, just looks like a generic door put there for show but isn't actually functional.
Yes this game is freaking amazing. First game I preordered in years. Went in with zero expectations, got it just because of all the controversy, and omg this game is amazing. Just wish the NPCs were more interactive, but damn this game is awesome.
@@Lawrence_Talbot how does the combat feel? That’s the only think I’m worried about. It all seems ranged so I’m wondering whether it’s engaging or after putting in 15-20 hrs will the gameplay loop become redundant?
@@thedude3987 I mean yeah you’re using a wand to cast spells. It is all ranged 😂 not to be rude but what did you expect? Randomly pulling out a sword or a boxing match lol. Only real close combat is stealth takedowns, which they said in the video is actually faster. Combat is okay. I’m never disappointed by it. Lot of different spells and upgrades you can unlock so that keeps it entertaining at least for me. But tbf, what combat system doesn’t get a little redundant or tedious at the 20 hour mark?
When it comes to defeating an enemy what I’ve found useful is having arresto momentum in my arsenal. Pull them with Accio and then use the spells you have in your arsenal but making sure you use arresto last. By the time the enemy is back to normal, the spell thing fills up and repeat
if you play the game and don't understand what Merlin trials do then you are deaf, blind, and dumb... these are supposed to be hints that the game DOESN'T tell you about. the only way you ignore this is if for what ever reason you don't click on the "!" exclamation mark on the "Challanges" icon, which it's very well understood you get rewards from that page. it explicitly tells you that from the beginning. so again, you'd have to be a moron to need advice for this mechanic. that person should be flogged.
Speaking of which, anyone know where the big ball is around Keenbridge? I dropped the mallowsweet, and saw a big bowl depression, but I can't find that big-ass ball fer nuthin'!
@Daniel Kover Revelio has a wider range if you're on a broom, and make sure you have the extend Revelio range talent. With these 2 combined, you can pretty much find those puzzles easily
@@danielkover7157 i think i might remember this, there should be a hill, or it's right above that area, anyway use a fire spell on the ground, there are some roots covering.
Smoked Gouda is definitely my favorite cheese. Lol, I’m all seriousness though, I’m having such a great time with this game. Like many others, I’ve waited so long for a game like this set in the Harry Potter world. I tried not to keep my hopes up while it was in development so I didn’t get disappointed if it turned out bad, but they blew my expectations out of the water for sure.
Here's a tip, the Merlin puzzles where you have to climb and jump to a bunch of different platforms can be done on your broom. Just activate the trial with mallowsweet, hop on the broom and graze each platform with your feet
You're technically not a poacher in this game because you're NOT killing the animals for resources. This was useful! Thanks for sharing, I hadn't figured out the bridge puzzle on my own.
for puzzle number 2 the clocktower: if you use the slowdown spell you will have to wait a bit later in the storyline. it can be done with the Glacio spell. it freezes it and then you can enter the corresponding room.
Another trick to quickly unlocking doors... if you know you're just running around Hogwarts/Hogsmeade and villages hitting lock after lock after lock and not doing actual combat... just put the game on story mode, then when you pull up the mini game there is a button option to skip it. you can then immediately hit the back button before the animation is done and the lock still finishes. Just remember to put the game back on whatever difficulty you where playing on when you go back to fighting. It's been awhile since I got all the achievements, but if i recall correctly this trick doesn't effect any achievements for swapping difficulty mid game, though I still recommend only doing this on a 2nd or 3rd play through or after you get all the achievements you care about, just to be safe
I appreciate that Hard Mode in the game is actually hard sometimes. It's nice that the game is difficult enough that if you get lazy during combat, you're going to have a bad day.
Unfortunately, the only game I've ever seen handle difficulty correctly was Diablo 3. That game actively encourages and rewards you for ramping up the challenge.
1 horn? That must be 1. 2 horns? They must be 2 3 heads that must be 3 Cheese, they must be 4. 5 hairy arms, that must be 5 8 legs, that must be 8 9 extremities, that must be 9. Let's plug those assumptions into the symbols on the doors. Hmmm, they're all one off. Oh! Zero extremities must means zero. That's the process my brain went through in 0.68 seconds. What I can't figure out is why the target lock will lock onto a flying book 3 stories up, that you can't normally lock onto, during a duel wherein 4 targets are standing right in front of you.
For the poaching one Deek directly mentioned you would be selling these creatures to somebody known to keeping animals safe and protected so at first my parents got mad at me for immediately wanting to sell em but when I heard deek say it I was like “HA IM NORMAL”
Not gonna lie the fact that they are at risk more in the wild surrounded by poachers and taking them to someone who can take care of them for now kinda made it feel better 😂
We can also harvest horklump juice from the caves inside the vivarium (room of requirement), and basically other stuff like moonstones, lacewing flies, leaping toadstool, ashwinder eggs, leech juice are available too!
There is one thing that isnt mentioned. You dont actually get exp from killing mobs. You get exp from progressing challenges, hence when you reach the point where the enemy kills has been maxed along with battle feats, you will no longer get any exp from battle arenas.
Yes I'm glad you said that. I was trying to grind the challenges to get to level 40, and it took long to realize I wasn't getting any exp. The only way to max out the level is to 100% all the challenges including completing all the main/side quests
It really does, the game is amazing and tons of fun. My only personal gripe with it, is that I wish they leaned slightly more into the life sim side of things
@@Hellooooo-kq1hb The devs have been pretty transparent about that fact, so I guess I was kinda ready for that. But yes, I would've loved a more Bully/Persona vibe.
I played as a Hufflepuff, and I wrestled with how my character would handle it. I eventually decided to learn them but never use them just in case I need to use them for the greater good. The joke is that my character would die before realizing, "THIS is where the greater good is served by the curses!" Lol
For my later builds, my Slytherin will obviously learn them and use them, and the Ravenclaw will learn them for the knowledge, but the Gryffindor won't learn them, being willing to face any challenge without the crutch of the unforgivable curses.
FYI, once you get the breeding station unlocked you can breed them over and over and over its a unlimited source of income, and I have noticed that the boxes you need to be stealthed for sometimes will give you 500 gold again but i have to confirm this by going back to them and see if they drop gold for a third time.
What I heard: "It's a Harry Potter Game that plays like an actual open world Fable, complete with battle arena for profit and puzzle (demon) doors, mixed with a Newt Scamander/Pokemon animal collecting mini game and a Skyrim/Fallout three day respawn for stuff" I am now sold on this game. Accio Fontina!
you can access the headmaster's office as soon as you get a broom and lvl 3 Alohomora. don't have to wait. just gotta fly up and land on the balcony! ALSO: leave the bigger chests like from the hogwarts secrets, and some locked houses unopened until you're closer to max level. the gear you get from them is always going to be around your current character level. so if you wait and open them at level 36-40 you'll get the best possible gear.
Love how much discovery is in the game, and it’s like accessible discovery. It vaguely pushes you in a direction and lets you know you can interact with the world but it’s on you to figure it out. Games like ER are great but I felt like so much of the exploration and the side quests was impossible to figure out where in this game I haven’t had to look up a single guide to figure something out.
You don’t have to wait to enter the headmasters office. Once you have the unlock spell you can fly to the walkway with the lever 2 and 3 locks and just hop off your broom. You can explore the observatory and the office then take the key and fast travel to the hogwarts trophy room.
you can still learn the unforgivables after Sebastian’s side quests even if you chose the wrong dialogue at the time. After the quests he’s hanging out in the undercroft and if you speak with him you can ask him to teach you
I remember this cuz when I talked to ominis after Sebastian was expelled he was still down there and ominis kept talking abt missing him so much but he was right behind him 🤣
@@unblandwhitechick7372 The game has very few actual consequences for your actions. Depending on your own personal morality of course, the unforgivable curses make the game trivial.
11:00 a fun thing about the arithmancy doors is their tie to the study of ancient runes. The correlation of the numbers to their symbols was already part of lore. The correlations are as followed: 0- Demiguise: because of their ability to become invisible 1- Unicorn: because of it's singular horn 2- Graphorn: because of it's two sharp horns 3- Runespoor: because it's a tri-headed creature 4- Fwooper: because it has four colour variations (orange, pink, lime green, yellow) 5- Quintaped: because it has five legs 6- Salamander: because they can only survive outside of a fire for six hours 7- Unknown: the creature representing seven is unknown and therefore so is their reasoning (if you look into arithmancy, seven represents the explorer, i.e. wandering the unknown) 8- Acromantula: not about their legs! because they have eight eyes 9- Hydra: because of it's nine heads
Pepper jack and provolone are my favorite cheese since you asked Falcon :) But honestly, played the early access on pc today for about 4 hours... didn't even realize 4 hours had gone by from how much fun I was having just exploring the castle!! This has definitely lived up to my expectations and then some
if you turn the audio accessibility icons on, you can see on a dial in which direction came the hidden scrolls "ding" Its easier to figure out if it's on the same floor too since it kindof show the vertical direction as well
@@MlleLyla cool, i did not knew that, too late now, collected all of them that gives traits (or whatever they give). But will try it just out of curiosity. :D
my trick for the lockpicking is just to spin the wheel at max speed and just wait for the light to come on. I used to go little by little until I found the perfect spot, but spinning it fast is so much better. Don't even look at the wheel and just focus on the light . It only blinks for a millisecond while you are spinning it fast, so I overshoot it by a little bit each time, but at least you know approximately where the unlocking spot is and just have to rotate it back a little bit to complete the puzzle. It shaves at least a couple of seconds off each lockpicking minigame, so by the end of the game I've saved a considerable amount of time.
By the way for number one. If you choose goody goody dialogue you can talk to Sebastian again to learn the curse. You don't have to force dialogue you don't want for the sake of learning the spells.
Thank you for these tips! I am fairly new to gaming. The last time I played was N64. When PS2 came out My brother sold our N64 and I stopped gaming really. This game got interest enough to play but I have a lot of catching up to do! I don't remember it being this hard way back when. I used to be able to just turn on a game and automatically know what to do and I feel like there's a lot of times in this game when I don't know what to do and I am incredibly thankful for UA-cam so that I can just play the game and enjoy it. Thank you for all these tips again!
First of all, provolone cheese for sandwiches, Colby jack for Mexican style food. Second of all, hearing the pure joy in Falcon's voice about this game is so refreshing! I'm having a blast at 4 hours in and not even having my broom yet. Great video guys! Thank you!
Honestly I really like it that there is so much to discover and you don't get an explanation fom the game, because it is so much more fun to discover things. I am definitely an explorer and like finding side missions for myself. I made some decisions to advance in my game such as revelaing all the demiguise locations, going on a beast hunt so I can upgreat my gear. And omg I am so easily distracted with all the things to do...
I'd have to say my favorite type of cheese is brie, brie has this soft, yet firm texture that when biting into it, your mouth is filled with its cheesy glory. Along with that the overall quality of the taste of brie far outshines other cheeses as it doesn't hold much sharpness at all, yet still provides the same cheesy taste that most cheeses require. Brie also pairs well with most crackers, I usually associate brie as a delicacy as it is typically more expensive than your average cheddar or mozzarella.
The game also doesn't tell you that wingardium leviosa is like revelio, you can use acio and hold it and it turns into wingardium leviosa. It saves a spell slot and you don't have to swap it out all the time
Oooh that makes sense. I tend to hold my buttons down pretty long and I was very confused when accio kept turning into wingardium leviosa! I hadn't thought to press the button just quickly hahaha
The Glacias spell, the freezing magic, is also good for the pendulum in the clock tower. Experimented to see if it worked and it did. Felt happy with myself then.😊
At 11:35 , you do not need that parchment because those beasts are around the door , the sloth is 0 , the unicorn is 1 & hydra is the last one at number 9..
Hogwarts Castle is awesome. I love puzzles in games, Tomb Raider is a good example. Hogwarts gives me fond memories of exploring Croft Manor and solving puzzles in Lara's home. One of my favorite parts of the earlier games. When I first ran into the symbol doors I figured it was math related right away. Ah math...the bane of my existence. 😑 Thankfully these look easy now that you revealed the trick. I just left them after running into the one near the chalkboard with the symbol-number diagram. I figured I'd just come back later to deal with them.
As a Slytherin, I highly recommend investing into Stealth. it allows you to manipulate the enemies, even on the hardest difficulty. Search algorithms are as bad as any other game, so it WILL lead to the inevitable Skyrim "Guess it was nothing" laugh. Stealth also allows you to witness some of the awesome idle animations for creatures that you will not see if they detect you. One awesome example is a Troll warming its hands at a fire, then turning around and warming its backside.
This was a really good video. As it’s been said, you can tell that Falcon is having a blast with this game/topic. Also for those puzzle doors, I’ve been using subtraction instead of addition. I’ll check again later tonight and make sure it still works. Can’t wait to play more of this game. Edit: Subtraction for the puzzle doors will unlock them.
Nothing warms my dark heart like some pepper-jack cheese, and watching Falcon have fun on a video. I can't wait to play! I'm downloading it right now and plan on spending most of the night exploring Hogwarts! The only good thing about being disabled is also the worst thing not having a job, lol!
Ive been playing for about 8 hours now. Love your commentary and it's super on point. All the star wars references are great, too. It really does fit in the same way.
One thing I learned about the door unlocking-mini game, the lock usually makes a click sound once you hit the sweet spot. So make sure to listen to the lock when unlocking doors/chests, the click is very faint so it can be hard to hear. Hope this helps anyone struggling with locks.
I loved how the game was like "ugh you need to rescue these beasts because the poachers are using them for their fur" and then your next objective is to lock them up in the room of requirement and start using them for their fur :'D
They're not "Locked up". They're literally in their own world's. Literally

Oh thank you! I thought it's for the chests but when I checked they're already open so I ignore it.
The bell's actually for both the chests and field guide pages
It took me a whole play through to find out.
I never figured it out on my own lol my sister told me and I was like WHAT?!?!
They actually tell you this on the 2nd or 3rd round of crossed wands!
didn't you read the notification you have to click through explaining that for each different shield bubble colour?
You can use revelio while on your broom and it shows you everything in the area below you in a wider scale than when you use it on the ground

It’s honestly impressive how many systems are in this game but what’s even more impressive to me is how complete they all feel
Seriously.
For potion brewing, crafting Wiggenwelds becomes irrelevant by the mid-game when enemies drop them left and right.
true, I never did a Wiggenwelds potion on this game and it's pretty easy to always stay with 25 potions
Literally all I ever hear is that I can't carry more 😂
@@Miss_Tenebriss Especially since you heal after combat is over, I don't even be drinking the potion lol
I've had 25 of them in my inventory for most of the game and I barely even use any except for boss fights.
And the fact when you put them in a pen, you use them for your own personal gain too. lol Though I guess that is what humans do irl as well.
Yeah it made much more sense if you just saved all the beasts from poachers... not steal them out of their den.
it is not being hunted
Demiguise > invisible = 0
Unicorn > 1 horn
Graphorn > 2 horns
Runespoor > 3 heads
Fwooper > 4 colors
Quintaped > 5 legs
Fire Dwelling Salamander > 6 legs
The Unknown > Author's favorite number = 7
Acromantula > 8 legs
Hydra > 9 heads
Wow 🤯🤯🤯
There's a chest you get that gives you a list showing the animal and number. It's also common sense

Something I haven't seen anyone mention is when you are changing the style/color of your walls, floors, etc... in the room of requirements there is a button you can hold that will apply the changes to ALL of your walls, floors, etc...
Good right tip although hard to tell because some chests have money
I was pretty regularly travelling back to Hogsmead to sell my extra gear, only occasionally needing to destroy a few green gear items to open chests. I'm not coming back, so I gotta get it right then. 😂
Main point is, if you don’t open and open it at later level, higher level gear. Ie: “Equipment drops scale with level”
Or you could just find another chests and not sweat it. The best loot is purchased in Hogsmead anyway... I have over 80 hours in this game and 3 characters and all the gear i have with 110 defense or offense was purchased not earned.
Great tip! Thank you!
I actually find MOST 9/10 of the side quests very enjoyable

You can use your broom to do the jumping merlin trials, technically you are not touching the ground
For the clock tower secret, you can also use Glacius, it gives you a bit longer to run up and down the stairs to get to the doors. Also I leveled up super quickly right from the get go by collecting Revelio pages, I just wanted to explore Hogwarts lol.

It's hard when were conditioned to think a certain way about age, & then experience that decline ourselves in person, to change our mindset, but it's our mindset that holds us back most often. the dark arts skill tree is so good.
Honestly you really just need Crucio and Avada Kedavra perk and you can basically clear out a whole camp

Spoken like a true ravenclaw ❤
Found the paper, solved a few doors, was a royal pain... till I noticed the order was around the doors so I didn't need to look at the paper at all, doh...
You can also breed beasts, which makes much easier money imo. You can breed many at the same time and only have to go to your room of requirement to collect them.
The lock picking became extremely easy after I noticed that the little gears (to the right for green and in the middle for red) move a bit when you turn the dial past the hot spot. Just turn each ring at full speed until you see the applicable little gear twitch and then move back in small ticks until reaching the hot spot.
Yup, that's what I do, and this is probably the easier way if you're playing on keyboard and mouse
Or set to story mode and just auto complete ..:p LOL.
It really doesnt make sense that you have to use a "lock pick" style puzzle when you have an actual spell to simply unlock it... But I suppose its an extra puzzle for those who enjoy it.
It's extremely easy on xbox because the controller vibrates in the correct spot. Only takes seconds to unlock them.
Wtf lmao it's not that hard isn't that what everyone else does
Once I figured it out, that's exactly what I ended up doing, just full speed the way around into it jiggles then go back to it...
One other small handy tip is if you want to fly across a large part of the map instead of fast travelling you can click the L3 button to auto fly without having to hold the R2 button down 🤯
Yey I noticed that when I was messing with the buttons, it’s a good tip
When in doubt, tap the button next to the broom (or whatever) when your mounted. Tells you everything you can do.
lol that literally there on screen, it is not "what game does not tell you". If they would auto hidden that shortcut showing controls to reduce hood clutter it would be meaningful.
I do like the fact that you have to discover certain game mechanics and secrets on your own.
Now time for it to get pached out... sorry guys.
I was thinking the same thing. They gave us a broom, so let's see what we can get away with.
i did that hahhaha i was kinda dissapointed when i found the right way andalready opened the chest
Thank you guys for this, I appreciate the gameplay tips. I'm loving the game so far.

I think the Merlin trial should have been something you mentioned since they increase our inventory space
if you play the game and don't understand what Merlin trials do then you are deaf, blind, and dumb...
these are supposed to be hints that the game DOESN'T tell you about. the only way you ignore this is if for what ever reason you don't click on the "!" exclamation mark on the "Challanges" icon, which it's very well understood you get rewards from that page. it explicitly tells you that from the beginning.
so again, you'd have to be a moron to need advice for this mechanic. that person should be flogged.

I can feel Hermione having a panic attack as Falcon pronounces things hahahahaha
The pronunciation of Revelio and Alohamora though... 😬 Revealio and Allahamora... 🤣
You're technically not a poacher in this game because you're NOT killing the animals for resources. This was useful! Thanks for sharing, I hadn't figured out the bridge puzzle on my own.
You're merely enslaving them
for puzzle number 2 the clocktower: if you use the slowdown spell you will have to wait a bit later in the storyline. it can be done with the Glacio spell. it freezes it and then you can enter the corresponding room.

I played as a Hufflepuff, and I wrestled with how my character would handle it. I eventually decided to learn them but never use them just in case I need to use them for the greater good. The joke is that my character would die before realizing, "THIS is where the greater good is served by the curses!" Lol

you can access the headmaster's office as soon as you get a broom and lvl 3 Alohomora. don't have to wait. just gotta fly up and land on the balcony!
ALSO: leave the bigger chests like from the hogwarts secrets, and some locked houses unopened until you're closer to max level. the gear you get from them is always going to be around your current character level. so if you wait and open them at level 36-40 you'll get the best possible gear.

11:00 a fun thing about the arithmancy doors is their tie to the study of ancient runes. The correlation of the numbers to their symbols was already part of lore. The correlations are as followed:
0- Demiguise: because of their ability to become invisible
1- Unicorn: because of it's singular horn
2- Graphorn: because of it's two sharp horns
3- Runespoor: because it's a tri-headed creature
4- Fwooper: because it has four colour variations (orange, pink, lime green, yellow)
5- Quintaped: because it has five legs
6- Salamander: because they can only survive outside of a fire for six hours
7- Unknown: the creature representing seven is unknown and therefore so is their reasoning (if you look into arithmancy, seven represents the explorer, i.e. wandering the unknown)
8- Acromantula: not about their legs! because they have eight eyes
9- Hydra: because of it's nine heads
Pepper jack and provolone are my favorite cheese since you asked Falcon :)

my trick for the lockpicking is just to spin the wheel at max speed and just wait for the light to come on.
The Knight armor suit is some comedy gold
By the way for number one. If you choose goody goody dialogue you can talk to Sebastian again to learn the curse. You don't have to force dialogue you don't want for the sake of learning the spells.

Thankfully these look easy now that you revealed the trick.
I just left them after running into the one near the chalkboard with the symbol-number diagram.
I figured I'd just come back later to deal with them.
Look up Oprencia and try it.. it is a really fun puzzle game.
Yeah it's fairly obvious, but there is the cheat sheet outside the Divination classroom too for those hard of thinking players.
Again, informative and entertaining video! Thanks gameranx🔥
👍🏼
Pepper Jack is my favorite, also great content as always!
That’s how I figured out my first one
Anybody wanna tell em? 😅
Subtraction is just the opposite of addition, so of course it works lol
