Honestly I’m older and haven’t had this much fun and spent this much time in a game since Skyrim. I pre ordered and have had the game a few days and already played 44hours, and not even that far in the story. Just so much content, side quests, flying around loving the scenery, exploring the grounds and castle, battling poachers, spiders, wolves and more, spending time with my creatures brushing and feeding them, gear upgrades, making potions and herbs, decorating my room of requirement, it’s amazing
bro me too!! i just plug in a controller and RP walk everywhere. the game looks so gorgeous and i'm only on med settings. also not that anyone asked but i have Ray Tracing turned off and i still get great reflections and awesome lighting. (i only do this so i can play 100+fps.)
The tickling the pear trick near Hufflepuff is straight from the books. It's awesome that they have continuity in the game. It's little things like this that make this game so fun for Harry Potter fans.
I love all the little references. Like the Portrait of Wizard Baruffio, he said S instead of F and ended up on the floor with a buffalo on his chest. That was brought up once, one time by Flitwick in the first book and it's never mentioned again but this game added it to the lore.
I've been bombarded with "10 things I wished I knew" videos, and the absolute best tip for me was to not bother with exploration and sidequests, and to focus on your main quests until you progress to fall/autumn. It felt like I was playing a demo until I unlocked the broom, talent tree, room of requirement and alohomora (unlocking spell).
Yup definitely it’s spaced out to the point where it prevents me from exploring every single spot, just made it to the autumn, so I’m excited to get the unlocking skills so then I could explore the rest of the castle and etc!
Unlocking Talents at level 21 was certainly something. Also spending your skill points wisely is worthy to mention since there's no way to respec and you won't be able to get every skill on one character. Let's just say I made quite a few bad decisions when I got 16 talent points and didn't think that much about how I should spend them...
Agree. I was already level 11 when I realized I still hadn't unlocked the Talent tab (which made slotting new spells really annoying). I think it's so easy to get distracted because every time you meet a new character on your way to fulfill a main quest, it switches to THAT side quest without you even realizing it. Every time I'm done talking to a character, I'm now going back in to check whether I'm still following the main quest, at least until I unlocked all the basic stuff. Maybe there's an easier way to do this, let me know :D
Not sure on how you can say “actually eerie” as the Harry Potter ALWAYS had a dark and mature feeling to as as the characters age and aspects of the world darken and get more serious in serious situations! The Harry Potter world gets progressively darker and sinister as the horror of Harry Potter is actually beautifully adult and breathtaking on how maturely dark the series gets! Especially you say this more so in the movies which looks BEYOND incredible to see how progressfully darker the Wizarding World heat as the characters age up more and more to highlight the threat their facing and how serious the situation is becoming! Love how dark and serious the atmosphere of the world gets as the world of Harry Potter and even Hogwarts as the game presents that PERFECTLY so! Love the game so much!
@@Gadget-WalkmenI've never seen someone else realise how the series ages with the characters but I completely agree and find it one of the most important reasons to why it's such a good franchise!
during the day tho it feels like a normal forest, just with few enemies here and there 😂 i feel like they should make the trees more bushy or something to make the sunlight harder to come in so it's still eerie during the day too

@@jasongreen6826 A lot of games don't have it or at least don't have it at launch. It's a system that's only starting to get traction. Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft we're really the first games to implement it and then it went to the more recent Assassin's Creed. If people don't like dungeon crawlers, MMORPGs, FPS, select fighting games or Platformers, they certainly haven't seen it before. Even Cyberpunk 2077 only got transmog after it had been out for almost two years.
Quick thing that not all of you may know about is if you completed the game and didn't get the dark art spells from Sebastian you can actually still learn them. After you've completed all Sebastian's relationship quests you can visit him in the undercroft and talk to him. He'll teach you any dark arts spells you're missing.
@@Oschar157 I actually think they really dropped the ball with the forbidden curses. There are no repercussions from using spells that put you on a par with Voldemort. Also gating them so late in the game sucks too, but I get they ARE incredibly powerful. I just think it would be nice to genuinely be able to do a moral and immoral playthrough that actually matters outside of your own mind.
This was my biggest gripe with the game. It is styled like an rpg, with character creation and dialogue choices, but in reality it is almost entirely linear. Your choices have essentially zero consequences on the story or the world. It forces you to be a character they've already created, so why bother with character creation and dialogue choices in the first place?@@helvete983
For the house token cabinets, an easy cheese I found is pressing space as soon as you press F to interact with it allows you to instantly complete it because the key always starts in the centre of the puzzle.
Going around and finding well known places from the movies makes this game feel truly special. Walking up to Hagrid's hut, with the giant pumpkins outside, was one of the most amazing gaming moments I've had in a while.
I’m not even a Harry Potter fan, I’ve only seen the last two movies, but I have literally been staying up until 1-3 AM playing this game since I got it the other day, so fun.
You can talk to Sebastian and if you missed the curse you can ask him to Teach you if you said no during the quest. This goes for all the dark arts after they could have been unlocked
Lmao my first play through of farcry3 I was half way through the game when I realized I can upgrade my skills lmao no wonder I thought it was so hard at first
Am I the only one who's actually enjoying wearing the goofy outfits? I think they just fit well with my character's persona as this eccentric kid who appeared out of nowhere and within weeks had mastered the most difficult spells, had their own personal hangout spot (with garden!), and had become so indispensable and powerful that they had almost the whole school and the surrounding areas eating out of the palm of their hands?
This game is really like a puzzle itself. Sometimes side quests feels like main, main quest is like just doing another task to get know world this game build within. This is really cool tips. Thank you.
10 hours in and I'm blown away. I was so worried it wouldn't be good but Avalanche knocked it out of the park. I had full intentions of being a dark wizard but I can't even be mean to these characters I want them to like me 🤣🤣
I've been playing for a few hours and really the only complaint I have is you don't really have the option to be a "Draco Malfoy"-esque asshole. Every conversation the character is an awe-struck doughboy, which works if that's what you want, but if I wanted to do an "evil" playthrough there isn't really the option.
@@NakedOwl501 idk lol. I think you can make some pretty big asshole decisions, especially w/ the side quests. you can essentially extort NPCs when you finish their side quests & if it was a fetch quest, you can literally just keep whatever it is and tell them you won't give it to them. the gobstone girl insults me every time I walk by her cause I kept them.
Tip: Prioritize doing main quests until you get talent points, broom flying, and the room of requirement unlocked. It will make things much easier for you.
A helpful tip while navigating the "Hogwarts Map," you'll notice the fire floo flag icons are greyed out when not discovered and white when discovered. The flags will turn black when you have an undiscovered side quest/assignment/relationship in that location or a continuation of a quest. Hope this helps!
They absolutely tell you. It's literally an onscreen prompt that is visible the entire time you are messing with your gear. You must have had a common core education if you need to be spoon fed more than that.
The "transmog" choice was implemented really well in The Division 2 and GoW: Ragnarok. Love that more studies are noticing how well gamers have accepted this.
Honestly that’s some recent memory bias right there lmao transmog is not a new system in the slightest. Not saying you’re giving them ALL the cred for inventing it, but tons and tons of games have had transmog just felt odd to name them lol
They did SUCH a great job, ALWAYS having something going on. Something new to find. I remember last night, I was looking for one of the moths. And 5 minutes later I'm on top of the roof. 🙉
The appearance change system has been my god send because I can't be a student wearing clothes that aren't my school uniform. Takes me out of the experience. Maybe at endgame I'll wear something different but unless there's a story reason why I'm wearing different clothes than my peers then I can't
Feels like we’d benefit from either a toggle that forces us to wear a school robe of our choice when taking classes or just outfit sets that we label: School, Exploration, Swimming, Broom Flying, Monster Hunting, etc.
Im not even a Harry Potter fan and I love this game. So much to explore and a beautiful world and the combat is very fun. It's also inspired me to watch the films finally. They are very good

3:55 There's 3, once you unlock the disillusionment spell and the Hogsmeade area. Scattered around the village are several (like 16 or more of them, I think) of those chests with eyes on them. They each contain 500 coins/galleons. All you have to do is sneak up on them with the disillusionment spell and open them that way to get the money. There are also some at Hogwarts, I'm sure.
I once watched my sister play and she found one of those chests and I was like, "yeah, I don't know how to open them either," and my sister was like, "I'm gonna search it up." So she did, and we found out it was that easy to open
I never understand players who let all the "Exclamation" marks sit unchecked in a game missing out on upgrades and such. It drives me crazy to hit ESC and see them all starring at me and I have to check them immediately.
There's actually more to the 'exploit the enemy's weakness with a spell' in combat usually. There's usually at least two possible steps, if not three. For example, the Dunbogs you mentioned with using _Leviosa_ on their tongues as they attack will leave them wide open, but you can actually use _Diffindo_ afterwards to cut their tongues and do huge damage. Another instance of this is an Ashwinder Executioner getting ready to do their huge fire pillar attack, use _Arresto Momentum_ to slow the Executioner, forcing them to cast the spell for *much longer* than they had intended, allowing you to toss other enemies into the fire pillar for huge damage with your control spells like _Accio_ or _Depulso._ One "Global" combo that works on most all enemies for big damage without needing to be a real 'counter' to them is simply using _Glacius_ and then immediately following up with _Diffindo._ If you're not into killing your opponents, you should probably not use any of these powerful combos, as even the _Glacius + Diffindo_ combo slices them into little pieces and shatters them if it was a fatal blow, which more often than not it will be. For trolls, there's a couple options: If they throw a rock at you, block it and then use ancient magic (RB/R1) to toss it back! Alternatively, when they do their 3 hit combo, on the third hit that you can block, instead use _Depulso_ to throw their club back into their face! (< this one you need to be fast for) There's tons of them in the game like this, and most of them are explained to us, the players, by way of Duelist Challenges shown on the bottom right of combats. It might literally tell you the full combo, or just a part of it to give you a hint on how you can do the full combo. *Bonus:* Enemies take fatal fall damage. If you have elevation, your favorite spell just might be _Accio,_ with no follow up to have them plummet to the ground for all their health as damage.
Hogwarts Legacy is one of the best games I have ever played, the love and attention to detail that’s gone into this game is absolutely incredible! What is so so sad is there these crazy insane people trying to spoil the game for everyone by throwing up mega spoilers on social media, and suggesting the game is graphically inferior when it’ looks absolutely fantastic or for example, Only has two enemies when it has 80 and so on.
One of the most common mistakes I see players do is not learning enough spells. Most of the quests and puzzles requires you to unlock some of spells in order to proceed the story forwards.
I love the appearance changer. It's so good. I got a literal pair of pajamas that were WAY better then my current gear haha so being able to change the look is a literal game changer
Also if you levitate the frog by tongue make sure to hit them with diffindo to cut their tongue (deals massive dmg) but if you wanna maximize it freeze them first by glacius (while levitated) then cut their tongue.
If Ashwinders warp into a map they instantly see you but if you run away and recast or use invisibility potion you can sneak up on them as well if for whatever reason you want to full stealth the game. Petrify in stealth does a ton of damage to trolls as well. If you change the time of day when your owl posts are auto speaking to you it fixes it most of the time as well.
I think there’s reason to believe we could get all of those. The amount of money WB has made and the fact that this is a game that lived up to all the hype says a lot. Were definitely getting some serious dlc and I’d be really surprised if they don’t make a sequel or a spin off game.
Forcing you to wear it is also a good idea so you can see if you like the look of this brand new gear you’ve picked up. If you don’t. You just change it. It’s not often you find a piece of gear you like the look of at the very beginning of the game.
It's honestly not that bad, takes 5 extra seconds since you're already in the inventory menu. Also, maybe this new gear you got looks even better, how would you know if you got a permanent transmog on?
When I started growing my own dittany leaves and making my own wiggenweld potions, I seldomly ever run out. It's definitely worth doing the extra work to make your own. It's a lot easier than you'd think and the payoff is worth it
I actually loved wearing all the random gear, especially the dragon glasses or the lizard eye glasses. Gave me a good laugh every time I spoke to an NPC and remembered how ridiculous I looked 😂
I've never been into the franchise myself but I knew I'd be getting the game and I'm really enjoying it. Just been spending ages exploring the castle before I venture out into the wider world. The devs did a great job creating this world.
I actually came across the moth mirrors before I found the quest for and figured out how to solve them on my own. Very satisfying that it still allowed me to find and solve them before the quest
In Red Dead Redemption there's a touching scene in Annesburg where you say goodbye to a woman and her son. It was funny to play it with a ridiculous giant fur hat.
The option to change your gear appearance was one of the things I enjoyed with ubisoft's immortals Fenyx Rising and I agree, should be a game mechanic in a lot of other games
Many of those mistakes can be summed up as "don't ignore the exclamation marks". If you play with a controller, use the (button that used to be the) start button instead of the map button - and you see in which menu are new things.
I dont know how people can miss those things, its like so basic, basic gaming. Or maybe my ocd is worse than I thought, since the beggining of the game I was already checking everything, maybe some people are less curious and didnt really check all the pause menu had to offer xD
I've just got it on PS4, have to say as an older gamer this is the first game since elden ring where I can't stop playing, I thought it was gonna be in a bad state on last gen but was really surprised, loving it, thanks for the vid

35 years old this year. I remember having the first Harry Potter read to us over summer school in middle school. I didn't really get into it, the lady who read it was a little bland. But as the movies happened I was more and more interested. This is easily the most fun I have had since Oblivion and Skyrim.
If theirs one thing I’d change it’d be turning a few spells into prompt’s instead of hot keys like repair or Levio and such. I find myself constantly having to change builds during main quests.
you can also get stuck if youre standing in the wrong spot when making bridges / stairs or things like it. i was watching a streamer in some ruin where he had to drag bones over to a specific spot to form a staircase but he was standing between the start/end points and was stuck inside of the stairs unable to do anything.
I went to check out a tent in a goblin camp. I was then stuck in the entrance for 2 mins before I had to Floo powder like 400M before running back that direction to take out the other camp nearby.
If you want money at the very begining of the game, cast revelio near the coastal castle, at gringotts and during the vault 12 trial, you will found many chests around who contain money. Also, if you want ro level up fast, do the moth puzzles, search for chest and do the arithmancy puzzles and then go to Hogsmeade to sell your gear to the vendors. Then you can also do the moths puzzles there or wait until you have the desilusion charm to go find the 500 galleons chests in Hogwarts and Hogsmead. Like that you can level up and have more money at the begining of the game. Hope it help ^^

I had no idea you had claim challenge rewards! I was level 15 had the room of requirement unlocked and I had done, maybe 10-12 Merlin trials and couldn’t figure out why my gear slots never changed until I finally scrolled through the challenges
I just love exploring, like straight exploring. I turned off my mini map in the castle so I had to force myself to learn the castle by memory. Best immersion choice I’ve made.
This is the best game I've played since Skyrim. I'm having so much fun and I can't put it down. I can't believe what they have created. My expectations were high but they delivered way higher. I hope they add on more to this game. Don't really care how much it is either. This dev is legit.
here are five tips that i think are important: use leviosa then defendo to one shot those deformed giant frogs use leviosa when u r on ur broom use depulso against wolves use fire spells against spiders and infernis have fun exploring and DO UR SIDE-QUESTS! use the upgraded dodge to traverse faster when u cant use ur 🧹!
The dueling challenges that pop up will teach you how to do massive damage against some enemies. Example: Pick frog up with levioso and use the slashing spell. When a troll slams their club on the ground, dodge instead of parry then use the flipping spell. When the ashwinder/dark wizard executioner is charging their attack, disarm them and they'll explode.
I don't mean to be contrarian but how so? This looks like just another RPG with colored loot. The menus look almost exactly the same as Valhalla down to even the font. Also, it looks like they downgraded the graphics. Maybe it is because I don't have any connection to the potter universe? I'm genuinely curious as to why this is being received so well. What's the X factor?

I’m so glad that they made a Story mode, my wife has only recently gotten into playing video games again, and I was so scared that some of the mechanics were gonna be a barrier too large for her to get over, but she is getting along quite nicely, she’s already talking about stepping up the difficulty. I’m just glad that she gets to enjoy this game first hand.
Holy crap, I had no idea about these more subtle secrets in Hogwarts. I felt quite disappointed when I thought that there were only these main puzzles such as the math or moth ones. But to actually observe the interior of Hogwarts more carefully with the X-ray vision only hinting that there's something more to the environment you're in, that is so awesome. Here's hoping that there's more to the common rooms than meets the eye as well... Also, knowing that there's more depth to these fights makes me want to play this game on hard difficulty and go at it in a more tactical way. Super helpful video, thank you!
The way I've been waiting for this game. I wanted to jump in day one but it didn't come to pass. Honestly this might end up being the first game I'd actually replay many times.

So I’m pretty proud to say that, for the most part, this all came to me from instinct, so that’s cool. A pro tip for you gamers out there: for your gear, sell everything like he said, but if your slots are full and you wanna pick something up, destroy a green piece item (cheapest) worst case scenario, you pick up the same value item. As far as the unidentified items, same thing, but try to prioritize unidentified (you may get a new look)
You can get a good experience after just getting revelio and your 2 initial spells. Accio will help you reel in those flying pages and levioso can be used at certain statues to uncover their secrets. It is an obvious thing to realize but also easily forgotten. Through just general exploration and some trial and error I kept getting a bunch of experience and I only just finished my gathering quest in town and now that I got repairo I'm looking to see where I can use it. It feels alot like a metroidvania in which I keep getting new abilities and opening new paths
The moth one isn't required, I ended up figuring one out by accident up in the astronomy tower. Definitely do the quest because you can, you just don't need to before you can complete the mirrors
Right?! I used to love the PS2 game, hopefully they'll make an update or a dlc or something that adds quidditch to the game, like you can't just leave that out, it's an important part of the Hogwarts experience hahaha
It would be nice if they implemented a custom appearance default that the user can set so that when they put on a bunch of new gear they can click/press a button and everything will look the way you want. I am constantly putting on newer better gear but then changing the appearance back to look the way I want on every individual piece. I would love to configure how I want to look once then just click a single button to apply that look to my new gear.
Best combo in the game: Cast crucio on anything, give i a few basic hits to spread the 'crused' status and then cast avada. All cursed targets will die. Even if you had like 10 cursed targets (green X) all 10 will die. Require two talent points.
The bonus one is just wrong, if you say no to Sebastian when he asks you to learn the curses the first times, you can go and speak with him in the undercroft whenever you want to and learn them there, I did that after the main quest but I saw it way before that
Here’s one I didn’t realize, you pick body type/gender through the presets in the character maker, which is really dumb and confusing. I tried making a girl character but what I made was a boy with long hair and a girls voice who I guess identifies as a witch or something. Most rpgs I’ve played have a male/female body type selection, presets read to me like “randomly generated characters” not starting points for your own character. I got almost an hour into the game and couldn’t figure out why I was wearing a suit and couldn’t have the girls uniform
@@NottherealLucifer I mean I realized all the choices in the customized looked male but I couldn’t find any obvious way to change that so I just assumed it was a quirk. Like I said normally the first choice you get is male or female body type then you get the other choices from that, this game doesn’t have that
Number 10 reminds me of the shopkeepers in Morrowind. Sell a piece of armor and they wear it themselves when you sell it to them. Exquisite shirt, pants, and shoes...steel helmet.
There's so much to do in this game that takes you outside of the main quest. It's nice that the quests don't feel forced like you have to get onto this next quest. It does give you time to explore and investigate the world.

When the normie learns what a transmog system😂

Another instance of this is an Ashwinder Executioner getting ready to do their huge fire pillar attack, use _Arresto Momentum_ to slow the Executioner, forcing them to cast the spell for *much longer* than they had intended, allowing you to toss other enemies into the fire pillar for huge damage with your control spells like _Accio_ or _Depulso._
One "Global" combo that works on most all enemies for big damage without needing to be a real 'counter' to them is simply using _Glacius_ and then immediately following up with _Diffindo._ If you're not into killing your opponents, you should probably not use any of these powerful combos, as even the _Glacius + Diffindo_ combo slices them into little pieces and shatters them if it was a fatal blow, which more often than not it will be.
For trolls, there's a couple options: If they throw a rock at you, block it and then use ancient magic (RB/R1) to toss it back! Alternatively, when they do their 3 hit combo, on the third hit that you can block, instead use _Depulso_ to throw their club back into their face! (< this one you need to be fast for)
There's tons of them in the game like this, and most of them are explained to us, the players, by way of Duelist Challenges shown on the bottom right of combats.
You can also use flipendo on a trolls club right after they smash it on the ground to flip it back at their face
The best thing is the alohamora spell. It’s literally gotten me through so many doors, lol
I love the appearance changer. It's so good. I got a literal pair of pajamas that were WAY better then my current gear haha so being able to change the look is a literal game changer

@@twodragons27 option would still be appreciated though.

Or even have the transmog stick when you switch items
Also if you levitate the frog by tongue make sure to hit them with diffindo to cut their tongue (deals massive dmg) but if you wanna maximize it freeze them first by glacius (while levitated) then cut their tongue.
If Ashwinders warp into a map they instantly see you but if you run away and recast or use invisibility potion you can sneak up on them as well if for whatever reason you want to full stealth the game. Petrify in stealth does a ton of damage to trolls as well. If you change the time of day when your owl posts are auto speaking to you it fixes it most of the time as well.

DLC is “confirmed” but prolly atleast 8-9 months away from release
Wish transmog had an option to make your selection permanent. Gets annoying when you have to change it again when you equip better gear
That is true I’m glad it’s here tho most games take months to add this
Forcing you to wear it is also a good idea so you can see if you like the look of this brand new gear you’ve picked up. If you don’t. You just change it. It’s not often you find a piece of gear you like the look of at the very beginning of the game.
Yeah, kinda like the way Cyberpunk does it, though I do wish you could change it on the fly in Cyberpunk as opposed to visiting your apartment.
It's a lot easier than you'd think and the payoff is worth it
Honestly. Get yourself the T potion station and just work the 3. They only take 15 seconds so you can max out in a couple minutes.

The option to change your gear appearance was one of the things I enjoyed with ubisoft's immortals Fenyx Rising and I agree, should be a game mechanic in a lot of other games
It is a basic mechanic in most looter shooters.
Many of those mistakes can be summed up as "don't ignore the exclamation marks".
If you play with a controller, use the (button that used to be the) start button instead of the map button - and you see in which menu are new things.

After a troll slams his club on the ground you can use flippendo to make it hit itself
For the forced stealth quests, I find that if you fail them enough about 3 times, that section of where you fail will have the npc be gone.
The insane amount of puzzles and activities blows me away.

Yes
Best combo in the game: Cast crucio on anything, give i a few basic hits to spread the 'crused' status and then cast avada. All cursed targets will die. Even if you had like 10 cursed targets (green X) all 10 will die. Require two talent points.
The bonus one is just wrong, if you say no to Sebastian when he asks you to learn the curses the first times, you can go and speak with him in the undercroft whenever you want to and learn them there, I did that after the main quest but I saw it way before that
The mispronunciation of Daedalian Keys made my die.
The mispronunciation of your criticism of mispronunciation made “MY” die even more😅
Here’s one I didn’t realize, you pick body type/gender through the presets in the character maker, which is really dumb and confusing.
This is the type of confusion jk is talking about! Lol jkjk
That's kinda funny
You didn't realize that every other option was the same sex? It was so very obvious.
@@NottherealLucifer I mean I realized all the choices in the customized looked male but I couldn’t find any obvious way to change that so I just assumed it was a quirk. Like I said normally the first choice you get is male or female body type then you get the other choices from that, this game doesn’t have that
@@tomscott9230 ik right kind of ironic lol
What a surprise a game that worked on release and beautifully made and fun! The freaks tried to boycott the game but failed badly!
