Okay. I have taken 4 characters to the absolute limit. Level 40, maxed out gear, 100% collections and more, done 95 Merlin trials 4x over and each character has visited each and every treasure vault. in all I have put in 533 hours in this game. SO - How the heck did I not know, or find out that I could wear a robe with the hood up! Oh, and using Revelio whilst flying is a great way to find those pesky 'Follow the Butterfly' locations.
one thing I absolutely love about the game is the npc having their own dialogue and being able to witness someone getting a howler or getting thrown out of zonok‘s for stealing. i even overheard someone having sent a love letter to imelda lmao
Anyone else amazed at the attention to detail in this game? It’s the little quality of life things like transmog, just walking past floo flame locations to unlock them and the unique ingredients for each potion. Makes the game so much more fun to play and so much easier to figure things out
A good quality of like update we could get is walk up to a floo flame you've unlocked and press square(or whatever button it is for everyone else) from there you can choose any location you want. It's abit annoying how you have to going into the world nap, Hogwarts map and hogsmead map. also an animation could play of you going up in green flames
amazing tip: if u cast imperio on an enemy and then use disillusionment, u can keep casting petrificus totalus on that same enemy, dealing an enormous amount of damage. this is great against high health enemies like trolls, especially when ur playing on hard!
Hey another thing that will save time, instead of crouching under obstacles you can dodge teleport under them and come out the other side in an instante, enjoy saving time and looking cool while you are at it
Extra tip for following quests: You can't sprint with the characters, but if you have improved teleport-dodge, you can use it and they'll start sprinting to catch up with you, making escort quests even faster.
@@insipidbore4320 Yes, you end up ahead of them. This enables your sprint which is usually turned off on escorts. Just start sprinting on the path they'd prolly take and they'll sprint even faster, catching up with you. Rinse and repeat.
i feel like this game really has just so many little quality of life things in it! like, in addition to not having any pickup animations, the extended range for midair revelio, and the NPC walking/running speeds, did you notice that you can't accidentally sell any clothes you have equipped? it's just little things like that that make me so happy! like it's so simple but so nice. it's obviously not perfect and it does have flaws (biscuit remains unrescued and it's killing me!) but it can't be denied that the devs put A TON of thought and care into this game
I only ask because recently had problems with it but have you tried going to area and doing revlio on broom as took me ages to find them and ended up coming back later to finish it
💯💯💯 the team was so thoughtful in designing the mechanics of this game. The only thing I do wish we could have had in addition would be dropping our own markers on the map: That way I wouldn't have had to memorize where all those legendary chests were ( in order to return to them later in the game to max out my gear 😝 )
One small thing I also love is being able to collect things while on your broom. I'm so used to having to get off my mount, I accidentally did it several times before internalising I didn't need to. Also that for nearly every collectable you get the final reward before finding ALL of them, which keeps non-completionists like me motivated. Allthough I guess it is rather sad that in most cases if you do complete all of them you seem to actually get nothing at all, like not even a pat on the back or a golden pile of poo.
Me only two complaints are: 1) I wish you could cast spells while mounted but I could see why they didn't allow this. 2) I wish there was a "mark item for sell" and "sell all marked items" options. These are nitpicks more than anything. I am really enjoying the game though. I've explored so much I am level 30 with level 16 missions and I think that gap is going to significantly increase soon. I love exploring in games. 😅
Casting lumos on the werewolf tapestries reveals a really sad and spooky story which i think is so cool. They lit up blue with revelio and I couldnt figure out what i was meant to do with it for hours xD 🐺
i was actually hoping to see the snowman thingy. after i melted it i thought to use the freezing charm and already pictured disappointment in my head but oh boi was i happy to see that he actually comes back. instantly put a smile on my face. never had such fun with any other game
The most simple thing I love is how Depulso does little to no damage unless the victim hits a wall or a pit of fire. Even then it varies on the damage depending on what they hit and how far they went. Just love that for some reason 🤣
the more hogwarts legacy mechanics focused videos I watch the more I realize this game is 100% QOL as a genre. The devs hit a frickin home run in pretty much every point possible.
Except for NPCs having very disjointed conversations. If you listen in closely to the NPC chatter, they talk about two different things one right after the other. It’s jarring.
@@TheFirstAtom yeah i see that too, it can be fixed though. Im sure with time theyll polish stuff like hat with ease. Seems like the team is pretty hyper focused when it comes to tiny details which is great to see from AAA games again
The only QoL improvement that I want to see is some customisation on the flying controls. Still can't get used to using one stick to steer and the other to control elevation.
You can complete the Merlin trials where you jump on top of a series of stones while on your broom. Just drape your toes on the stones for quick and easy trial completions.
As a side note for the potion combo you can basically make the Focus Potion infinite if you can Lumos over and over again it will refill you focus bar :)
It’s also not just the NPCs that start running when your run. Even other stuff like the butterflies you need to follow, the candles in that one treasure map, once you start running, they become faster too.
You should mention that when you wear your hood up enemies can knock it back down when they attack you and you have to go back into the menu to put it back on Edit: also accio will cast wingardium leviosa as well when you have both spells
Tip about hopping pots (around 6:30 or so), if you are full of that particular potion, use Evanesco (the RoR delete stuff spell) to get rid of the hopping pot and then replace it. You don't get a potion out of it, but you weren't going to be getting one anyway with your inventory full. At least it is working toward your next potion that you are probably full on. 😉
The hopping pots (and chests with wiggenweld since they stay marked as unopened) need a way to ditch a potion you can’t take into inventory. With the pots you can remove the pot and put down a new one when you get stuck with a full in entire slot.
When in big battles that include a Troll plus other enemies, if you have the Imperio curse, first thing you should do is cast Imperio on the Troll, you can then watch the Troll take out most enemies for you. Its super OP. when the Troll is only enemy left still hit him with Imperio again and he will just stand still and you can rack up a big combo on him really easy. I got the 100 plus combo trophy this way.
and if you like collecting stuff like me but don't know where to go, just open the world map and scroll all the way up... you'll see every area and hovering over them with the mouse will reveal a list of all the collectibles... that really helped getting 100%
For the first tip (Number 10), you can use Expelliarmus, Flipendo, and Arresto Momentum to add the "Cursed" affect to enemies; provided you have the appropriate skills.
Found all of the potions very easy to make simply by growing all the mats in the pots I can put out myself. Never had any issues being full on all of them without ever using a hopping pot.
You can also spam Lumos to keep the focus potion timer going, to the point you can completely refill the meter if it's almost empty. It's good for maintaining the buff between waves.
@@FormulaJuan3538 Not sure, I'd imagine it wasn't intended because it essentially makes the buff last indefinitely but they haven't removed it as far as I know.
This game is awesome. One thing that I suck at is getting a good setup for the spell wheels. I'm always struggling switching between the wheels during combat.
I try to put the same color on each of the corresponding directions on each spell diamond. So my left button is always purple, for example, regardless of the diamond I'm on.
@@chadbizeau5997 I had my spell wheels set up for combos I liked, so each wheel had two to four spells I liked to use together and utility spells to fill any gaps but I found remembering which direction was which combo was annoying in the mid section of the game. I started doing what you do after that and switching is way easier when you know up is red spells and left is yellow 😂.
Also OP, set up your wheels and then just cycle between them on at a time while trying to commit them to memory, one you have it figured out start flipping through them in random order while trying to remember each one before you swap to it. Train yourself outside of combat or when you're just fighting two or three enemies and you'll commit them to memory more easily than if you only pay attention to them in the middle of frantic combat.

Most of them blasted past their hype in the opinions of the majority of their players, so surely there are others in this list OP would agree lived up to the hype. You could say even counting every game on this list its not many games in the grand scheme of things, but honestly the tens of thousands of video games that are created in a year are mostly ten minute indie garbage and mobile scams. There are a few dozen actual game releases every year and there's almost always at least one stand out victory in those twelve months.
I am seeing the novelty wearing off though. Some game mechanics are somewhat dull and uninspiring. Sometimes shallow and tedious even. The amazing visual side hides it well, until you realize you're playing Spyro with Arkham Knight combat 🫠

There are multiple OP builds in this game. With the gear traits that increase plant damage, I'm one shotting entire groups of enemies with a Mandrake. This is on hard difficulty.
The potions are such a key part of the lore, but outside of wiggenweld, I don't think I ever used them. The only time I used plants was when the combat tasks asked for them. They (both plants and potions) felt good, but wholly superfluous.
The team behind this game are genuinely masters the amount of attention to detail and things to do is insane I’m always learning new things with this one
For #4 - It is awesome that the NPC's do keep up with your character if you run, but there are two things to take note of: 1. They do not keep up if you use the apparate roll. They will still run, but running is their top speed and the apparate roll is faster than that. 2. In some quests, they have to go through their entire dialogue before you progress to the next part of the quest, regardless of how fast you are travelling. So sometimes you will be going super fast, but then have to stop while they finish their dialogue, then you can start running along again.
You actually do have to use wingardium leviOHsa on the boulder merlin trials because accio doesn't work on the boulders and then doesnt automatically activate leviosa

Oh, and using Revelio whilst flying is a great way to find those pesky 'Follow the Butterfly' locations.
if I did that I would be bragging to😂
Next side mission : touch grass
one thing I absolutely love about the game is the npc having their own dialogue and being able to witness someone getting a howler or getting thrown out of zonok‘s for stealing. i even overheard someone having sent a love letter to imelda lmao
Fire tip, thanks buddy!
Hey another thing that will save time, instead of crouching under obstacles you can dodge teleport under them and come out the other side in an instante, enjoy saving time and looking cool while you are at it
👍🏼
Extra tip for following quests: You can't sprint with the characters, but if you have improved teleport-dodge, you can use it and they'll start sprinting to catch up with you, making escort quests even faster.
See I heard that but for some reason when I do it I end up ahead of them and have to wait for them to catch up
@@insipidbore4320 Yes, you end up ahead of them. This enables your sprint which is usually turned off on escorts. Just start sprinting on the path they'd prolly take and they'll sprint even faster, catching up with you. Rinse and repeat.
You can sprint. It depends on the mission. Walking with the goblin to retrieve the helmet I was sprinting the entire thing.
i feel like this game really has just so many little quality of life things in it! like, in addition to not having any pickup animations, the extended range for midair revelio, and the NPC walking/running speeds, did you notice that you can't accidentally sell any clothes you have equipped? it's just little things like that that make me so happy! like it's so simple but so nice. it's obviously not perfect and it does have flaws (biscuit remains unrescued and it's killing me!) but it can't be denied that the devs put A TON of thought and care into this game
I only ask because recently had problems with it but have you tried going to area and doing revlio on broom as took me ages to find them and ended up coming back later to finish it
💯💯💯 the team was so thoughtful in designing the mechanics of this game. The only thing I do wish we could have had in addition would be dropping our own markers on the map: That way I wouldn't have had to memorize where all those legendary chests were ( in order to return to them later in the game to max out my gear 😝 )
new update frees biscuit!
Me only two complaints are:
1) I wish you could cast spells while mounted but I could see why they didn't allow this.
2) I wish there was a "mark item for sell" and "sell all marked items" options.
These are nitpicks more than anything. I am really enjoying the game though. I've explored so much I am level 30 with level 16 missions and I think that gap is going to significantly increase soon. I love exploring in games. 😅
The Polyjuice Potion quest made me laugh so hard 😂
Simon Pegg nailed that role perfectly
fav quest next to sebastian had a good laugh
Same!!
Casting lumos on the werewolf tapestries reveals a really sad and spooky story which i think is so cool. They lit up blue with revelio and I couldnt figure out what i was meant to do with it for hours xD 🐺
Hogwarts Legacy is GOATed. Hopefully its success leads to more quality games down the road :)
🤞
i was actually hoping to see the snowman thingy. after i melted it i thought to use the freezing charm and already pictured disappointment in my head but oh boi was i happy to see that he actually comes back. instantly put a smile on my face. never had such fun with any other game
The most simple thing I love is how Depulso does little to no damage unless the victim hits a wall or a pit of fire. Even then it varies on the damage depending on what they hit and how far they went. Just love that for some reason 🤣
It does suck when they hit a wall but don't "impact" with it however. Besides that, I love slamming enemies into walls or off cliffs
the more hogwarts legacy mechanics focused videos I watch the more I realize this game is 100% QOL as a genre.
@@Cludnugget took me a second, now I have a blast flying around
The menus on Playstation isn't the best, but in almost every other way, the game is just spot on with these things. 👍
You can complete the Merlin trials where you jump on top of a series of stones while on your broom. Just drape your toes on the stones for quick and easy trial completions.
As a side note for the potion combo you can basically make the Focus Potion infinite if you can Lumos over and over again it will refill you focus bar :)
Yeah I also tried it. Found it first when watching JorRaptor’s vid on yt.
Omg thank you now I can have unlimited Avada Kedavra with no cooldown!!!! Definitely mastering this on my other playthroughs
It’s also not just the NPCs that start running when your run. Even other stuff like the butterflies you need to follow, the candles in that one treasure map, once you start running, they become faster too.
You should mention that when you wear your hood up enemies can knock it back down when they attack you and you have to go back into the menu to put it back on
Edit: also accio will cast wingardium leviosa as well when you have both spells
You can start a Merlin trial, then get on your broom and then use Revelio to make it a little easier to solve the trials.
Damn, thanks!
No need to get on your broom just use revelio
@Skank Hunt some Merlin Trials objectives are quite far though, so the broom Revelio definitely helps
you can hop on your broom for the ancient magic trials too and can open chests and search bags and money sacks while on a broom as well
Tip about hopping pots (around 6:30 or so), if you are full of that particular potion, use Evanesco (the RoR delete stuff spell) to get rid of the hopping pot and then replace it. You don't get a potion out of it, but you weren't going to be getting one anyway with your inventory full. At least it is working toward your next potion that you are probably full on. 😉
Or just drink said potion.
Or just use the potion you're full on and restock...
@@EricWoelk either way is a waste imo.
The hopping pots (and chests with wiggenweld since they stay marked as unopened) need a way to ditch a potion you can’t take into inventory. With the pots you can remove the pot and put down a new one when you get stuck with a full in entire slot.
Completely agree about number 4, such a good addition to the game.
👍🏼
Also if you do the upgraded dodge roll they still keep up
I was actually clapping on this entry👏
I use this constantly
For the first tip (Number 10), you can use Expelliarmus, Flipendo, and Arresto Momentum to add the "Cursed" affect to enemies; provided you have the appropriate skills.
This, and also upgraded transfiguration spell instantly kills all cursed targets. No need for avada kadavra.
@@simonceder how does that work?
@@sharkwang1542 when u turn them into an explosive barrel and hurl them at an enemy, they die.
Found all of the potions very easy to make simply by growing all the mats in the pots I can put out myself. Never had any issues being full on all of them without ever using a hopping pot.
I've just beat the whole game and this is the first time I hear about toggling the hood on/off... Thank you gameranx!

Me too! 60+ hours in and beat the main quest without knowing! 😭
You can also spam Lumos to keep the focus potion timer going, to the point you can completely refill the meter if it's almost empty. It's good for maintaining the buff between waves.
Is it a bug or intentional

Same! I wish it had a full bar for m&k
in some cases, wingardium leviosa is incredibly useful, when capturing beasts, instead of just praying they don't run away, you can cast wingardium leviosa to just hold them there while you capture them
It's literally explained in the game!
Not just wingardium leviosa... you can use all sorts of spells, depends how cruel you are haha

Spider-Man as well, but you already mentioned that.
Not all of these games had gigantic hype, but most of them did and even if the hype wasn't massive they were all hyped up in plenty of corners around the internet.
There is Elephant on a Bicycle sweet in the game. The sweet that enabled the consumer to produce animal noises. So to find this go to Manor Cape region. Go to the village north and find a hut containing collection chest to the south of the village. Your can find this sweet near a chest that enables you to imitate sounds of elephant, train, eagle etc.

First thing I learn on a broom was revelio! As well as being able to collect stuff while on your broom
For the first combo, there are upgrades for other spells that allow them to curse enemies. It's really good to have multiple options.
Making potions is mega easy though, i have 6 t shaped potion stations for each type of potion it's so simple. Ingredients are so easy to get if you're just planting stuff.
Yeah I do this, always have 3 of every potion ready when I go to room of req
You can have 7 stations so I use 2 for health potion
A good tip I haven't seen yet is you don't have to swim u can land on the water with your broom and summon it in the water plus u can skip alot puzzle just using ur broom
I use the broom for almost every ancient magic puzzle it’s the best
Literally like everything I had on a wishlist for this game, they put in. This games a masterpiece
Another big tip is you can open chest and stuff while on the broom. You don't have to get off. Real nice for collecting the ancient magic.
If you click L3 while on a broom it will make you accelerate without you having to hold down R2

The pots, just remove the hoppers and create a new one if it gives you a potion you can't use... I mean it still takes time, and you can be unlucky to get the same... But so far I haven't been to unlucky... Just remove the hopper and make a new.
There are multiple OP builds in this game. With the gear traits that increase plant damage, I'm one shotting entire groups of enemies with a Mandrake. This is on hard difficulty.
Which is great, it really gives tons of options how you wanna deal with enemies
I love the idea of Falcon subjecting an unwitting public to video game knowledge. Him showing up in the beginning was GREAT!
With the snowmen you can melt them, but once they are melted if you cast Glacius on the hat and puddle the snowman will reform too.
I feel like you need 5+ levels for the quests in order to complete them with some ease.
The potions are such a key part of the lore, but outside of wiggenweld, I don't think I ever used them. The only time I used plants was when the combat tasks asked for them. They (both plants and potions) felt good, but wholly superfluous.
If you play on hard, you’ll use them n.n
Dude they help so much!
Great spell combo Glacius before Diffindo. It make Diffindo do SO much more damage.
Glacius + Slice is also a great combo
That's my bread and butter combo haha
The running with the npcs was the greatest when i finally figured it out. They tried to get me to follow Sebastian to hogsmeade walking the whole way!

Enjoying a ton of the game Definitely going to have multiple Play throws in different houses
For #4 - It is awesome that the NPC's do keep up with your character if you run, but there are two things to take note of:
Love how NPCs can sit anywhere, LITERALLY anywhere, sofas, floors, tables, but the main character CAN'T, not even in the Room of Requirement or your own bed
I laughed just a bit too hard at you and your issues with the hood 😂

Try going to random villages and find a farm with a scarecrow in it
Now either attack the scarecrow or attack some of the crops like pumpkin etc, the reaction the scarecrow gives is hilarious
The NPC running thing has been introduced over a decade ago. It's back there in the PS3 AC games when you play as Ezio. And not just in the AC games, a lot of other games have that feature as well
Problem is, a lot of games don't have it, and it's very annoying
8:27 you can also rebuild the snowman with Glacius :)
For number 10, you can actually do this as soon as you get upgraded transfiguration. Then one where enemies turn into explosives. Have all the cursed talents (don't even need crucio since you can curse with expelliarmus etc) and all linked enemies die when the explosive appears 😅
Will probably get patched imo.
With the snowman, if you melt it, you can cast glacius and it will revive the snowman
You can also solve some Merlin trials (the ones that require jumping) on the broom. Hover on the top of the stone while flying and you never risk falling or mis-jumping to the next stone :)
Nah that's fixed. I just hopped on a broom and it reset the course.

Catching creatures is annoying. If you set your game difficulty to story, you instant catch creatures instead of having to press buttons. Saves a lot of time!
I made Ravenclaw banners fly on that quest it was great
The OP part about avada kedavra mastery is that other spells can also curse enemy if you put talent points in the right place.
Okay, I did not know that about hood on the robes. Probably because my character hasn't worn a robe since the time she got a Cobalt Coat; this didn't really work with the Dark Arts chest I was using, but it was acceptable. The entire Shopkeeper set works well, especially if you are in Slytherin. It's even better if you use the Tailored Tailcoat you get by discovering the second Hogwarts mystery challenge.
