Eric, a while back I joined a gun club and durring a meeting a pro long range shooter came in to give us a class on how to clean your rifle. I thought I knew exactly how to clean my firearms ( I grew up around guns and was military). Well I was wrong and learned a lot that day, and I no longer use a snake or bore brushes. If you ever decided to make a video of how you clean your rifle I would be interested.
@@magua1368 Nope, not all use Nylon. There are a substantial amount that use Bronze too. Winning in the Wind, who is also a high master fclass shooter, cleans using Bronze.
I appreciate you saying "This is what I do, this is how I do it" and "this is what works for me". Some people say so many things and have NO IDEA how much time and expense YOU have put in. Even the annealing machine, that is how you do it. If someone wants to use a torch and socket it is possible to anneal brass that way and there are videos that will show how. This channel is not the 'Back yard hacks to save money reloading" channel it is "Erik Cortina-Pro Shooter". I will never shoot like you do and I will never have the tools, equipment and hardware you do. I am getting great results from what I have and my abilities to shoot and hand load. I am happy with my results and want to upgrade my dies and tools to try and get better results. I also need to shoot a lot more and practice my techniques. I appreciate you sharing what you do and being honest. I wish everyone was courteous and appreciative. There are very few people who do what you do and that is why you get the results you get. Again, thank you for taking us along for the ride. It is almost exhausting to me to watch, but I truly appreciate your time and effort filming and sharing. Also, I LOVE the Barndominiums.
60 years ago when i was 7 my grandfathers best friend lived in a big metal building with a 16'x40' trailer in one corner. The building had all of his farm equipment repair tools inside and it was a dream play ground for a curious kid I really like the concept of your Barndominiums, i wish you great success
Don’t ever apologize for a video going “long” when you’re dropping knowledge. I love watching you dump the bag out. I’m looking forward to the reloading gear essentials vid. Best of luck on whatever it is going down at the hospital.
What you are doing is..... introducing individuals like me to the sport. I have zero knowledge of this topic but am very interested in learning. For you to take the time to divulge your knowledge is very much appreciated by me. Please keep up the great work
Hahaha!! I have been watching your Barndo channel for a couple years, and just recently knew you were a competitive shooter and started following this channel. Ha! I will pray for you man! Put your trust in Jesus no matter what happens. Trials and hard times are like a wine press, we have to get pressed and crushed before the wine comes.
Found you from the demo ranch build, subscribed to your Texas barndominion channel, then found out later you’re a competition long range shooter.... bonus!
Erik, I learn something new every time I tune in--literally. I had heard you mention "pointing" bullets before but had never seen what it was. A bit over the top for my purposes, but I see why it is standard ops for yours. Love the "homes" you build.
Would love to see that video on great starter tools for reloading. I'm trying to buy what I really need to get serious, not a bunch of package deal "fluff".
Erik, We follow you on both channels and appreciate the the way you explain everything. I am a displaced Texan with grandkids in San Antonio should we move back you will be getting a call to build us a new home. I think you are never too old to learn something new and I have from your content here and on your own other channel. Thanks for sharing. As I said the other day we consider you our friend, stay well.
I love these open style of homes...I've been dreaming of something like that for decades...it's nice to see that there are others that see the potential as I do.
I'm old and retired now. Listening to your comments is refreshing to an old geezer like me. "Close enough" always drove me nuts enough so that more than one business relationship ended with me terminating it. You are the clearest and most practical person doing this type of video. Keep it up-I'm learning a lot!! & Thank you much.
Great videos Eric, I've learned a lot from your insight. Ignore the detractors, they're always there. There are those that watch videos with the anticipation of learning and those watch with the anticipation of commenting.
Never apologize for sharing. Sharing is one very important step in the healing process. It's like annealing your mind and soul. It relieves the stresses built up within the fabric of your makeup. Coping with the challenges in life is what maturity as a person is all about. How can you mentor the next and current generations without sharing at least some of your struggles , imperfection, and frustration? It is impossible. To see your amazing achievement, we need the contrast of your humanity. No one would be impressed if you were just an inhuman robot doing the unattainable feats of excellence. Because there is no path from human to soulless robot. You share the journey so that others may walk the path and avoid the potholes and pitfalls along the way. Thank you for all your hard work. But thanks most of all for sharing. Solid dude.
I follow you on both your platforms, mate. I also work in Hi rise construction Curtain walls. Our tolerances are less than 3mm, so it drives my friends crazy when i point shit out. Keep doing what your doing, with the passion your doing it wish.
First I'm a subscriber to your other channel and love it. Second I'm a subscriber to this channel and I reload rifle, pistol and shotgun mainly for hunting, back yard shooting and self protection. I love your videos here because you don't say " You have to do it this way ". You show us what you do and why. I watch your videos to see if there is something I might want to start doing to my reloads. I'm a retired truck driver and through my 38 years of driving I always watched and listened to other drivers then decided if I was going to do what they did. Same applies to your videos. Keep putting out the great videos on both channels. I first started watching your videos when you started Demo Headquarters then this channel when you and Matt had your pistol shootout..
Erik that s a great idea and bet they are very well designed with energy consumption lower than convientional built homes. I ve had every type home there is. My current home was designed as a storage building. I have carpentry skills and decided finish it myself with efficiency and low energy use the primary goal. I tell you what I think. I saw your video shooting that 1000 yard group and I think that was awesome shooting. 1.3 inches is incredible and when I have mentioned it to shooters I say, if you think that s unreal watch video and check out the first 4 shots. Erik you said it missed, I believe it was the second , maybe the 3rd you thought it missed. When the 2nd covered the first , then 3rd and 4 th only were .3 inches that was insane. I can t believe anyone could criticize your handloading after that and I also remember your M/V s were almost as perfect as your group. That shows the consistancy of your handloads. Thanks for all your help showing what you do and not keeping it private as suggested. I was amazed at the friendliness and want to help between most shooters.
You are putting out great content, its good for everyone to see what goes in the sausage to shoot at the level you do and be relevant. I think its important for people to know that you can shoot small groups and be plenty accurate to shoot 1moa targets at very long distances for 5 maybe 10 shots even. But I'm not sure everyone understands that you don't get to shoot the ( Oh man this is a great group except this one flyer) groups and stay relevant throughout the entire match. I have shot PRS type matches almost since they became a thing, actually before there was a PRS. I learned so much from so many great shooters/gun makers over the years... One day I jumped off the bus because it got to the point where the technology and ability to make things work so good that you don't get to make mistakes and recover on the score board. I have used a lot of information and not used a lot because I found what works for me and what is good enough for me. What you do is relentless and takes a lot of drive. you are helping a ton of shooters get to that next level. Thanks, I have learned a lot from you already myself.
Great video! I don't shoot, reload, or hunt. You are giving your opinion about how to reload... you are sharing what you do. Don't argue! Ugh! I enjoy your content....period. I worked in commercial construction for 6 years......way too many times 1/2 in in 8 feet is good enough...no, precision is good enough!!! 1/4 or 1/8 of an inch is better.....dead on is the mark of a craftsman! Thank you for sharing what you know! Much appreciated! Now when is the last Demo Ranch HQ video coming out!!!! :P Be safe sir.
Sending prayers for you and your family having had a kidney transplant and all the issues that go with it I know how hard it is on yourself and your family
Thank you Erik for showing us the things that really make it work for you. When I started in the Schutzen back in the 90s I found that none of my fellow shooters would with hold tips on how to make my game better. They would always share, there was no money in beating you. That said it often took a high degree of skill to pull it off and they knew that so even if they gave you the tools you still had to pay your dues to achieve. Those fellows would tell you how to cast bullets but it took an artist to cast the winners they took to the match. Like you said range time is more valuable than the last grain of powder.
Love the barndominium idea! Super cool. Oh and don't come to TN if 1/4 MOA off construction bothers you. Here, I'm pretty sure 4 MOA is acceptable to most contractors.
Love ya vids mate i have learnt so much from ya already. If you were to make a vid about the least amount of reloading gear neeeded to reload. Would be mucn appreciated big time. I found for me starten out playing with ya gear taught what not to do and what sorter works and what does work. Guess its all part of learnig. Thanks once again bud. Gday from south australia. Love ya style of house building to mate👌
Cheers from Brasil Erik! I'm enjoying very much your content here (learning a lot!) and also on your other channel. Please share more of your life with us if you are comfortable. I think most of the viewers would enjoy it (I would)! Take care.
Erik, Really like all your videos. I'm not new to handloading but still have much to learn. Have learned much from you to date. Looking forward to your future vids. Pay no mind to your critics. Being a very successful pro competitor you've demonstrated that you know what your doing. Now your share all your years of developed knowledge with us. Thank you. To other viewers. If you want to learn how to improve your skills, listen to those who are successful and do what they do. Kind of like taking golf lessons. Do you want to learn from an established pro or a neighbor down the street? Learn all you can from the pro, then work at being as good as he is.
Ok, Erik, I have subscribed, honestly I quit subscribing to alot of the channels that I watch, mainly because of the algorithms, that now show up as advertisements, when I am on the web. So as a fellow Texan, who lives not to far from you, I subscribed. Like your videos and your common sense approach, that's what means the most to me. Thanks Charlie
Please don't apologize for videos "going long". Those of us that enjoy your channels, are here for "the show". So thank you for bringing us into your life with the 'pew pew' and Barndo. Rock on brother.
Erik, you sir are a consummate professional and have remained connected to your followers despite the trolls. Don’t go changing!! Thank you for your work on the 3rd job = UA-cam, we greatly appreciate it.
I watched a bunch of your barndominium videos throughout the years and loved that channel. With the high prices of freedom seeds I started getting into reloading and found this channel. I didn’t even realize that you are the same person, but I did have a feeling that you look familiar. Mind blowing 🤯
I love Texas barndominion. We live in Ohio and would have to have heat in the floor. But everything else would be great for us. Just started watching this channel. My dad was a machinist and a quarter inch is not except able.
I just realized Erik, that I first saw you on one of your barndominium videos. Wife and I were looking at property around Dallas when I got assigned here but we wound up not buying in the DFW area because of all the cracked slabs and catawampus pier and beam places we saw that they wanted a small fortune for. We bought a place in Florida late last year but we may wind up in Texas again after all and have already decided if we build it'll be a barndominium. We'll be either in the Houston or DFW area so...we might be giving you a holler.
I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and enjoy watching your content! Fellow Texan in Fischer. One day I hope to have you build my barndominium on my 5 acres!
I am also am a general contractor and I agree, open concept and exposed beam look. With half walls for the kitchen and bathroom for sure. I converted 7 barns in my life. Would love to do ground up, much less problems
I had no idea you were a shooter! I’ve been following your Barndo channel since your first appearance on Demo. I’ve definitely enjoyed this channel for the last week or so!
Although I am not a precision shooter, I do find the ability to accomplish what you do intriguing. I have been watching your videos for a few weeks and have now subscribed. I was on the tools for almost 20 years and the three words that drove me crazy were "just make it work". this was usually a result of someone not giving a crap abut their workmanship. Hope all is well with you. Cheers from Canada
Hoping nothing serious with your health, Really am enjoying your priceless info that has taken you a long time to accumulate. Can't thank you enough for the time and effort you put in just to share with us. As for haters, well the world is full of them and I think you handle them well 👍 Love the idea of a getting started tool list, and reason for each tool. Your a legend 🍻
Just starting to watch your videos. Hope your health is improving whatever the condition is. And to the prick that told him "nobody wants to hear about your personal life" shut up...we're fortunate we can all connect with someone like this. Cool video
I really appreciated your videos showing us how to achieve proper seating depth. Could you please show us how you determine the appropriate powder charge?
Erik, I just have to point out that you made a very astute statement at 4:20 and I am grateful, Sir. My father in law reloads- not sure of his process- got me to 800yds more consistent than factory loads. Just had to say I love this segment.
I found out about you from demo ranch and subscribed to your other channel just recently found out about this channel so I subscribed here have not regretted in any way!! Very interested in anything you have to teach building or shooting I believe you can teach us all something!!!!
Praying for good results on your test. Your reloading and shooting are on another level, just like playing chess you don’t get better by watching those on your level. Thanks for sharing.
You sir, are accomplishing a goal that I'm sure you set to achieve and that is to educate and share knowledge with the community. I am a novice to reloading and your information is invaluable to myself. Thank you for your wisdom, and keep up the good work!
I chuckled a little bit at around 11:30 minutes when you mentioned the guy who doesn't want the videos to be a soap opera. We have never met, but I feel like I know you. I like the everyday human stuff. I'd be entertained by most anything you would want to show us.
Real quick as someone who wants to do this reloading brass/make pew pew whom hasn’t even got started on purchasing equipment I need to know what works as the most easiest and effective way without doing any type of damage to person’s, places and things and I find his stuff the most easiest amongst others out there; keep doing what you’re doing.
I've been waiting patiently for new Texas Barndominiums content! :) You are so right about the home building industry not being about quality. I'd love to see your company build a barndo to the Passive House efficiency standard, just to demonstrate that it can be done.
The wraparound porch is something that would be a must for my dream home. I had sketched one out about 12 years ago, but have yet to win the power/megaball(I want a minimum of 240 acres to go with it)😏. Best of luck with the biz and on the range.
I’ve been following texas barndominiums for many years. I had no idea you were a competitive shooter. Just found your shooting today with the Remington Christmas present.
@GIRTH BROOKS my guess would be that "pointing" would make each projektile exactly the same length. I think he said he measures OAL when loading, but ogive when developing.
I've always loved banominiums. You are definitely right that conventional homes leave a lot to be desired. I've had many ideas of building with storage containers 2 high on the corners, with an open area in the middle. Sort of an atrium/garden, living space in the middle spanned with trusses.
I'd like to see more about the tools and dies you use for sure. And information on how to get into the sport. I don't know where to find out about the different shoots. This was a very informative video!
A quick overview of the pointer-press would be great, as with anything you are using on your posts, not all of us have watched every past episode. But I am VERY curious about the Barnominiums, having built a new house I designed five years ago. Thanks Erik.
Thanks for your videos. I love the insight and topic. F class is something I'd like to get into but my schedule doesn't really have room for it currently but the shooting tips and reloading are still applicable to me.
I CHOOSE to tune in to your channel. Firstly for your oractuczl no bs advice ,and I'VE learnt to learn ( life lessons and otherwise) from others. Stay on track brother ,I love your channel. Greatings from South Africa
I discover your channel during the demo ranch building project... Never knew you had a channel and you were to talented. Sorry but now I'm a follower and a believer. Thanks
To whoever claimed you don’t know what you’re doing. I watch the channel so I can learn to not know what I’m doing from you. 🤣🤣🤣 Plus you have an interesting personality. I shared your video with my team from your other channel about learning to not make excuses from your dad. More people need that mindset. 👍

It amazes me that anyone was unaware of the masterpieces you build! Loved the video you made with Matt!
I would love to get into reloading. I think that video would be great! Thanks!.
Hoping nothing serious with your health,
Really am enjoying your priceless info that has taken you a long time to accumulate. Can't thank you enough for the time and effort you put in just to share with us.
As for haters, well the world is full of them and I think you handle them well 👍
Love the idea of a getting started tool list, and reason for each tool.
Your a legend 🍻
Just starting to watch your videos. Hope your health is improving whatever the condition is. And to the prick that told him "nobody wants to hear about your personal life" shut up...we're fortunate we can all connect with someone like this. Cool video
Prayers for your complete health restoration.
Thanks for the extra informative video. Great to get a more personal vid. Really liked how you explained the scoring.
Thanks Eric! I thoroughly enjoy seeing what you do. I’m really looking forward to the videos you mentioned that you are going to be doing.
Another great video
New reloaders video would be great. Show the low end equipment and then the top of the line stuff.
You are so right about the home building industry not being about quality. I'd love to see your company build a barndo to the Passive House efficiency standard, just to demonstrate that it can be done.
You are a brave sort with that autodrive - I think I'd slow it down just a little, looks like a good way to get a finger bit!
The wraparound porch is something that would be a must for my dream home. I had sketched one out about 12 years ago, but have yet to win the power/megaball(I want a minimum of 240 acres to go with it)😏.
Best of luck with the biz and on the range.
If you are comfortable sharing some of your personal life i will listen
There's a link in the description for his other channel
Me too!
Agreed.
I’ve been following texas barndominiums for many years. I had no idea you were a competitive shooter. Just found your shooting today with the Remington Christmas present.
Man I love hearing that you worry about that 1/4 in as well! Been in construction last 18 years n only met 2 guys that put quality like that first
Great to see you back in the shop and enjoy learning about your reloading procedures! Can you explain the bullet pointing process?
My question also. I think he may have mentioned it in a previous vid, but im not sure.
@GIRTH BROOKS my guess would be that "pointing" would make each projektile exactly the same length. I think he said he measures OAL when loading, but ogive when developing.
That is a nice Home!! I could easily live in that construction option. Thanks for sharing!! Stay well.
I've always loved banominiums. You are definitely right that conventional homes leave a lot to be desired. I've had many ideas of building with storage containers 2 high on the corners, with an open area in the middle. Sort of an atrium/garden, living space in the middle spanned with trusses.
Awesome Erik! Beautiful!!
Yes i agree. I would love to see a bare min of what is needed to reload. Love the vids.
Enjoying the show
15:12 yes please!
Thanks for your videos. I love the insight and topic. F class is something I'd like to get into but my schedule doesn't really have room for it currently but the shooting tips and reloading are still applicable to me.
I'm moving to Texas this year. I would love to have a barn. Very nice channel Sir.
I CHOOSE to tune in to your channel. Firstly for your oractuczl no bs advice ,and I'VE learnt to learn ( life lessons and otherwise) from others.
Stay on track brother ,I love your channel.
Greatings from South Africa
Glad to here you are a builder, never heard of a barndeminium.Always wondered what you did.Enjoy your viedos!
You are doing a great job. Please don't stop
I discover your channel during the demo ranch building project... Never knew you had a channel and you were to talented. Sorry but now I'm a follower and a believer. Thanks
Thank you.
Erik - Thanks for the inside look! Nice to see others in a technical field (IT here).
I enjoyed this video as well.
To whoever claimed you don’t know what you’re doing. I watch the channel so I can learn to not know what I’m doing from you. 🤣🤣🤣
Plus you have an interesting personality. I shared your video with my team from your other channel about learning to not make excuses from your dad. More people need that mindset. 👍
I sure appreciate the attention to detail along with your common sense. Thank you sir
