When I bought my 750, I thought I could go without the case feeder at first too. That lasted all of about 3 weeks... The electric case feeder is a reloading force multiplier.
Erik, just wanted to say thank you for the effort you put into sharing your knowledge and experience. I have been shooting, reloading seriously for over 30 years. Competed for a while but life got in the way, getting back into it soon! Your methods and approach are informative and enlightening to say the least! Your video's have encouraged me to re think some of my techniques and methods. I have some 6.5 CM I will be working on soon and I look forward to seeing some improvement in my groups. Currently around .41 moa but I know rifle and round are capable of better.. Thank you again!
Anecdotally, I got Lasik several years back. This was not a cheap eye place and it was pretty darn expensive at the time. I love it. Pretty much the second I walked out of the office I could see 10x better. Over the next several months my eyes did great but I'd still have some "haloing" on headlights at night. Basically you get kind of a startburst around headlights. It never really effected my eyes during the day. After about 9 months to a year the haloing went away. I love it. I'm sure at some point my eyes may start to slide back into their old ways but I haven't had any issues and I probably have the operation about 8 years ago.
Great minds think alike! I have a Forster Coax and am looking to add a 750 to the stable very soon! I found a new one ready to load 223, which is definitely what I need speed for! It's cool to see you loading precision stuff on yours! 😎
Just got a 750 a few weeks ago. Been loading 223. So far I've been pretty impressed at the accuracy it's holding on the seating depth. But I was coming from a red press so there was a big price difference there. I know in one of your videos you were seating in two steps for match ammo, and I would still do the same but this dillon is nice! Don't have an auto drive but have case and bullet feeders.
You may or may not have done a video on brass annealing? But I would like to see that in action with someone who I feel like, can be trusted. Thanks and I enjoy your channel.
Good Luck with all your endeavors Erik. You are doing the right thing to measure twice and cut once with your eyes. You will make the right call either way. Think about a isolation that keeps the excitement from the press from vibrating under the scale. If they are supported by a common structure, it could affect the performance. Good Luck!
I have my old 650 away because I didn’t trust it. Stuck in my single stage rut. Now I’m trying to figure out how I upgrade to that setup! That technology is awesome!!!
Great gear Eric and so fast that started thinking about one for myself the problem is supply over here I would have to order it from the states and go through all the import crap which is a real pain in the butt , thank you for your time sharing . Steve from Australia

What a fantastic set-up, a time saver for sure, but for me i love the processes when using a good single stage press, it's relaxing. I'm retired so if it takes me all day to prep and load 80 rounds it's time well spent
Nice set up. My 750 doesn't have a case feeder either mainly because of ceiling height in my reloading room ( more like a big closet lol ). I have an RCBS Big Max that I use a lot but one of these days I would like a Redding turret press.
Erik... Would definitely not take a chance on the lasic considering how much you enjoy shooting i just wouldn't risk it. My old man had it done, they jacked up his one eye so badly he saw nothing but red for almost 3 years; he can barely make shapes out on that one eye 8 years later. As a contractor you would know, the job is only as good as the luck of the draw of the contractor you get to do it.
WHAT A GREAT SET-UP. i WISH i COULD FIND SOMEONE TO SELL ME THE SAME PRESS AND MARK7 SET UP. KEEP US UPDATED ON HOW IT WORKS OUT FOR YOU INCLUDING QUALITY OF ROUNDS. Darn caps lock was on.
I am extremely new to reloading. And honestly I'm enjoying making each one perfect. But I can see how after years one would want automated. This is a sweet set up! I want this for my 5.56 and 9mm for sure!
“I didn’t have a need for a second 750.” I don’t think I can understand what you’re saying, is this a foreign language? Klingon? Seriously, though it seems like you “need” the Dillon trimmer with that setup, though I haven’t used it personally, don’t know if it would deburr and chamfer to your liking. Worth looking into.
Good luck with your Mark 7. A friend has four of them and they are constantly broken. They use extremely poor quality bullet sensors that have to be constantly readjusted and repaired. Along with other numerous small issues.
Dillion case trimmer for sure. But it will not chamfer or ream. Just use different die heads and trim dies for 6mm/7mm. Trimmer can be shared between the two. Dillion primer filler would be the next item to buy.
Erik, I got Lasik about 5 years ago and damn I can can see BETTER. I would only change one thing, in getting both eyes done the same. My left eye was pretty bad and I could see super well really close up. After the surgery, my right eye sees distance really well and my left eye can see up closer better. Not nearly as close as it used to be though. I wish I had gotten both eyes done for distance, then I would only need glasses for really close stuff.
As you well know, Competitive shooting can become very demanding on your time, fitting in normal life, domestic duties, time with family, also your means of supporting yourself, become a strict time management activity, and requires planning. It all depends on what level your passion for the sport has a hold on you. People that get some sort of automated processing for their support in the way of loading are unavoidable as an option as your needs and involvement grow. It isn't just because you want to impress all your friends. -Dave
Get in touch with Jeremy Fielding (channel is same name); I'll bet he can help you out with design and details. I have no idea if he knows squat about firearms or reloading but he certainly knows just about everything about electric motors and building ANYTHING.
I shot with with Jay at the FLOP about 5 years ago. It was all I could do not to buy a Mark 7 then. Pistol loading with case and bullet feeder only requires pulling the handle though. Now that I’m getting into precision rifle, an autodrive would be sweet for brass prep.
Loving your videos! Couple of questions I have: Do you clean the lube off after the case is assembled? How do you combat varying neck tension after expanding the necks?
Yes, clean it off after case is done. There is no neck tension variance, at least none that makes a difference after sizing brass. That’s the reason for mandrel.
Lasik is okay if your young and your eyes are stable, but at your age you wait any longer and you'll be needing cataract surgery. Get the step up lenses, they cost about a grand more but its worth it. The tri focal might be better. In and out 15 minutes and barring complications You will see better at night and at distance. Readers are a must.
I think your drop tube on your case feeder is upside down. The dillon sticker should be upright. That end of the tube is chamfered if you look at it so cases don't get stuck.
Betting you just end up shooting more. The next game you really need to work on is fitting one of those brass feeders to your annealer. If you make a kit and sell it remember who your pal is. :P I certainly agree with you on the caliber game, I do have a few but man I don't like the change over. At least you're probably all small primered as well which I'm sure helps.
So, to automate-ish the Prometheus powder charge dump you could use a stepper motor, stepper driver, an Arduino Uno and then a momentary switch to send the command to the Arduino to throw the powder. I have a block of code in Arduino IDE I can send you that controlled a few stepper motors on my DIY induction annealer via a momentary switch.
I’m worried that the stepper motor won’t have enough torque to cut powder kernel in the powder thrower. I have discussed it with someone and he suggested using a geared motor with limit switches. 🤷♂️
@@ErikCortina should be a non issue. My AutoTrickler setup uses a stepper motor to dump powder and it cuts powder when it’s needed to. Either solution will work, but the stepper motor direction would result in less wiring since you don’t need a limit switch as a stop function. Just calculate/tune the number of steps needed to dump the powder, hold for how ever many seconds you feel is necessary, and then return to the starting point.

Video about your 284 Shehane brass process ?
Cheers
Do you trim before you FL size
After
What powder die/funnel are you using on the Dillon?
A custom made one I made.
@@ErikCortina I gotcha. Thanks for the response. I really enjoy your channel.
Four minutes in...I think I recognize that shirt ;)...is that a buffalo shirt?
Yes it is! :)
As you have said before...if you know, you know. LOL

Did you ever end up getting lasik?
You see dillons making a case prep machine now, dont have to use your 750 to do it.
@@waltersobchak2250 Ahh gotcha
Looks like reloading pistol ammo is easy now.
Meanwhile I'm over here trying to justify getting just a case-feeder that's $300 lol.
😂
........ Erik to make life easier just get another trimmer and mandrel setup for 7mm
Another trimmer is what I’m thinking.
Just like a kid with a new toy.
I have an auto drive for my XL650
I use ear buds and listen to Black Sabbath....
Would you be willing to give us a list of xl750 parts we would need to setup the 6br case. It's not intuitive on dillons site.
308 win conversion kit plus dies.
Look up Precision Brass Ops on Instagram. He had a 650 set up with a Prometheus. I'm sure he could get you going the right direction.
What’s another $495 for a trimmer? Remember it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
Do you have 750's so you can load LA rifle rounds?
One is for my PRS rifle and the other one for F-Class.
Maybe get rid of 6 and 7, and go with 6.5 for everything ;)
Not for F-Class.
@@ErikCortina oooo interesting! Is there a breakdown of F-class Pros who shoot 6.5mm, 7mm, 30 cal, .338, etc? I do own a Ruger Precision in 6.5 CM and I have lots of fun with it. Obviously not in competitions :D
i want one!
How did the die wax preform?
Very well. I like it better than imperial so far.
Put the trimmer on the machine.
Only a hundred? I have to answer more than that on a average day. LOL
It is an expensive investment. ;)
I see a primer tube filler in your future.
Got one. 😉
