- Come join us as we visit the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. Some places or attractions you visit don't live up to the hype; however, the Alhambra (الْحَمْرَاء) certainly does and having an opportunity to see its splendor from afar and up close is one of the greatest travel moment we've experienced in recent memory. As impressive as the Alhambra is from certain lookout points in Granada it is once you enter its grounds up close and person that you have a real appreciation for the intricate details and sheer size of the place. Our biggest suggestion when visiting the Alhambra (الْحَمْرَاء) is to give yourself plenty of time to take it all in. It is an attraction that is so impressive and massive that spending anything less than half a day does not do it justice.

Visiting Alhambra in Granada, Spain Travel Video Transcript:
Good morning guys. As you can tell from the way we are dressed it is fill in the blank cold this morning. We're really excited to be exploring the Alhambra here in Granada. We are up bright and early. We sure are. We have tickets for 10 am to visit the Nasrid Palaces but we've come in early. We're going to have a look around visit the gardens. There is two reasons why we decided to come so early this morning. And it was actually minus temperatures this morning. That is why I'm dressed the way we are. We have our hats, we have our toques and we have our scarves on. Apparently there is the best light in the morning. And you beat the crowds a little bit. Let's do this.
The Alhambra is one of the most impressive sights in all of Spain and it receives over 2 million tourists every year. This complex of palaces, gardens and fortresses once formed the citadel that was part of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada, which was the last Muslim dynasty to rule along the Iberian Peninsula from the years 1230 to 1492.
The Nasrid Palaces are a collection of rooms, courtyards, and spaces that were used for business, administration, and for private living quarters.
The architecture is characterized by its carved arabic inscriptions, its intricate cedar wood ceilings, and its colourful tiles arranged in geometric patterns.
Inside the Nasrid Palaces, we visited the Court of the Myrtles, whose key feature is a pool fed by two marble fountains. Not only did this help cool the palace, but it also acted as a symbol of power since water was usually in short supply.
From there we continued to the Hall of Ambassadors, which is the largest room in the Alhambra (الْحَمْرَاء). This was the grand reception room where the sultan’s throne was located. One of the most impressive aspects of this room is the carved wooden ceiling, which is a representation of the Seven Heavens of the Islamic Paradise.
Our next stop was the Palace of Charles the V, which stands out from the rest of the constructions at the Alhambra (الْحَمْرَاء). Construction of this palace was ordered by Charles the V who was Holy Roman Emperor at the time. He wanted to establish his residence close to the Alhambra palaces, though there is no evidence he ever lived here.
There was still plenty left to see in the Alhambra (الْحَمْرَاء), so our next stop was the Alcazaba. This is the oldest part of the Alhambra (الْحَمْرَاء) which was built as a stronghold for surveillance and defence. We climbed up the two towers, which offer some of the best views of Granada.
And that’s pretty much a wrap for our visit to the Alhambra (الْحَمْرَاء). We only spent a half day touring the grounds, but you could easily spend a full day there - especially if you visit in the spring or summer once the gardens are already in bloom. Our parting tips for the Alhambra are to visit with plenty of time, and to wear comfortable shoes because you will be walking around a lot! That’s it for now, and we’ll see you in the next video.
This is part of our Travel in Spain video series showcasing Spanish food, Spanish culture and Spanish cuisine.

ISLAMIC CULTURE IT'S BEAUTIFUL IN SPAIN FROM IRAQ 🇮🇶❤️🇪🇸🌹🌹🌹
Alhambra. one of the great wonders of the world!
It is incredible.
You missed quite a bit out but people really do not realise how big the Alhambra actually is; it was a city after all complete with its own mosque and hammam. Did you know that you can explore the Alhambra without buying a ticket? The ticket is only for the Nasrid Palaces, Alcazaba and Generalife (the main tourist bits) but the rest is open for free (Palacio Carlos V & Museum, Hammam, Church (former mosque), towers, gardens and the general grounds). The best way to enter the Alhambra for free is via Puerta de la Justicia (Justice Gate) which is half way up the hill to the main entrance. Entrance from Cuesta de los Chinos is also amazing especially as it's not that well known. It really is amazing how the Alhambra still exists, especially as it wasn't actually built to last!
Thank you very much for sharing that!
Thanks for all these tips!! ❤️
لا غالب الا الله ❤️❤️
Thanks!
@@samuelandaudrey You're welcome. Great video 👍
@@samuelandaudrey That's the slogan inscription written all over Al Hambra and it means "No Victor but Allah" (victories on earth come n go but Ultimatly The Only who never test defeat is The Creator) (Allah is The term used also by Jesus Christ peace be upon Him when refering to God pronounced in aramaic Allaha, unlike latin God it can not take gender female or male like godess or plural)
Alhambra..... the detail and work put into it was awe inspiring. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful place!!😃👍
Thank you! It truly is impressive.
I did not imagine Alhambra was so big! I liked it lot. And the cats always following you
Yeah, it is just massive. We were surprised as well. So nice to have the cats there too!
What a nice Islamic engineering. Art..etc...they were amazing
It was very impressive!
@@wakwak2491 and so? Moroccans aren’t muslims?!
A thousand years ago, people built such beautiful things, with so much detail, perfectly representing the culture of the people.
And what are we building today? Boring rectangular blocks of glass and steel that all look the same, all around the world...it's such a shame.
That's EXACTLY what I've been saying. These people knew exactly what they were doing, they built beautiful architecture, and we're admire these buildings in ways we're don't admire modern buildings. That says a lot!
We just visited the Alhambra this week and it was amazing! Thank you for making the video. I ended up making a video too, the architecture was just too beautiful! 😍
Thanks Rachael! That is great to hear.
In addition to all previous comments: fascinating video of great vistas in and around the palaces & gardens. We are visiting next Easter time, and really looking forward to it. Your informative profile has shown us much to look out for. Thanks for sharing! Greetings from London, UK
Thank you very much! Hope you have a great visit.
Complete and interesting as usual guys! Love your editing! You are an inspiration for a good way of travelling. Hugs! Renata
Thank you very much!
No sé si me entenderéis pero en Granada nunca hubo escasez de agua y menos en esa época pues tenemos sierra Nevada lo que pasa que para un árabe los tres sonidos más importantes son los que emite el agua el de las monedas y la risa de una mujer bella.
One of my travel bucket list to go. Its feel more surreal when you know the history when visiting this kind of place. Thanks for the great video 💜💜
Thank you! Hope you can visit soon.

That is really cool to hear! We filmed this in February. How were the temperatures then?
Thank you again for Alhambra. It really was the highlight of my month long break (Normandy, Granada, Cordoba, Seville, Lisbon, Porto) with my best friend. I will definitely return for another visit.
Temperature? Hahahaha! It was around 20c. Thank God! Listen to you 2 Canadians complain about the cold. LOL.

The most beautiful city in the World 😍😍😍😍😍😍
It truly is an incredible city. We'll have a city guide coming out soon.
Yes im from granada .doy fe.
Heaven on earth
Truly amazing place!
good to see you in granada, i live about 4 hours away by bus so usually go to diffrent parts of spain over easter its a beautiful place.
Thank you very much! Oh, you're very nearby. Any other places within a 3-4 hour distance you'd recommend visiting?
it really depends on what you like, madrid and barcelona are about 7 hours away from me but i didnt really like those places they are a bit too rough and grey sort of like huge cities that arent really that spanish. Seville is beautiful really nice people and lots to do there plus they filmed a lot of game of thrones in a place called italica which is half a hour away. mallaga is a nice place to visit but i tend to not go for my easter break there as its only a hour away from me but its nice its a big city but nowhere near as bad as madrid or barcelona. There are some areas near mallaga where they filmed the clint eastwood spaghetti westerns, 1 is like some sort of wild west theme park but like most places in spain it is a bit out of the way. Coin is a nice place, it is sort of a hour from marbella and it a town on top of a mountain if you know what i mean, a little bit cut off from the rest of spain (30 minutes drive or by bus from marbella) so not for everyone but its quite nice there, rhonda is also nice if you can get to marbella rhonda is like a hour away it is like coin but MUCH MUCH bigger, i think rhonda is a bit more like granada but with old bridges and also very spanish but like coin a little bit cut off from mainland spain but the drive from marbella to rhonda is stunning. If you get to marbella bus station there are loads of buses that go to all those places with hourly buses apart from maybe rhonda and coin because they are cut off.
So beautifull thanks a lot
The Alhambra has an interesting history, the son of the ruler was on the outs with his father and to get back at him showed the Christian forces a secret way to get past the defenses which led to his downfall and retreat from Spain.
It really does have a fascinating history! Thanks for sharing that background info.
Speaking of history, I'm reading on Wikipedia where after the conclusion of the Christian "Reconquista" in 1492, the site became the Royal Court of Ferdinand and Isabella where Christopher Columbus received royal endorsement for his expedition.
The reconquest of Spain was the #1 priority for Ferdinand and Isabella, once that was accomplished they turned their attention to the Columbus voyage.
@@JSTONE9352 it was spainish muslims who took columbus to americas
Absolutely gorgeous 👍👍
Thank you! It is an incredible place to visit.
It was one of my favorite places to visit!
Very cool to hear! When did you go?

Thank you very much! It certainly was wonderful and the cats made it even better :)
Enjoy!
Thanks!
Very beautiful!🌹🌷 Do you suggest going with a tour bus from Seville or is it an easy drive there?
We didn't spend time in Seville but I'm guessing you could easily arrange transportation for the day.
Loved your summary visit to the Beautiful Alhambra. As a favor to me and my wife who has walking issues, please try to imagine trying to see this wonderful place if it hurts to take more than three steps. Also what it is like to push someone in a wheelchair up and down those paths?
Hi, Is the audio guide included in the ticket?
I love all of your videos. I have sore fingers from taking so many notes haha. What month were you in Granada? We are traveling from Australia and will be there early May and seeing how cold you have been in some of your videos, I am now wondering what clothes I should pack. Thanks
Thanks Dianne! That is exciting to hear about your trip. I believe in May it should be much warmer than when we visited. I'd still have a nice fleece and jacket though.
How did you arrived at grenada ? By car ,train,bus....?? Great video thank you
By bus!
En Andalucia tambien hace frio, jajaja.El agua en Granada no era escasa, lo era en el desierto del Sahara o Arabia.
What???? No restaurant???? How did you survive???))))))) Hehe. Lovely place, lovely video - thank you!
Hahaha...we had a nice meal afterwards.
What month was this filmed?
I went in September, arrived at 8.00am, wern't let in till 1400 hrs, finally left the Alhambra complex at 20.00hrs. Its a long day...
Wow! That is a long day!
Middle eastern arabic architecture ♥️😍♥️
It is fascinating architecture and beautiful.
@@samuelandaudrey thanx 😙🌷
❤️💛💛❤️💚.
A world wonder.
We felt very fortunate to visit.
What month were you here?
Cindy Villarreal, probably February.
We visited in early February.
Exactly! Great guess.
Nubianette thank you! Liive your videos!!
Sounds like another parting tip would be to book tickets in advance. And maybe bring treats for the kitties.
THanks! Both tips are gold!
In some other video, you were swimming in Barbuda. Somehow you jumped from Valencia to Barbuda.
Ah, we went to Antigua after Europe. Our video on this channel will be out in about a month from now.
I knew that. Do you still have time for teaching? Right now you are vacationing, but what about later?

seat alhambra;)
:)
The Muslims did an awful decision by eliminate the caliphate and became taifas weak territories. but indeed they left great civilization which benefits the Iberia tell today.. thanks for your video

,
I come to your Chanel coz Korean drama "Memories of the Alhambra" in Netflix
Cool to hear! How is that series?
1:04 Oh, so the name is Arabic, NOT Spanish? The English captions shows that. Makes sense, because Spain is across Gibraltar Strait from Morocco, an Arabic country.
Great eye Brady! Indeed, that is correct.
