    Your pop up does look better for sure, but if a lawn mower wacks off the nds pop up, you are cutting your grass way to short.

      According to any lawnmower manual, grass newer should be cut with 0 clearance. The same goes for mowing your grass on the roof, or balcony... 🤣

    My house has very little slope to the road maybe just a few inches so I have to use the kind without a spring to prevent the gutters from flooding over. So I guess each has its use depending on the situation.

    I have these NDS pop-ups draining away from predominately pool & deck discharge into the edge of the grass/yard. We recently covered this area with cobblestone. Is it ok to replace these pop-up covers with some other plastic cover that essentially is a screen and then I can cover with cobblestone since it will drain through up through the rock?

    Is there a product that can control the direction of the water discharge? I don’t want a 360 degree discharge from the emitter. I want to be able to direct it to only discharge into the street and not back into my lawn. I think I am looking for a flip up emitter?

    NDS makes one with a spring, too, btw. Amazon, dude.
    Question:
    I have rolled curbs. Can't drill them. can't cut them. pop-up is the answer, right?
    well.. is there one with a DIRECTIONAL flow, so i can spit water OVER the curb, rather than just flood my yard NEXT to the curb?
    if not, can you recommend a sprinkler head I could maybe make work?

    Had no idea there was a model with a spring... But I have my mower set at max height, so it's never a problem. The problem I have, and a spring might solve it, is critters (squirrels I think) like to claw and chew at the cover to get to any water that hasn't drained (through the slit) yet. I had one "thirsty" critter even chew through the "cross bar" that holds the part that pops up (cap). I rebuilt it with two part epoxy, so no biggie. Thank you for the info!

    • @nehoha
      @nehoha 6 місяців тому

      I just wanted to comment on the same. You never set your mower blades that low, so there should be virtually no problem with accidental chop-off. Also, a spring-operated emitter may impose other issues like the spring may get weaker over time or get rusted away (which often happens). The spring may catch pine needles and leaves in the spring coil and stop operating properly. Overengineering simple things like this is a waste of time and money.

    Hello French drain man. Could you offer any advice as to why my underground drainage system that ends to a pop emitter still has quite a bit of water in the drain near the pop up? 2 days of heavier rain(finally🙏🏻) . Never had this problem before but system is about 1 year old. Just noticed this issue today. Pipe is full of water at the emitter for as far back as I can reach my arm in there. About about a 30’ run, sloping to the downward part of the yard. Other end of drain at downspout does not have any water back up. Elbow at emitter has 1/4” whole drilled so no water is supposed to stay in that end. Looking for any advice/help you could offer. Thank you from a NE Michigander.

    I have an NDS emitter, and my French drain overflowed onto my patio earlier this week. I couldn’t figure out if I had a clog, but after looking around our system, I looked at our NDS emitter in the front yard, and the damn thing was not automatically opening, even though there was probably 100L of water in the French drain and it was NOT draining at all. Mind you, I’m in Texas, so there was no freeze; it was about 65 degrees. I yanked the entire NDS emitter off the drain pipe and water just came gushing out and drained the entire trench quicker than I could go into my backyard to check it.
    This has not ever happened in the five years I’ve lived here, and my NDS has a spring on it. It’s possible someone took it off another product and put it on here, but it’s too strong when we have monsoon floods. This NDS product is an absolute piece-of-shit system.

I looked on Amazon and they are $55 and then on the actual Polylok website and I got excited because they were only $21 (drain w/ elbow) but then you click on purchase and the ONLY option for shipping is additional $25 bucks!! So please share if you find them for UNDER 50 bucks :)

      Pretty much. How about instead of bashing every other competitor product - maybe focus more on the positives of your own products? This is my # 1 reasoning for not using companies that do nothing but bash their competitors. I’ve had an NDS pop up for 6 years- never an issue and my kids mow over it constantly and never has it been damaged. Educate yourself about the proper grass height, if you’re cutting the pop up / you’re cutting WAY TO SHORT!

    • @GregoryGuay
      @GregoryGuay 4 роки тому +2

      Same. Seems like my 1-2% slope allows water to sit until there’s enough water to make water height in pipe at pop up level with highest point. Then it starts dribbling out.

    • @briananderson6758
      @briananderson6758 3 роки тому +2

      @@GregoryGuay with the shallow slope you won’t have as much pressure pushing up out of the pop up. Think of the angle of your underground drain pipe. The water will fill the pipe until the height of water level reaches the top of pop up. If your pipe is only sightly pitched most of the pipe will fill up before it comes out of the pop out. With a larger pitch angle the water still fills the pipe until it reaches pop up height. Imagin the height of where your pop up is, now imagine a level line starting at said pop up and going to where that downpout is on the house. That level line should be lower than the entrance on the drain pipe and is where the water line will fill to before ejecting out of pop up

      I can't answer your question directly, but in one of his other videos he hints that one of those grated drain covers (e.g. the NDS 6" round grate, not an emitter) is an alternative. I went that route because I had the same concern, and it works pretty good. I've seen some emitters that have a hinge, which I might try. However those won't solve the problem with the "lawn guy".

    • @jeffm2787
      @jeffm2787 2 роки тому

      @@JasonCapriotti I went with the grated cover as a solution. Appears to work out just fine. I don't have enough slope and no real way to get it without going well off my property line. The pop up's with a spring would never open. The grate works just fine. Went from having a flooded driveway with 4 inches of water down to just a little witch clears off quick enough.

      I only know of limestone rock available here also, and they only carry in 1" increments. In clean, they have 1/2", 1", 2", 3".
      With those sizes, I'm wondering what size to go with for a french drain that has very good slope, 150' long, with the blue octane, burrito wrapped. I'm thinking 1" rock to hug the pipe, and 2" rock on top.

    I have pop up emitters in my yard at the ends of my 4" PVC lines and corrugated drainage tiles. These lines do not have holes in them otherwise they get filled up with mud and roots. Water just sits about 1/3 to 1/2 full in these lines unless there's enough pressure to push the water out the pop up emitter. What's the solution to the standing water in the lines leading up to the emitters?

    • @CR-ow2wp
      @CR-ow2wp 4 роки тому +1

      Yes, you should be able to get a piece of schedule 35 PVC pipe along with a coupling to basically extend the height of your pop up emitter or grate. The schedule 35 is the thinner PVC pipe to be used for outdoor drainage, which is different than the thicker schedule 40 which is typically used for indoor drainage and sewer applications.
      Using a hacksaw or reciprocating saw, you can cut the schedule 35 PVC pipe to whatever length you need to extend the height of your pop-up.

    • @GregoryGuay
      @GregoryGuay 4 роки тому

      Chirag Raval this extra height will likely result in more standing water in pipe until enough /next rain pushes water up. Is this typical?

It really wasn't satisfying to me, but that's how they're made. I haven't found the right material yet. Since I only have four of them, it's not a huge problem to put them back in place.
