Chuck- thanks to you I completed my downspout burials ( may they Rest In Peace) last weekend. I have two that connect to a 50 foot run to the front yard. Had a heavy rain yesterday. I could not believe the amount of water they move ! My neighbor and I did his too so the lake between our houses is no more. Thanks for all the tips. Saved a couple of grand and got to play in the dirt!

Good golly Chuck this is the absolute best video I've ever seen in my whole life!! Really, as I just said this to my dear Joan as I was sitting here watching drainage videos and trying to get my drainage issues resolved due to other people not making things easy for me and my lack of knowledge/experience - ha! I now have more knowledge and I was at least somewhat on the right... wait for it... flow of how to get it done for success. Your video brought me that peace and success. It's Friday and almost 1 p.m. so I'm gonna have a cold one. Thank you and God bless! 🇨🇱🇺🇸

Thanks to this channel I was able to correct a drainage issue in our new home. The previous owner had the drain pipe about 8 feet short of the sidewalk and the popup was under the grass about 4"! I found it dug my channel, went to Home Depot and got my 10' drain pipe and installed. Boom done. Big rain worked great! Thanks Apple Drains.

Hmmm, my house’s gutter drains are plumbed in 3” Sched 40 and the house is fully surrounded by concrete side walk and patio. I had to get yard around house regraded to create better water shed away from house so most of the long underground runs had to be cut about 10’ from house. I’m debating whether I should re-trence for long runs of PVC or use pop-ups, assuming they make them for 3” PVC… maybe there are adapters to allow fit to 3”??

I have been watching your videos. I am going to exhaust a downspout to a pipe, go under a sidewalk and out to yard. Probably going out 12’ or so. I want to end with a pop up that disperses the water into yard, away from house. Question is, I am going to have the pipe drop as it runs away from house and the end of the pipe will be deep. If I put a 90 degree elbow, the pop up won’t be out of the trench. Can you put a vertical piece on the 90, then attach the pop up to that to get it out of the trench

I just had a drain installed that empties into the ditch. The contractor put the discharge or the pipe about 6" or so under the grade of the ditch. Would a pop-up emitter work in this situation? I have used them before and they work great, but I am worried that having the water in the ditch flowing over them will cause issues. The contractor will be coming back and I am going to bring this up to them. Thanks

I can't raise them up, and I can't make them taller (I asked NDS if they make extensions). I have no idea how to do this. Can you give suggestions?

    • @literalstuff1847

@@enriquejavier4700 Hi! So, I ended up trenching the downspouts out about 15 feet from the house. The incline, as I said, put the ends underground. You can spend the crazy amount of money they want to get pop up extenders to make it tall and then put the popup on that way, but what I did was dig a dry well. I tested for drainage and then lined with a geocloth that drained well. I put a layer of rinsed river rock down so the pipe laid on it like a bed. I put atrium grates on the ends of the pipes and then put more river rock on top of it. I need to landscape around the rockbeds now to make them look intentional, but I honestly prefer just having no pop ups in the middle of my yard. The water where I live is a LOT and it would just run off into the sidewalk which would cause bigger issues during a freeze. This was a bit more labor, but worth it to me. It works REALLY well!

I will be running 4" pvc pipe from my gutter downspout to the road. Do you recommend a transition to corrugated pipe for the last 5 feet so that way it will slow down the water before it hits the pop up emitter at the road/storm drain? I don't want to lose my pop up emitter during heavy rains when there is a lot of water flow

  • @CKCrippledKnight

Hello Chuck, Thanks for the videos and spending a lot of time to make these for us. They're amazing! With this being said, I am running schedule 4" 40 PVC 12 feet long on 1% slope 12 inches deep for my downspouts on my 1965 bungalow. I would like to know if I can run that directly to a pop-up or a drain? I live in Toronto Canada and of course we have nasty winters so frost thaw cycles. I'm concerned about standing water in the pipe. In your video the examples seem to only work with thin wall pipe, not schedule 40 as you mentioned. So just wondering what to do in this particular case as that's what I'm using in my (schedule 40) application here. Somteimes the slot that's being used in the elbow can clog up. Need your expertise on what you think I should use? Also, is there an adaptop that will fit onto the schedule 40 PVC ? Kindest regards, Stephen
